Nuevosoft Test Manager is a simplest and most effective test management solution in the industry. It helps improve testcase quality using innovative methods.
We need a QA team that works with development teams to help ship features quickly and safely. Traditional testers help to ship safely by doing the testing, but this can have the side-effect of slowing the team down. When bugs are found during the testing stage, they take longer to fix because they requires rework of existing code. The team is then put in a position where they have to decide between shipping quickly or safely. To ship features both quickly and safely we need to find defects as early in the development process as possible to prevent bugs instead of detecting them. In Son's presentation, he will share how to apply agile quality process to achieve this for product-centric teams.
Does dev ops need continuous testing devops days des moines 2018 v1GerieOwen
Organizations turn to DevOps to increase value and improve the customer experience by maximizing the speed of delivery without sacrificing quality. DevOps delivers by implementing continuous delivery pipeline, which requires continuous testing. But just what is continuous testing? Continuous testing requires not only continuous risk analysis, process improvement and automation throughout the development process; but also developing a culture in which the entire team is responsible for quality. Continuous testing is an approach to managing risk by focusing not only on eliminating testing bottlenecks but more importantly, increasing the effectiveness of our test processes. In this presentation, I will provide the fundamentals of implementing continuous testing from development into production.
You’ll learn to streamline the test process by defining and eliminating testing bottlenecks in every stage of the delivery pipeline. You’ll learn how to develop a multi-layered test strategy that includes not only all the types and levels of testing required including unit, integration, functional, exploratory, automated, but also, the strategy for incorporating testing into the continuous integration pipeline. Finally, we’ll discuss the important of monitoring in production and amplifying feedback loops for continuous improvement.

Shift left - find defects earlier through automated test and deploymentClaudia Ring
Do you know how much time it takes or how that translates into dollars lost every time you fix a defect in development, QA, or Production? The cost of application failures or errors increases exponentially the further into the delivery pipeline they are when found. If application defects are discovered by end users in Production, or errors cause a Production outage, the cost can be thousands per second, in addition to the intangible loss of reputation.
So how do you begin to identify defects earlier in software development and prevent them from becoming major, costly errors later on? Join Al Wagner, IBM Technical Evangelist, as he discusses how to "shift left" and;
Incorporate service virtualization and automated testing into development for a more thorough and accurate representation of application quality
Integrate deployment automation with continuous testing to remove wait times on application promotion
Adopt best practices that have proven successful for IBM customers who are currently shifting left
How to Fit Performance Testing into a DevOps EnvironmentNeotys
DevOps environments demand shorter development cycles and a healthy amount of automation, while performance testing is time-consuming and requires manual human action. So, how can you execute thorough performance tests in a fast-paced environment and integrate performance testing tools with a DevOps toolchain?
If you’re testing in a DevOps or any other time-constrained environment, you need to accelerate your performance testing cycles.
In the past decade, testing efforts have been steadily shifting left—to earlier in the development lifecycle. For web apps, testing and testing automation have been gradually shifting—into development, design, and requirements. The test pyramid recommended by Google and agile experts is a distribution of 60 percent unit tests, 30 percent integration tests, and only 10 percent UI tests. Although practiced widely in the web world, this formula is often deemed impractical in mobile. Satyajit Malugu busts open this myth and gives you practical guidance to achieve the same test pyramid in your mobile test efforts. Satyajit shows how to emphasize unit tests and code coverage, implement continuous integration, and use dashboards for test and quality visibility. He shares experiences with mocking tools, emulators, partial integration tests, and a minimally focused set of UI tests—all before your app reaches the app store. Join Satyajit and take back the testing pyramid.

European IT industry need to deal with a huge salary gap with developing countries.
How can we increase our productivity and quality to compensate for the salary differences? This is a systems-thinking / Lean based approach to that problem
Nowadays in IT market, most of enterprises are trying to adopt agile and DevOps methodology to meet the time-to-market expectations and continue satisfying their customers. As the result, continue deploying new applications are become challenges for any software development teams.
During the development cycles, several questions has been identified and one of the most interesting questions is How to fit automated tests into agile projects because within agile sprints, there is simply not enough time to automate the set of tests?
Action Based Testing (ABT) methodology is becoming a solution to help you achieve your expectations on automated test coverage within the Agile iterations/sprints.
ABT uses a modular keyword-driven approach which tests are organized in test modules and are built up of sequences of actions. Well-defined test modules can provide a healthy framework for teams to work with, in particular if modules have a clear and unambiguous scope, the scope is well-differentiated from other test modules, and all test cases …within the test module reflect the scope.
A key differentiation is between business tests and interaction tests. Business tests have a business-oriented scope and should not contain UI details. Interaction tests focus on the interaction between the user (or another system) and the application.
This topic is about how to apply ABT methodologies into SDLC with some discussions on the three Holy Grail of test design approaches from Hans Buwalda.
Test case prioritization techniques schedule test cases for execution in an order that attempts to increase their effectiveness in meeting some performance goal. Various goals are possible; one involves rate of fault detection | a measure of how quickly faults are detected within the testing process. An improved rate of fault detection during testing can provide faster feedback on the system under test, and let software engineers begin correcting faults earlier than might otherwise be possible.
Building a Test Automation Strategy for SuccessLee Barnes
Choosing an appropriate tool and building the right framework are typically thought of as the main challenges in implementing successful test automation. However, long term success requires that other key questions must be answered including:
- What are our objectives?
- How should we be organized?
- Will our processes need to change?
- Will our test environment support test automation?
- What skills will we need?
- How and when should we implement?
In this workshop, Lee will discuss how to assess your test automation readiness and build a strategy for long term success. You will interactively walk through the assessment process and build a test automation strategy based on input from the group. Attend this workshop and you will take away a blue print and best practices for building an effective test automation strategy in your organization.

Exploring Innovations in Data Repository Solutions - Insights from the U.S. G...Globus
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has made substantial investments in meeting evolving scientific, technical, and policy driven demands on storing, managing, and delivering data. As these demands continue to grow in complexity and scale, the USGS must continue to explore innovative solutions to improve its management, curation, sharing, delivering, and preservation approaches for large-scale research data. Supporting these needs, the USGS has partnered with the University of Chicago-Globus to research and develop advanced repository components and workflows leveraging its current investment in Globus. The primary outcome of this partnership includes the development of a prototype enterprise repository, driven by USGS Data Release requirements, through exploration and implementation of the entire suite of the Globus platform offerings, including Globus Flow, Globus Auth, Globus Transfer, and Globus Search. This presentation will provide insights into this research partnership, introduce the unique requirements and challenges being addressed and provide relevant project progress.
In software engineering, the right architecture is essential for robust, scalable platforms. Wix has undergone a pivotal shift from event sourcing to a CRUD-based model for its microservices. This talk will chart the course of this pivotal journey.
Event sourcing, which records state changes as immutable events, provided robust auditing and "time travel" debugging for Wix Stores' microservices. Despite its benefits, the complexity it introduced in state management slowed development. Wix responded by adopting a simpler, unified CRUD model. This talk will explore the challenges of event sourcing and the advantages of Wix's new "CRUD on steroids" approach, which streamlines API integration and domain event management while preserving data integrity and system resilience.
Participants will gain valuable insights into Wix's strategies for ensuring atomicity in database updates and event production, as well as caching, materialization, and performance optimization techniques within a distributed system.
Join us to discover how Wix has mastered the art of balancing simplicity and extensibility, and learn how the re-adoption of the modest CRUD has turbocharged their development velocity, resilience, and scalability in a high-growth environment.

How to Position Your Globus Data Portal for Success Ten Good PracticesGlobus
Science gateways allow science and engineering communities to access shared data, software, computing services, and instruments. Science gateways have gained a lot of traction in the last twenty years, as evidenced by projects such as the Science Gateways Community Institute (SGCI) and the Center of Excellence on Science Gateways (SGX3) in the US, The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and its platforms in Australia, and the projects around Virtual Research Environments in Europe. A few mature frameworks have evolved with their different strengths and foci and have been taken up by a larger community such as the Globus Data Portal, Hubzero, Tapis, and Galaxy. However, even when gateways are built on successful frameworks, they continue to face the challenges of ongoing maintenance costs and how to meet the ever-expanding needs of the community they serve with enhanced features. It is not uncommon that gateways with compelling use cases are nonetheless unable to get past the prototype phase and become a full production service, or if they do, they don't survive more than a couple of years. While there is no guaranteed pathway to success, it seems likely that for any gateway there is a need for a strong community and/or solid funding streams to create and sustain its success. With over twenty years of examples to draw from, this presentation goes into detail for ten factors common to successful and enduring gateways that effectively serve as best practices for any new or developing gateway.
Modern design is crucial in today's digital environment, and this is especially true for SharePoint intranets. The design of these digital hubs is critical to user engagement and productivity enhancement. They are the cornerstone of internal collaboration and interaction within enterprises.

11. The Importance of QA and Testing
• McAfee released an anti-virus patch that causes “tens of
thousands of computers to crash and burn.”
- Occurred on April 21, 2010
The Tech Herald reported:
“Some specific steps of the existing Quality Assurance processes were not
followed: Standard Peer Review of the driver was not done, and the Risk
Assessment of the driver in question was inadequate.”
In the Blog, “A Long Day at McAfee,” McAfee asserted they would:
“make sure we put the processes in place so this never happens again.”

12. What are the challenges?
• Are our requirements untestable? Are requirements
poorly written?
• Are we testing everything we need to? Why are we even
running these tests?
• What impact do our tests have? Are our test procedures
still valid?
• We’re running the same test three times, in three
different ways.
• What’s going on?
13. Integrating QA and Requirements

14. Test-Driven Development
• Very popular in software development
– Many agile teams write user stories in the “I want to
do [what], because [why], and I will know it is
implemented [how].”
• Even in pure hardware development, requirements must
be testable!
• Involving QA in the development process can help
produce quality, testable requirements.
• Saves time during verification and validation.
15. Creating Thorough Test Plans

16. Creating Traceability to Requirements
• Not only necessary for many regulatory standards, but
also gives testers context into why and what we are
testing.
• Knowing the meaning of tests can catch issues that are
not explicitly tested for.
• Give more information for providing quality feed back to
development
17. Planning What Items to Test
• Knowing what requirements have changed can help
greatly with test planning
– What requirements have changed and need to be
retested? What tests can be skip?
• Can we reuse any test procedures from before?
• Report and show the status of any ongoing tests
– Will we be in conflict? Are we testing items that are
currently being tested?
• Giving testers or groups access to their plans

19. Providing Direct Feedback
• Results are only reliable for one day.
– Can we guarantee yesterday’s requirements haven’t changed?
• Tracking the requirements changes can help give feedback to
QA on potential impact.
• Test results can also give valuable information to the
development team.
– Why did this test fail? It is a design issue, or a problem with the
requirement?
• Any gap between creating the result/change and reporting it is
wasted time.
20. Integrating Tests From All Methods
• Bringing together test results from all methods can
insure complete coverage.
• Test results should be treated the same, regardless of
source.
– Unit, system, acceptance tests are all important, and
should be tracked similarly.
• Traceability should be created from test cases,
automated or manual.
21. Reporting Across Entire Projects
• Having requirements, manual test cases, and automated
test cases in separate tools inhibits thorough reporting.
– Integrations need to be developed, or third party
reporting tools need to be used
• Having a centralized repository means test cases can be
broken out by projects, but still reported across.
• Seeing all results across the projects can provide
“Lessons Learned” at the end.
23. Demonstration Scenario
• Viewing, creating, and editing test cases and
requirements
• Establishing traceability to requirements
• Planning Test Runs
• Performing Impact Analysis
• Importing and executing automated testing
• Reporting across the entire project
About Polarion:
Polarion was founded in 2004 to start with a blank sheet and instigate a paradigm shift that would deliver a groundbreaking solution.

I’d like to point out that all three patented capabilities protect the investment that our customers have made into our solution.
----
Scenarios:
I as a project leader want to easily import the initial specification from our customer, and be sure that all the requirements from this document are linked to functional requirements.
I as a project leader want to sent the full software requirement specification to customer, so they can review/comment/approve requirements we have gathered so that their questions are imported back and our requirements engineers can process the questions/changes
I as a test engineer what to check what requirements were changed by customer , so I can review the test cases
I as a customer want a solution that follows my changing needs, so The ability to change just a document, post it and see the actions taken to fulfill my request
I as a developer want a Just a clear requirement at the right time, in the right place, req. engineer write them using a document interface, but I see them as objects in my plan.
SPEAKERS NOTES:
