The Birthmark, And Rappachini s Daughter, By Nathaniel...
Nathaniel Hawthorne was a prominent 19th century American author who is widely regarded for
his adequate contributions to revolutionizing modern day literature. In his three works: Young
Goodman Brown, The Birthmark, and Rappachini s Daughter, Hawthorne uses a myriad of
techniques and stylistic traits to portray ideologies and create interest within the readers. In his
short stories, Hawthorne flawlessly conveys his erudition on modern themes of psychology and the
human inclination to sin through his astute use of ambiguity and symbolism. In his stories,
Hawthorne commonly wrote to explore the evil and sin within man. In his three short stories,
symbolism ultimately attests to this. In Young Goodman Brown, Brown adventures into the forest...

Supported in his writing, Young Goodman Brown, readers are introduced to Brown, a character
who seemingly finds Hawthorne s technique of otherworldly events. While adventuring through
nature, Brown finds himself entrapped in the blending of the forest with the supernatural to depict
the woods taking on a life of its own. From this Brown watches in horror as the devil throws the
supernatural serpent shaped staff on the ground, causing it to come to life and slither into the
obscurity of the forest. Hawthorne s technique is also found in his work The Birthmark. In his story,
Hawthorne creates a supernatural element within the birthmark itself, as it creates the question on
whether or not Georgianna is an angel or human. The birthmark, being the only human feature, is
the only factor keeping Georgianna attached to reality. When the birthmark is removed, the only
attachment to reality is broken and Georgina is taken up into heaven, the only pure place in
existence. Finally, readers are presented with Hawthorne s story, Rappaccini s daughter. Beatrice,
Hawthorne s physical embodiment of the supernatural element, is first depicted in an enclosed and
isolated garden. Though, Beatrice may not dead or inhuman, she possesses a unique and distinct
quality, a poisonous touch. Presented through the story, whatever she touches dies and even her
very breath kills any living creature near her. From this, Hawthorne leaves readers with a sense of
ambiguity with such otherworldly

Food In Korean Food
A few days ago, a friend invited me and a five other people over to her house, as her parents
wanted to cook us a home cooked meal. The dining table had a total of six chairs, including the
host s. I noticed that the spacing between the chairs were relatively of close distance, showing how
Meals identify social boundaries surrounding familiarity with people, and these are articulated
around ideas of people s intimacy and distance (Crowther 161). An elaborate plate of foodwas set
out for each guest, as her parents had cooked us steak with roasted potatoes, grilled asparagus,
corn, a piece of bread, as well as a dish of cream spaghetti. There was also sparkling water and
regular water to drink along with the meal. For all of the guests, this meal was especially
enjoyable because we were all students dorming in college, so we had not eaten a home cooked
meal in a long time. This can be reconnected to the topic of commensality, as The sharing of food
reinforces ties, forges new memories, and allows people to reflect on the importance of eating
together (Crowther 151).
In Korean culture, it is respectable for the guests to help set the table with the necessary utensils,
as it also shows the parents that we are appreciative of the meal. Right as the plate of food was set
on the table, everyone began to take out their phones, waiting to capture pictures of the food. As all
the guests were females, it was interesting to see how social media is involved, even in the ordinary

Watch Dogs 2 Research Papers
In Watch Dogs 2, the player takes control of Marcus Holloway, a young hacker from Oakland
who was convicted of a crime he didn t commit due to the Big Brother like surveillance system
ctOS 2.0. Afterward, he sets out to take down the mal purposed software and Blume, the
company behind it. To accomplish this, he enlists with the hacktivist group DedSec and takes
on a variety of missions in and around San Francisco. While first playing the game, I noticed
how different it felt from the original entry in the series. Instead of opening with cut scenes of a
digital heist gone wrong followed by the traumatic death of the main character s niece, the game
starts off by tasking the player to break into a guarded server farm while fun electronic music
plays in the background. They even throw in a Mission Impossible reference in the first lines of
dialogue when a mysterious digitally altered voice says: Your mission, should you choose to
accept it, is to bypass Blume s security doors and get inside (Watch Dogs 2). However, Watch

Philoplasty Replacement Essay
While male enhancement surgery can give you quick results on penis enlargement, you still need to
consider many things before deciding to undergo it. You need to consider how the surgery will be
done, how it can affect you, etc.
Bigger and better manhood is what most men desire to achieve. There are various methods that are
available to use in increasing penis size. One method that can probably provide the best outcome
within the shortest amount of time is male enhancement surgery or phalloplasty. Since this is an
invasive process, you need to consider it carefully. Below are some important details about this
method that can help you in your decision making. What Phalloplasty OffersIt is a procedure that

Inside your body, there are still about 8 10 centimeters of the penis (the length depends on your
lineage; for an average American, it is about 13 centimeters). There is a cavity inside your body
through which the remaining penile length hangs from your pubic bone. It is suspended by two
ligaments or connective tissues (called fundiform and suspensory ligaments, respectively) that also
anchor the external tissue of the penis to your body. Through surgery, this internal part is freed
and allows the penis to gain in length, both in flaccid state and in erect state. Once the surgery is
done successfully, you will notice that even in the flaccid state, your penis may be 2 3 centimeters
longer. Even if it is limp, there will be a noticeable increase in its length. When it is erect, you can
expect further good results. After surgery, you can expect to have a cicatricial retraction. During
normal healing, scarring occurs that at times can cause the tissues to contract. This contraction is
controlled by a counterweight until the shaft has completely healed. Concerns have been raised

Benefits of Animal Experimentation
Benefits of Animal Experimentation Animal Experimentation has been used for thousands of
years from early Greeks to modern day physicians. Animal Experimentation is not only
beneficial in gaining knowledge on diseases, but can also help to discover cures. Animal testing
is not a very new idea, and has been performed for a large portion of history. Some of the earliest
experiments can be traced back to early Greek physicians and scientist such as Aristotle and
Erasistratus who did tests on living animal subjects to find the differences between sensory nerves,
tendons, and motor nerves. All of these early procedures were performed without any type of pain
reliever or sedative used. In today s times, there are plenty of different anesthetics to be used to help
make these procedures easier for both an animal and the scientist. Later on, another Greek physician
named Galen used animal testingto advance multiple fields in medicine such as pathology, anatomy,
physiology, and pharmacology. In twelfth century Spain, Arab physician Ibn Zuhr used animal
testing as a new way for testing surgical procedures on animals before they were used on humans.
These tests and experiments went without question for many centuries, until recently when these
practices came under question by many animals rights groups. Animal testing is also used to test
new pharmaceutical drugs before they are released to the public. If these tests aren t done
catastrophe may ensue. In 1937 a new drug was created

Analysis Of Man On The Moon
Man On the Moon
When man first walked on the moon it was a very big accomplishment for mankind especially the
U.S.A., many people wrote articles or simply talked about and shared their opinions on this huge
accomplishment. In the text that appeared on Times magazine titled, Man Takes First Steps on the
Moon , one can see how much of an accomplishment it was for the U.S and many other people to
have been able to walk on the moon. In the text ethos and logos are used a few times to be able
to make a more possibly effective text on people reading the article and be able to show how
much of a huge deal this was for mankind. The following sentence is the first sentence in the
paragraph which says a lot about what the text is going to go towards, Neil Armstrong became the
first man to take a walk on the moon s surface early today. , seeing that the first sentence is about
how a man walked on the moon it shows most likely the rest of the text will be based around or
on this man s actions. The next sentence shows how many people including the president and
pope expressed how it was a huge accomplishment for mankind for a man to walk on the moon
and make it back to Earth safely, At Castelgandolfo the Pope greeted news of the lunar landing by
exclaiming: Glory to God in the highest and peace on earth to men of goodwill! , it makes sure to
state it is the pope talking about the moon landing.
In the second text by William Safire instead of talking about how the moon landing

Nature of the Mind Essay
William Blake, a poet that strongly believed in the power of mind, once wrote, if we see with
imagination, we see all things in the infinite. The Romantic poets use their imagination when
gazing at nature, and therefore see and feel the infinite through their poetry. William Wordsworth
expresses the serene beauty that nature possesses and its calming effects on the mind. Samuel
Taylor Coleridge, one of the poetic geniuses of the age, uses nature and his imagination to create
surreal atmospheres. Another Romantic poet, by the name of Percy Bysshe Shelley, shows great
longing for the freedom that nature possesses and the freeing effect it has on him. These poets of
the Romantic period look at nature from a higher consciousness... Show more content on

He expresses the mind s ability to take a beautiful scene and create a calm and content feeling
throughout his thoughts. Samuel Taylor Coleridge uses nature as a catalyst to search deeper
into his mind and discover the surreal creativity of his own imagination. This Lime Tree Bower
My Prison depicts an out of body vision that encompasses a breathtaking vista of green
mountains and purple flowers from the eyes of an imaginer. Gazing at it with swimming sense,
the picture becomes less gross than bodily, causing the swirling colors to form something only
found in the divine. However surreal this picture is, nothing can compare to Cloleridge s vision
in Kubla Khan. In this poem he uses nature s creations to depict unnatural scenes. In caverns
measureless to man, Kubla Khan wants to build a sunny pleasure dome with caves of ice. Such a
place is only real in the imagination and in the written word, which is why this poem seems so
tangible to the eye. He comes across these imaginary visions while meandering with a mazy
motion through wood and dale, where these thoughts come alive. It explains through alliteration
how walking through wooded paths, accompanied only by one s mind, one comes upon new
feelings and thoughts that are only palpable in that wood. Nature inspires Samuel Coleridge to
exorcise his mind s eye and create a heavenly atmosphere. Percy Bysshe Shelley looks up to

Gender Equality And Gender Discrimination Essay
Gender equality? Is it really a time in modern day age when women are considered to be equal to
men or do women still have a long way to go? Throughout history men have been the dominant
gender and women have been thought to be less than the man. Men have held positions of power
and authority while women have hidden in the shadows of men. In the 21st century, women have
made great strides in attempts to be treated equally as men but are still treated differently. This
modern day society believes genderequality exists but in reality, there is clearly an inequality
amongst people creating negative stereotype gender roles, sexually degrading and gender
discrimination towards women. The 21st century has seen a dramatic shift in traditional family
dynamics and has pulled apart gender role divisions. During World War II men dutifully joined
the military and women went to work in the factories, taking on occupations that were traditionally
held by men. When the war ended, women returned to their traditional roles as wives and mothers
(Winograd, 2016). Women began to realize that they too, can carry out roles of the men. As the
years began to change so did the thoughts and ideas of women. Women now believe that men and
women should be treated as equals, and women have every right to be in the position of traditional
men roles. Winograd (2016) explains that women are refusing to accept any restrictions based on
their gender...on what they might be allowed to do and what

Asad s Theory Of White Norm And The Ku Klux Klan
White supremacy is a term that is traditionally defined as the belief that white people are superior
to those of all other races, especially the black race, and should therefore dominate society. White
supremacy is a deep seeded ideology that, throughout history, has impacted religion, theocracy and
the structure of our organizations. Although Christianity isn t inherently white supremacy, white
supremacy can be analyzed as a religious event, as it involves the power that is synonymous with
religion and the liminal state of traditional rites of passage. This paper will explain Asad s theory
of power, summarize Turner s account of liminality, and analyze white supremacy and the Ku Klux
Klan(KKK) using these two theoretical models.
White supremacy originated in the mid fifteenth century when the European powers began taking
African people as slaves in their quest for power and land. However, it wasn t until the late
eighteenth century when the theological association of Christianity and whiteness allowed white
supremacy to take on the cultural values consistent in Asad and Turner s theories. White supremacy
then became institutionally perpetuated and began to impact every facet of life. White supremacy
has been used to rationalize genocide, enslavement and prejudice. The Ku Klux Klan also became a
representation of white supremacy. The Ku Klux Klan saw its primary goal as the reestablishment
of white supremacy which became directly linked to white Protestant

Webb is a Muslim woman who servers on the Philadelphia Police Department. Webb asked

population of woman grow beards. It could also be found to be discriminatory against African
American men since most of a medical condition that is painful when they shave. (b) Bank does

A Beautiful Mind Analysis
Introduction
When watching A Beautiful Mind, it is hard for viewers to understand who is real and who is
imaginary until the truth is revealed. That is, in essence, what it would be like to live in the mind
of John Nash. A Beautiful Mind, directed by Ron Howard and originally based on a biography by
Sylvia Nasar, tells the story of John Forbes Nash Jr., a Nobel Peace Prize winner and a recognized
American mathematician with schizophrenia. The main ethical dilemma, which isn t introduced
until the latter part of the movie, concerns Nash discontinuing his medication. If he discontinues his
medications, his illusions will come back. The dilemma is whether it is ethically acceptable to let
Nash discontinue his medication and continue to live at home or whether he should be hospitalized.
The ethical dilemma presented in the movie impacts the characters in various ways, and the
methods used to solve the dilemma exposes ethical principles that are being abused and, oppositely,
positive principles used by the characters that are attempting to help Nash.
Summary of the content before the Dilemma
The first part of A Beautiful Mindintroduces Nash and his unique way of thinking. It explains his
initial breakthrough in mathematical theories and how he met his wife. In addition, his
imaginative characters played a major role in his actions throughout the movie and can be easily
thought of as realistic people by viewers until his condition is revealed. An example of one of Nash s

After sending her last text to Nichole, Parker went straight back to Tumblr. Only glancing up when

shorter than herself. Magenta colored hair was what really caught her attention. It reminded Parker
of Nichole. Parker continued to watch the three girls, sort of enticed by the magenta haired girl.
One day all four of us will come here together and we will finally get to meet her, one of the girls

new and exciting casino games were popularised, bingo would fade in to the background, with

mature audience, which sadly hampered its progress in the decades to come.
In the 1990s the world as we know it would change, the Internet would arrive and introduce the era
of the information age. The ushering in of this new era would not only change the way people
behave, but it would shake the foundations of the bingo industry. Taking bingo out of land based

The reason why it has become so popular is because it represented the evolution of the game.
Those who chose to play online were now no longer limited by a small selection of games, as all

Rogoff s Angels in America, Devils in the Wings is an article that s decidedly critical of the
Broadway production of Tony Kushner s Angels in America: Millennium Approaches. He
begins his critique with as one who lives a life rather than a lifestyle, I m not sure what a gay
play, let alone a gay fantasia might be (21). As one who lives a life rather than a lifestyle myself,
I find this opening to the essay to conjure linguistic maneuvers of the conservative right used to
dismiss the grievances of gay men. While I may be going out on a limb in this analysis, most
often the binary life vs. lifestyle is code for heterosexual vs. homosexual in short, gays and
lesbians don t live lives but rather we live lifestyles. Ours are mockeries of real lives, thus
requiring the supplemental style. Rogoff is not sure what a gay play...might be. In truth, this is
no easy question, and there are no easy answers to it. Are the plays of Tennessee Williams, such as
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and The Glass Menagerie gay plays, since the author was gay? Or do only
his later works qualify as gay plays, as they focused specifically on gay material? Are any of the
plays of William Shakespeare gay plays, for that matter? Or is this an appellation reserved for post
Stonewall, politically oriented gay plays? These could potentially be very

Christian Symbolism and Chivalric Ideals in Sir Gawain and...
Upon first Reading Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, I noticed that it comes off as a romantic
normative poem about chivalric ideals and traditions of the ruling class with covertly Christian
Images. The protagonist character Sir Gawain stands out as the role model of the chivalric ideals of
the 14th century while displaying Christian images on his armor. The combination of Gawain s
armor and actions throughout the poem exemplify his characteristics of Christian perfection and
chivalric ideals. The very first scene with Bertilak of Hautdesert known as the Green Knight begins
to mold your perception of how chivalrous Sir Gawain is by portraying him as valiant, humble, and
virtuous knight to Arthur. I felt that the interruption of Arthur... Show more content on

Even the armor without the pentangle had a religious importance in medieval literature because
to be adorned in armor was to be strengthened in the lord, in the might of his power ... [and with]
the armor of God that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil (Green 126),
which comes into play when Bertilak s wife tries to seduce Gawain. In this instance Bertilak is
representative of the devil and he is using his wife to test Gawain to see if he would commit
sodomy and break his religious and knightly code. This scene is extremely important since he has
been divested of his armor, relived of his helmet, horse and his coat (Ashton 60), basically
everything physical that reminds him of his faith. However, even without his armor being a
constant reminder of his faith and honor he proves he is truly faithful and chivalrous by turning
down Bertilak s wife. To get a better understanding of the meaning and importance of the pentangle
we must analyze the author s description of the meaning of it or lack thereof. The author does give
examples of the meanings of the symbol being explained as Gawain being faithful in five ways
which he describes. However, the author doesn t tell us what he means when he talks about the
things we call meaning (Arthur 221), this gives the assumption that either at the time readers would
have already known the meaning in the time period it was

Strong, Independent And Hardworking
Strong, independent and hardworking. All words I would use to describe my Mum. Ever since
she was young she did her best and put effort into everything that she set her mind to. Eleven
years younger than her youngest sibling, the way she grew up was a lot different to the way her
older siblings had. This explains her independence. She may have had four siblings looking after
her in her primary years but by the time she had started intermediate school, it was just her. The
others had all gone off and had their own kids. After her father left and her mother became ill, the
only person she could count on was herself and that idea still sticks with her today. She was like a

Around the house she walks around in her classic black Canterbury track pants, holes in the
knees and faded writing, alongside them she wears casual t shirts, never the same one twice. It s
always like this at home because as she says, What s the point? I m not going anywhere! But as
soon as she has to leave the house it s always out with the skinny jeans and the hair straightener.
As most people do, she has grown emotionally stronger. Married at twenty two for thirteen years
to a man who others warned against. Over the course of those years she was broken down
emotionally. Cheated on, stolen from and lied to constantly. The decision she made to end the
marriage and gain full custody of us kids was the formation of who she is today. If she hadn t
made that decision she would still be a lonely, fragile woman because of who her husband was
turning her into. Once that had happened she became strong. She made the choice to never let
anyone push her around as she quite scrupulously points out when she s pissed off at someone.
Anytime I come home I will always see Mum doing the same thing. She ll be sitting in her late
mother s big red recliner, dog in her lap, watching some old T.V show from the nineties and
usually she ll be knitting something. Most of the time it s a self less deed for someone else as
per usual. Every time I get home she asks how my day was and what I got up to in an enthusiastic

Reflection About Fun Home
Fun Home is a Modern musical based on the graphic novel of the same name. Until this class I
was not familiar with this show. I had heard about it in passing but had never heard any of the
music, did not know the plot line, and I did not know the origins. When I heard that it had won a
Tony, I knew it had to be good but I was still a little skeptical since I did not know much about it.
However, once I saw it I can say that I was not disappointed. It had some great lessons that most
of us can take away even if we do not agree with the context of the lessons. For the most part, the
actors did a phenomenal job, and there were some insane vocals. The lightingand stage design were
great. All of this was topped off with some great music. To... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

She nailed that role. One of the parts that hit me hardest was when she was telling college age
Alison to not come back home again because she did not want her to waist her life like she had.
What made it so powerful for me was how the actress took that pause right after she said don t
come back. It made me think that the mother was mad at Alison because of her being lesbian, but
then she finished the thought and the true message came through. It was just incredible how much
weight can be put into one pause. The only person I was not a huge fan of was the actor who played
Roy. To start with he came on as four different characters over the course of the show. While I
know that is difficult to do it is by no means impossible, and he seemed to struggle with it. I think
the biggest issue that he was having was that all his characters seemed very immature and
almost childish. He did not seem to be able to switch very easily from being an adult to being a
high schooler so all his characters seemed to sit somewhere in the middle. This just made the
show feel off at some points which made me as an audience member feel kind of strange and
almost uncomfortable. Other than that, I thought the performance was very well done. Another
aspect of the show that I really liked was the music. Not all music is created equally, and just
because this show is a musical does not mean that the music is that great. However, this show
delivered on that front with flying colors. Every

Brock, Jeanette C. The Dream of the Rood and the Image of Christ in the Early Middle Ages.
Web. 18 July 2015. Jeanette Brock s article, The Dream of the Rood and the Image of Christ in
the Early Middle Ages, suggests that the author of Dream of the Rood had a missionary purpose to

The Discovery Of The Pahlavi Dynasty
The 1979 uprisings were aimed at getting rid of the Pahlavi dynasty which contained only two
kings, Reza Shah and Mohammed Reza Shah. Before the Pahlavi s, Iran was ruled by the Qajar
dynasty, and before that the Safavids. The safavids and Qajar s were responsible for two of the
most important aspects of Iran: The safavids made Shia Islam the official state religion in Iran,
starting with Ismail 1 in 1501, and the Qajar s gave the muslim clergy The ulema political
power. The first major revolution in Iran was in 1906. It forced the ruling Qajar s to accept a
constitution, it created a parliament and put some limits on the king. It ultimately failed party
because the clergy withdrew their support, partly because the Shah worked very actively against
it, and the Russian and the British worked to keep Persia weak so they could continue to try to
dominate the region. After WW1, Europeans rivalries heated up because of the discovery of oil in
the Middle East. The British established Iranian Oil company and they helped to engineer the
change in dynasty by supporting military commander Reza Khan. Later on Reza Khan became
Shah and he attempted to turn Persia, which he re named Iran 1935, into a modern, secular, western
style state. Reza Shahis remembered for his dictatorial repression, which led the clergy against
him. During WW2 Reza Shah abdicated and his young son Mohammad Reza Shah became the

production support teams. The implementation started with lot of training for Scrum. Not only
we hired trained scrum masters, we sponsored a lot of technical as well as business leaders to

the key aspect to make Agile transformation successful. There was multiple mandatory training

Analysis Of The Book Deaf By Mark Drolsbaugh
In 1997, Mark Drolsbaugh printed a book titled Deaf Again. In this book, Mark narrates his life
story from a hearing child to deaf adult and all of his hardships. Mark was a hearing child born
to deaf parents. As he matured, his hearing began to worsen and soon he was labeled as deaf,
communicating became harder. He would make mistakes in class and be ridiculed for it. He did
not understand the reason for the ridicule and eventually stopped putting effort in his studies. A
pediatrician told his parents to look into speech therapy and hearing aids for him. His parents felt
he would be happier if he connected more with his hearing side than subject him to a life ruled by
his disability. However, his parents were fluent in ASL and regularly communicated with each other
by signing. His guardians felt being taught to sign would hinder his development. As he aged, he
experienced a larger disconnect from the hearing world, resulting in an isolating feeling. Eventually
Mark learned ASL and gradually let the Deaf culturebecome a bigger part of his life. As his
involvement in the Deaf culture grew he found a comradery that he had never had before. Soon, he
began to see the value that came from communication and relationships with others above all else.
Mark mentions how his parents decided against teach him to sign when he was a child. This was
because they felt it would be hindrance to his speech development and limit his educational
progress. This is a common occurrence in the

doctor to do his job interferes with his obligations to his patient. It may also give the patient the
idea that since they gave their doctor a gift, that the doctor now is in a sort debt to them. This
debt would of course need to be paid in the form of extra attention to the patient. If the debt is not

may lead the patient to hurt the doctor in ways he or she does not deserve. It could lead to the

Marketing Anti Depressants: Prozac and Paxil
Introduction:
The expiration of Prozac s patent necessitates swift, defensive action from all companies in the
SSRI industry. As generics enter the market, demand for more expensive, branded medications will
fall as price sensitive consumers switch to the cheaper alternatives. Additionally, incident prices on
consumers themselves, in the form of copayments, will rise as insurance companies pressure their
constituents to switch to more cost effective offerings. To overcome these obstacles, we
recommend the following to both GSK and Lily:
1. A decisive repositioning of the brand to emphasize its advantages over market substitutes.
2. The rapid deployment of new inclinations to support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, Lily should put heavy emphasis on their new, weekly variant of Prozac. Additionally,
following the introduction of generics, Prozac should focus its marketing strategy around PMMD.
Basis for Recommendation:
The population of people suffering from the two adds up to 9.3 million Americans (minus overlap
for people who suffer from both), about 6.5% of the adult population in America (Exhibit 5). With
the incredible versatility Paxil has had treating various conditions, these two aforementioned
conditions, both relatively new, have not gotten the attention from GSK that it really should
garner given the fact that no other company can attract people in this state. GSK must look to re
position itself as a figure head, a trailblazer in the field of SAD and GAD to build a strong market
share now and develop brand loyalty to off set, as best they can, the impending downturn brought on
by future generics for the product.
Based on the regression we conducted using data from Exibit 12 , we believe that DTC advertising
presents an effective way to increase both company s bottom lines. Looking at the data for
prescription drugs, a $1 million investment will, on average, yield a $14.6 million increase in
sales for the product alone. That is a pretty sizeable increase and the model proves that there is a
strong correlation between DTC advertising and sales. This does seem reasonable, especially given
the companies proclivity toward

we see the similar theme of prejudice. Othello and Fanny Price are both seen as outsiders that are
judged by the people around them that are close to them. They are judged different ways
throughout the novel.
Othello and Fanny Price are being prejudiced because of their appearance. Othello is judged

Bilbo Baggins is defined as a hero because he saves the dwarves from the gigantic spiders in a
pitch black forest, rescues them from the Elvenking s grasp, and bravely takes an extremely
precious jewel, that the dwarves have been searching for, and gave it to the elves and lake men to
use as a bargain tool to prevent them from fighting the dwarves.
Finding out that his friends were getting captured by gigantic spiders left Bilbo something else to
worry about besides lack of food and water. His heroic self came out again as he used himself as a
decoy, or bait, to lure the spiders far away from the dwarves so he can have time to free the
dwarves later. He used himself once more to help the dwarves run to a safe place while the
spiders were slowly closing in on them. This shows that Bilbo is self sacrificing and would do
anything to keep his friends which is an impotent trait for a hero to have.
Bilbo became a hero once more when the dwarves were captured by the elvenking and sentenced to
jail until they can tell him why they were venturing into his forest. Bilbo used a ring

head of the reform for the new calendar, in his speech Report on the Republican Era, gave us a
couple reasons of why the old calendar should change. He stated that it was used to mark

Core Principles Values Of Effective Team Based Health Care
In their discussion paper Core principles values of effective team based health care , Mitchell et al
(2012), identified mutual trust in teams as one of 5 principles of effective team based healthcare.
Within healthcare though there are numerous examples of where a and abuse of trust,
misplacement of trustor a culture of distrust, have adversely impacted on patient care as
documented in the Shipman Inquiry (2005); the Francis Report (2010) and the Bristol Royal
Infirmary Inquiry (2001).
To examine the issue of why trust is important for effective team working in healthcare, the author
will begin by reviewing definitions of trust, trustworthiness and the psychological approaches to
trust development before considering the potential impacts that trust has on team working and
performance. An overview of how trust can be nurtured and developed within the context of
healthcare teams will also identify the role of leaders in building a climate for trust to be developed.
Defining trust 723
Interpersonal trust was defined by Rousseau, Sitkin, Burt and Camerer (1998, p 395), as the
intention to accept vulnerability based upon positive expectations of the intentions or behaviour of
another. This link to vulnerability between trustor (the giving party) and trustee (the receiving
party) was also captured by Mayer et al. (1995 p. 712) who defined trust as the willingness of a
party to be vulnerable to the actions of another party based on the expectations that the other

Analysis Of The Cabbage Soup Diet
There are a variety of reasons why people suddenly feel the need to lose weight. Many have an
upcoming wedding, class reunion, or vacation that entices them to drop 10 pounds quickly. If you
have 7 days to prepare, then the Cabbage Soup Diet is something you may want to consider. This
high fiber, low fat diet is not appropriate for long term weight loss, but may begin a more sensible
eating plan.
The Cabbage Soup Diet limits your food intake to fruit, vegetables, cabbage, unsweetened
beverages and other low calorie foods. Three to five times more weight is lost in 7 days by this
particular diet. Other moderate diets can only demonstrate a loss of one pound per week with
physical exercise.
The recipe is rather simple and includes an array

Stained Glass Research Paper
History of Stained Glass Unlike the function of the ordinary windows that we know today, which
is to allow a view of the outside and admit light into a building; the purpose of medieval stained
glass windows is not to allow people to see outside, but to beautify buildings, control light, and
often times to tell a story (Herren, n.d.). History offers two accounts of the origin of glass; one from
a legend about the accidental discovery of glass by the Phoenician sailors and the second, points to
another accidental discovery of glass by the Egyptian or Mesopotamian potters (Stained Glass.org.).
Of the two positions, the Egyptian s origin was found to be more scientifically reliable (Stained
Glass.org.). Furthermore, the Egyptians were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It must be noted, however, that it was Theophilus, a twelfth century monk who gave us the first
detailed description of stain glass as an art form (History of Stained Glass, 2013). Stained glass, as
an art eventually became popular during the medieval period, Stained glass windows were created
for the Roman Catholic Church, and often told Bible stories in pictures. This was at a time
when most people couldn t read, so these luminous paintings were one of the few
representations of the glory and transcendent nature of their spiritual beliefs (History of Stained
Glass, 2013). During the reign of King Louis VI of France, Suger, the Abbott of Saint Denis
became the close advisor to the king. It was Suger strong allegiance to the king of France that
inspired him to create a new kind of architecture to reinforce the divine right of the king s
authority and enhance the spirituality of his church (Adams, 2011, p. 198). The metaphysics of
light in the Middle Ages led to clerical belief in its divinity and the importance of its display in
holy settings (Wikipedia,

The Early Stages of Psychology
The Early Stages of Psychology Philip C. Allen PSY/310 May 3, 2012 Shruthi Vale The Early
Stages of Psychology People have been searching for answers to life s problems since the dawn
of mankind. Humans would look to the stars for answers. They would look to nature for a cure.
They even looked toward the heavens for gods to cure their ailments. Not until recently did we, as
a race, begin to look toward ourselves to find solutions. We now know that we are capable of
tapping into our minds and understanding what lies at the root of our mental illnesses. Beginnings

Structuralism eventually died with Titchener (Cherry, 2012). Victorian Thomas Brown proposed
the study of the mind as the basic framework for most scientific efforts. He believed that before
any science could be taken seriously, the brain must be studied. Not only the physicality of the
brain, but also the workings of the mind and how it thinks (Wee, 2005). With Brown s proposal,
the majority of serious psychologists would no longer ignore the real world implications of
human experience and action when dealing with the functioning of the mind. In 1885, Herbert
Spencer published The Principles of Psychology. Spencer had a strong background in biology
and philosophy, therefore much of his writings were based solely on speculation, observation,
and philosophical ideals. Wee (2005), One of Spencer s most famous phrases was survival of
the fittest , which later formed the basis of a controversial branch of psychology/philosophy
called Social Darwinism (para. 4). Conclusion Since the days of Greek and French philosophers
and German physiologists, we have developed a sound science. We can delve deeper than ever
before. We see beyond the layers of our conscious mind. We can look into our past to raise
questions about our childhood and answer age old questions that were asked by unconscious. Today

Comparing Beowulf And Modern Hero s
Similarities Between Modern Hero s and Anglo Saxon Hero s
When you think of a hero or someone to look up to most adults and children think of heroes like
Spiderman and Superman, but heros come in many different shapes and sizes. What some people
don t realise is that there are heroes everywhere and anyone can be a hero. There are many
characteristics that set people apart from the average Joe to a hero. There are many differences
between Anglo Saxon heroes and modern day heros, but there are multiple similarities. Anglo
Saxon heroes such as Beowulf and modern heroes such as Charles Douglas Harris, and Omar
Grant have some kind of strength whether it is physically or mentally. They both have to be there
when someone needs help, and no matter what the circumstances are they have to be brave. If a
hero lacks in any of these areas they wouldn t even be considered a hero at all.
To be a great hero you have to be strong and be willing to fight anyone and anything. In Beowulf,
Beowulf was extremely physically strong, he showed his strength throughout the whole story, I
have heard moreover that the monster scorns in his reckless way to use weapons; therefore, to
heighten Hygelac s fame and gladden his heart, I hereby renounce sword and the shelter of the
broad shield, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

end up failing and dying. In an additional the article Charles Douglas Harris showed his strength
by fighting for our country and by moving on mentally from losing both of his legs in a roadside
bomb in Afghanistan.(Wounded soldier1, Para.1). Some heros don t know their capabilities till
they have to be strong for themselves other people. Without strength our weak and unable to finish
tasks properly, so its very important for a hero to be strong mentally and

Fukushima Nuclear Disaster Research Paper
Prevent Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Disaster
The most extreme way to produce power is by nuclear fission. They do this by splitting single
atoms, Nuclear Energy Institute states ?Nuclear power plants obtain the heat needed to produce
steam through a physical process. This process, called fission, entails the splitting of atoms of
uranium in a nuclear reactor. The uranium fuel consists of small, hard ceramic pellets that are
packaged in long, vertical tubes. Bundles of this fuel are inserted into the reactor.? Power
produced this way also has drawbacks. Producing this kind of power also produces an extreme
amount of heat. If the cooling system loses power the reactor temperature rises dangerously high
which will then release radiation, causing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reactor was overheating to the point it was emitting radioactive material. The Tokyo Energy
Power Company admitted that they failed to inspect thirty three cooling system equipment for the
six reactors about two weeks before the disaster (NYTimes.com).
The inspection was to see if the Tokyo Energy Power Company could extend the life of the reactors
or to shut them down, which the reactors failed the inspection, but the TEPCO decided to extend
the lives of the reactors according to the NY Times. The NY times also stated ?regulators said that
?maintenance management was inadequate? and that the ?quality of inspection was insufficient??
(nytimes.com).
The reactors one, two, and three were outdated and soon the rest of the reactors will be outdated.
NY Times talks about how the nuclear operators are deciding whether or not to expand the life of
the reactors since they are almost to the forty year statutory limit. All of the 18 reactors, which
includes the five at Fukushima and 13 more in Japan will turn forty years old in the next ten years

Waugh Presents Change Consistently as a Destructive Force...
Waugh presents change consistently as a destructive force in the novel To what extent do you
agree? Within the context of pastoral literature, change is typically seen as a destructive force,
intrinsic with the movement away from a harmony with the natural world towards modernisation
and corruption. In Brideshead Revisited the same pattern appears to be followed; moving from
the peaceful harmony of Sebastian and Charles life in Oxford into corruption and turmoil or the
shifting power balance between the social classes, from the nobility to the lower classes. However,
change is not exclusively a negative force in the novel. Charles and Sebastian s first encounter into
Rex s world of manipulation and smooth talk is shown to be... Show more content on

Looking beyond Hooper, the soldier s treatment of Brideshead adds to a sense of carelessness
and lack of awareness in the lower classes. The painting that Charles spent hours working on is
made absolute hay of , Charles created something of wonderful beauty, only to be destroyed by
unappreciative men; symbolic for the fate of Britain, in Waugh s eyes, in the hands of the Youth .
In respect of the changes Sebastian makes to Charles life, Waugh presents change as the antithesis
of destructive. Before Sebastian, Charles friends are described as grey figures , lifeless and
colourless boys whom scrambled fiercely for facts . Scrambled brings forth images of desperation,
fiercely for facts heightening the mocking tone of the description, as though they had nothing other
than facts to be passionate about. The first thing Waugh mentions about Sebastian, on the other
hand, is the magical day him and Charles lay underneath a tree in the country with the sweet scent
of tobacco merged with the sweet scents of summer around us and the fumes of the sweet, golden
wine lifting them a finger s breadth above the turf . The repetition of sweet makes this description
even more sensuous as it draws upon one s sense of taste and smells simultaneously, the heavy
sibilance in the phrase sweet scents making the

  • 2. The Birthmark, And Rappachini s Daughter, By Nathaniel... Nathaniel Hawthorne was a prominent 19th century American author who is widely regarded for his adequate contributions to revolutionizing modern day literature. In his three works: Young Goodman Brown, The Birthmark, and Rappachini s Daughter, Hawthorne uses a myriad of techniques and stylistic traits to portray ideologies and create interest within the readers. In his short stories, Hawthorne flawlessly conveys his erudition on modern themes of psychology and the human inclination to sin through his astute use of ambiguity and symbolism. In his stories, Hawthorne commonly wrote to explore the evil and sin within man. In his three short stories, symbolism ultimately attests to this. In Young Goodman Brown, Brown adventures into the forest... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Supported in his writing, Young Goodman Brown, readers are introduced to Brown, a character who seemingly finds Hawthorne s technique of otherworldly events. While adventuring through nature, Brown finds himself entrapped in the blending of the forest with the supernatural to depict the woods taking on a life of its own. From this Brown watches in horror as the devil throws the supernatural serpent shaped staff on the ground, causing it to come to life and slither into the obscurity of the forest. Hawthorne s technique is also found in his work The Birthmark. In his story, Hawthorne creates a supernatural element within the birthmark itself, as it creates the question on whether or not Georgianna is an angel or human. The birthmark, being the only human feature, is the only factor keeping Georgianna attached to reality. When the birthmark is removed, the only attachment to reality is broken and Georgina is taken up into heaven, the only pure place in existence. Finally, readers are presented with Hawthorne s story, Rappaccini s daughter. Beatrice, Hawthorne s physical embodiment of the supernatural element, is first depicted in an enclosed and isolated garden. Though, Beatrice may not dead or inhuman, she possesses a unique and distinct quality, a poisonous touch. Presented through the story, whatever she touches dies and even her very breath kills any living creature near her. From this, Hawthorne leaves readers with a sense of ambiguity with such otherworldly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Food In Korean Food A few days ago, a friend invited me and a five other people over to her house, as her parents wanted to cook us a home cooked meal. The dining table had a total of six chairs, including the host s. I noticed that the spacing between the chairs were relatively of close distance, showing how Meals identify social boundaries surrounding familiarity with people, and these are articulated around ideas of people s intimacy and distance (Crowther 161). An elaborate plate of foodwas set out for each guest, as her parents had cooked us steak with roasted potatoes, grilled asparagus, corn, a piece of bread, as well as a dish of cream spaghetti. There was also sparkling water and regular water to drink along with the meal. For all of the guests, this meal was especially enjoyable because we were all students dorming in college, so we had not eaten a home cooked meal in a long time. This can be reconnected to the topic of commensality, as The sharing of food reinforces ties, forges new memories, and allows people to reflect on the importance of eating together (Crowther 151). In Korean culture, it is respectable for the guests to help set the table with the necessary utensils, as it also shows the parents that we are appreciative of the meal. Right as the plate of food was set on the table, everyone began to take out their phones, waiting to capture pictures of the food. As all the guests were females, it was interesting to see how social media is involved, even in the ordinary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Afterward, he sets out to take down the mal purposed software and Blume, the company behind it. To accomplish this, he enlists with the hacktivist group DedSec and takes on a variety of missions in and around San Francisco. While first playing the game, I noticed how different it felt from the original entry in the series. Instead of opening with cut scenes of a digital heist gone wrong followed by the traumatic death of the main character s niece, the game starts off by tasking the player to break into a guarded server farm while fun electronic music plays in the background. They even throw in a Mission Impossible reference in the first lines of dialogue when a mysterious digitally altered voice says: Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to bypass Blume s security doors and get inside (Watch Dogs 2). You need to consider how the surgery will be done, how it can affect you, etc. Bigger and better manhood is what most men desire to achieve. There are various methods that are available to use in increasing penis size. One method that can probably provide the best outcome within the shortest amount of time is male enhancement surgery or phalloplasty. Since this is an invasive process, you need to consider it carefully. Below are some important details about this method that can help you in your decision making. Inside your body, there are still about 8 10 centimeters of the penis (the length depends on your lineage; for an average American, it is about 13 centimeters). There is a cavity inside your body through which the remaining penile length hangs from your pubic bone. It is suspended by two ligaments or connective tissues (called fundiform and suspensory ligaments, respectively) that also anchor the external tissue of the penis to your body. Through surgery, this internal part is freed and allows the penis to gain in length, both in flaccid state and in erect state. Once the surgery is done successfully, you will notice that even in the flaccid state, your penis may be 2 3 centimeters longer. Even if it is limp, there will be a noticeable increase in its length. When it is erect, you can expect further good results. After surgery, you can expect to have a cicatricial retraction. During normal healing, scarring occurs that at times can cause the tissues to contract. This contraction is controlled by a counterweight until the shaft has completely healed. • 6. Benefits of Animal Experimentation Benefits of Animal Experimentation Animal Experimentation has been used for thousands of years from early Greeks to modern day physicians. Animal Experimentation is not only beneficial in gaining knowledge on diseases, but can also help to discover cures. Animal testing is not a very new idea, and has been performed for a large portion of history. Some of the earliest experiments can be traced back to early Greek physicians and scientist such as Aristotle and Erasistratus who did tests on living animal subjects to find the differences between sensory nerves, tendons, and motor nerves. All of these early procedures were performed without any type of pain reliever or sedative used. In today s times, there are plenty of different anesthetics to be used to help make these procedures easier for both an animal and the scientist. Later on, another Greek physician named Galen used animal testingto advance multiple fields in medicine such as pathology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology. In twelfth century Spain, Arab physician Ibn Zuhr used animal testing as a new way for testing surgical procedures on animals before they were used on humans. These tests and experiments went without question for many centuries, until recently when these practices came under question by many animals rights groups. Animal testing is also used to test new pharmaceutical drugs before they are released to the public. If these tests aren t done catastrophe may ensue. In 1937 a new drug was created ... In the text that appeared on Times magazine titled, Man Takes First Steps on the Moon , one can see how much of an accomplishment it was for the U.S and many other people to have been able to walk on the moon. In the text ethos and logos are used a few times to be able to make a more possibly effective text on people reading the article and be able to show how much of a huge deal this was for mankind. The following sentence is the first sentence in the paragraph which says a lot about what the text is going to go towards, Neil Armstrong became the first man to take a walk on the moon s surface early today. , seeing that the first sentence is about how a man walked on the moon it shows most likely the rest of the text will be based around or on this man s actions. The next sentence shows how many people including the president and pope expressed how it was a huge accomplishment for mankind for a man to walk on the moon and make it back to Earth safely, At Castelgandolfo the Pope greeted news of the lunar landing by exclaiming: Glory to God in the highest and peace on earth to men of goodwill! , it makes sure to state it is the pope talking about the moon landing. The Romantic poets use their imagination when gazing at nature, and therefore see and feel the infinite through their poetry. William Wordsworth expresses the serene beauty that nature possesses and its calming effects on the mind. Samuel Taylor Coleridge, one of the poetic geniuses of the age, uses nature and his imagination to create surreal atmospheres. Another Romantic poet, by the name of Percy Bysshe Shelley, shows great longing for the freedom that nature possesses and the freeing effect it has on him. He expresses the mind s ability to take a beautiful scene and create a calm and content feeling throughout his thoughts. Samuel Taylor Coleridge uses nature as a catalyst to search deeper into his mind and discover the surreal creativity of his own imagination. This Lime Tree Bower My Prison depicts an out of body vision that encompasses a breathtaking vista of green mountains and purple flowers from the eyes of an imaginer. Gazing at it with swimming sense, the picture becomes less gross than bodily, causing the swirling colors to form something only found in the divine. However surreal this picture is, nothing can compare to Cloleridge s vision in Kubla Khan. In this poem he uses nature s creations to depict unnatural scenes. In caverns measureless to man, Kubla Khan wants to build a sunny pleasure dome with caves of ice. Such a place is only real in the imagination and in the written word, which is why this poem seems so tangible to the eye. He comes across these imaginary visions while meandering with a mazy motion through wood and dale, where these thoughts come alive. It explains through alliteration how walking through wooded paths, accompanied only by one s mind, one comes upon new feelings and thoughts that are only palpable in that wood. Nature inspires Samuel Coleridge to exorcise his mind s eye and create a heavenly atmosphere. Percy Bysshe Shelley looks up to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Gender Equality And Gender Discrimination Essay Gender equality? Is it really a time in modern day age when women are considered to be equal to men or do women still have a long way to go? Throughout history men have been the dominant gender and women have been thought to be less than the man. Men have held positions of power and authority while women have hidden in the shadows of men. In the 21st century, women have made great strides in attempts to be treated equally as men but are still treated differently. This modern day society believes genderequality exists but in reality, there is clearly an inequality amongst people creating negative stereotype gender roles, sexually degrading and gender discrimination towards women. The 21st century has seen a dramatic shift in traditional family dynamics and has pulled apart gender role divisions. During World War II men dutifully joined the military and women went to work in the factories, taking on occupations that were traditionally held by men. When the war ended, women returned to their traditional roles as wives and mothers (Winograd, 2016). Women began to realize that they too, can carry out roles of the men. As the years began to change so did the thoughts and ideas of women. Women now believe that men and women should be treated as equals, and women have every right to be in the position of traditional men roles. Winograd (2016) explains that women are refusing to accept any restrictions based on their gender...on what they might be allowed to do and what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Asad s Theory Of White Norm And The Ku Klux Klan White supremacy is a term that is traditionally defined as the belief that white people are superior to those of all other races, especially the black race, and should therefore dominate society. White supremacy is a deep seeded ideology that, throughout history, has impacted religion, theocracy and the structure of our organizations. Although Christianity isn t inherently white supremacy, white supremacy can be analyzed as a religious event, as it involves the power that is synonymous with religion and the liminal state of traditional rites of passage. This paper will explain Asad s theory of power, summarize Turner s account of liminality, and analyze white supremacy and the Ku Klux Klan(KKK) using these two theoretical models. White supremacy originated in the mid fifteenth century when the European powers began taking African people as slaves in their quest for power and land. However, it wasn t until the late eighteenth century when the theological association of Christianity and whiteness allowed white supremacy to take on the cultural values consistent in Asad and Turner s theories. White supremacy then became institutionally perpetuated and began to impact every facet of life. White supremacy has been used to rationalize genocide, enslavement and prejudice. The Ku Klux Klan also became a representation of white supremacy. The Ku Klux Klan saw its primary goal as the reestablishment of white supremacy which became directly linked to white Protestant ... In the 1990s the world as we know it would change, the Internet would arrive and introduce the era of the information age. As one who lives a life rather than a lifestyle myself, I find this opening to the essay to conjure linguistic maneuvers of the conservative right used to dismiss the grievances of gay men. While I may be going out on a limb in this analysis, most often the binary life vs. lifestyle is code for heterosexual vs. homosexual in short, gays and lesbians don t live lives but rather we live lifestyles. Ours are mockeries of real lives, thus requiring the supplemental style. Rogoff is not sure what a gay play...might be. In truth, this is no easy question, and there are no easy answers to it. Are the plays of Tennessee Williams, such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and The Glass Menagerie gay plays, since the author was gay? Or do only his later works qualify as gay plays, as they focused specifically on gay material? Are any of the plays of William Shakespeare gay plays, for that matter? • 23. Christian Symbolism and Chivalric Ideals in Sir Gawain and... Upon first Reading Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, I noticed that it comes off as a romantic normative poem about chivalric ideals and traditions of the ruling class with covertly Christian Images. The protagonist character Sir Gawain stands out as the role model of the chivalric ideals of the 14th century while displaying Christian images on his armor. The combination of Gawain s armor and actions throughout the poem exemplify his characteristics of Christian perfection and chivalric ideals. The very first scene with Bertilak of Hautdesert known as the Green Knight begins to mold your perception of how chivalrous Sir Gawain is by portraying him as valiant, humble, and virtuous knight to Arthur. [and with] the armor of God that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil (Green 126), which comes into play when Bertilak s wife tries to seduce Gawain. In this instance Bertilak is representative of the devil and he is using his wife to test Gawain to see if he would commit sodomy and break his religious and knightly code. This scene is extremely important since he has been divested of his armor, relived of his helmet, horse and his coat (Ashton 60), basically everything physical that reminds him of his faith. However, even without his armor being a constant reminder of his faith and honor he proves he is truly faithful and chivalrous by turning down Bertilak s wife. To get a better understanding of the meaning and importance of the pentangle we must analyze the author s description of the meaning of it or lack thereof. The author does give examples of the meanings of the symbol being explained as Gawain being faithful in five ways which he describes. It made me think that the mother was mad at Alison because of her being lesbian, but then she finished the thought and the true message came through. It was just incredible how much weight can be put into one pause. The only person I was not a huge fan of was the actor who played Roy. To start with he came on as four different characters over the course of the show. While I know that is difficult to do it is by no means impossible, and he seemed to struggle with it. As he matured, his hearing began to worsen and soon he was labeled as deaf, communicating became harder. He would make mistakes in class and be ridiculed for it. • 43. Core Principles Values Of Effective Team Based Health Care In their discussion paper Core principles values of effective team based health care , Mitchell et al (2012), identified mutual trust in teams as one of 5 principles of effective team based healthcare. Within healthcare though there are numerous examples of where a and abuse of trust, misplacement of trustor a culture of distrust, have adversely impacted on patient care as documented in the Shipman Inquiry (2005); the Francis Report (2010) and the Bristol Royal Infirmary Inquiry (2001). To examine the issue of why trust is important for effective team working in healthcare, the author will begin by reviewing definitions of trust, trustworthiness and the psychological approaches to trust development before considering the potential impacts that trust has on team working and performance. An overview of how trust can be nurtured and developed within the context of healthcare teams will also identify the role of leaders in building a climate for trust to be developed. Defining trust 723 Interpersonal trust was defined by Rousseau, Sitkin, Burt and Camerer (1998, p 395), as the intention to accept vulnerability based upon positive expectations of the intentions or behaviour of another. This link to vulnerability between trustor (the giving party) and trustee (the receiving party) was also captured by Mayer et al. (1995 p. 712) who defined trust as the willingness of a party to be vulnerable to the actions of another party based on the expectations that the other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stained Glass Research Paper History of Stained Glass Unlike the function of the ordinary windows that we know today, which is to allow a view of the outside and admit light into a building; the purpose of medieval stained glass windows is not to allow people to see outside, but to beautify buildings, control light, and often times to tell a story (Herren, n.d.). History offers two accounts of the origin of glass; one from a legend about the accidental discovery of glass by the Phoenician sailors and the second, points to another accidental discovery of glass by the Egyptian or Mesopotamian potters (Stained Glass.org.). Of the two positions, the Egyptian s origin was found to be more scientifically reliable (Stained Glass.org.). Furthermore, the Egyptians were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was at a time when most people couldn t read, so these luminous paintings were one of the few representations of the glory and transcendent nature of their spiritual beliefs (History of Stained Glass, 2013). During the reign of King Louis VI of France, Suger, the Abbott of Saint Denis became the close advisor to the king. It was Suger strong allegiance to the king of France that inspired him to create a new kind of architecture to reinforce the divine right of the king s authority and enhance the spirituality of his church (Adams, 2011, p. 198). Allen PSY/310 May 3, 2012 Shruthi Vale The Early Stages of Psychology People have been searching for answers to life s problems since the dawn of mankind. Humans would look to the stars for answers. They would look to nature for a cure. They even looked toward the heavens for gods to cure their ailments. Not until recently did we, as a race, begin to look toward ourselves to find solutions. We now know that we are capable of tapping into our minds and understanding what lies at the root of our mental illnesses. Beginnings Psychologyis still in its infancy when compared with... Victorian Thomas Brown proposed the study of the mind as the basic framework for most scientific efforts. He believed that before any science could be taken seriously, the brain must be studied. Not only the physicality of the brain, but also the workings of the mind and how it thinks (Wee, 2005). With Brown s proposal, the majority of serious psychologists would no longer ignore the real world implications of human experience and action when dealing with the functioning of the mind. In 1885, Herbert Spencer published The Principles of Psychology. Spencer had a strong background in biology and philosophy, therefore much of his writings were based solely on speculation, observation, and philosophical ideals. Wee (2005), One of Spencer s most famous phrases was survival of the fittest , which later formed the basis of a controversial branch of psychology/philosophy called Social Darwinism (para. 4). Conclusion Since the days of Greek and French philosophers and German physiologists, we have developed a sound science. We can delve deeper than ever before. We see beyond the layers of our conscious mind. We can look into our past to raise questions about our childhood and answer age old questions that were asked by unconscious. Today s ... What some people don t realise is that there are heroes everywhere and anyone can be a hero. There are many characteristics that set people apart from the average Joe to a hero. There are many differences between Anglo Saxon heroes and modern day heros, but there are multiple similarities. Anglo Saxon heroes such as Beowulf and modern heroes such as Charles Douglas Harris, and Omar Grant have some kind of strength whether it is physically or mentally. They both have to be there when someone needs help, and no matter what the circumstances are they have to be brave. If a hero lacks in any of these areas they wouldn t even be considered a hero at all. To be a great hero you have to be strong and be willing to fight anyone and anything. They do this by splitting single atoms, Nuclear Energy Institute states ?Nuclear power plants obtain the heat needed to produce steam through a physical process. This process, called fission, entails the splitting of atoms of uranium in a nuclear reactor. The uranium fuel consists of small, hard ceramic pellets that are packaged in long, vertical tubes. • 49. Waugh Presents Change Consistently as a Destructive Force... Waugh presents change consistently as a destructive force in the novel To what extent do you agree? Within the context of pastoral literature, change is typically seen as a destructive force, intrinsic with the movement away from a harmony with the natural world towards modernisation and corruption. In Brideshead Revisited the same pattern appears to be followed; moving from the peaceful harmony of Sebastian and Charles life in Oxford into corruption and turmoil or the shifting power balance between the social classes, from the nobility to the lower classes. However, change is not exclusively a negative force in the novel. Charles and Sebastian s first encounter into Rex s world of manipulation and smooth talk is shown to be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking beyond Hooper, the soldier s treatment of Brideshead adds to a sense of carelessness and lack of awareness in the lower classes. The painting that Charles spent hours working on is made absolute hay of , Charles created something of wonderful beauty, only to be destroyed by unappreciative men; symbolic for the fate of Britain, in Waugh s eyes, in the hands of the Youth . In respect of the changes Sebastian makes to Charles life, Waugh presents change as the antithesis of destructive. Before Sebastian, Charles friends are described as grey figures , lifeless and colourless boys whom scrambled fiercely for facts . Scrambled brings forth images of desperation, fiercely for facts heightening the mocking tone of the description, as though they had nothing other than facts to be passionate about. The first thing Waugh mentions about Sebastian, on the other hand, is the magical day him and Charles lay underneath a tree in the country with the sweet scent of tobacco merged with the sweet scents of summer around us and the fumes of the sweet, golden wine lifting them a finger s breadth above the turf . The repetition of sweet makes this description even more sensuous as it draws upon one s sense of taste and smells simultaneously, the heavy sibilance in the phrase sweet scents making the ...
