Projects that use agile have small, multidisciplinary teams. When every discipline has its own specialist in the team, the team becomes bigger and bigger leading to more communication, coordination and more need for documentation. Combining programming and testing is not a wise decision but combining requirements engineering and testing is very well possible. It even turns out that a lot of communication, documentation and coordination is not necessary. So a lot of time and effort can be saved. During his presentation Jan Jaap tells why testers are excellent requirements engineers (and vice versa) and what the advantages of combining requirements engineering and testing can be. He also addresses what testers should do to get this combined role. With agile becoming more and more popular this can be a possible future for testers.
The idea of combining requirements engineering and testing started with a vision. By now we have enough practical experience to show that is actually works! During the presentation Jan Jaap shares vision and practical experiences.

This presentations explains different aspects of software performance testing and give actionable recommendations on how to integrate it into the Agile Software development process
To be most effective, test managers must develop and use metrics to help direct the testing effort and make informed recommendations about the software’s release readiness and associated risks. Because one important testing activity is to “measure” the quality of the software, test managers must measure the results of both the development and testing processes. Collecting, analyzing, and using metrics is complicated because many developers and testers are concerned that the metrics will be used against them. Join Rick Craig as he addresses common metrics—measures of product quality, defect removal efficiency, defect density, defect arrival rate, and testing status. Learn the guidelines for developing a test measurement program, rules of thumb for collecting data, and ways to avoid “metrics dysfunction.” Rick identifies several metrics paradigms and discusses the pros and cons of each. Delegates are urged to bring their metrics problems and issues for use as discussion points.

Mastering one way of testing isn’t enough to be a professional tester nowadays. You need to have knowledge and experience with different ways of testing to test well in every situation. In the presentation Jan Jaap will present different ways of testing like global scripting, session based testing, bug hunts, test tours and pure exploratory testing. All have proven to be useful in agile projects.
In projects where different ways of testing are used drafting a test strategy is different compared to a project where only one way is used. Jan Jaap will explain how a test strategy is made in a project where different ways of testing are used. The things to take into consideration in an agile project will also be explained.
This talk gives you an insight in the different ways of testing you have to master to optimize your test effort.
Main Statement:
Scripted testing is for agile projects too rigid to be used in agile. Testers need to learn different ways of testing to be able to optimize the way of testing in an agile project.
Key Learnings:
Scripted testing, the way of testing most of us learned and used in the past, doesn’t work in agile projects. It’s too rigid
Professional testers need to master different ways of testing to be able to test well in an agile project.
The pros and cons of different ways of testing in agile projects.

Especially in agile project a tester needs to master different ways of testing. In this talk Jan Jaap presents different ways of testing and he describes when these are applicable.
Some ways of testing require analytical and logical thinking, others require creative thinking and being able to handle freedom. So with different ways of testing you use different sides of your brain. Most testers are pretty good in logical and analytical thinking, creative thinking is less developed by quite a lot of them. In the second part of the presentation Jan Jaap explains how you can train the right side of your brain and become more creative.

Load testing is an important part of the performance engineering process. However the industry is changing and load testing should adjust to these changes - a stereotypical, last-moment performance check is not enough anymore. There are multiple aspects of load testing - such as environment, load generation, testing approach, life-cycle integration, feedback and analysis - and none remains static. This presentation discusses how performance testing is adapting to industry trends to remain relevant and bring value to the table.
Performance Testing in the Agile LifecycleTechWell
Traditional large scale end-of-cycle performance tests served enterprises well in the waterfall era. However, as organizations transition to agile development models, many find their tried and true approach to performance testing—and their performance testing resources—becoming somewhat irrelevant. The strict requirements and lengthy durations just don’t fit in the context of an agile cycle. Additionally, investigating system performance at the end of the development effort misses out on the early stage feedback offered by an agile approach. And it’s more important than ever that today’s agile-built systems perform. So how can agile organizations ensure optimum performance of their business critical systems? Lee Barnes discusses why agile teams need to change their thinking about performance from a narrow focus on testing to a broader focus on analysis—from a people, process and technology perspective. Take back techniques for shifting your performance testing/analysis earlier in the development cycle and extracting performance data that is immediately actionable.
How To Transform the Manual Testing Process to Incorporate Test AutomationRanorex
Although most testing organizations have some automation, it's usually a subset of their overall testing efforts. Typically the processes have been previously defined, and the automation team must adapt accordingly. The major issue is that test automation work and deliverables do not always fit into a defined manual testing process.

Learn how Infuse, Kumoco and Curiosity enabled rigorous in-sprint test automation at a large telecommunications company. BAs, Testers and Developers at the telco now collaborate to build visual flows of the system logic in-sprint. The easy-to-maintain diagrams generate complete SIT and E2E tests for the latest business processes, rigorously testing before every rapid release.
To overcome siloes and overly-manual processes, Infuse, Kumoco and Curiosity built a “telecommunications-company-in-a-box”, a digital twin of the system under test. Artifacts created by BA’s were imported to build complete business flows, providing a single source of truth for the systems in scope. The flows were then used to generate rigorous tests in seconds, and were further used by developers and testers to build CI/CD assets. This generated a complete set of artifacts across the SDLC, while allowing every stakeholder to use their favourite tools.
Join Infuse, Kumoco and Curiosity live to see this cutting-edge approach to in-sprint design, development and testing in action. You will discover how:
1. Slow and siloed system design and test creation were replaced by test generation for useMango, with matching test cases generated in Jira.
2. Risk-based test generation identified exactly what to test in short sprints, overcoming the challenge of having more in a system than you could ever test in-sprint.
3. The rigorous automation is now maintained in-sprint, updating tests across tools as the business customize processes in BPMN-style diagrams.
4. The business know that their changes will be validated rigorously before each release, optimizing test generation for time and risk and defining reliably when testing is ‘done’.

A lot of testers know that finding defects is not very cost-efficient way. But most testers are involved to late in a project. Beside this a lot of testers would like to be a QA officer. But how do you convince your manager that he should involve you earlier (so with higher out-of-the-pocket costs) and in a different way? First you should gather the arguments that meet the priorities of these managers. I will present a model that will help testers to find the right arguments.
In most organizations its all about money. I will present a model how to calculate the cost of poor quality. With this model the attendants can start convincing there manager to implement QA in the organization after the conference.
OK, now we convinced the managers we should know what to do as a QA manager. The tasks and responsibilities of a QA manager will come clear.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.
