College Essay Templates
Crafting an essay on the subject of "College Essay Templates" can be both a challenging and
rewarding endeavor. On one hand, the topic necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the
intricacies involved in creating an effective essay template tailored specifically for the college
application process. On the other hand, it demands a certain level of introspection and self-
awareness to communicate one's unique qualities, experiences, and aspirations in a compelling
manner.
The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between adhering to a structured template and
infusing personal authenticity. Templates, while providing a framework, can be restrictive if
followed too rigidly, leading to generic and uninspiring narratives. Conversely, deviating too far
from the template might result in a lack of coherence or a failure to address key aspects essential
for a successful college essay.
Moreover, the challenge extends to the need for originality. Given the vast number of applicants
and the competitive nature of college admissions, creating an essay that stands out from the
crowd is no easy feat. It requires not only a creative approach to storytelling but also a keen
understanding of the specific requirements and expectations of the target institutions.
Researching and understanding the nuances of different college essay prompts, adapting the
template to align with each institution's values, and ensuring that the essay reflects both personal
growth and a genuine desire to contribute to the academic community further contribute to the
complexity of the task.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on "College Essay Templates" demands a delicate balance
between structure and personal expression, the challenge is also an opportunity for self-discovery
and growth. Crafting a memorable and impactful essay requires time, effort, and a thorough
understanding of the nuances involved in the college application process.

Pathophysiology of Preeclampsia There is no definitive cause of preeclampsia,
but the pathophysiology is distinct. The main pathogenic factor is poor perfusion
as a result of arteriolar vasospasm. Function in organs such as the placenta, liver,
brain, and kidneys can be depressed as much as 40 to 60%. As fluid shifts out of the
intravascular compartment, a decrease in plasma volume and subsequent increase
in hematocrit is seen. The edema of preeclampsia is generalized. Virtually all
organ systems are affected by this disease, and the mother and fetus suffer
increasing risk as the disease progresses. Preeclampsia develops after 20 weeks
gestation in a previously normotensive woman. Elevated blood pressure is
frequently the first sign of preeclampsia. The client also develops proteinuria.
While no longer considered a diagnostic measurement of preeclampsia, generalized
edema of the face, hands, and abdomen that is not responsive to 12 hours of bedrest
is often present. Preeclampsia progresses along a continuum from mild to severe
preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, or eclampsia. A client may present to the labor unit
anywhere along that continuum. 3. What is the pathophysiology responsible for

What Are The Similarities Between New Zealand And The
Us
New Zealand/USA Compare and Contrast
There are many similarities and differences between the United States (U.S.) and
New Zealand that make them unique. The U.S. has people from all around the
world Including people from New Zealand. There is an abundance of jobs and
opportunities for people who live there. They have freedom and liberty. This gives
them rights that citizens of many other countries don t have. They also have the right
to vote for laws as well as political figures they want in office. Although the U.S. has
some amazing qualities, New Zealand has many of the same Ideals, as well as
several differences, but regardless both countries are amazing places. New Zealand
and the U.S. are similar in many ways. For example, both the U.S. and New Zealand
have three branches of their government. Those branches are the Judicial Branch, the
Legislative Branch, and the Executive branch. The citizens of both countries can vote
on their government. Both countries also have a constitution and a cabinet. They
both were ruled by Britain at one point, but gained their independence. These
countries are very similar to each other. But they do also have many differences. ...

Essay on Teddy Roosevelt and the Panama Canal
Teddy Roosevelt and the Panama Canal
Teddy Roosevelt was a man who liked to creat a stir wherever he went. He loved
mingling with people to boost his own self image. He loved to impress people with
his cowboyism, his collection of guns, and his pintsize spectacles. Also, Roosevelt
was a direct actionist. He wanted to keep the country moving foward and preserve
his public image at the same time. He wanted to display to his supporters that he
could lead the country and be a jovial person simulataneously. His public image
seemed to be his first priority, and when the election of 1904 came approaching, he
wanted to show that he could be a bully to smaller countries and impress his people

Election time was around the corner and he was eager to make the dirt fly and
impress his people with him bullying another smaller country. It s no surprise that
his bullyish attitude would extend to forgein policies. Another time of Roosevelt s
bullyish attitude , so he can impress his fellow countrymen was his dealing with
Panama. The Panamanians feared that the United States would build on the
Nicaraguan route. The angry Panamanians revolted , but U.S. forces crushed the
uprising. Roosevelt moved quickly and negotiated that the zone would be widened
from six to ten miles and the price would remain the same. People thought that
Roosevelt created the impression that he was sent secretly to settle the problem.
The truth of the matter is , election was very soon and he did not want to lose his
supporters. Roosevelt came under fire and had to defend his actions as just and fair.
He claimed that Columbia had been wronged and he was sent a mandate from
civilization to begin the canal. Although he wasn t truly open and failed to express
that the Nicaragua route was available. Of course , he wouldn t want to mention it
because the election was nearing and he didn t want to lose his many supporters.

Research Paper On Police Brutality
Have you or anyone you know been harassed by police? For some people, police
are looked at as the protectors of our community, but for others they are the real
criminals in society. According to Encyclopedia.com police brutality is, The use of
any force exceeding that reasonably necessary to accomplish a lawful policepurpose.
The existence of police brutalityis becoming more of an issue today. There have
been many cases throughout history where citizens are severely injured or
murdered by police. Something has to be done to stop police brutality so that
police do not forget who they are paid to serve. The problem is police are
specifically targeting citizens based on specific race, gender, religious beliefs,
class, and sexual orientation. Even though it is most common today, police
brutality has been around for years. Police brutality has taken place since police
forces were formed. In the early years of policing, acts of brutality were usually
toward poor labor workers. The Great Railroad Strike of 1877, the Pullman Strike
of 1894, the Lawrence textile strike of 1912, the Ludlow massacre of 1914, the
Steel strike of 1919, and the Hanapepe massacre of 1924, shows examples of how
police beat poor workers. The Civil Rights Movement, The Vietnam War, and the
U.S. Industrial Revolution all had large acts of police brutality from the 20s to the
60s. Complaints about police brutality are very common in nations where there are
no laws about the use of excessive force.
Dances With Wolves Essay
Dances With Wolves
No matter how you choose to categorize human beings, whether by race or religion,
nationality or gender, the resultant categories will display at least one immutable
constant. Each group, no matter how diverse their beliefs or how dissimilar their
behaviors, will contain men of honest and peaceful natures as well as men of divisive
and violent natures. In the film Dances With Wolves, we are exposed to two distinct
categories of people inhabiting post civil war America, the white man and the Native
American. We, most likely, begin the movie with defined ideas as to which group
contains honest, peaceful men and which group contains violent and savage men. We
are, however, exposed to behaviors which are in opposition ... Show more content on

But, compassionate, thinking white men are definitely in the minority in this film.
When John begins his Westward move, the crude, maniacal white man makes his
reappearance. The officer who gives John the information about getting to his new
post appears to be downright insane and apparently kills himself. The guide who
accompanies John to his post is also no prize. John refers to him as the foulest man
alive (Dances with Wolves). This constant exposure to the violent and crude men who
make up the white race is an effective first step in shifting our sympathies. We want to
distance ourselves from these shameful characters. We don t want to identify with
them.
Our first exposure to Indians is a mere suggestion of the expected stereotype. We
are shown a skeleton on the ground with an arrow stuck through it. So far so good.
We are accustomed to that image. Dunbar s guide states that Indians are nothin but
thieves and beggars and that you only want to see them when they are dead (Dances
with Wolves). He, of course, is such an exemplary man that it s not ironic at all to
hear him degrading someone else.
From the beginning of the film we are given hints that Dunbar is not like his fellow
ugly Americans. When John and his guide arrive at the deserted Fort, the guide is in
a hurry to be away. He is nervous and uncomfortable and thinks nothing of leaving
without accomplishing what he was sent to do.
Hawaii The Land Of Many Summary
In my opinion, reading 1 (Hawaii: The Land of Many) is more informative and
useful for a person who knows nothing about the sugar plantations in Hawaii in the
1800s. I would suggest using reading 1 because it talks about the entire history, as
opposed to reading 2 which talks about the shutting down of the plantations today.
This reading teaches the reader about the sugar plantations and the life of the laborers
that worked on these sugar plantations. Reading 1 states that the sugar industry
boomed in the 1800s which caused the need of plantation workers. They had recruits
different countries that lived on the plantation. Laborers had to sign a contract saying
they would work for a certain amount of time. Plantation supervisors whipped those
Notes On The Rise Ra Out Of The Horizon
I chisel away at the limestone; I am writing on a tablet. It reads Rise Ra out of the
horizon . I was ordered by Pharaoh Khafre to make this tablet, it will be soon used
in a temple to honor the great god of the sun, Ra. Pharaoh Khafre worships Ra more
than any other Pharaoh we have had in the past. He is trying to ensure that there is
harmony between people and nature. He plans to build a great monument for us to
worship the god Rain. A great pyramid is in the works of being built as well, this
pyramid will be similar to his father Pharaoh Khufus and will be his final resting
place. I am a scribe, meaning I know how to read and write in our language. My job
is to inscribe temples, tablets or any other thing I am asked to. These letters I am
writing are called hieroglyphics and we only use them when we talk to or about
the gods, they are a religious alphabet we use to honor them. Our everyday writing
is called hieratics and it is mainly used for business, administration and keeping
records on papyrus, our form of paper, it is reed flattened out. I do enjoy my job; I
am not dragging limestone for distances or slaving away building pyramids or
temples for our pharaoh. You could say that I am of a higher social division. I am
not a criminal nor am I severely poor, these people are our slaves. They break their
backs doing hard manual labor for our Pharaoh. There is also a group of citizens that
voluntarily do hard labor, these are not extremely poor but are not rich either.
Analysis of Francis Bacon s The Four Idols Essay
Analysis of Francis Bacon s The Four Idols
In The Four Idols, Francis Bacon discusses the concept of what fundamentally stands
in the way of a human using the correct way of arriving upon a conclusion. Bacon
believes there are four falsehoods that delay people from uncovering what they need
to: the idols of the tribe, cave, marketplace and theater. At first I thought that these
idols did not apply to humans at all, but now, after careful consideration, I understand
how each idol relates to humankind.
The Idols of the Tribe represent the illusions of human nature: it refers to the idea that
our everyday problems arise simply because we are humans. For example, it is human
nature to think that there is more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When someone grows up in a neighborhood that differs from the rest of community
by way of religion, race, or values, for example, their decisions may be one sided,
for better or worse. People usually devote themselves to either one side or the other,
but in order to get a full understanding should study all sides equally and as
objectively as possible. Ultimately, Bacon declares that whatever intrigues one s mind
should be held in suspicion pending investigation in order to get a clearer
understanding.
The Idols of the Marketplace are illusions formed when people communicate with
one another. These illusions are caused by the misuse of words, which results in
misinterpretation. There are two classes in which the illusions may fall. The first
class consists of words that are invented with no meanings and do not exist. The
second class is made up of words that have double meanings. Let us take the word
liberal; there are countless ways an individual may interpret this word. One person
may associate it with becoming a progressive individual, while someone else may
connect it with being honorable through education. No matter the word, there are
always multiple ways to view and apply the meaning of a word to a situation.
The Idols of the Theater are illusions shaped when people believe what the authorities
tell them and do not bother to question the impressions put upon them. Bacon
believes that these received systems are created
Shell Mass And Acid Concentration Lab
Shells Mass and Acid Concentrations Lab
This lab started out when our class was reading an article on ocean acidification.
The article was explaining that ocean acidification has been increasing. Since the
industrial revolution in the early 1800s, the ocean s pH has dropped to 8.1, the
equivalent of a 30 percent increase in acidity. [1 hhmi] Our class began the lab to
prove the increase in acidification in the ocean. Our guiding question is, what does
different concentrations of acid do to shells? The hypothesis for the experiment is, the
different concentrations of acid will decrease the mass of the shells.
The experiment procedure is first, get your materials, shells, water, vinegar,

we don t take care of our body s when we are young, our life expectancy will
decrease. Soda dehydrates the body and over a long period of time it may cause
chronic dehydration. It is also bad for our teeths, a research done showed that
drinking soda regulary may cause cavities and gum disease. One of the things that I
have been wanting to change for a really long time is to stop drinking less soda or
completely stop drinking it. Drinking soda can lead to a lot of life threatening

Security Safety Needs Here we might include living in a safe area away from threats.
This level is more likely to be found in children as they have a greater need to feel

Body Physiological Needs On this level are the very basic needs for air, warmth,

and equilibrium (homeostasis).
Self Actualization
Self Actualization is described by Maslow as an ongoing process involved in a
cause outside their own skin. People on this need level, work at something very
precious. This is a vocation or a calling in the old priestly sense. These people are
very fine, healthy, strong, sagacious (that is, very smart) and creative.
Self Actualization was actually created by Kurt Goldstein in 1940 and later widely
used by Carl Rogers. Self actualization is defined as a basic force which drives the

Maslow also called self actualization need growth motivation or being needs (B

The Bank Robbery By Steven Schutzman Summary
The Bank Of Affection Love; it s a strange and peculiar concept to the human mind.
It has the power to affect one s persona drastically; it may make the meekest
individual strong and the most ardent person frail. Many falsely accuse the power of
endearment with a misnomer, often referred to as lust. The term lust is defined as an
intense desire. Between the crosshairs of loveand lust, lies an entity that is commonly
seen in many folly love struck youth. This strange facet of endearment is best
exemplified in the flash fiction story The Bank Robbery, written by Steven
Schutzman. The short story portrays the surprisingly bizarre, but tender, sense of
affection between a bank robber and a young bank teller. Through the usage of
similes, metaphors,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The eerie affinity between the two counterparts is best exemplified by the various
types of figurative language used by Steven Schutzman. Schutzman states the teller, a
young woman of about twenty five, felt the lights of her streets go on for the first
time (Schutzman 1), evidently describing the emotional impact the robber had on the
teller. Figuratively, this statement is an implicit comparison between the lights that
had lined her streets and the teller s discovery of love. This statement also
foreshadows the creation of a turbulent relationship between the two counterparts,
since it depicts a love at first sight moment that conclusively suggests that the folly
lovers will base their romance on short term desires rather than true love. In the
eleventh paragraph, the robber is seen stating Ah money...you are just like love
(Schutzman 1) , evidently proving his lustful adoration towards materialistic facets.
Schutzman implies, through this statement, that this is an example of a metaphor,
since it is an explicit comparison between money and love. The author uses this
metaphor, in order to epitomize the evident unstable romance that is created between
the bank robber and the teller. This statement indirectly implies the fact that the
relationship between the two counterparts is formed due to their lustful momentary
desires. In order

That does not mean, however, that you should worry about its capabilities. With a

The Obamacare A Kind Of Social Insurance Policy
United States (US) political deadlock seems to be an unbreakable problem. The
problem mainly comes from the relationship between two parties, the relations of
president and congress, and the voting system of the congress. Since US congress
and president controlled by two major political parties separately, gridlock seems
to be a certain problem in their terms of political responsibility. For instance,
president Obama announced his ambitious plan on health care issues. The
Obamacare a kind of social insurance policy by president Obama, also it is the
trigger of the gridlock at 2012. Political deadlock mainly comes from the differences
of ideology between two parties in terms of taxation, immigration, and others. This
paper analyzes the problem of the political deadlock in terms of controllability,
coalition.
Lack of controllability Mostly the political deadlock triggered by a debatable issue
or policy, such as Andrew Johnson s impeachment (1865), Civil Right Act (1957),
Bill Clinton s impeachment (1998), and Obamacare (2012). Debatable issue was not
the only trigger of political gridlock, political parties lacking controllability more
important than issues. Mostly, when the deadlock comes out, that was very few
deficits between both parties in the congress. In table 1, the democrat only controls
12 out of 51 seats in the senate, the controllability in the House of representative was
much better. They controls 80 out of 183, but the republican controlled other seats at
Argumentative Essay On Blood Tests
Published in the Journal of Neurotrauma on July 10, a new blood test may soon help
emergency room doctors to diagnose a traumatic brain injury and its severity with
greater speed. What benefits may arise from this new practice? First, it could locate
patients who will benefit from experimental treatment and extra therapy. Frederick
Korley, from John Hopkins University School of Medicine, said that compared to
measuring other proteins related to traumatic brain injury, BDNF predicts the outcome
with greater accuracy.

What is the advantage of predicting the outcome of TBI? Doctors can advise patients
early, and they can recommend whether or not they need to take time off work. In
addition, they can decide if the person will need followup treatment with a
neurologist.
This is extraordinarily important considering that TBI is a lead cause of disability
and death within the United States. With blood tests accurately identifying if a
patient has suffered from TBI, they can reduce the amount of unnecessary CT scans
by about 30 percent. We have seen a need for an accurate and faster screening tool.
Coupled with a CT scan, it becomes much easier to detect when things have gone
amiss. While 16 European countries regularly use blood tests as an accepted standard
for testing for TBI, the United States still only uses the CT scan.
What do doctors test for? In previous studies, researchers discovered that the protein
known as S 100B serum increased rapidly after brain injuries. Medical practitioners
plan to test the blood within four hours of an injury to predict if a patient will suffer
from hemorrhaging or skull fractures. While it does take 20 minutes to learn of the
results, it could spare numerous patients the need for unnecessary exposure to

Great sun flares, killing much of the population of earth, brought great destruction.
These flares, combined with a cureless disease become known as the Flare in this
futuristic science fiction novel, killed many people and leave the rest in an animal

scientists have formed together into WICKED (World in Catastrophe: Killzone

even if it requires great sacrifice. They ultimately decided to pull children from this
horrible place the world had come to. These children had high intelligence and great

Symbolism In The Wizard s Tide
The story The Wizard s Tide takes place during the Great Depression. The Great
Depression was an era of time in the US when the economy crashed after years of
prosperity. People who had once been living in large houses with many servants
and extravagant parties had to adjust to a much simpler lifestyle. Many people lost
their jobs, and were forced to downsize their houses and sell many of their
possessions. Faced with constant stress, many people during this time couldn t
cope with the sudden change very well and had major personality changes, usually
similar to the ones seen in the stages of grief. Some people, such as Teddy s father,
are in depression, and try to hide emotions and sadly reflect on the state of things or
try to hide emotions through drinking as a way of trying to cope. Others, such as
Teddy s mother, release their anger on others and try to find someone or something to
blame for the depression. The Great Depressionhas a huge impact on the personalities
of the characters in this book, and dictates the events we see take place.
The beach is a major symbol in the story The Wizard s Tide . While Teddy s family
is at the beach, everyone is happy. In this place, despite all the hardships that they
have gone through, they still find peace on this place. The shoreline represents
family and the bonds the family has together, while the water represents life as a
whole. Out in the water, many dangerous things can happen. If you re not a strong
swimmer, you risk
How Can Create A Blog
How To Create A Blog

2 Origin of Blog
The complete idea of creating blog came in late 90 s. Before its popularity there
were many digital communities in a form, were maintained like Usenet, GEnie,
BiX, Compuserve and Email lists. In early 1990 s, a software was create to run the
conversations on a forum named as Thread . In Threads, several messages are
linked with each other on a board related to one topic. The concept got popularity
and individuals created thousands of threads to discuss topics related to their
general lives as well as wide range of subjects. The current form of blog was begun

The Role of Television in Ending Segregaation in the United States
In 1964 segregation was banned in public places as part of The Civil Rights Act.
Leading on from this, things for black Americans improved until in the 1987 17
large US cities even had black mayors. But before these times there was segregation
everywhere, from schools and restaurants to buses and water fountains. Black and
white Americans simply did not mix. The decision for desegregation leads from a
number of things, with various forms of media playing a central part, including
television, and without this, could desegregation really have been obtained at all?

Previously it was unheard of for a black person to have a role in any film, unless it
was a degrading role such as a slave or an old cleaner. White men were more likely to
dress up as Negroes instead, but as the years passed there was a gradual change of the
image of black people and they were eventually accepted as stars, thanks especially to
remembered actors such as Sydney Poitier.
Images were shown both on television and in newspapers and books. Photographs
such as Source C, a picture of Elizabeth Eckford on her first day at Little Rock High
School showed the truth. We can see how the white citizens are reacting to the
enrolment of black pupils at their school, which once again provokes sympathy from
the white American s who were not fully aware of what was happening around them,
especially in the north, where racism wasn t nearly as extreme as it was in the
southern states.

Technological Advancement is Natural
Technological Advancement is Natural
As we enter the twenty first century, it is clear that many things about our method of
interacting with our environment are different than in previous centuries, and that, in
fact, the very philosophy of the man nature interaction may change again. Some look
forward to these changes. Others are fearful or condemnatory. In many cases, people
implicitly or explicitly argue that certain technologies are unnatural. They claim that
while certain technologies may be useful, other technologies represent a form of
Nature manipulation and this that tinkering is unwise. Since this argument may
appear in many places, it is important to critically analyze it. I feel that this argument

Polytheism identifies multiple supernatural beings who each exercise arbitrary
control over Nature, and all of whom may be good or evil and triumphant or
banished depending on random factors such as the phase of the moon and which
deity has the most priests and temples. Universalism identifies no supernatural being
separate from Nature itself, but affirms that Nature is, in the end, good. While
atheism , devil worship , fatalism and hedonism are also logically valid philosophies,
they take less time to explain, present fewer leads for philosophical study, and seem
not to have guided the actions of many people worthy of emulation. At any rate,
religious hierarchies played an important factor in world government for several
thousand years.
As a trivial example of how fundamental nature is in religious discourse, different
religions have, over time, prescribed different hair grooming standards. The early
Christian apostle Paul taught, Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man
have long hair, it is a shame unto him? (1 Cor. 11:14) Jewish men have long worn a
skull cap to cover the hair while praying. On the other hand, Sikh men believe that
the hair is sacred, and that to cut it (or let it be dirty) would be to defile it. When in
public places, they wear a turban to protect their hair from anything unclean. Their
respect for God created nature also leads them to refrain from eating any sort of meat.

The State Of The Field
By the advancement of technology within revolutionary eras, music industry has
been experiencing a world of change. To survive and compete with other industries
in the changing, music industry has been transformed since the 00s , which has
resulted in a new experience for the consumer and the cooperation. Because of the
fact that appears from most aspect of actors, it is crucial to analyse the state of the
field based on a deductive method as defined by D.R. Thomas and a theory of
referred by Fligstein and McAdams (2011) who have defined three states differing
slightly among unorganized or emerging, organized and stable but changing, and
organized and unstable and open to transformation (Fligstein and McAdams,
2011:11). In general, Igor Ansoff s theory that Strategic Action Fields acts in
response to environmental change is adopted to determine the state of the field.
However, it is not able to be accepted to define the entire music industryby these
terms due to a variety of effects that ancillary industries such as information
technology are including different parts of actors within the industry. Therefore,
exploring the terms about whether established, emerging, and declining is a
necessary thing to describe the state of strategic field. The term emerging in terms of
SAF does not fully translated to the field such as music industry which is established
on the whole but contains some aspects within it which are constantly changing. In
result, the entire music

killed and the Normans gained control of England. On Christmas Day 1066, William
was crowned King of England.
The Norman Conquest had important consequences on all levels, including the
linguistic one. English phonetics, vocabulary, morphology and also syntax were

At the moment, the conquest probably came as a disaster for the English people, as
the Normans brought their new territory under control with systematic rigour. After
the English royal family had been destroyed in the battle, the new king established his
own regime. At the time, Normandy had an advanced feudal system of political
organisation, which accelerated the establishment of feudalism in Britain. Moreover,
most of the representatives of the native nobility were eliminated and a French

Baz Luhrmann Romeo And Juliet
There are countless ways to interpret a Shakespeare play, particularly the tragedy of
Romeo and Juliet. In the 1996 adaptation, Romeo + Juliet, director Baz Luhrmann
uses film techniques such as shadows, contrast between actors and background, the
interruption of non diegetic sounds with brief diegetic sounds, close upshots, shots
from varying angles, and cuts to different faces in order to show the similarity of
Romeo and Juliet and the difficulties that lie ahead for their relationship. These
choices combine to create a cohesive scene that both follows the basic plot of the play
and interprets the play in Luhrmann s own unique way, setting up the tragedy by
interjecting moments of foreboding into an otherwise light and romantic scene. The...

It cuts back to Romeo once, but then there is a long shot of Juliet being tugged by
her maid up the stairs, building suspense until Juliet s lineage is finally revealed to
Romeo. The music becomes decidedly grim here, slowing down and turning into a
fully minor key. In the next cuts between the two lovers, the angles are very
telling. Juliet is shot from below, giving her the appearance of being above both
the party goers and Romeo. Romeo, on the other hand, is shot from above, putting
him in a sort of victim position where he appears to be lesser or subordinate to her.
In a sense, this is true, as Romeo s infatuation with the young Capulet pushes him
to great lengths in his attempt to be with her. As Lord and Lady Capulet leave,
Juliet stays back to look down upon him, giving them one last brief glimpse of each
other before he fully realizes who she is, and she him (with the help of her maid).
When the camera goes back to Romeo, it slowly zooms out farther away from him,
emphasizing the physical and political distances that divide the lovers. Conversely,
the camera zooms in to Juliet s face in order to show her expressions as she
experiences shock and turmoil at the discovery that Romeo is a Montague. Both of
them seem to be in disbelief over these

Abstract
Universal Design is all around us, not just in some of the products that we use but
also in education. According to one article Universal design in education is a
framework of instruction that aims to be inclusive of different learning preferences
and learners (Black, D. R., Weinberg, L. A., Brodwin, M. G, 2015). There are so
many different approaches that a teacher can use in the classroom involving universal
design. In the use of universal design there is also a wide range of practices that I as
a special education teacher can use in the classroom. Universal Design in Education

In the article Universal Design for Early Childhood Education: Ensuring Access
and Equity for All it states that children are not defined by their disability, but
rather, their disability represents a characteristic, one mere facet of who they are
and how they interact with the world (Darragh, J. 2007). As a special education
teacher I need to be open to new ideas on how to teach my students. I will have
students with a wide range of disabilities from mild to moderate to severe.
Incorporating universal design in my lessons and within my classroom is just one
practice that will help my students. Universal design opens up the doors to so many
new ideas that can be used in the classroom to help adapt lessons for my students.
As a special education teacher I realize that not every student will learn the same
way, each of my students will have their own way of learning some might pick
things up quickly while others might take some time. In my classroom I can use the
SmartBoard to help in many different types of lessons from math through science and
even English. My students can use the computer to play fun and instructional games
that can help with speech and language and even math. In conclusion, Universal
design has opened up so many different doors for teachers in and outside of the
classroom. From the use of adaptive technology to lesson planning there is so
The Pain Scale
In the article The Pain Scale , Biss is giving a proposal to definition of the pain
scale. The author scaled the pain in a numeric values represented by a scale from
zero to ten. First, is the zero scale. As Biss described herself as some one who
generate question instead of answering them, she thinks that paincannot be
eliminated. Meaning, zero cannot explain a situation, just like its numerical value,
we cannot apply some computational operations to it. Then, the author goes to
explain how zero is interpreted in Celsius and Kelvin. To illustrate her point, she
used the chicken as an example. The concept of the chicken example is that when
we grab the chicken by its feet and the chicken is not complaining, that does not
mean that the chicken is in no pain. The moral of zero pain is that either the pain
cannot be expressed or it can not be felt. Second, the author started with the stories
of how she was taught what is pain and who invented the scale of zero to ten pain
scale. For example, Biss s father told her that an itch is just a damaged tissue. Biss
then asks a very complex question, she said When does pain worth measuring?
With poison ivy? With a hang nail?... A razor cut? This shows how complex it is to
judge where the pain begins. Even with a trained hospice nurses, not every pain can
be identified. Biss conclude the scale one by assuming that zero and one are close to
each other to the point where they might equal each other. Third, the scale numbertwo

Hypovolemia Case Studies
Question 1:
Hypovolemia can be due to many predisposing factors such as fracture and surgery.
The patient experienced a type of open fracture which is categorize by a wound in
combination with the fracture (Whiteing, N., 2008, p. 50). Open Reduction Internal
Fixation (ORIF) is the most common surgical technique for patients with open
fracture which also includes tibia and fibula (William, L Hopper, P., 2011, p. 1071).
Since it was a major surgery massive blood loss or hypovolemia can be experience by
a patient who will undergo this procedure. Craft, J., Gordon C., Tiziani, A. (2011, p.

blood loss since they have limited physiological replacement. Thus, considering
the age and the surgical procedure the patient is at high risk of hypovolemia. If the
loss of blood progresses and the body is unable to compensate, the patient will be
at risk for hypovolemic shock (D Angelo, M., Dutton, R., 2009, p. 279).
Hypovolemic shock means deficit in flowing blood causing to ineffectively filing
the intravascular space. Mamaril, M., Child, S., Sortman, S., 2007, p. 191.
Kolecki, P., Menckhoff, C. (2014) emphasizes that there are four (4) classification
of hypovolemic shock. Class 1 is when there is 0 15% of blood loss with only
slight change in heart rate. If the patient heart rate becomes more than 100 beats per
minute and they experience tachypnoea and has cool clammy skin, the patient is in
the class 2 of hypovolemic shock. Class 3 and 4 is when the patient will manifest
the severe sympathetic response of the body due to the inability of compensate with
the blood loss. Thus, considering the age and the surgical procedure the patient is at
high risk of hypovolemia or even the more severe
State Fidelity In The Odyssey
Odysseus, the main character of The Odyssey, is a man of great courage who is
married to Penelope, Queen of Ithaca. Even though it is clear that Odysseus is
married to Penelope, he is involved in intimate relations with a few goddesses on his
journey home to Ithaca from the Trojan War. For example, regardless of Odysseus
longing to return home, he is tempted first by Calypso, spending eight years
imprisoned on her island, and ultimately remaining true to Penelope in his heart.
Also, he spends a year with Circe, a seductress, in order to liberate his men from
living as swine. Furthermore, Odysseus faithfulness to Penelope is almost
compromised when he and his men pass the Sirens women who entice men to their
death utilizing their beautiful voices. Additionally, Greek and Christian marriage
standards are distinctly different. Christians believe that marriage is a sacrament, or
union between one man and one woman that is blessed by the church, while pagans
hold to a belief of self uniting marriage known as handfasting a historical term for a
betrothal or wedding that is sometimes acknowledged as a temporary engagement.

Analysis and findings
This section will look on the importance of finance and accounting for businesses that
were looked at in the Literature Review. Also it will argue the ethics of accounting
and finance in business due to current accounting scandals.
Businesses need accounting information in order to make knowledgeable
decisions. Creditors and other lenders want to make sure that they will be paid
back for the credit that they have given to a business as suggested by Wood and
Sangster(2012, p.9). These decisions done by financial professionals have to
administer and determine credit policy, make capital budgeting decisions and advise
on debts and preferred stock to enhance profitability as portrayed by Harold Bierman
(2010, p. 3). Therefore, financial reports are important for making financial decisions
for business.
In addition accounting and finance are important during this time of uncertainty such
as slow growth in the economy, debt and crisis. Thus financial information will seek
to stabilise current growth and future state of the business. As suggested by the
President of European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, on the current euro zone
debt crisis that, banks should set aside more assets to help safeguard against future
losses. Thus accounting and finance have to play a significant role in the rising of
new capital to improve confidence that they could cope
Isaac Newton Light
As a result of Sir Isaac Newton s experiment, humans are able to have an
understanding of the light color spectrum; consisting of visible light, colors, and
electromagnetic radiation, the light color spectrum is only a very small portion of the
electromagnetic spectrum.
In 1666, Sir Isaac Newton set up an experiment that required a hole in a window
shade, a glass prism, daylight, and a darkened room. As the ray of daylight entered
the room, its beam passed through the prism. The light therefore then displayed onto
a further off white wall as a dispersing beam made up of various colors. This sight
led to Newton s conclusion that white light comprises of numerous types of light,
each being from a single pure color bent in differing angle degrees. Now using a
converging lens to block out some colors and refuse others, Newton continued his
experiment. Consequently, he discovered that the new visible colors had appeared
entirely distant than the ones found in the natural developing spectrums. ... Show

Although all electromagnetic radiation is light, our eyes can only perceive a small
portion, known as the visible light spectrum. Other names for the visible light
spectrum are known as the optical spectrum of light and the spectrum of white light.
We can see only a little portion of the spectrum for the reason being that some parts of
the visible spectrum contains wavelengths that are either too big or too small and
energetic for the human eye to comprehend. The additional wavelengths and
frequencies that are included in electromagnetic radiation and not in the visible light
spectrum are basically invisible to the human

aggressive trait Data: It was noted that aggressive people tended to be the first to
suggest their opinions on group activities. They tended to be very outspoken and
always seeking agreement on their suggestions. When opposition was encountered
they would then steer opinion back to their side of thought by questioning and
demeaning the reasons and intentions of those opposing them. On a more positive
note they are also the ones who would waste least time in implementing actions
that were needed to be implemented. In one occasion a female member during an
emergency was the first always to call the relevant parties and begin to sort the
problem while other members still pondered the decisions or closed up without
suggestion. They tend not to doubt their decisions. They best get along with
passive people to varying degrees. Some feel like elder siblings while others have
a more dominating concept. With assertive people there is more conflict but also a
lot of grudging compromises based on reasoning. For example one member of a
group would only back down from a point when all other members were seen to be
against the suggestion and their opinion of the member could be seen to be
degrading. There is much more conflict and a lot less compromise with aggressive
people as both will try to force their
Breastfeeding And Human Milk Has Many Health Benefits
For...
Scientific studies have shown that Breastfeeding or human milk has Many health
benefits for mother and baby that are both short and long term. Breast feeding has
been endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of
Family Physicians, CDC, US Department of health and human services, office of
surgeon general along with Many others. Nearly All of the agencies involving
children provide some form of education on breastfeeding, for example when to
breastfeed, how long to breastfeed, benefits of breastfeeding, supporting
breastfeeding in service or flyer form as well as support groups/staff but none
provide information on where a mother can breastfeed when in public. Even
though all agencies have come together and agreed that this country has a problem
in providing support to breastfeeding mothers. None have made initiatives to
provide a place for a mother to nurse or express milk while in public. Requiring
large chain stores like Walmart, target, Kroger and HEB post signs informing the
public of a mothers the right to breastfeed and help mothers fight against
discrimination by providing guidelines for business in order for them to provide a
private area for breastfeeding mothers to feed their babies while in public.
Designating a small private space out of the public eye, for a mother to feed her baby
or express breast milk. In supporting a nursing mother, we can improve woman and
children s health, Boost the economy and improve the environment.

Russell Conwell Research Paper
Amongst the plethora of great minds and influences that powered the 19th Century,
such as business moogle J.D. Rockefeller and revolutionary industrialist Andrew
Carnegie, only a select few can compare to the enormous legacy left behind by the
charismatic and philanthropic Dr. Russell Herman Conwell. Considered as one of
the most brilliant thinkers and passionate orators of his time; Russell Conwell
became quite an admirable man because of his modest beginnings as a farmer in
Massachusetts, who then transcended himself into the foremost educational
entrepreneur of the Gilded Age. The documents and sources provided by Temple
University s Library to preserve Russell Conwell s history are sufficient enough to
bestow insight in regard to this great man s life, nonetheless, many of the facts
relative to Conwell s personal life and military service are still shrouded in mystery
despite the collection offered by the exhibit.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although the online documents claim that his militia was disbanded after they
experienced light action Conwell later rejoined late in the summer and was deemed
the captain of Company D, Second Regiment, Massachusetts Heavy Artillery. Aside
from this excerpt regarding Conwell s military service, the remaining sources and
articles provide no additional information in connection to the remainder of Conwell
s service as well as other missing details from his personal life which proves to be
an enormous pitfall of the exhibit. In spite of neglecting some of the more historically
relevant information, the exhibit tends to focus on the byproduct of Conwell s life
and the legacy that he left
The Potlatches of Northwestern Tribes
In the Metropolitan Museum of art there is a wide verity of objects for the
Northwest tribes. In the Northwest coast music is highly associated with
ceremonies and feasts known as the potlatches. Potlatches were held by a host to
establish or uphold his status position in society. Other times they were to signify
a significant event in his family like the birth of a child, a daughter s first menses,
or a son s marriage. Potlatches are to be successful and guests are invited to a
potlatch to share food and receive gifts or payment. The host provides everything
from food, drink, entertainment and, also his gifts to each of his guests. The value of
the gift depends on the social status of the recipient, the higher the respect for him
the more valuable the gift is. If his gift in not that valuable or wanted it would look
bad for the provider. If this happens the host must add another gift to satisfy his guest.
A potlatch can last for several days when celebrating a passing spirit that contains
feasting, singing, performing ritual dances, competitions and other events.
During these potlatches the events is traditionally marked by ceremonial dances and
also by songs. The songs get an extra effect by providing whistles, rattles, and
specific vocal utterances. Whistles are associated with the spirits. A main element
used by the Northwest coast is the beat of a drum. They are known to play individual
hand drums with one another instead of playing a one giant drum like in the Great
Women s Influence On Women
Women are most likely to be discriminated for their gender and are made less than
man in any type of activity in society. The men usually tries to make the women feel
bad about their gender by telling them that they are not worth anything but in reality
if a women decides to she can overcome all the obstacles even better than a men.
Women are also different than men in the way they interact with each other
(physically and socially). According to the author In public places, men touch women
more often than women touch men. Men also touch women in more places on the
body than women touch men (Andersen, 2015, pg.3). In our society the women s
reputation is always questioned or put to risk when performing any type of action. In
many cultures... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first thing females would do is criticize my outfit, especially if that female is with
her friends. I can even predict their judgements especially if I am wearing a

The first thing females do is criticize at other females because of her physical
aspect. Media also plays a role because as a society we tend to adopt the idea that
the only top models are perfect and that anyone else can t have the top model s
appearance. According to the author Images of women s beauty and implicit ratings
of their bodies are rampant throughout the culture (Andersen, 2015, p. 55). On the
contrary, the male s reaction towards my physical appearance is usually directed to
sexual reactions. For example, if a male observes that I am wearing a provocative
outfit he would think she wants a sexual relationship, but the female is wearing a
conservative outfit he would then turn at the female s actions. Therefore if the female
smiles, the male feels that she desperately wants him and this will encourage the male
to establish communication with the female. Our cultural system have gave men the
power of being the dominant gender. Furthermore our society has permitted than
males than women are property of males. Males believe that females go to bars to
encounter a sexual relation. According to the author Music videos, video games,
crime shows, even popular entertainment magazines such as
Sleeping With Sirens Analysis
Sleeping with Sirens is the best band in my opinion. Everyone should listen to
them. Sleeping with Sirens (SWS) is an alternative rock band. Most people say their
type of music is just noise. You can t judge a band s music just buy how loud it is. I ll
have you know that noise has a meaning to it. Let s take their song Fire for example,
this song is about self harm and to this specific person (Kellin Quinn) it s like fire

Sirens A Trophy Father s Trophy Son This song is about a boy who is becoming
older (maybe a teenager) and is starting to now wonder where his father is and why
he left him. The song says, It s been hell not having you here, I ve been missing you
so bad and you don t seem to care. Maybe the son has tried to contact his father but
he won t listen and shakes him off. Do you even miss us; your bottle s your
mistress. His father is a drunk who probably left his family for alcohol. Why are
you walking away? Was it something I did, did I make a mistake? Kellin thinks it
s his fault his father left. I don t understand. Is this this how it ends? He thinks he
will never see his father again and doesn t understand what he did wrong. Is this
what you call a family? Spent seven years wishing that you d draw the line, but I
carry the thought along with you in my mind. He wishes his father would just say
he wasn t coming back or he was, wishing he would make up his mind. At this
point he doesn t know if he can even call it a family since part of it is missing. He

Wrigley Case
EFB340 FINANCE CAPSTONE
Case Study 1 The William Wrigley Jr. Company: Capital Structure, Valuation, and
Cost of Capital
Group: 4 4
ABSTRACT
This report examines the impact a $3 billion bond issue will have on the value of
the William Wrigley Jr. Company. When analysing its various impacts, the
expectations that arise as a result of the leveraged recapitalisation include an
increase in the share price amp; cost of capital and reduced earnings per share. In
essence, the potential benefits of a $3 billion bond issue are outweighed by the
costs. Other potential impacts were considered and it was expected that the debt
issue would lead to an increased agency cost of debt while voting control was not
expected to change. The signal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In comparison the share price after the share repurchase scheme was projected to be
$77.87 (appendix 2). This represents an increase of 38.14% and this option would
offer the greatest upside and superior return when looking only at the benefits of
investment for Wrigley s shareholders. 3.2 IMPACT ON WEIGHTED AVERAGE
COST OF CAPITAL (WACC)
WACC is the rate used to discount future cash flows of a firm to their present
value. By minimising WACC firms are able to increase the value of the firm. For
debt to affect value, there have to be tangible benefits and costs associated with
using debt instead of equity. If the benefits exceed the costs, there will be a gain in
value to equity investors from the use of debt. If the benefits are less than the
costs, increasing debt will lower value (Myers, 2001). Following a $3 billion
leveraged recapitalisation, the investment grade of Wrigley decreases from AAA
to BB/B and consequently the cost of debt increases to 13% (see appendix 9) which
is greater than the post capitalisation cost of equity of 9.84% (see appendix 8). It is
for this reason that the WACC increases from 9.24% to 9.49% (see appendices 5 10)
which results in a reduction in firm value. 3.3 IMPACT ON EARNINGS PER
SHARE
Profit is often expressed as Earnings per Share (EPS) and is calculated as operating
income divided by total amount of common shares (Ross, Westerfield, Jordan,
Thompson, amp; Christensen, 2007, p. 51). EPS has two
General Baptist Atonement Theory
They rallied around the thinking that Christ death has general purpose, which implies
that anyone who choose to believe in Christ can be saved. John Calvin taught that
only the predestined may be saved. The theory of the General Baptists also
maintained the principle of the possibility of falling from grace . Its members were
English refugees who had fled England to escape religious persecution. Later the
Particular Baptist surfaced led by leaders under the influenced of Calvinism, they
taught a particular atonement. To define atonement the dictionary gives the meaning
as the Theology, the doctrine concerning the reconciliation of Godand humankind,
especially as accomplished through the life, suffering and death of Christ. The
Particular believed Christ died not for all mankind but for only the Particular in other
words the elect. John Smyth a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conservative Baptists had no justification for a separate existence except their loyalty
to what they believed the Scriptures to teach, their conviction that teaching of the
Scripture must be followed without compromise. (Shelley/Atlas) Leaders of this
movement did not initially embrace separation as a basic principle of action. They
wanted rather a theological grounded means to channel their missionary volunteers
and dollars to the mission fields, and they had hoped that this could be done under
recognition if not the good wishes of the Northern Baptist convention.
Conservative Baptists are independent minded people. This independence can be
trace, in part to the frustrations Baptist Fundamentalists faced in the 1920s and the
1940s as they sought to check the drift of their Northern Baptist Convention. The
Council refused to allow the issue involving the Conservative Baptist Foreign
Mission Society to be brought before the Convention

reviewed the current position of Samsung in the semiconductor and memory chip
industry, and has completed an extensive internal and external analysis to determine
Samsung s options in response to the threat of significant future expansion within the
Chinese semiconductor industry. It is our opinion that Samsung should begin an

Elpida Memory is the only DRAM producer left in Japan. Their strategic focus is on
memory chips for smaller devices, such as cell phones, gaming systems, and other
consumer electronics. In 2004, they added another production facility in an attempt
to increase output, and increase market share. Elpida manufactures advanced
memory technologies, like double data rate (DDR) DRAMs and Rambus based
DRAMs, in addition to standard memory modules. They have investment ties to
Nintendo, Hitachi, and Intel. Hynix Semiconductor is the second largest memory
chip manufacturer in Korea behind Samsung. Hynix has suffered over the last 6
years as a result of poor economic decisions, and legal troubles in the United States.
Hynix still manufactures DRAM and other standard memory chips, but sold most of
their other businesses to avoid bankruptcy as a result of their former debt. Despite
financial troubles, Hynix has recently decided to collaborate with a Chinese company
to build a new production plant in China. Hynix accounts for almost two thirds of the
memory chip sales in Asia. Infineon Technologies is a German based company, and
has manufactured semiconductors since the start of the technological revolution.
Infineon has more than 25 locations for research and development spread all over the
world. They have significant financial and business development ties to various
smaller memory chip companies. Three quarters of Infineon s sales are in Asia and

Patty Hearst Turning Point
At the time when the event of the Patty Hearst trial happened, the United States had
a period of change in the nation. At 1960s, The war between United Sates and
Vietnam was the essential task for the whole country. Moreover, African Americans
were protesting and fighting for equal rights, feminists formed feminism groups and
dedicated in getting their suffrage. The goal for the society suddenly changed to a
totally different direction after the 60s when the Vietnam war was ended and African
Americans and feminist groups reached most of their goals. It was a turning point as
a new period for the United States. The economy experienced a recession during the
1970s. Under the stress of living, money was considered to be the most important...

Patty Hearst to use her family s society influence for achieving their antisocial
goals. They asked the Hearst family to donate food that values over 2 million
dollars to the poor in the bay area. However, they refused to release Patty Hearst
after the Hearst family did what they asked them to. A video of Patty Hearst herself
announcing she became one of the SLA terrorists group was published at the time.
On the tape, Hearst says: I have been given the choice of being released...or joining
the forces of the Symbionese Liberation Army and fighting for my freedom and the
freedom of all oppressed people. I have chosen to stay and fight. Hearst further
announced that she had accepted the name Tania, after a comrade who fought
alongside Che in Bolivia. ( Patty Hearst Trial Douglas O. Linder ,2007)
The event caused some disorder in the society. People questioned about whether
Patty Hearst was forced to do what she did or she did it in her free will was the one
common topic that everyone was arguing about. FBI tried to trace Patty Hearst and
bring her home, but she was escaped with the SLA members and
Buffalo Soldiers Sparknotes
Gather around boys and girls to hear a story about the men forgotten by the world,
said the story teller. All the boys and girls gathered around the old wrinkly and tall
black man. What s the story about Mr. Washington, said Jimmy. Well let s get to it
and find out then, we begin in way back 1865 and it was the year slaves had been
freed . The white men had pushed the Indians off their land around 1848 and put them
on reservations, but they needed a strong group of men to fight them. In what was
born in 1866, the 1st official United States African Americanfighters were born.

I will get to that, said, Mr. Washington. You see the native Americans were not
making fun of the new fighters, they were simply giving them a name that
explained to the other native Americans who they were. The buffalo was tough,
brave, and meant to be respected. So, therefore the black men were just like them
and that s why they called them that. These strong brave men were not only
fighters but they also had other jobs too. They had way more responsibility then
the white fighters. The Buffalo Soldiers had to herd cattle, escort settlers, and
railroad crews. They also, had to set up camp for the white armies and make roads
to travel on, but one of the greatest they did was they fought in the civil war. They
did a lot more than what we give credit to them. The buffalo soldiers have been
forgotten throughout history and some don t even know who they are. These men
are one of the greatest in African American history because they helped pave the
way for all equality and freedom for you and me. Now kids you see how important
the buffalo soiders are, said Mr. Washington. Yes, said, all the children. I didn t
know who the Buffalo soldiers are at first and now I do, and I will always be thankful
to what they did and helped accomplish for our country . Said Lucy. Yep, that s right
. Said Mr.
The Importance Of Growth In Human Growth
Human growth relies on both genetics and environment to reach an optimal fitness
that is advantageous for productive reproduction. Growth refers to increase in
physical size that is measurable. Stature is one kind of growth that is complex to
understand as both human variation as well as secular trends can affect stature.
Secular trends are shifts within a measurable time period that can affect humans. For
example, past the industrial revolution, humans began to increase in size and also
experienced earlier maturation. Specifically, in the article by Pes et al., A secular
trend in body height, namely its progressive increase over more than a century has
also be documented in the Sardinian population, (Pes et al., 5). The measureable
amount of time is not the only note for change, as several factors can influence
growth that include: genetics, economic status, culture, ecology, nutrition, disease, as
well as stress. A few of these factors are discussed in Pes s article.
The subject of nutrition was a factor of body height increase, since the increase in
height was, ...caused by the increase in limb length rather than trunk length, which
strengthens further the suggested influence of environmental and/or nutritional
factors, (Pes et al., 5). The article further explains that short legs are an indication of
poor prepubertal nutrition (Pes et al., 5). Another secular trend that was noted in the
article was the effect of disease on Sardinian stature. The stature of Sardinians
Causes Of Climate Change
What are the main contributing factors in climate change, and what should we do
about it?
Climate change is undeniably one of the biggest problems which the world at large is
currently having to deal with. There are many factors that are causing climate change
but more importantly, there are numerous ways to combat it.
One of countless examples is environmental damage. Through this issue, mega
cities like Delhi which is the capital city of economically developing India suffer
constantly with problems like smog. Due to New Delhi being blanketed in thick
smog, their very own chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has labelled the mega city as
a gas chamber . This major problem leads to severe consequences which were
suffered at the hands of the Delhi citizens who were choking, rendering them unable
to breathe properly. It is clear that the smog that floats above cities is the most
obvious form of air pollution and in turn, environmental pollution. In megacities like
Mexico City, cars are indeed the main source of pollutants and an effective way to
combat this problem is introducing electric cars which do not run on petrol or diesel.
Electric cars reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions where common fuel
would emit a large quantity of carbon dioxide and additional gases. If these gases
were to pollute the air, it could contribute to the greenhouse effect and thus, lead to
global warming. One pollutant related to climate change and is in actual fact an
element of smog, is
Reflecting on Literature and Community in The Lesson”
by...
When people tell stories they tend to be about what they know. One thing that most
people know is the environment around them. They pick up habits from their family,
friends, and neighbors. They begin to talk like them using dialect and slang inherent
to their region. Also, it is not uncommon for people to write about a fictional
community that is based from their own community. As community affects how we
write, writingcan also affect the community. In other words, communities influence
authors of literature and literature can also influence communities. Language is how
we express ourselves. There are many different languages in our world. Within those
languages there are different dialects. Those dialects are affected by the... Show more

As I read this story I felt like my inner voice was developing a Southern Drawl.
Faulkner s writing is extremely eloquent and deliberate. The time period also comes
out through the language in his writing referring to African Americans as Negros and
to Northerners as Yankees. It soon becomes quite obvious that Faulkner must have
been raised in the same time and place this story takes place. Communities do not
only affect the language of the author but they also can provide the community of the
author s work. Some communities act like an extended family and an author may
want to show that aspect. Sometimes an author may wish to write about a close knit
community that knows everyone else s business. Often a writer will write about their
community, illustrating certain cultural aspects that they hold dear. All of these can
be examples of the writer s community coming to life in their own stories. In A
Rose for Emily, (DiYanni, 2007, pp. 79 84) Faulkner shows us a community that is
very involved with each other. They are constantly talking about what Miss Emily
does, what she says, and who she sees. The author speaks for the community using
the pronoun we throughout the story. He describes how the community reacts to
Homer Barron trying to court her, At first we were glad that Miss Emily would
have an interest... (p. 82). Everyone becomes very interested in Miss Emily s love
life. When she buys poison they become worried that she was
Martin Luther And John Calvin
Martin Luther and John Calvin were both leaders in the Protestant Reformation.
Martin Luther was a monk, or priest, in the Augustinian friars order and his ideals
were that Catholicism were corrupting the New Testament beliefs and people were
saved by faith alone not by buying their way into heaven. John Calvinstudied law but
in 1533 he experienced a religious crisis, as a result of which he converted from
Catholicism to Protestantism. Calvin believed that God had specifically selected
him to reform the church (McKay et al., 2015, pg. 448). The cornerstone of Calvin s
theology was his belief in the absolute sovereignty and omnipotence of God and the
total weakness of humanity (McKay et al., 2015, pg. 448). With the help of the
printing press, Martin Luther was able to get his ideas out more quickly. Much of
central Europe and Scandinavia had broken with the Catholic church I a movement
that came to be known as the protestant reformation(McKay et al., 2015, pg. 439).
Critics of the church had focused their attacks on immortality, ignorance, and
absenteeism of the clergy in the early 16th century. Luther had studied St. Paul s
letters in the New Testament when he realized that salvation and justification came
through faith, and that faith is a giddy from God, not the result of Hickman effort
(McKay et al., 2015, pg. 440). Luther was troubled that people didn t have to repent
after they would buy these indulgences. Christianity rid itself of certain corrupt
Stars, I Have Seen Them Fall
Impact of Art Art is used to express certain messages and themes. Differing forms of
art can show the same theme through varying expressions. Depictions of stars create
incredible artwork. Artists and poets can express their ideas of stars through unique
pieces. All of the pieces are connected in a way that impacts the audience differently.
Stars can be described through poetryin many different ways, while having the same
idea, but differing themes. In Stars, I Have Seen Them Fall, the author explains
that the loss of one star makes no difference in the sky, Stars, I have seen them fall,
/ But when they drop and die / No star is lost at all / From all the star sown sky
(Housman 1 4). No matter how many stars fall, there will still

  • 1. College Essay Templates Crafting an essay on the subject of "College Essay Templates" can be both a challenging and rewarding endeavor. On one hand, the topic necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved in creating an effective essay template tailored specifically for the college application process. On the other hand, it demands a certain level of introspection and self- awareness to communicate one's unique qualities, experiences, and aspirations in a compelling manner. The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between adhering to a structured template and infusing personal authenticity. Templates, while providing a framework, can be restrictive if followed too rigidly, leading to generic and uninspiring narratives. Conversely, deviating too far from the template might result in a lack of coherence or a failure to address key aspects essential for a successful college essay. Moreover, the challenge extends to the need for originality. Given the vast number of applicants and the competitive nature of college admissions, creating an essay that stands out from the crowd is no easy feat. It requires not only a creative approach to storytelling but also a keen understanding of the specific requirements and expectations of the target institutions. Researching and understanding the nuances of different college essay prompts, adapting the template to align with each institution's values, and ensuring that the essay reflects both personal growth and a genuine desire to contribute to the academic community further contribute to the complexity of the task. In conclusion, while writing an essay on "College Essay Templates" demands a delicate balance between structure and personal expression, the challenge is also an opportunity for self-discovery and growth. Crafting a memorable and impactful essay requires time, effort, and a thorough understanding of the nuances involved in the college application process. If you find yourself struggling with this task or any similar writing challenges, it's worth noting that assistance is available. Services like HelpWriting.net offer support in crafting essays tailored to specific needs and topics, providing a valuable resource for those navigating the complexities of academic writing. The client complains of a pounding headache for the last 12 hours unrelieved by acetaminophen (Tylenol), swollen hands and face for 2 days, and epigastric pain described as bad heartburn. Her sister tells the nurse, I felt like that when I had toxemia during my pregnancy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pathophysiology of Preeclampsia There is no definitive cause of preeclampsia, but the pathophysiology is distinct. The main pathogenic factor is poor perfusion as a result of arteriolar vasospasm. Function in organs such as the placenta, liver, brain, and kidneys can be depressed as much as 40 to 60%. As fluid shifts out of the intravascular compartment, a decrease in plasma volume and subsequent increase in hematocrit is seen. The edema of preeclampsia is generalized. Virtually all organ systems are affected by this disease, and the mother and fetus suffer increasing risk as the disease progresses. Preeclampsia develops after 20 weeks gestation in a previously normotensive woman. Elevated blood pressure is frequently the first sign of preeclampsia. The client also develops proteinuria. While no longer considered a diagnostic measurement of preeclampsia, generalized edema of the face, hands, and abdomen that is not responsive to 12 hours of bedrest is often present. Preeclampsia progresses along a continuum from mild to severe preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, or eclampsia. A client may present to the labor unit anywhere along that continuum. 3. What is the pathophysiology responsible for Jennie s complaint of a pounding headache and the elevated DTRs? [pic]A) Cerebral edema. [pic]B) Increased perfusion to the brain. [pic]C) Severe anxiety. He loved mingling with people to boost his own self image. He loved to impress people with his cowboyism, his collection of guns, and his pintsize spectacles. Also, Roosevelt was a direct actionist. He wanted to keep the country moving foward and preserve his public image at the same time. It s no surprise that his bullyish attitude would extend to forgein policies. Another time of Roosevelt s bullyish attitude , so he can impress his fellow countrymen was his dealing with Panama. The Panamanians feared that the United States would build on the Nicaraguan route. The angry Panamanians revolted , but U.S. forces crushed the uprising. Roosevelt moved quickly and negotiated that the zone would be widened from six to ten miles and the price would remain the same. People thought that Roosevelt created the impression that he was sent secretly to settle the problem. The truth of the matter is , election was very soon and he did not want to lose his supporters. • 6. Dances With Wolves Essay Dances With Wolves No matter how you choose to categorize human beings, whether by race or religion, nationality or gender, the resultant categories will display at least one immutable constant. Each group, no matter how diverse their beliefs or how dissimilar their behaviors, will contain men of honest and peaceful natures as well as men of divisive and violent natures. In the film Dances With Wolves, we are exposed to two distinct categories of people inhabiting post civil war America, the white man and the Native American. We, most likely, begin the movie with defined ideas as to which group contains honest, peaceful men and which group contains violent and savage men. We are, however, exposed to behaviors which are in opposition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, compassionate, thinking white men are definitely in the minority in this film. When John begins his Westward move, the crude, maniacal white man makes his reappearance. The officer who gives John the information about getting to his new post appears to be downright insane and apparently kills himself. The guide who accompanies John to his post is also no prize. John refers to him as the foulest man alive (Dances with Wolves). This constant exposure to the violent and crude men who make up the white race is an effective first step in shifting our sympathies. We want to distance ourselves from these shameful characters. We don t want to identify with them. Our first exposure to Indians is a mere suggestion of the expected stereotype. We are shown a skeleton on the ground with an arrow stuck through it. So far so good. We are accustomed to that image. Dunbar s guide states that Indians are nothin but thieves and beggars and that you only want to see them when they are dead (Dances with Wolves). He, of course, is such an exemplary man that it s not ironic at all to hear him degrading someone else. From the beginning of the film we are given hints that Dunbar is not like his fellow ugly Americans. When John and his guide arrive at the deserted Fort, the guide is in a hurry to be away. He is nervous and uncomfortable and thinks nothing of leaving without accomplishing what he was sent to do.

Hawaii The Land Of Many Summary In my opinion, reading 1 (Hawaii: The Land of Many) is more informative and useful for a person who knows nothing about the sugar plantations in Hawaii in the 1800s. I would suggest using reading 1 because it talks about the entire history, as opposed to reading 2 which talks about the shutting down of the plantations today. This reading teaches the reader about the sugar plantations and the life of the laborers that worked on these sugar plantations. Reading 1 states that the sugar industry boomed in the 1800s which caused the need of plantation workers. They had recruits different countries that lived on the plantation. Laborers had to sign a contract saying they would work for a certain amount of time. Plantation supervisors whipped those
  • 8. Notes On The Rise Ra Out Of The Horizon I chisel away at the limestone; I am writing on a tablet. It reads Rise Ra out of the horizon . I was ordered by Pharaoh Khafre to make this tablet, it will be soon used in a temple to honor the great god of the sun, Ra. Pharaoh Khafre worships Ra more than any other Pharaoh we have had in the past. He is trying to ensure that there is harmony between people and nature. He plans to build a great monument for us to worship the god Rain. A great pyramid is in the works of being built as well, this pyramid will be similar to his father Pharaoh Khufus and will be his final resting place. I am a scribe, meaning I know how to read and write in our language. My job is to inscribe temples, tablets or any other thing I am asked to. These letters I am writing are called hieroglyphics and we only use them when we talk to or about the gods, they are a religious alphabet we use to honor them. Our everyday writing is called hieratics and it is mainly used for business, administration and keeping records on papyrus, our form of paper, it is reed flattened out. I do enjoy my job; I am not dragging limestone for distances or slaving away building pyramids or temples for our pharaoh. You could say that I am of a higher social division. I am not a criminal nor am I severely poor, these people are our slaves. They break their backs doing hard manual labor for our Pharaoh. There is also a group of citizens that voluntarily do hard labor, these are not extremely poor but are not rich either.

Analysis of Francis Bacon s The Four Idols Essay Analysis of Francis Bacon s The Four Idols In The Four Idols, Francis Bacon discusses the concept of what fundamentally stands in the way of a human using the correct way of arriving upon a conclusion. Bacon believes there are four falsehoods that delay people from uncovering what they need to: the idols of the tribe, cave, marketplace and theater. At first I thought that these idols did not apply to humans at all, but now, after careful consideration, I understand how each idol relates to humankind. The Idols of the Tribe represent the illusions of human nature: it refers to the idea that our everyday problems arise simply because we are humans. For example, it is human nature to think that there is more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ultimately, Bacon declares that whatever intrigues one s mind should be held in suspicion pending investigation in order to get a clearer understanding. The Idols of the Marketplace are illusions formed when people communicate with one another. These illusions are caused by the misuse of words, which results in misinterpretation. There are two classes in which the illusions may fall. The first class consists of words that are invented with no meanings and do not exist. The second class is made up of words that have double meanings. Let us take the word liberal; there are countless ways an individual may interpret this word. One person may associate it with becoming a progressive individual, while someone else may connect it with being honorable through education. No matter the word, there are always multiple ways to view and apply the meaning of a word to a situation. The Idols of the Theater are illusions shaped when people believe what the authorities tell them and do not bother to question the impressions put upon them. Bacon believes that these received systems are created

Between the crosshairs of loveand lust, lies an entity that is commonly seen in many folly love struck youth. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The eerie affinity between the two counterparts is best exemplified by the various types of figurative language used by Steven Schutzman. Schutzman states the teller, a young woman of about twenty five, felt the lights of her streets go on for the first time (Schutzman 1), evidently describing the emotional impact the robber had on the teller. Figuratively, this statement is an implicit comparison between the lights that had lined her streets and the teller s discovery of love. This statement also foreshadows the creation of a turbulent relationship between the two counterparts, since it depicts a love at first sight moment that conclusively suggests that the folly lovers will base their romance on short term desires rather than true love. In the eleventh paragraph, the robber is seen stating Ah money...you are just like love (Schutzman 1) , evidently proving his lustful adoration towards materialistic facets. Schutzman implies, through this statement, that this is an example of a metaphor, since it is an explicit comparison between money and love. The author uses this metaphor, in order to epitomize the evident unstable romance that is created between the bank robber and the teller. This statement indirectly implies the fact that the relationship between the two counterparts is formed due to their lustful momentary desires. In order

Because of the fact that appears from most aspect of actors, it is crucial to analyse the state of the field based on a deductive method as defined by D.R. In general, Igor Ansoff s theory that Strategic Action Fields acts in response to environmental change is adopted to determine the state of the field. However, it is not able to be accepted to define the entire music industryby these terms due to a variety of effects that ancillary industries such as information technology are including different parts of actors within the industry. Therefore, exploring the terms about whether established, emerging, and declining is a necessary thing to describe the state of strategic field. In the 1996 adaptation, Romeo + Juliet, director Baz Luhrmann uses film techniques such as shadows, contrast between actors and background, the interruption of non diegetic sounds with brief diegetic sounds, close upshots, shots from varying angles, and cuts to different faces in order to show the similarity of Romeo and Juliet and the difficulties that lie ahead for their relationship. The music becomes decidedly grim here, slowing down and turning into a fully minor key. In the next cuts between the two lovers, the angles are very telling. Juliet is shot from below, giving her the appearance of being above both the party goers and Romeo. Romeo, on the other hand, is shot from above, putting him in a sort of victim position where he appears to be lesser or subordinate to her. In a sense, this is true, as Romeo s infatuation with the young Capulet pushes him to great lengths in his attempt to be with her. As Lord and Lady Capulet leave, Juliet stays back to look down upon him, giving them one last brief glimpse of each other before he fully realizes who she is, and she him (with the help of her maid). When the camera goes back to Romeo, it slowly zooms out farther away from him, emphasizing the physical and political distances that divide the lovers. Conversely, the camera zooms in to Juliet s face in order to show her expressions as she experiences shock and turmoil at the discovery that Romeo is a Montague. The author scaled the pain in a numeric values represented by a scale from zero to ten. First, is the zero scale. As Biss described herself as some one who generate question instead of answering them, she thinks that paincannot be eliminated. Meaning, zero cannot explain a situation, just like its numerical value, we cannot apply some computational operations to it. Then, the author goes to explain how zero is interpreted in Celsius and Kelvin. To illustrate her point, she used the chicken as an example. The concept of the chicken example is that when we grab the chicken by its feet and the chicken is not complaining, that does not mean that the chicken is in no pain. The moral of zero pain is that either the pain cannot be expressed or it can not be felt. Second, the author started with the stories of how she was taught what is pain and who invented the scale of zero to ten pain scale. For example, Biss s father told her that an itch is just a damaged tissue. Biss then asks a very complex question, she said When does pain worth measuring? With poison ivy? With a hang nail?... A razor cut? This shows how complex it is to judge where the pain begins. Even with a trained hospice nurses, not every pain can be identified. Biss conclude the scale one by assuming that zero and one are close to each other to the point where they might equal each other. Third, the scale numbertwo starts

Also it will argue the ethics of accounting and finance in business due to current accounting scandals. Businesses need accounting information in order to make knowledgeable decisions. Creditors and other lenders want to make sure that they will be paid back for the credit that they have given to a business as suggested by Wood and Sangster(2012, p.9). These decisions done by financial professionals have to administer and determine credit policy, make capital budgeting decisions and advise on debts and preferred stock to enhance profitability as portrayed by Harold Bierman (2010, p. 3). Therefore, financial reports are important for making financial decisions for business. In addition accounting and finance are important during this time of uncertainty such as slow growth in the economy, debt and crisis. Thus financial information will seek to stabilise current growth and future state of the business. As suggested by the President of European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, on the current euro zone debt crisis that, banks should set aside more assets to help safeguard against future losses. Thus accounting and finance have to play a significant role in the rising of new capital to improve confidence that they could cope

In 1666, Sir Isaac Newton set up an experiment that required a hole in a window shade, a glass prism, daylight, and a darkened room. As the ray of daylight entered the room, its beam passed through the prism. The light therefore then displayed onto a further off white wall as a dispersing beam made up of various colors. This sight led to Newton s conclusion that white light comprises of numerous types of light, each being from a single pure color bent in differing angle degrees. Now using a converging lens to block out some colors and refuse others, Newton continued his experiment. This represents an increase of 38.14% and this option would offer the greatest upside and superior return when looking only at the benefits of investment for Wrigley s shareholders. 3.2 IMPACT ON WEIGHTED AVERAGE COST OF CAPITAL (WACC) WACC is the rate used to discount future cash flows of a firm to their present value. By minimising WACC firms are able to increase the value of the firm. For debt to affect value, there have to be tangible benefits and costs associated with using debt instead of equity. If the benefits exceed the costs, there will be a gain in value to equity investors from the use of debt. If the benefits are less than the costs, increasing debt will lower value (Myers, 2001). Following a $3 billion leveraged recapitalisation, the investment grade of Wrigley decreases from AAA to BB/B and consequently the cost of debt increases to 13% (see appendix 9) which is greater than the post capitalisation cost of equity of 9.84% (see appendix 8). It is for this reason that the WACC increases from 9.24% to 9.49% (see appendices 5 10) which results in a reduction in firm value. 3.3 IMPACT ON EARNINGS PER SHARE Profit is often expressed as Earnings per Share (EPS) and is calculated as operating income divided by total amount of common shares (Ross, Westerfield, Jordan, Thompson, amp; Christensen, 2007, p. 51). EPS has two

It is our opinion that Samsung should begin an incremental decline in the production of low end DRAM memory chips, and initiate an extensive strategic movement towards capturing the higher end of the DRAM market, as well as new niche... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elpida Memory is the only DRAM producer left in Japan. Their strategic focus is on memory chips for smaller devices, such as cell phones, gaming systems, and other consumer electronics. In 2004, they added another production facility in an attempt to increase output, and increase market share. Elpida manufactures advanced memory technologies, like double data rate (DDR) DRAMs and Rambus based DRAMs, in addition to standard memory modules. They have investment ties to Nintendo, Hitachi, and Intel. Hynix Semiconductor is the second largest memory chip manufacturer in Korea behind Samsung. Hynix has suffered over the last 6 years as a result of poor economic decisions, and legal troubles in the United States. Hynix still manufactures DRAM and other standard memory chips, but sold most of their other businesses to avoid bankruptcy as a result of their former debt. Despite financial troubles, Hynix has recently decided to collaborate with a Chinese company to build a new production plant in China. Hynix accounts for almost two thirds of the memory chip sales in Asia. Infineon Technologies is a German based company, and has manufactured semiconductors since the start of the technological revolution. • 51. Buffalo Soldiers Sparknotes Gather around boys and girls to hear a story about the men forgotten by the world, said the story teller. All the boys and girls gathered around the old wrinkly and tall black man. What s the story about Mr. Washington, said Jimmy. Well let s get to it and find out then, we begin in way back 1865 and it was the year slaves had been freed . The white men had pushed the Indians off their land around 1848 and put them on reservations, but they needed a strong group of men to fight them. In what was born in 1866, the 1st official United States African Americanfighters were born. When the Indians would fight them they knew that they were from the united states because of their uniforms, but they didn t fight how the United States white men... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will get to that, said, Mr. Washington. You see the native Americans were not making fun of the new fighters, they were simply giving them a name that explained to the other native Americans who they were. The buffalo was tough, brave, and meant to be respected. So, therefore the black men were just like them and that s why they called them that. These strong brave men were not only fighters but they also had other jobs too. They had way more responsibility then the white fighters. The Buffalo Soldiers had to herd cattle, escort settlers, and railroad crews. They also, had to set up camp for the white armies and make roads to travel on, but one of the greatest they did was they fought in the civil war. They did a lot more than what we give credit to them. The buffalo soldiers have been forgotten throughout history and some don t even know who they are. These men are one of the greatest in African American history because they helped pave the way for all equality and freedom for you and me. Now kids you see how important the buffalo soiders are, said Mr. Washington. Yes, said, all the children. I didn t know who the Buffalo soldiers are at first and now I do, and I will always be thankful to what they did and helped accomplish for our country . Said Lucy. Yep, that s right . Said Mr.
  • 52. The Importance Of Growth In Human Growth Human growth relies on both genetics and environment to reach an optimal fitness that is advantageous for productive reproduction. Growth refers to increase in physical size that is measurable. Stature is one kind of growth that is complex to understand as both human variation as well as secular trends can affect stature. Secular trends are shifts within a measurable time period that can affect humans. For example, past the industrial revolution, humans began to increase in size and also experienced earlier maturation. Specifically, in the article by Pes et al., A secular trend in body height, namely its progressive increase over more than a century has also be documented in the Sardinian population, (Pes et al., 5). The measureable amount of time is not the only note for change, as several factors can influence growth that include: genetics, economic status, culture, ecology, nutrition, disease, as well as stress. A few of these factors are discussed in Pes s article. The subject of nutrition was a factor of body height increase, since the increase in height was, ...caused by the increase in limb length rather than trunk length, which strengthens further the suggested influence of environmental and/or nutritional factors, (Pes et al., 5). The article further explains that short legs are an indication of poor prepubertal nutrition (Pes et al., 5). Another secular trend that was noted in the article was the effect of disease on Sardinian stature. The stature of Sardinians
  • 53. Causes Of Climate Change What are the main contributing factors in climate change, and what should we do about it? Climate change is undeniably one of the biggest problems which the world at large is currently having to deal with. There are many factors that are causing climate change but more importantly, there are numerous ways to combat it. One of countless examples is environmental damage. Through this issue, mega cities like Delhi which is the capital city of economically developing India suffer constantly with problems like smog. Due to New Delhi being blanketed in thick smog, their very own chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has labelled the mega city as a gas chamber . This major problem leads to severe consequences which were suffered at the hands of the Delhi citizens who were choking, rendering them unable to breathe properly. It is clear that the smog that floats above cities is the most obvious form of air pollution and in turn, environmental pollution. In megacities like Mexico City, cars are indeed the main source of pollutants and an effective way to combat this problem is introducing electric cars which do not run on petrol or diesel. Electric cars reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions where common fuel would emit a large quantity of carbon dioxide and additional gases. If these gases were to pollute the air, it could contribute to the greenhouse effect and thus, lead to global warming. One pollutant related to climate change and is in actual fact an element of smog, is
  • 54. Reflecting on Literature and Community in The Lesson” by... When people tell stories they tend to be about what they know. One thing that most people know is the environment around them. They pick up habits from their family, friends, and neighbors. They begin to talk like them using dialect and slang inherent to their region. Also, it is not uncommon for people to write about a fictional community that is based from their own community. As community affects how we write, writingcan also affect the community. In other words, communities influence authors of literature and literature can also influence communities. Language is how we express ourselves. There are many different languages in our world. Within those languages there are different dialects. Those dialects are affected by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I read this story I felt like my inner voice was developing a Southern Drawl. Faulkner s writing is extremely eloquent and deliberate. The time period also comes out through the language in his writing referring to African Americans as Negros and to Northerners as Yankees. It soon becomes quite obvious that Faulkner must have been raised in the same time and place this story takes place. Communities do not only affect the language of the author but they also can provide the community of the author s work. Some communities act like an extended family and an author may want to show that aspect. Sometimes an author may wish to write about a close knit community that knows everyone else s business. Often a writer will write about their community, illustrating certain cultural aspects that they hold dear. All of these can be examples of the writer s community coming to life in their own stories. In A Rose for Emily, (DiYanni, 2007, pp. 79 84) Faulkner shows us a community that is very involved with each other. They are constantly talking about what Miss Emily does, what she says, and who she sees. The author speaks for the community using the pronoun we throughout the story. He describes how the community reacts to Homer Barron trying to court her, At first we were glad that Miss Emily would have an interest... (p. 82). Everyone becomes very interested in Miss Emily s love life. When she buys poison they become worried that she was
  • 55. Martin Luther And John Calvin Martin Luther and John Calvin were both leaders in the Protestant Reformation. Martin Luther was a monk, or priest, in the Augustinian friars order and his ideals were that Catholicism were corrupting the New Testament beliefs and people were saved by faith alone not by buying their way into heaven. John Calvinstudied law but in 1533 he experienced a religious crisis, as a result of which he converted from Catholicism to Protestantism. Calvin believed that God had specifically selected him to reform the church (McKay et al., 2015, pg. 448). The cornerstone of Calvin s theology was his belief in the absolute sovereignty and omnipotence of God and the total weakness of humanity (McKay et al., 2015, pg. 448). With the help of the printing press, Martin Luther was able to get his ideas out more quickly. Much of central Europe and Scandinavia had broken with the Catholic church I a movement that came to be known as the protestant reformation(McKay et al., 2015, pg. 439). Critics of the church had focused their attacks on immortality, ignorance, and absenteeism of the clergy in the early 16th century. Luther had studied St. Paul s letters in the New Testament when he realized that salvation and justification came through faith, and that faith is a giddy from God, not the result of Hickman effort (McKay et al., 2015, pg. 440). Luther was troubled that people didn t have to repent after they would buy these indulgences. Christianity rid itself of certain corrupt
