CMGT 433 Wk 1 - Security Overview Presentation
In your new role as your company's cyber security expert, you have been assigned by
your company to provide some help with improving the company’s overall security, In your
first meeting with the senior executives, you will have to present a security overview to
help them understand the magnitude of the problems they will need to address. Use your
own organization or an organization that you are familiar with for this and the other
assignments during this course. Think about how the industry and the size of the
organization is going to affect your responses.
Create a 8-10 slide, multimedia-rich presentation in which you discuss:
 A chart showing 4 methods for identifying threats and vulnerabilities that could be
used to determine the organization's current security environment, the impact of the
strategy, and resources (personnel, finances, etc.).
 Once you have identified the areas of concern in your organization, propose 3 key
security projects the company will need to do to address those threats; include graphics
and a brief explanation of each of the projects and why they are important to the overall
security of the organization.
 An explanation of why creating a set of projects with defined milestones is
important for improving security for the organization's current and future environment

CMGT 433 Wk 2 Team- Cybersecurity Threats and Challenges List
There are many threats and challenges to an organization's cybersecurity. As a
team, list 15 threats or challenges that may occur, as well as their possible impact on an
organization.

Note: This work may assist with the Week 2 Prioritizing Threats individual assignment.
Also note that if a team member does not participate in the team work, the grade will be

CMGT 433 Wk 2 - Prioritizing Threats Executive Summary
Based on your completed security overview presentation from last week, the executives of
the company have 'approved for action,' the additional work that you recommended. The
executive team would like more detailed information about the type of threats and
challenges that should be addressed for your company. They want to know which threats
should be prioritized and the impact they have on the organization. They would like you to:
 Prioritize categories of cybersecurity threats that might directly affect your
organization.
 Recommend a cybersecurity mitigation effort to address the threat with the
organization.
 Identify the additional challenges that mobile and cloud computing threat
mitigation will need to be addressed.
As noted last week, use your own organization or an organization that you are familiar
with for this and the other assignments during this course. Think about how the industry
and the size of the organization is going to affect your responses.
Write a 2- to 3-page executive summary to share with the executive staff about your
recommendations, challenges, and explanations. Include the following in your summary:
 A chart or list detailing 8 threats and their potential impact on your company
 Your top 5 prioritized threat mitigations with a rationale for the prioritization, again
based on your company's risk profile
 At least two references supporting your top 5 recommendations

CMGT 433 Wk 3 - Action Plan
The executive team at your company did not agree with your first recommendations in
your executive summary completed in Week 2. However, they decided that your number 2
and number 4 recommendations were better suited and more cost effective solutions for
your organization. This presents a challenge to you, but you must go ahead with your
executive team's guidance. Again, as in previous weeks, use your own organization or an
organization that you are familiar with for this and the other assignments during this
course. Think about how the industry and the size of the organization is going to affect
your responses.
You will take the two recommended actions and develop an action plan to assist the
project teams and effectively demonstrate what items need to be addressed for securing
your company. Think of this Action Plan as the first step in a project designed to create or
improve a business process, program, practice, etc. The plan should break down
individual requirements and issues into steps that can be tracked appropriately, indicate
each team member(s) responsibility, and the planned completion (including prerequisites)
dates. A plan usually includes goals, steps, assignments, and deadlines. To learn more
about how to structure the assignment, you might want to research how project
management works.
For this assignment you are writing a recipe for how you will complete two of the
recommended projects that you made in last week's assignment. Think of how you will
write it so it can be completed on time and on budget. What needs to be done first, what
are tasks that can only be done after other tasks are completed and what might happen if
the task is not completed on time. For example, what happens if you forget to have all the
ingredients for the cake you are planning to make? You might have to make an
emergency trip to the store to buy more and the cake might not get baked in time for the
birthday party you are planning to have.
Create a project work plan with a total of at least 10 tasks that are a break down of your
number 2 and 4 recommendations from your week 2 assignment. Each task must address
the following three issues:
 Risk assessment (overall strategy)
 What are the risks if the project is late or delayed?
 What might go wrong during the project execution?
 Contingency planning

4.  What is your plan if there is a problem? Who sets the priorities following an
incident? Who is going to do what? What are the priorities? How do you keep the plan
going?
 Vulnerability management
 What is the strategy for ongoing risk identification?
 Once you've identified the risk, how do you mitigate the risk? What are the steps?

RACI charts are commonly used in business proposals to determine responsibilities
among the team and to clarify expectations about who does what within an organization.
For this assignment your team is developing a RACI for a company that is just starting, so
has nothing in place yet. The company is asking your team to develop a RACI that can be
used as the company grows. The company is in the software consulting business and
they are targeting customers in the healthcare and financial services industries.
As a team, develop a RACI chart for a cybersecurity plan for a small start-up company in
which you:
 Explain the roles/responsibilities for the organization's staff regarding security.
 Identify expectations for a) business units, b) IT staff, c) executive staff, d) sales,
and e) support staff (clerical, maintenance, etc.).

needs of the organization from previous weeks, so they have requested materials and
your recommendations on the following security issues:
 Is a security audit really needed? What are your recommendations for conducting
such an audit?
 What are the roles and responsibilities for the organization's staff regarding
security?
 Is there any concern about your organization's overall communication policies?
Use your own organization or an organization that you are familiar with for this and the
other assignments during this course. Think about how the industry and the size of the
organization is going to affect your responses.
Compile a 2 to 3 page proposal that addresses solutions for the issues presented and
includes:

As a final project requirement, the executive staff of your company requested
recommendations to address the following:
 Strategy for staff awareness about the importance of security for the company's
business goals
 Strategy for ongoing security maintenance

6. The best way to get the message across is to have a solid mission statement to share with
the organization. You decide to create an awareness campaign for the organization to
address the executive staff member's request. Your campaign
consists of the following items:
 Security mission statement focused on your company's unique security
requirements
 A message to the organization via a corporate announcement Blog post
Create a paragraph long security policy mission statement for your company.
Develop an awareness campaign consisting of a blog post that will be posted on your
company’s internal website about security awareness to distribute virtually. The blog must
include the security policy mission statement. Highlight at least 5
legal and ethical issues in the article that you want to make the organization's staff aware
of.
You will submit your blog post message including the security policy mission statement to
the executive staff in the form of a Microsoft® Word document for final approval and
sign-off.
