Rashid Vaji, PhD, a member of the school psychology faculty at a midsize university, serves as a faculty supervisor for students assigned to externships in schools. The department has formalized a supervision and evaluation system for the extern program. Students have weekly individual meetings with the faculty supervisor and biweekly meetings with the on-site supervisor. The on-site supervisor writes a midyear (December) and end of academic year (May) evaluation of each student. The site evaluations are sent to Dr. Vaji, and he provides
feedback based on the site and his own supervisory evaluation to each student. The final grade (fail, low pass, pass, high pass) is the responsibility of Dr. Vaji.
Dr. Vaji also teaches the spring semester graduate class Health Disparities in Mental Health. Cross Cultural Intelligence
Culture is one of the greatest pillars that impact on interpersonal relations between individuals from different geographical locations. It is described as individuals’ values and beliefs hold towards other groups of people, and it impacts on individuals’ outward behaviors and attitudes towards others of different cultural orientation. Peoples’ inner beliefs and values influence how we act either in desirable or undesirable patterns. The level of culturally-induced behavior is influenced by an individual’s level of cultural intelligence. Gaining knowledge on other cultures increases our facts about different people and their places, traditions, fashions, political, and economic systems among other cultural diversity aspects. Cultural intelligence helps individuals to interact effectively and work well across different geographical locations with minimal or no cultural offenses to others.
To determine my level of cultural intelligence, I took a quiz from cross-cultural work scenarios and the country quiz from the United Kingdom (UK). The two quizzes have relatively tested the level of awareness to other countries cultural aspects. In the case of cultural work scenarios, my cultural awareness on countries like Turkey, Argentina, and Thailand. On these scenarios, I had a wrong choice. On the other quizzed on the U.K, the score was relatively good with exceptions of the meaning of celebratory gathering proposes a toast, the mostly spoken non-native language, and at what position of the clock should the knife and fork be placed when a dinner guest has finished their meal?
From the quizzes, I was surprised that Turkey is cosmopolitan, and they are used to Western Women. I believed that women in rural Turkey are not allowed to leave their houses. Besides, I got know that it is important to learn about other country’s culture and natives to have experience with you. Nick was offered a two days delay for his market presentation so that the Argentinean supervisors can have experience with him before the presentation. Further, I was amused that I don’t know non-native languages in the U.K, meaning of their flag, and table etiquette.
My strengths in cultural awareness are that I can identify some cultural behaviors that are offensive to a country’s natives. For instance, I was able to identify that asking personal questions in France and folding shirt sleeves in Japan is offensive. Besides, I’m culturally aware of celebrations and currency in the U.K. On the other hand, my weakness was that I cannot identify table etiquette in the U.K, conduct behavior in Thailand, and women cultural requirements in Turkey. Introduction
I am doing my field ED at Walton County Division of Family and Children Services in Georgia where I get to interact with different persons of different interests. I was allocated a number of roles some of which include; interviewing clients for renewal and recertification of benefits Medicaid/ Food stamps, assisting in the preparation for new placement and reviewing services and history of children from the foster care department and finalizing and processing applications.
In my field ED, I have met a number of individuals who I got to serve and interact with. One of my best experience was an encounter with a client two weeks ago who I found to have an intriguing personality. Below is my conversation with a client. I will use acronyms in place of names.

M: Good evening? How can I be of assistance?
C: Evening. I have been sent here by your supervisor. I have made a number of complaints in relation to mistreatment of a child in foster care along my street of residence and I have received no feedback yet.
M: How long ago did you make this complaint?
C: This was about a month ago, and for the previous one week I have been camping here to at least get a solution.
M: We are sorry for the delay. There has been a number of such cases recently and the process of moving them from one foster home to another has consumed most of the staff’s time. You cannot tell the reporter what the agency is going to do with the family. We have to say that we are working with the family. Please fix this.
C: It is understandable. How soon can you, therefore, take a look at this case? The little boy is in a really bad state from all the physical torture and needs urgent medical attention.
M: The case is now our priority. We will start the required procedure to see through that the boy is in safe hands and receives medical attention as well.
C: Thank you. I appreciate the role you, as an institute, play in Georgia.
M: Thank you too. It is with such information that we are able to serve the people of Georgia better, improving the society one step at a time.
Interpretation of the dialogue
The dialogue was a complaint brought forth by a client about a neglected child in foster care. The client was specifically concerned with the health of the child. A social practice theory in close relation to this situation is systems theory. According to Garthwait (2017), systems theory “describes human behavior in terms of complex systems”. In relation to this theory, members of the society are directly involved in resolving a problem. My client, from the dialogue above, was concerned about a member of the community and sought to find help.

In a discussion following the meeting, Theresa Tramlin, the CEO of UWEAR, mentioned that she would like you to spend some time in the field with her top sales representative to get a feel for what the salespeople face every day selling in the current business environment. Today, you are scheduled to spend the day with Joe Smith.
As you walk across the lobby of UWEAR, you see Theresa talking to a tall, distinguished-looking man. “This is Joe Smith,” Theresa introduces when you step up to them. “You'll be spending some time with him today in the field.”
“Nice to meet you, Joe,” you respond, shaking Joe's hand.
Theresa says goodbye and makes her way to the elevator while you and Joe head toward the parking garage. “We're going to meet with a couple of clients today,” Joe explains. “First, we'll have lunch with Bill Bateman, the CEO of the Peninsula Hotel chain. He's a great guy and I'm sure you'll enjoy meeting him.”
“Where are we meeting him for lunch?” I ask, getting into Joe's car.
“Bill's hotel, the Peninsula, has a great restaurant that I frequently use to meet clients,” Joe answers. “The food is outstanding. We're going to meet him there to discuss the renewal of his uniform contract.”
As you continue the drive to the hotel, Joe elaborates on his business history with Bill. “I was able to win the contract for the Peninsula chain last year,” he explains. “We were just able to underbid our competitor, Threads4U. In fact, Bill said that I underbid them by about $5 per uniform. Great victory on my part.”
“It sounds like you've established a great working relationship with Bill,” you say.
“Oh, yeah,” Joe agrees. “He's a great guy. The first time we met, I was on my way to buy a nice bottle of cabernet as a birthday gift for my wife. She loves the expensive wines. I happened to mention this to Bill, he said he orders it all the time and offered to give me some for free. I told him it wasn't
necessary, but he insisted. When I got my car back from the valet, I found not just a bottle, but an entire case of high-end cabernet in my trunk.” Joe shakes his head, smiling. “But that's just the kind of guy Bill is.”
“It sounds like it worked out for you and your wife,” you comment. “Did she enjoy her birthday gift?”
“Yes,” Joe says. “We both enjoyed it for quite some time. Well, here we are,” he adds, pulling up the Peninsula Hotel.
As you park and exit the car, Joe explains, “Since Bill and I have been doing business, he’s referred three other hotel owners to me to supply their uniforms. Today, you are scheduled to spend the day with Joe Smith.
As you walk across the lobby of UWEAR, you see Theresa talking to a tall, distinguished-looking man. “This is Joe Smith,” Theresa introduces when you step up to them. “You'll be spending some time with him today in the field.”
“Nice to meet you, Joe,” you respond, shaking Joe's hand.
Theresa says goodbye and makes her way to the elevator while you and Joe head toward the parking garage. “We're going to meet with a couple of clients today,” Joe explains. “First, we'll have lunch with Bill Bateman, the CEO of the Peninsula Hotel chain. He's a great guy and I'm sure you'll enjoy meeting him.”
“Where are we meeting him for lunch?” I ask, getting into Joe's car.
“Bill's hotel, the Peninsula, has a great restaurant that I frequently use to meet clients,” Joe answers. “The food is outstanding. We're going to meet him there to discuss the renewal of his uniform contract.”
As you continue the drive to the hotel, Joe elaborates on his business history with Bill. “I was able to win the contract for the Peninsula chain last year,” he explains. “We were just able to underbid our competitor, Threads4U. In fact, Bill said that I underbid them by about $5 per uniform. Great victory on my part.”
“It sounds like you've established a great working relationship with Bill,” you say.
“Oh, yeah,” Joe agrees. “He's a great guy. The first time we met, I was on my way to buy a nice bottle of cabernet as a birthday gift for my wife. She loves the expensive wines. I happened to mention this to Bill, he said he orders it all the time and offered to give me some for free. I told him it wasn't
necessary, but he insisted. When I got my car back from the valet, I found not just a bottle, but an entire case of high-end cabernet in my trunk.” Joe shakes his head, smiling. “But that's just the kind of guy Bill is.”
“It sounds like it worked out for you and your wife,” you comment. “Did she enjoy her birthday gift?”
“Yes,” Joe says. “We both enjoyed it for quite some time. Well, here we are,” he adds, pulling up the Peninsula Hotel.
As you park and exit the car, Joe explains, “Since Bill and I have been doing business, he’s referred three other hotel owners to me to supply their uniforms. and a sleepless night at a hotel in Shanghai, Judith started the first day of work in China
tired and slightly disoriented. Her team first met the company's president, Bo Chen, and
seven other men from SDM for lunch. Judith was seated next to the company's president
for the duration of the two-hour lunch, which included course after course of foods Judith
had never seen or eaten before. Judith sampled most of the dishes but was clearly
uncomfortable.
During the meal, the company president asked Judith, "Ms. Carey, what are your
impressions of China?" Judith replied, "Well, Bo, I don't really know too much. I'm not
quite used to the air here, with all of the pollution. Of course, I've always known about the
one-child policy, but not much else. Do you think the policy is fair?" Bo stated, "China and
America must solve their problems in their own ways." Then, he talked about the final dish
for the meal—a fish. He explained that ending the meal with the fish had special
symbolism in China and signaled a prosperous future for their relationship.

Title descriptiveness. Most readers look first at the chart’s title to grasp its
message. Thus, the title should explain the primary point of the chart.
However, it must be short enough for the reader to process quickly
(generally fewer than ten words).
Focal points. A chart should draw the reader’s attention to the most critical
relationships and ideas. Each of the chart’s focal points should support one
main idea. The focal points can be visually generated in many interesting
ways, including font choices (bold, italics), color, size, and callout boxes.
Information sufficiency. Charts should contain enough information for the
reader to quickly and reasonably understand the ideas that are being
displayed. Clear labels and legends should demonstrate what is being

values at each point within the chart.
Ease of processing. A basic purpose of a chart is to convey complicated
