1. My film uses a tall and wide font to suggest the horror aspect of
my film opening. I coloured the text in as red so that the it
emphasises danger in my film opening. The positioning of the
title also emphasises the mystery of the film. Also my title
follows the rule of thirds as this makes it more pleasing to the
eye
The black background in this frame suggests mystery to my film. Also the simple background
juxtaposes with the bright red of my title to emphasises the horror genre in my film opening.

2. I used super 8 as my comparison film as this film is also produced by Bad
Robot. Also Super 8 is a mystery film such as mine.
Super 8 also utilises colour by showing their font in a bright
white it suggests a sci-fi film. Also the font suggests that
inside the font is a spot light due to the lines in the font
which also suggests mystery.
Super 8 uses a mostly black background which
emphasises the title more. Also the little white
lights suggests stars which conforms to the sci-fi
genre.

3. Having my first shot like this instantly establishes the
main character in my film. Judging by the clothing that he
is wearing this will make him relate to my target audience
more.
The beanie suggests that he is an
adolescent.
The set of the film is in a rural
area which suggests what kind
of horror it will be also the
found footage aspect is
important in the film because it
highlights the important bits to
the audience.
This suggests that the character is an
amateur.

4. This opening shot introduces who the main
character is in the film. It also establishes the
where the film is set (in the suburbs in
America)
The swing set suggests the age of the main character. And what kind of
character he is.
Suggests his parents occupation which also
suggests the personality of the character.
Winter also emphasises how isolated the child is that is
on the swing. Also winter connotes depression and
cold feelings such as the child’s mother passing away.

5. My actress wearing a coat emphasises the pathetic fallacy that is used
in my film. Also the way the character is dressed can relate to the
audience as well.
The black and white filter on my footage contrasts with the full
colour of the found footage of the handheld film.
Having this character in the background also
looking down upon down upon the other
character, this suggests authority towards with
the characters.

6. The mist creates adds to the mystery genre conventions. Also the
low key lighting adds an eeriness to the film in comparison my film
beginning is trying to create an eerie effect by the way I used a
black and white filter over my film.
All the children looking at one subject
suggests the importance of it. This can be
compared with my film by the way I use
different facial expressions to emphasise what
the characters are thinking.
