College Argumentative Essay Examples
Crafting an essay on the subject of "College Argumentative Essay Examples" can be both
challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between providing concrete
examples, presenting persuasive arguments, and maintaining a coherent structure.
Firstly, sourcing relevant examples that effectively illustrate the key points is a time-consuming
task. The need for recent and credible examples adds another layer of complexity. Assembling a
collection of compelling arguments demands thorough research and critical thinking. It's essential
to ensure that each argument is logically sound and supported by reliable evidence.
The challenge extends to the essay's structure and organization. Balancing the introduction,
body, and conclusion while maintaining a cohesive flow of ideas is crucial. The essay must
engage the reader from the outset, present a strong thesis statement, and gradually build a
persuasive case. Transitions between paragraphs and ideas should be seamless to enhance the
overall readability.
Additionally, incorporating counterarguments and effectively refuting them adds depth and
credibility to the essay. This requires a nuanced understanding of opposing viewpoints and the
ability to present a convincing counter-narrative.
Moreover, the essay should be written with clarity and conciseness, avoiding unnecessary jargon
and ensuring that the language is accessible to a diverse audience. Striking the right tone is
crucial – it should be authoritative yet approachable.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "College Argumentative Essay Examples" demands a
combination of research skills, critical thinking, and effective communication. While challenging,
mastering these aspects can lead to a well-crafted and compelling piece of academic writing.

Themes Of All Quiet On The Western Front
All Quiet On The Western Front written by Erich Maria Remarque is a wonderful
tale that expresses the theme of comradeship, dehumanizing effects of war, and the
futility of war. All 296 pages are full of twists and turns, lessons to learn, and all the
brutality of war. This anti war book opens your eyes to situations you ve never
thought about. It shines a new light on battle that has never been documented before.
All Quiet on the Western Frontis a coming of age book that teaches you many
valuable things.
Remarque s All Quiet On The Western Front had many great lessons, one of the
greatest ones was the theme of comradeship. During his time on the front, Paul and
his buddies formed a bond with each other that could not be broken. This is clear
when Paul states that they are the strongest, most comforting thing there is
anywhere: they are the voices of my comrades. (Remarque 212) In this line, Paul
expresses his compassion and respect, he has for his comrades. Paul s thought
process encourages the idea that his friends help him get through each day, That
during his hardest times, his friends voices help him push through it. When Paul was
going through an internal battle, his comrades talked to him and helped him work it
out. For example, when Paul finally lets his frustrations out to his friends he listens to
them and feels comforted, reassured by their presence. (Remarque, 228) The theme
of comradeship is being able to forge connections with other soldiers.

Unrequited Love
Romeo and Juliet Essay
Unrequited Love
Love was always a monopoly. You never know whether someone really loves you or
not. All you know is you love them. That is what always makes unrequited love
difficult. In Romeo and Juliet, unrequited love is present whether apparent or
implied. Romeo falls in love with Rosaline and Paris falls in love with Juliet which
remain the most obvious examples. However, I do believe their is an unrequited
love between Juliet and her parents. When we first meet Romeo, he is infatuated by
Rosaline (which he calls love), who happens not to be in love with him and plans to
become a nun.
Why, such love s transgression. Griefs of mine own lie heavy in my breast,
Which thou with propagate to have it pressed ... Show more content on

How, how, how, how ? Chopped logic? What is this? Proud, and I thank you, and I
thank you not, And yet not proud ? Mistress minion you, Thank my no thankings, nor
proud me no prouds, But fettle your fine joints gainst Thursday next ........... ...........
Out, you green sickness carrion! Out, you baggage! ........... (III, v, 154 162)
This quote proved how cruel Lord Capulet was to Juliet. He disrespected her and
disregarded her wants. He criticized her and later slapped her. He forced her into
doing something she did not want to do, showing how selfish he was.
Hang thee, young baggage, disobedient wretch! I tell thee what: get thee to church
o Thursday, Or never after look me in the face. Speak not; reply not; do not answer
me. My fingers itch, Wife we scarce thought us blessed (III, v, 166 171)
They question their blessing, Juliet, which shows they do not really care for her,
because no parent would question whether their child was a blessing. Well, a good
parent would not. In conclusion, Juliet and her parents, Paris and Juliet, and Romeo
and Rosaline all experienced unrequited love in the play Romeo and Juliet. Whether
obvious or not, they are there and continue throughout the book. Unrequited love put
the play into twists and turns, making it a lot harder for the characters to cope with
their problems. The events unfolding in this play continuously prove, love is a
monopoly, you never know

Essay on Tupac vs Biggie
Chris Jacobson Miss Lindquist English 101 15 November 2010 Fearless Rhymes
To gaze into the lyrics of both Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur is like living in
the ghettos of New York City where violence never stops. Both of these artists grew
up seeing and living a life filled with violence. Gunshots and drive byes, death and
murder were a daily occurrence. Although the lyrics of both artists are simply telling
their life stories and how hard it was to grow up in their hoods they contain vulgar,
hateful, and sexual verses that send the wrong message to their listeners. Whether
these listeners are teens or adults, white or black, they are continually sending notions
of hatred and fear through their lyrics and actions. Ultimately,... Show more content

It may be hard for a kid to understand why his parents didn t want him or her
listening to Pac or Biggie s lyrics, but as their actions on TV and in music videos
displayed the same notions, their fear only increased. For both artists, they had
videos displaying women with nearly nothing on, smoking, drinking and carrying
weapons, but kids people liked it. That s why both of these artists are known as the
best of all time. What they didn t see though was the rising amount of disrespect
towards women, increase in drug sales and an enormous increase in gun violence
during this time. This is proven by Lindsay John, The endemic of violence in the
black community can be directly traced back to the whole irresponsible images of
black masculinity which is fed to us through music. (174) Along with the videos,
they had concerts that displayed rash and harsh comments towards not only whites
but also law enforcement. Like in this lyric by Tupac: Without a cop harrassing me,
searching me Then asking my identity Hands up, throw me up against tha wall
Didn t do a thing at all I m tellen you one day these suckers gotta fall Cuffed up

their listeners about guns and killing, but they are also putting a false sense of fear
into them about the police department. If the thought
Woodrow Wilson and The Presidency Essays
Woodrow Wilson and The Presidency
From the beginning of the 1912 election, the people could sense the new ideas of
Woodrow Wilson would move them in the right direction. Wilson s idea of New
Freedom would almost guarantee his presidential victory in 1912. In contrast to
Wilson s New Freedom, Roosevelt s New Nationalism called for the continued
consolidation of trusts and labor unions, paralleled by the growth of powerful
regulatory agencies. Roosevelt s ideas were founded in the Herbert
Croly s novel, The Promise Of American Life written in 1910. Although both
Wilson and Roosevelt favored a more active government role in economic and social
affairs, Wilson s favored small enterprise, entrepreneurship, and the free functioning

The new Federal Reserve
Board, appointed by the president, oversaw a nationwide system of twelve regional
re served districts, each with its own central bank. The final authority over these
banks was granted to the Federal Reserve Board, which guaranteed a substantial
measure of public control. The board was also empowered to issue paper money
called quot;Federal Reserve Notes. quot; The amount of money in circulation could
be swiftly increased as needed for the legitimate requirements of business.
In 1914, Woodrow Wilsontried to tame the trusts. Again making a personal ap
pearance to address Congress with his propositions helped dramatize the situation and
sway the support towards his ideas. Congress responded with the Federal Trade
Commis sion Act of 1914. The new law empowered a presidentially appointed
commission to toughen regulations on interstate commerce. This was supposed to
crush monopolies by wiping out unfair trade policies. Next came the Clayton Anti
Trust Act of 1914, which was meant to further strangle the major monopolies. It
lengthened the list of business practices deemed objectionable in the Sherman Act.
Now, price discrimination and inter locking directorates were gravely forbidden.
Wilson had caught the attention of the public by conquering the quot;triple wall of
privilege. quot; With the full support of the public,
Setting up a Company by Shares
The setting up of a company by shares Joint stock company
A joint stock company is a company whose stock is owned jointly by a large
number of shareholders who are unacquainted with each other. A joint stock
company is a form of partnership where each member is financially responsible for
the acts of the company. Each shareholder owns a part of the company in proportion
to his ownership of the company s shares. This allows the unequal ownership of a
business where some shareholders own a larger proportion of the company than
others.
The setting up of a Joint Stock Company involves some requirements. There is a
minimum number of two shareholders, there has to be a Supervisory Board formed
of at least three censors , at least one must be a certified accountant , appointed for a
period of three years. Also, if there is more than one director a Board of Directors
must be constituted.
The shareholders holders of the Romanian joint stock company can be either natural
or legal persons. The minimum number of shareholders is two. For the Joint Stock
Company the minimum share capital cannot be below 90,000 RON the equivalent
of at least 25,000 Euro and is divided into shares having a minimum value of 0.1
RON. The amount of the minimum share capital may be modified by the
Government so as to represent the equivalent of 25,000 Euro.
The founders must subscribe to the entire social capital of the company and must
pay at least 30% of its value, the rest of to 70% having to be paid
Demand And Supply Framework Influence Price
The quantity demanded of a good or service is defined as the amount that
consumers want to buy over a certain time period, and at a particular price. This
theory is based on the law of demand which states assuming all other things stay the
same, when the price of a good rises this causes the quantity demanded of the good
to decrease; and when the price of a good falls, the quantity demanded of the good
will increase. The quantity supplied of a good or service is the amount that
producers look to sell over a time period at a certain price. The law of supply states,
assuming everything else remains unchanged the higher the price of a good, the
higher the quantity supplied and the lower the price of a good, the less the quantity
supplied. This diagram here shows how the demand and supply framework influence
price.
Take dairy milk for an example, in 2009 the price for dairy milk was 23.73 pence
per litre, the demand for dairy milk was 982 million litres in that year and the
supply of milk in 2009 was 13,128 million litres. This meant there was an excess
supply, this is when there is too much supply of a product, in this case dairy milk
and not enough demand. This may of caused the price to fall to what it was as the
excess supply didn t allow the market equilibrium to be met therefore a new market
equilibrium would have been created and that caused the price to be lower as the
market price will fall to try and increase demand.
Price elasticity of demand is defined as

The Federalist Papers By John Jay
The Federalist Papers, written in New York by John Jay, Alexander Hamilton and
James Madison, during the years of 1787 and 1788, were a collection of eighty five
essays that were written to augment and garner support and to defend those concepts
set forth in The Constitution of the United States of America (hereafter The
Constitution ), which had not yet been ratified. The Federalist Papersnot only
championed The Constitution, but they also explained how the new government
would operate in the United Statesas further detailed below. It was crucial to the
success of the new country that The Constitution be ratified; and Jay, Hamilton and
Madison were prepared to do anything they could to see to the documents, as well as
the United States, success. In September of 1787, The Constitution was proposed to
The Confederation Congress. The Confederation Congress was a government that
was made up of appointed delegates from the then, thirteen states. Since it was the
supreme governing body, it was the party that was able to make the decision about the
fate of The Constitution. The decision made was to turn the decision over to the
states for ratification. Therefore, Jay, Hamilton and Madison wrote the Federalist
Papers to ensure that there was going to be adequate support to have the states ratify
The Constitution. Additionally, they were written to counter act the negative
comments being made by those persons opposed to The Constitution, which included

controversy that emitted over the Vogue cover was that Ashley s arm is on the

Wheelchair Stereotypes
Myth 1: Wheelchairs Summary: According to the article 6 Stereotypes of Disability
from Disabled We Stand, one of the misconceptions was, if you re in a wheelchair,
that can mean either that you re deaf, dumb and stupid, or that you re a goddess on
wheels. People approach you when they usually wouldn t approach anyone else.
Furthermore, others are drawn to people in wheelchairs because they automatically
feel pity and interest in the difference in lifestyles. Rather than letting a wheelchair
define someone s character, personality, or life, perhaps getting to know the
individual would be a more accurate representation of who they are as a person.

The fact that she was able to create easily accessible clothing for individuals with
disabilities was astounding and I was, frankly, blown away by her
accomplishments. She was able to travel to New York City to participate in fashion
shows and had a little bit of difficulty when operating the ramps, but as she said, she
figured it out. She relied on an interpreter to explain to us what she was saying, but
as the interpreter said, she learned how to understand Delaina by repetition, as
Delaina would make certain shapes with her mouth when she would talk and the
interpreter figured out how to understand her over time. Delaina is the perfect
example of an individual with a disability who does not need help. She comes up
with her own sketches, operates her own wheelchair, and can type into her
computer to let us know what she is thinking. Her brilliance was apparent when
she talked about how dedicated she was to her sketches and how she was honored
to attend the University of Florida. Instead of seeing Delaina as an individual who
needs help opening the door, or crossing the street, I saw her as a peer with much
more amazing capabilities than myself. She put into perspective fact that people who
have disabilities are perfectly capable of managing their own lives and doing it
Importance Of Deserving My Education
I am deserving of this award due to how I have faced the challenges in my life to
continue and improve my education. Throughout my life I ve made sacrifices that
most of my peers would not do willingly. From childhood I knew that achieving the
best grades and challenging myself in academics would allow me to pursue what I
wanted later in life, and I knew it wouldn t be easy. I have sacrificed uncountable
amounts of hours that I could have spent with friends or doing other fun activities,
to study for my classes. As an example, my mom s side of the family has had many
funerals in the recent past. I have chose to miss some of these funerals to stay in
school. I do not do this because I don t love my relatives. I miss the funerals
because I know how important school is, and that my relatives would want me to
succeed in getting a great education and achieving my goals. Making major
sacrifices like this allowed me to keep a 4.0 G.P.A. throughout my educational
career, and deepen my knowledge of world around me. Not only have I been able to
make the sacrifices needed to keep myself ahead of game, but I ve also managed to
master my time management skills.
I have always loved soccer, and I have push myself time and time again to work at
becoming the best I can be. So, when I came into high school and the load of school
work and time dedicated to soccer increased, and I knew had to find a way to
balance both. This is an issue I constantly see my peers struggling with, but not me. I
Diabetes Mellitus And Type 2 Diabetes Essay
Diabetes mellitus, known as diabetes is a grouping of metabolic diseases that
present, over a long period of time, levels of high blood sugar.
There are two main forms of diabetes: Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus and Type 2 Diabetes
Mellitus. In addition to these two, there is also what is called Gestational Diabetes.
In all cases, insulin is somehow not doing its job: Insulin is a hormone produced by
beta cells of the pancreas, and is needed to allow glucose to enter the cells and
produce energy. If this point is not completed, the subject will suffer from high blood
sugar. If not treated and if present for a long time, the subject will suffer from
diabetes mellitus in one of its forms, depending on the cause of this insulin
malfunction. Thus, we will be discussing the causes, symptoms, and treatments of
diabetes in all its forms.
Type 1 diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes or insulin dependent diabetes, occurs
when one s immune system destroys the cells responsible for insulin making (beta
cells) in the pancreas. Thus, the pancreas produces either too little or no insulin at all.
Subjects with type 1 diabetes need insulin every day till the rest of their lives to
replace the insulin that the body is not producing. Blood glucose level tests must be
done several times during the day.
The onset of type 1 diabetes usually hits people under 30 years; although, it can occur
at any age. Almost about 10 15% of all diabetes cases are type 1.
Without insulin the body will be

The Influenza and Pneumonia Epidemic of 1918-1919 Essay
The Influenza and Pneumonia Epidemic of 1918 1919
In the ten months between September 1918 and June 1919, 675,000 Americans died
of influenza and pneumonia. When compared to the number of Americans killed in
combat in World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam combined 423,000 it
becomes apparent that the influenza epidemic of 1918 1919 was far more deadly than
the war which it accompanied. (Crosby, 206 207) The United States and the rest of
the world had been exposed to such epidemics in the past, but never at such a severe
cost in human life.
The influenza epidemic came in two waves. The first wave, in the spring of 1918,
took far fewer victims than the second. Americans stricken with the flu that spring

The first wave began in the spring of 1918; for the most part, America s public health
system ignored it. Generally, public health departments did not receive reports of
influenza. Most doctors cited pneumonia on the death certificates of those killed,
since flu came first and weakened the resistance of the sick, then pneumonia followed
and was the eventual cause of death for most people.
The problem of diagnosis caused much confusion in determining the actual number
of cases of flu. The Denver Post ran an article during that first wave to inform its
readers of how to tell the difference between a cold and the flu. According to the
Post , the onset of a cold is not so sudden, its ache not so severe, its fever not so
high, and it is marked by chilliness rather than definite chills. (Crosby, note on 41)
Bacteriological tests did not provide any further insight, and doctors around the
country argued the merits and drawbacks of various diagnostic methods.
Finally, the spring wave of flu went largely unnoticed for the most part because the
United States did not have a sufficient network of federal, state, and local public
health departments. They could not communicate properly to compile existing data
on influenza and pneumonia in 1918 into some sort of picture of the epidemic. The
only clear picture came from such institutions and organizations as prisons and the
Armed Forces. They held complete jurisdiction over
Cosmos Beyond The Exoplanetary System
Introduction Over the last two decades, the study of exoplanetary systems has
become a very active field that will grow continuously in the coming years as
technology has made it possible to actually observe the Cosmos beyond the Solar
System. The simple definition of an exoplanet, also called extrasolar planet, is any
planetary body that orbits a star outside of our solar system(Encyclopedia Britannica).
In a Scientific manner, an official definition of exoplanets may be at this point
unjustified since the situation is still evolving and that any definitive definition is
likely to be too rigid to adapt to new discoveries (Schnieder et al. 2011). Prior to the
1990 s, it was not possible to detect planets with certainty beyond our Solar System

Symptoms And Treatment Of Pompe s Disease
Background Pompe s disease is a glycogen storage disease caused by mutation in a
gene coding for the acid 1 4 alpha glucosidase (GAA), the key enzyme in
glycogenolysis within lysosomes. GAA deficiency results in accumulation of
glycogen and successive enlargement of lysosomes. As the lysosomes enlarge, there
is also accumulation of other related byproducts, overtaking the space regularly
occupied by myofibrils and impeding their function (Lewandowska E et al., 2008).
Individuals with a complete loss of GAA activity usually do not live past the age of
2, usually dying from heartfailure (Hesselink RP et al., 2003)(Sun B et al., 2015).
Individuals with incomplete loss of GAA activity, or late onset Pompe disease,
typically survive until... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the lysosomes are failing they begin to swell; the proton pumps are unable to
properly maintain the pH gradient to process and phagacytize cell products, causing
the accumulation of lipofuscin in skeletal muscle (Hesselink RP et al., 2003). These
lipofuscin inclusions in individuals with Pompe s disease prevent muscle from

Working at The Bindery Essay
Working at The Bindery
I have a dream. I have a dream about getting a doctorate degree in music. Well, to
get that far, I know I must get through undergraduate school first, let alone graduate
school, and so on. Last year I realized that I needed a job that paid much more than
minimum wage if I was going to afford to go to college. I then heard about The
Bindery from a friend in the same situation as I was. I filled out an application,
went to the orientation a few weeks later, and then discovered that working there
would be no ordinary job. I will now briefly explain how the factory works and then
show you the ropes of working in my department.
There are two major departments at The Bindery: the press and the ... Show more

Tie any long hair back, and tuck in any loose clothing. You can wear gloves if you
wish, but it is not mandatory. Bring water to keep yourself hydrated, because it is
very hot inside. Make out a time card for yourself at the beginning of the week and
punch in early everyday. Since you will be working afternoon shift with me, I can
tell you the schedule of work. Monday through Thursday, work is from 3:30pm
11:30pm, with a 30 minute lunch break at 7:30. Friday is 3:00pm 10:30pm.
Saturday and Sunday (usually optional) is 2:00pm 9:30pm. No lunch break on these
days. Every day, there is a 5 10 minute break every two hours.
Now, I will share the steps to perform the duties of a gatherer in the bindery
department. Place your belongings at the end of the line on which you will be
working, and out of people and fork truck traffic. Grab a bundle of forms from the
skid by the string or by the ends, lifting with your legs, and cautiously throw it up
on the pocket. Bundles can weigh from 25 to 50 pounds, depending on the type of
paper being used for the book. Throw as many bundles as it takes to fill the pocket,
making sure that the print on the spine of the paper is lined up correctly. This
insures that the page numbers will go in the correct order. A pocket usually holds
about six or seven bundles to make it full. The number of pages in the book being
made determines the number of pockets
Essay Pope Pius XII s Neutrality
Is it possible for a Pope to be infallible? When one looks at events, such as the
Holocaust, the answer of this question becomes twofold. Were Pope Pius XII s
actions an attempt to save the Catholic Church from persecutions or a lack of
understanding of Hitler s ethnic cleansing? Nearly six million Jews were slaughtered
during the Holocaust. When the world became aware of the mass murders that were
taking place in Europe, World War II became a moral obligation rather than a fight
for power. The Allied powers invaded Germany to save Jews and force the Nazis out
of power in Germany. Many Nazi resistance groups, including Catholic groups, aided
in the hiding of Jews in Europe. Surprisingly, the Vatican did not assist these

Just short of the Nazi Party was the Social Democratic Party with one hundred and
twenty seats in Parliament, followed by the BVP with ninety three seats. If the
BVP could be diminished, the Nazi Party would be able to grow and eventually
gain complete control of Germany. By 1937, the German government violated the
Reich Concordat of 1933. Pius XI, with help from Cardinal Michael Faulhaber and
editing by Pacelli, wrote Mit Brennender Sorge, an encyclical read to all German
churches on Palm Sunday of 1937 in response to the German violations *word
choice (Sanchez 17). This encyclical objected to the German government violations
of the Reich Concordat and criticized the Nazi doctrines of racism and statism (Mit
Brennender). There were no further actions made regarding Germany s violation to
the agreement. Two years later and just before the outbreak of World War II, in
February 1939, Pope Pius XI died. Cardinal Pacelli was then elected Pope and
became Pope Pius XII. Due to his previous anti Nazi ideals, the future Allied powers
were confident that Pius XII would fully support their part in WWII; however, Pope
Pius XII would remain neutral throughout the war (Sanchez 17). At the beginning of
his papacy, Pius XII told Vatican officials that to me the German question is the most
important; I will reserve handling it to myself. He added, Naturally I will follow
German matters closer than all others (Phayer 44). Pius
Urban Progression In Australia
In 1800 only 3% of people lived in a city of 1 million or more; by the year 2000, it
was 47%. In 1950 there were only 83 cities worldwide with populations over 1
million; by 2007 there were 468. In April 2008, the world passed the 50%
urbanization mark. Cities have evolved into a more complex space inter linked by a
number of systems and planners generally have failed to read the Urban Progression
and thus cities have failed significantly in terms of the Quality of Life of the urbanites.
This chapter reviews the importance of urban progression and their significance in
present urban context of Queensland. The first section 2.1 tells us about the origin
and definition of urban progression, in section 2.2 we discuss about the present and
future urban densities of Queensland which play an important role is defining the
urban sprawl and the changes in the housing forms i.e. section 2.3. Through these
studies we can correlate between density, housing and its types.
2.1 Defining Urban Progression

The Oxford Dictionary defines it as the closeness of substance, crowded state, and
in physics, the ratio of mass to volume or by quantity of matter in unit of bulk . In
the spatial sciences, density is a measure of the concentration, grain, tightness of
pattern, cluster or intensity of beings or substance within a defined space or territory.
Urban density is a term used to describe the dimensions of relationships between
attributes of urban substance and being; for example, dwellings or person per
hectare. However there is no beset definition of urban area to measure urban density,
so it is generally defined as a community of people of a certain size existing in close
juxtaposition to each
Republican Wisconsin Senator, Joseph R. Mccarthy Essay
Republican Wisconsin senator, Joseph R. McCarthy, was originally a quiet senator
who was fairly unknown and had done nothing extraordinary previous to 1950. The
senator changed all that when he delivered a speech in February 1950, in which he
leveled allegations that the State Department employed numerous Communists. He
claimed to possess a list of these Communist employees, although that list was
never produced (Tindall, George Brown, and David Emory Shi). Senator
McCarthy s attempt to gain publicity with his outlandish accusations worked. Since
the first Red Scare years before the fifties, many Americans continued to be
terrified of Communists and their potential ability to corrupt and overrun America.
Senator McCarthy played on these fears, and he continued to claim communism
had infiltrated every aspect of America; politics, culture and all of American
society. Because of the similarity of events from the first Red Scare, this time
period of the early fifties in America is often called the second Red Scare. The
second Red Scare in America s history actually began in the late forties, previous to
McCarthy s emergence in 1950, and it continued on throughout the fifties lasting at
least a dozen years (Storrs, Landon R. Y.) McCarthy s short era during the second
Red Scare actually lasted only four years, but because of his outspoken and arrogant
persona, as well as his ability to inflict fear and persecution on innocent people, this
entire span of time went down in the
Taking a Look at Ai Weiwei
Ai Weiwei, a Chinese contemporary artist as well as a political activist was born
in Beijing on May 18, 1957. When Ai was only one year old him and his family
were sent to a labor camp. It was not for sixteen years later at the end of the Cultural
Revolution until his family moved back to Beijing. He studied animation at the
BeijingFilm Academy in 1978. After his studies he spent about twelve years in the
United States and studied at the Parsons School of Design where he soon dropped
out. For income he became a street artist, doing drawings on the side. When his
father had become sick in 1993, Ai returned to Beijing from New York City. He then
became the artist director and co founder of the China Art Achieves and Warehouse.
This is about the time when some controversial pieces are now starting to come
about. In 1993, Ai Weiweithen had moved to the North side of China in a town
called Coachanghdi, this is where he started to do architectural work, including his
studio house. This is when he founded the FAKE design, which is an architectural
studio. Ai s biggest controversial issue is when he was arrested on false tax evasions
and detained for three months. After his arrest Ai Weiwei is no longer permitted to
leave China and is under tight security by the Chinese government. He is not allowed
to leave the country because he is under other criminal investigations, which include
pornography, illegal exchange of foreign currency, and bigamy. Everyone in support

Political Structure Of The Government
Political Structure According to the Library of Congress, [t]he Algerian government
is a multi party republic with a constitution and a strong presidency. There are three
branches of government including a legislative, executive, and judicial branch. The
president has a considerable amount of power. He can appoint or dismiss the prime

president is Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who has been in office since 1999. Ideally, there is

The Drug Of Drugs And Drugs Essay
Introduction heroine is a highly addictive, and also illegal drug. It is made from the
resin of poppy plants. The opium is used to make morphine, then further into
different forms of heroine. It was from opium that morphine, a derivative, was
developed as a pain killer in approximately 1810. It eliminated severe pains, many of
times used for medical operations. It made who ever used it be completely
numb.Heroinwas first made by Alder Wright in 1874 from morphine. Heroine is made
from a black sticky substance known as tar. Methamphetamine is a central nervous
systemstimulant drug and most of the meth abused in this country comes from
other countries or domestic superlabs, although it can also be made in small areas
like a garage, or illegal laboratories, where its production dangers the people within
the labs, neighbors, and the environment. Opioids are a class of drugs that have
heroine in it and act as pain relievers and can be obtained legally such as
OxyContin, Hydrocodone, Vicodin, Codeine, morphine, and fentanyl. Opioid
pain relievers are usually are usually safe when taken for a short time and not a
long period of time and also when prescribed by a doctor most drugs should not be

Reconstruction Of African American During Reconstruction
History helps shape the future and what we can learn from it to make sure that we do
not repeat the same mistakes. During Reconstruction, the country was trying to make
amends after the war was over. The country needed to find a way to mend a broken
nation because it was divided. The main issue during reconstruction was the status of
African Americans because they wanted their civil rights, but could not get that. The
question that needs to be answered is: who did the most to aid the cause of African
American during Reconstruction, and why? Many organizations and people helped
African Americans, but the Freedman s Bureau did the most. They helped provide
education for the freed African Americans. According to the Virginia Historical
Society, they say, they used their authority over former confederate properties to
provide buildings for schools. The Freedman s Bureau wanted to make sure that
African Americans had a proper education because they were deprived of education
while they were growing up. The Virginia Historical Society says, the Freedman s
Bureau, missionary associations, and African Americans themselves funded the
schools; many of the mostly white, female teachers came from the south with the
missionary associations. The Bureau wanted this to be successful and with the help
of the missionary associations and the African Americas to fund the schools, it would
make it a reality. The Freedman s Bureau did everything that they could to make sure

Renaissance Art Analysis
The Renaissance period is known for displaying a new interest in naturalism. It was
also the beginning of humanism, where portraits became highly popular, starting
around 1400. Increases in artistic patronage, particularly among the middle class,
happened between the 15th and 18th centuries, and Leonardo Da Vinci, a popular
artist of the Renaissanceperiod, painted many paintings commissioned by people
outside of the Church.
One such example is the famous painting, the Mona Lisa, which Da Vinci supposedly
painted in Florence for a Florentine merchant (the female in the painting is rumored
to be his wife), according to Harris and Zucker (2016). I wanted to include a
photograph of it, but unfortunately, the Louvre does not allow the use of ... Show

This new diversity in patrons over the 15th to 18th centuries meant a giant move
away from religious themed art, which had always been commissioned by the
Church, and was only really visible to people in Churches. Art became more
versatile and less focused on religion more mythical in some areas, while focusing on
real life scenarios and wealthy people in others.
What I like about the significant shift over those centuries is that art became more
of what it is today; it resonated with a wider audience, and people started to have
more of a say in what they would like commissioned. Basically, anything goes in the
art world, and I believe this push to a wider audience and varied patronage helped to
create the worldwide love of art we see today; it is a somewhat of a joyful necessity
in life, and comes in all forms and is of all subjects.
Furthermore, the private patronage helped to push up the pricing of art, particularly
of famous artists, which has seen pricing sky rocket throughout history, from around
the late 1400s until the present
Lender Liability and the Duty of Good Faith
Lender Liability and the Duty of Good Faith I.Introduction From time to time,
lenders and their attorneys announce that lender liability is no longer an issue with
which the lending community needs to be concerned. What usually prompts this
proclamation of the death of lender liability is a recent case in which a court has
summarily rejected a borrower s claim that the lender violated the duty of good
faith and fair dealing. Many courts have rejected borrowers lawsuits which are
based on allegations of the violation of the lender s duty of good faith. Nevertheless,
lender liability should continue to be an area of concern to lenders. Although courts
often dismiss cases based on a borrower s claims of lender bad faith, in other... Show

Then a discussion of the objective and subjective test of good faith will take place
before finally concluding that the good faith obligation should not be imposed in
debtor creditor situations to override express terms of a contract. II.The U.C.C.
A.The Good Faith Performance Obligation and the U.C.C. The central provision of
the U.C.C. s good faith requirement is found in В§ 1 203, which provides that every
contract or duty within this Act imposes an obligation of good faith in its
performance or enforcement. With regard to debtor creditor relationships in
particular, this obligation of good faith performance imposes on a lender a duty to
deal in good faith with its borrower in all situations, not only in situations where,
because of the circumstances of the loan, the lender has assumed actual control over
and a fiduciary responsibility for the borrower. One troublesome but important aspect
of the good faith performance obligation is its application to contracts, which
provide that one party to the contract may, in its sole discretion, take certain actions
pursuant to the contract. In such cases, the actions of the party who can exercise its
discretion may affect all parties to the contract, and dependent parties must rely on
the good faith of the party given the right to exercise its discretion. Often, the
discretion exercised by the party in control will adversely affect the dependent party.
However, it does not necessarily follow that
Perseverance In Ralph Fletcher s Attack
In life bad things happen, and if you give up, the problem stays. If you don t work
hard and leave it, it doesn t get solved. In the short story Attack by Ralph Fletcher, a
family of roosters are attacked, and go missing. In this story the characters show
perseverance by never giving up on the roosters, taking time, and rebuilding the
chicken coop. They showed perseverance when Mom and Jimmy decided to look for
possible solutions that would take work, time, effort, and dedication. The first way
they showed this is when they never gave up on the roosters. Mom and Jimmy both
went into the woods to look for any survivors. With Lainie and the children at home
with worry, they showed perseverance through patiently awaiting their return.
Analysis Of My Daughter By Judith Sutpen
Miss Rosa describes her niece, Judith Sutpen, as a woman more strange to me than
to any grief for being so less its partner (120). Judith is a woman well acquainted
with suffering, losing first her mother, then her fiancГ© at the hand of her brother,
and finally her father. She watches her family s wealth disintegrate as a result of
the heavy toll exacted by the Civil War, and eventually becomes accustomed to
tending her own garden, spinning her own thread, and weaving her own cloth as
the poor would do (125), since the Reconstruction Era showed no discrimination in
turning both wealthy and impoverished Southerners into the poor. Once her
childhood has come to a close and the era of desolation has set in, during which she
is forced to cope with hardship after hardship, Faulkner begins to consistently
portray her as wearing a worn, discolored homemade dress of calico or gingham
(plain woven cotton fabrics). In one sense this represents the poverty that is laying
waste to the South and the Sutpen family, but on a deeper level the dress comes to
symbolize the deprivation and sorrow which Judith has endured, and specifically
her inability or perhaps refusal to emote in response to these tragedies. The first
time the dress appears to the reader is during Miss Rosa s description of her first
encounter with Judith after Charles Bon s death: I ran, fled, up the stairs and found
no grieving widowed bride but Judith standing before the closed door to that chamber,

Multiculturalism Is Closely Associated With Identity Politics
For multiculturalism we understand that is the ideology or social organization model
that affirms the possibility of living harmoniously in society between those groups or
ethnic communities that are cultural, religious or linguistically different.
Welcomes the cultural diversity and its starting point that no group has to lose their
culture and own identity. The dominant culture has a consciousness of superiority
over the dominated culture, showing attitudes of rejection, discrimination, and
derogatory. Terms for what culture dominated in some cases sample submission or
resignation as well as other are developing aggressive defensive behavior. The
dominant culture believed to possess a privileged situation, accompanied by attitudes
of superiority, legitimacy, and self esteem. Waking up in the culturedominated ideas

Explain What Constitutes the Physical and Psychological...
When a child comes into this world as a dependant, adults have a responsibility to
support a child s growth. Adults must provide children with a safe environment where
their physical and psychological needs can be met, enabling them to grow into
healthy secure beings.
This thesis explores the physical and psychological needs of a three year old child,
and how they can be met in a childcare setting in order to promote successful mental
development. In the following writings these needs will be explained. It will be
examined how these needs can benefit a child in their development and how
individuals can be motivated whilst looking at the UK childcare standards of the

If a child asks why they should eat broccoli, one can answer by explaining that
eating broccoli gives you more energy to run and jump. Because playing is an
activity which children tend to enjoy, they will then relate the healthy food choice of
broccoli with pleasure. At all times a child must be supported in developing and
understanding of the importance of physical activity and making healthy choices in
relation to food (EYFS (2007) in Macleod Brudenell, 2008, p70)
What also should to be considered by a practitioner are the different physical needs
of each child. When proposing a balanced diet, allergies, religions, or different diet
choices should be taken into account. Eczema is an example of a condition which
can be triggered by dietary choices. This condition can have an effect on a child s
physical well being and therefore food products which promote eczema will have to
be identified and supplemented for in a child prone to eczema outbreaks. If a child s
eczema is triggered by dairy products, one can consider using alternatives which will
also provide nutrition s to the child. This is just a simple example, but it is clear that
there are many alternative food products which can be used to promote good health in
children. The practitioner must understand and know their options, when creating a
balanced diet for a child in the nursery setting.
Not only is food itself important for a child s physical development, but so is its
Liberalism And Freedom Essay
Liberalism and Freedom
Liberalism is a force that has produced change from the birth of this nation to the
politics of today. Liberal tenets have been a basis of thought and action in American
politics since well before the signing of the
Constitution. Certainly, liberalism has had to transform in order to remain a
legitimate force throughout the years. When considering this transformation, one
may ask whether or not the ideas and goals of classical liberalism have been lost in
the conversion into modern liberalism. In order to answer this, the areas of freedom,
the role of government, human nature, and the function of law should be addressed.
While this may not be a complete register of change in liberalism, research into these

The Declaration of
Independence embodied these thoughts precisely and clearly. When Thomas
Jefferson wrote about the quot;inalienable rights... life, liberty and the pursuit of
happiness quot; he was speaking of the inherent rights of man and went further to
declare that any government that chooses to dispel these rights is subject to
overthrow by the governed. In short Jefferson was saying that the right of the
government to rule is derived from the people s ability to utilize and approve of their
level of independence.
Modern America embraces and reveres the ideals above. This leaves modern
liberalism with the chore of expanding these rights. The focus has now shifted from
the attainment of these rights to the perfection of them. In the above statement I
mean to show that liberal ideas of freedom and liberty have changed considerably.
This can be clarified by the following quote:
quot;A man who was poor, uneducated, ill housed, and subject to the fluctuations
economic cycle could not be considered free though he lived in a nation whose
government abided by the tenets of laissez faire. True liberty, liberals began to
contend, required the ability of man to use his talents and energies in a constructive
fashion it meant the positive freedom to achieve and accomplish. quot; (Volkomer, 4)
This quotation suggests that modern liberals

it was a Confederate victory, the Union Army won the war. This battle took place

soldiers died that day, but the most reliable seems to come from CivilWar.com. They

Hummingbird Research Paper
The hummingbird is one of the most unique animals on our planet. They are equipped
with freaky flying abilities and fantastically fast traits, all which make them the
distinct animals that they are. How everyday can be a struggle for these nectar
consuming flyers just puts me in awe.
Hummingbirds have multiple special characteristics that help them to survive in the
wilderness. Hummingbirds have a heart rate of 1,200 bpm when flying, and take
about 250 breaths per minute. Hummingbirds can beat their wings up to 200 times
per second, which, as you may have guessed, takes up a lot of energy. This helps
them to move forwards, backwards, hover, and even move upside down.
Hummingbirds spend most of their days gathering nectar to use as energy. These
frequent flyers are also quite small and light. The smallest hummingbird, the Bee
Hummingbird, is only 5 cm in length while the largest hummingbird, the Giant
Hummingbird, is 20 cm in length. Most hummingbirds weigh less than a nickel. This
helps them move around quickly and efficiently, and also helps them to gather nectar
from small flowers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and they even use lots of energy while perching. This is why hummingbirds enter a

understand the principles behind Gothard s doctrines. To fully understand Gothard s
teachings, one must first understand the world of psychological counseling.
According to the American Counseling Association, counselors help clients identify
goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil... In essence
counseling helps people understand their problems and gives them tools to deal with
these issues. Although the goal of counseling remains the same across the board, the
beliefs and presuppositions of individual counselors affect the methods and
techniques they implement in their counseling. For the secular psychological
counselor, the focus is ego centric. The goal of counseling is to give the client a
better life and a happier outlook on life so that he can achieve even greater things for
himself. For the Christian, the goal of counseling is to bring the client into a closer

Factors That Play Important Roles in the Change of
Testimony
Running Head: Human Factors Question Human Factors Question Introduction
Walter (2002) has mentioned that fallibility of witness is an important issue in the
American justice system. Honesty of eyewitnesses during the trial is an important
issue that has concerned most in the American justice system. In the presence of a
testimony from an eye witness, jury can judge better as greater impact of an eye
witness is seen on the jury members. Ziskin, Faust and Anderer (2011) have
mentioned that the main responsibility of the jury members is the sorting out of
credibility issues and judging the level of truth presented by the witnesses. Perjury
is thought to be a crime as if a witness can lie in the witness stand; it can have
negative effects on the judgments of the jury, on the dignity held by the trial, and
legitimacy of the judicial systems in America. Pezdek (2007) have mentioned that
there are many definitions for perjury but one of the most important statements in
these cases is to make false statement on the witness stand with having an intention
of lying. In any judicial system, lying is a crime, memory loss or not remembering
a certain event is not considered a crime. Cohen and Conway (2008) have argued
that the credibility and authenticity of the jury is decided by the jury in pure secrecy.
The final judgments that are given by the jury are given without any disclosure of
specific reasons of the judgments. Thereby from here it can be seen that the fallibility

Chapter 1 Short Story
The Vale? Joella asked her father at breakfast three days after their talk. Tywin had
told Joella along with Jaime and Cersei that Jon Arryn had agreed to have Joella
fostered at the Eyrie, along with two other boys. Robert Baratheon, heir to Storm s
End, and Eddard Stark, the second son of Lord Rickard Stark, Warden of the
North. Joella was looking forward to her time in the Eyrie, she knew there would be
times where she would come home on her father s words, but that would be a go
time to see Tyrion.
Joella could tell that her siblings had different feelings. Cersei was happy that there
would the whole Riverland in between them. Whereas Jaime was furious that his
little sister was being sent to the Vale for who knows how long. But... Show more

Thank you, Jaime, Joella said smiling. They pulled apart and looked at each other.
Take care, little sister, Jaime said, Joella smiled and nodded. She then walked over
to Ally, and the older women then bent down so the lioness could say goodbye to her
little brother.
Tyrion looked at everything with wonder, seeing as he had never been out of his
nursery before. He found his sister and smiled, giggling, reaching his hands out to
her. Joella smiled back and kissed his forehead.
Goodbye, Tyrion, I ll miss you, Joella said before hugging Ally and kissing his head
again. As she walked away, Tyrion began to cry, as if he knew that it would a very
long time before he saw her again. But his cries were soon stopped when he saw his
big brother. Jaime tickled Tyrion s chin and his brother began to laugh again.
The last person Joella said goodbye to was her Uncle Gerion. Gerion was standing
behind Ally, with his hands behind his back and had a wide smile. Joella ran over to
him, and when she reached him, he bent to her level.
I do believe that I might just have a gift for you, my little Ella, he said. Joella
giggled just a bit. Gerion cocked his head to the side and asked Would you like me
to give it to you? he asked her. Joella nodded vigorously, laughing at her uncle.
Gerion then showed Joella what was in his hands.
Kittens! Joella said with glee.

Themes and Symbolism in Faulkner s Barn Burning
In Barn Burning by William Faulkner we have the theme of loyalty, conflict, power,
control, authority, justice and reestablishment. The story is narrated in the third
individual by an anonymous narrator and from the earliest starting point of the story
it turns out to be clear to the reader that Faulkner is investigating the theme of loyalty
and conflict. The narrator tells the reader that Sarty, as he is sitting in the store,
considers Harris our enemy... ourn! mine and hisn both. (Faulkner). This
announcement is critical as despite the fact that Sarty realizes that his father is liable
of burning Harris barn regardless he sees Harris ... Show more content on

Cheese has all the earmarks of being utilized as a part of the story to recommend
family solidarity against the legal framework. Toward the start of the story Sarty
supposes he can notice cheese which makes him feel dread, hopelessness and
sorrow. Sarty knows that his father is anticipating that he should lie about what
happened to Harris barn, which thusly causes a conflict inside Sarty, as he needs to
make the best choice (family solidarity versus justice). Likewise later in the story,
Abner, Sarty and his sibling share some cheese outside another store. This may
propose again that Abner needs his family to demonstrate some solidarity against
the legal framework. Fire likewise goes about as symbolism in the story and seems
to speak to power. By portraying the fire as quick it is conceivable that Faulkner is
proposing that with regards to fire, Abner realizes what is required which again may
recommend that he is in charge. The rug which Abner soils are likewise critical as it
symbolizes success, different people groups. It is additionally conceivable that the
rug symbolizes de Spain s authority over Abner and that Abner is subservient to de

me when thinking of all the various danceforms that we have talked of in class and
even those outside of class. One in particular that has interested me the most is swing
dance. With family member involvement in the past and having multiple friends take
part in the Swing Dance Club here on the Wayne State University Campus for
pleasure, enjoyment and social interaction has made me want to go more in depth
about it. With the help from academic sources and knowledge from class lectures I
will be researching the history of swing dancing, the forms of swing dancing, and
what gender roles take place within these movements. According to The Edinburgh
University Swing Dance Society of the Edinburgh University Students Association,
Swing dancing is a style of dance that was originated from Harlem, New York with
Afro American Roots. Although originating with Afro American Roots, I do know
that many other cultures and races take part in this form of social dance, and it is not
segregated to one race specifically. When in the act of this dance, one should feel as
if they are swinging. Swing Dancing developed as a swing style from jazz music

The Murder Of Duncan In William Shakespeare s Macbeth
It is hard to believe that in such a short time so much has happened. It seems only
yesterday that I was merely the wife to the Thane of Glamis, and now I am not only
the wife to the Thane of Cawdor as well, but am well on my way to becoming queen
over all of Scotland! I barely dare to write the words, for fear my recent actions will
reverse themselves and all will be lost. Oh, how simple life was before the plan to
gain the crown wormed its way into my head. It is as though the moment the news
of the weird sisters prophecy reached my ears, I was overcome with the desire to kill
the king. I knew then that I must be queen or my world would collapse. How swiftly
my prospects had changed, and I know that it is what fate had decided for me,

The owls and crickets calling out frightened me for no other reason than that they
were the only creatures making a sound. If only Macbeth had done the task fully,
perhaps then I could sleep soundly. But, alas when he forget to place the blame on
the foolish guards that I so easily drugged, it was left to me to finish our plan. Oh
the horrors that I saw as I entered, yet I felt no remorse. Duncan lay dead, but I still
finished the task swiftly. I pray my hands never again look as red as they did after
I covered the sleeping guards in blood. I feel as though I could still wash my hands
even though they are once again pale and white. When Duncan was discovered the
next morning, my husband began to react too violently to be inconspicuous and so I
mustered my remaining strength and pretended to faint at the sight. Thankfully my
diversion worked well, though I will have to remember to chastise Macbeth for
acting so. And now, with all the trouble being passed and Macbeth and I soon to be
crowned as Scottish monarchs, I feel the pen getting heavy in my hand as I write
this. So I finish with this sentiment; all hail Macbeth, he shall be king

Intersections of Race, Class, and Gender in The Tempest
In Shakespeare s play, The Tempest , the characters of Prospero and Caliban,
represent two different extremes on the social spectrum: the ruler, and the ruled.
Their positions on the social hierarchy are largely due to the fact that Caliban
responds almost wholly to passions, feelings of pleasure; his senses, while Prospero
is ruled more by his intellect and self discipline; his mind. Within The Tempestthere
are obvious social implications regarding this social hierarchy, with the
representations of characters such as Caliban and Prospero. During Shakespeare s
time social classification was much more rigid than today and some members ... Show

Essentially Prospero lands on Caliban s island, takes away everything he has, and
then forces him to become his slave proclaiming he saved him from his witch
mother. This is yet another perfect example of how Prospero displays the obvious
social hierarchy and is also the typical colonizer. These actions and consequent
reasoning s are also prime examples of Prospero s horrible tyrannical ways from the
beginning of the play. Prospero and Caliban s relationship is strained from the
beginning of the play when Prospero s strong authoritative beliefs begin to surface.
Caliban has the right of ownership of the island; however, Prospero firmly
believes in the superiority of the white European over the half devil islander.
While this puts a strain on their relationship from the start, the boiling point came
when Caliban attempts to rape Miranda, Prospero s daughter. Even after
attempting to rape Miranda, Caliban was brutally honest in not denying his
malicious intent. O ho, O ho! Would t had been done!/ Thou didst prevent me; I
had peopled else/ This isle with Calibans (I.2.349 51). In response to Caliban s
attempted rape and his obvious total lack of remorse for it, Prospero states, I have
used thee / with humane care, and lodge thee/ In mine own cell till thou didst seek
to violate / The honor of my child (I.2.345 8). Prospero recounts here that he has

The Role Of Feminism In The National Women s Party
Woman have fought for equality for a innumerable amount of years. However,
recently feminism has become apparent again. Women are fighting for equal pay
and are running as presidential candidates. But how did this all start? Less than a
hundred years ago women didn t even have the right to vote. So how is it that a
hundred years later women like Hilary Clinton and Sarah Palin could be running for
presidential office. Now first let s get this straight; feminismis the belief that men and
women should have equal rights and opportunities , according to Merriam Webster.
Which leads to the very important topic of the National Women s Party, which has

Lucy and Alice s first activity on NAWSA s account was to organize a massive
national suffrage parade. The parade was arranged to take place in Washington,
D.C., on March 1913. The parade made it very clear to the President elect and
Congress that the National American Women s Suffrage Association would hold the
Democratic Party responsible if the women s suffrage amendment failed to pass.
Despite the much needed publicity of the parade, Anna Howard Shaw and Carrie
Chapman Catt, presidents of the National American Women s Suffrage Association
continued to be skeptical. The two presidents of the association feared that
antagonizing congress may lead to difficulties when trying to gain widespread
support. Shaw and Catt wanted a overall agreement for ratification of a federal
amendment to grant women the right to vote. Later, Paul and Burns established a
Congressional Union for Women s Suffrage. In early June 1916, the Congressional
Union vouched for a convention in Chicago. This convention was for women in the
West who had voting rights in their states. The National Woman s Party and for a
short time known as the Woman s Party of Western Voters emerged as a result of this
conference. Congressional Union member and Washington lobbyist Anne Martin of
Nevada became the National Women s Party s first chairman. The goal of the world
s first women s political party was to remain independent of the existing political
parties and to campaign on a platform consisting of one plank immediate passage of

Humanity In The Maze Runner
What does the Maze Runner suggest about the world as it is today? Dashner is
suggesting through the science fictional novel The Maze Runner that we humans
allow the rough times to get the best of our humanity (what makes us human).
Dashner discusses and reflects on the threats humanity faces, looks into the truths
behind science fiction, highlights the impact that our attitude towards and perspective
on certain people has on us, contributes factors that have the power to claim certain
senses of our humanity, warns of the dangers behind our rapidly advancing
technology, questions the decisions and ways of our leaders and, in particular, takes a
deeper look into what it means to be human. Through science fiction Dashner has

Dashner has used the character Chuck to represent humanity. Despite the rough
times Chuck still remains the innocent child with the big heart. He s the small,
podgy, humorous 12 year old with the ugly bowl haircut amongst the big, strong,
serious 16+ young adults. Thomas turned to his right to see a kid standing nearby,
short and podgy, staring at him. He was young probably the youngest of any in the
group he d seen so far, maybe twelve or thirteen years old. His brown hair hung
over his ears and neck, scraping the tops of his shoulders. Blue eyes shone through
his otherwise pitiful face, flabby and flushed. (Thomas s description of Chuck,
pg.13 14). Chuck is the odd one out, and Dashner has purposely made him to stand
out in order to emphasise how the others have lost a sense of their humanity. Chuck
also has the ability to return and remind other characters of this lost sense, in
particular Thomas. The friendship struck by these two characters is rather
heartwarming. As much as Thomas tries to deny their relationship at first, he can t
help but take on a big brother like role towards him. Through this connection Chuck
helps us to identify the sense of humanity Tom has lost, compassion and real
emotion, as well as being able to remind Tom again of what it feels like to truly love
and care. Thomas stared at him, stared at his lifeless body. Something happened
within Thomas. It started deep down in his chest, a seed of rage. Of revenge. Of hate.
Something dark and terrible. And then it exploded, bursting through his lungs,
through his neck, through his arms and legs. Through his mind . (Thomas feelings
towards Chucks murder, pg.354). This emotion from Thomas was evoked by Chuck.
Hate, one of humanities strongest emotions that can only truly be brought on by
loving something so much. Tom s feelings towards Chuck were able to return is
strong emotions and fuel his motivation.
Gallstones Research Paper
What is Gallstones in Cats?
The cat s gallbladder is a small, balloon shaped organ that is located in the lobes of
the liver. Its primary function is releasing bile into the digestive tract to aid in the
digestion of food. Cholelithiasis is a condition that causes small stones, or choleliths,
to form in the gallbladder. These stones are typically made of calcium carbonate
mixed with other secreted substance and minerals.
Though gallstones are rare in cats, the presence of large stones is a medical
emergency as the stones can block the bile from being released and cause problems
with the liver, digestive system and the kidneys.
Symptoms of Gallstones in Cats
Symptoms may be mild or not present at all until the gallstone blocks the flow of bile
from the gallbladder. Typical symptoms include:
Lack of appetite
Weight loss
Vomiting
Abdominal pain
Jaundice, which will present with yellowing of the inner ears, whites ... Show more

The ultrasound will look for the presence of gallstones, inflammation of the liver,
blockage of the bile duct, thickened gallbladder walls or an oversized bile duct tract.
An ultrasound can detect gallstones that are two millimeters or larger in size.
Treatment of Gallstones in Cats
No Treatment
Small gallstones that aren t causing symptoms or digestive problems may not need
any treatment. These stones are typically found during an ultrasound for another
condition, such as pregnancy.
Medication
Antibiotics will be prescribed to the cat to clear infections or bacterial
complications that are causing the gallstones to form. Antibiotics may also be
prescribed before surgery in order to prevent infection from occurring after surgery.
Ursodeoxycholic acid may be prescribed twice a day in order to dissolve small
gallstones that aren t blocking the bile duct. S Adenosylmethionine, or SAMe, may
also be given in order to improve bile production and function of the liver.

The Vietnam War Was A Significant Moment For Canada
The Vietnam War was a historically significant moment for Canada which followed
the First and Second World War. This was due to Canada s large involvement in
helping the South of Vietnam in their war efforts. Canada plays a large roll in this
war costs and their manufacturing for war materials. One must first know how the
war began before understanding how Canada contributed. Although the start of the
VietnamWar had nothing to do with Canada, later events in the war were related to
Canada largely. The beginning of the war is a crucial part in how we got involved in
the Vietnam War. On May 7th 1954, Viet Minh had finally won the Battle of Dien
Bien Phu marking the end of the First Indochina War. This was a breakthrough for
Vietnam because this meant that France was no longer involved with Vietnam, and
the French would then seize fire. A new government would now rule Vietnam. The
North of Vietnam was becoming communist while the South of Vietnam was
becoming more anti communist. The United Statesof America feared that if
communism took over Vietnam, it would then start to spread to South East Asia. The
United States of America feared this possibility because it would then be a much
greater threat to them than they thought originally. On the 8th of March 1965 the
United States of America decided to take action and form an alliance with South
Vietnam anti communist forces and they sent 3, 500 soldiers to fight in the Vietnam
War. This number increased very
The Pros And Cons Of Usucapio Laws
In Roman law, usucapio laws allowed someone who was in possession of a good
without title to become the lawful proprietor if the original owner didn t show up
after some time (one or two years), unless the good was obtained illegally (by theft
or force). Stemming from Roman law and its successor, the Napoleonic Code,
adopted as the basis of law in France, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain,
and also, in part, by the Netherlands and Germany, adverse possessiongenerally
recognizes two time periods for the acquisition of property: 30 years and some lesser

The person may not occupy the land secretively or make efforts to remain
undetected. The occupation must not be covert. It should be clear to any normal
person who inspects the property that someone is using the property in sort
reasonable fashion. In other words, if the titled owner were to visit the property, it
would be apparent that another is making use of the land. Many states refer to
inclosing the property within a fence. A landowner is not required, however, to have
actual knowledge of the occupation. The person occupying the land must act as the
owner by engaging in acts consistent with the property s purpose. Such acts must
generally be observed by others to be typical of that expected of an owner. The
actions of the disseisor must change the state of the land (in the case of non
residential property, taking such actions as clearing, mowing, planting, harvesting
fruit of the land, logging or cutting timber, mining, fencing, pulling tree stumps,
running livestock and constructing buildings or other improvements) or, if the
property is residential, maintaining the property for its intended use (taking such
actions as mowing the yard, trimming trees and hedges, changing locks, repairing or
replacing fixtures such as a swimming pool, sprinkler system, or appliances), all to
the exclusion of its true owner. In Cone v. West Virginia Pulp Paper, the United
States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit held that Cone failed to establish actual
possession by occasionally visiting the land and hunting on it, because his actions did
not change the land from a wild and natural
Italian Influence On The Renaissance
When contemplating on the Renaissance and its place in history, immediately
reflections of Leonardo da Vinci s Mona Lisa, Michelangelo s David, sculptures of
human anatomy, philosophical treatises on the human condition, and among others
populate the mind, but how did this output of great work manage to seemingly appear
almost simultaneously? Firstly, the Renaissancea French word literally meaning
rebirth was an age of cultural enrichment and achievement where the arts, sciences,

and roman texts. Its period is generally dated from the early 14th to the mid 17th

Penicaud is clearly influenced by humanistic and naturalistic thought [1]. The topic of
this exceptional plaque is acrobatics; however if we were to widen our scope one can
understand the physical and mental agility that s beneath the goal of brilliant skill.
Acrobatics allow for the showcasing of male agility and strength highlighting the
humanistic quality for pursuit of excellence. The use of grisaille accentuates the
abstract aspects of the design at the expense of realism. The manipulation of anatomy
for aesthetic effect is characteristic of the mannerist style [2]. Naturalism is often
confused with realism , a style of art that focuses on realities and truth, rather than the
ideals and aesthetics. The difference between Realism and Naturalism is that realism
tends to be preoccupied with the content of the art rather than technique or
methodology. This means that the primary focus is on the subject who or what rather
than how it is created. Typically, realist artists depict common people going about
their ordinary lives, rather than

The difficulty lies in striking a balance between providing concrete examples, presenting persuasive arguments, and maintaining a coherent structure. Firstly, sourcing relevant examples that effectively illustrate the key points is a time-consuming task. The need for recent and credible examples adds another layer of complexity. Assembling a collection of compelling arguments demands thorough research and critical thinking. It's essential to ensure that each argument is logically sound and supported by reliable evidence. The challenge extends to the essay's structure and organization. Balancing the introduction, body, and conclusion while maintaining a cohesive flow of ideas is crucial. The essay must engage the reader from the outset, present a strong thesis statement, and gradually build a persuasive case. Transitions between paragraphs and ideas should be seamless to enhance the overall readability. Additionally, incorporating counterarguments and effectively refuting them adds depth and credibility to the essay. This requires a nuanced understanding of opposing viewpoints and the ability to present a convincing counter-narrative. • 2. Themes Of All Quiet On The Western Front All Quiet On The Western Front written by Erich Maria Remarque is a wonderful tale that expresses the theme of comradeship, dehumanizing effects of war, and the futility of war. All 296 pages are full of twists and turns, lessons to learn, and all the brutality of war. This anti war book opens your eyes to situations you ve never thought about. It shines a new light on battle that has never been documented before. All Quiet on the Western Frontis a coming of age book that teaches you many valuable things. Remarque s All Quiet On The Western Front had many great lessons, one of the greatest ones was the theme of comradeship. During his time on the front, Paul and his buddies formed a bond with each other that could not be broken. This is clear when Paul states that they are the strongest, most comforting thing there is anywhere: they are the voices of my comrades. (Remarque 212) In this line, Paul expresses his compassion and respect, he has for his comrades. Paul s thought process encourages the idea that his friends help him get through each day, That during his hardest times, his friends voices help him push through it. When Paul was going through an internal battle, his comrades talked to him and helped him work it out. For example, when Paul finally lets his frustrations out to his friends he listens to them and feels comforted, reassured by their presence. (Remarque, 228) The theme of comradeship is being able to forge connections with other soldiers.

That is what always makes unrequited love difficult. In Romeo and Juliet, unrequited love is present whether apparent or implied. Romeo falls in love with Rosaline and Paris falls in love with Juliet which remain the most obvious examples. However, I do believe their is an unrequited love between Juliet and her parents. Mistress minion you, Thank my no thankings, nor proud me no prouds, But fettle your fine joints gainst Thursday next ........... ........... Out, you green sickness carrion! Out, you baggage! ........... (III, v, 154 162) This quote proved how cruel Lord Capulet was to Juliet. He disrespected her and disregarded her wants. He criticized her and later slapped her. He forced her into doing something she did not want to do, showing how selfish he was. Hang thee, young baggage, disobedient wretch! I tell thee what: get thee to church o Thursday, Or never after look me in the face. Speak not; reply not; do not answer me. My fingers itch, Wife we scarce thought us blessed (III, v, 166 171) They question their blessing, Juliet, which shows they do not really care for her, because no parent would question whether their child was a blessing. Well, a good parent would not. In conclusion, Juliet and her parents, Paris and Juliet, and Romeo and Rosaline all experienced unrequited love in the play Romeo and Juliet. Whether obvious or not, they are there and continue throughout the book. Unrequited love put the play into twists and turns, making it a lot harder for the characters to cope with their problems. Both of these artists grew up seeing and living a life filled with violence. Gunshots and drive byes, death and murder were a daily occurrence. Although the lyrics of both artists are simply telling their life stories and how hard it was to grow up in their hoods they contain vulgar, hateful, and sexual verses that send the wrong message to their listeners. For both artists, they had videos displaying women with nearly nothing on, smoking, drinking and carrying weapons, but kids people liked it. That s why both of these artists are known as the best of all time. What they didn t see though was the rising amount of disrespect towards women, increase in drug sales and an enormous increase in gun violence during this time. This is proven by Lindsay John, The endemic of violence in the black community can be directly traced back to the whole irresponsible images of black masculinity which is fed to us through music. Woodrow Wilson and The Presidency Essays Woodrow Wilson and The Presidency From the beginning of the 1912 election, the people could sense the new ideas of Woodrow Wilson would move them in the right direction. Wilson s idea of New Freedom would almost guarantee his presidential victory in 1912. In contrast to Wilson s New Freedom, Roosevelt s New Nationalism called for the continued consolidation of trusts and labor unions, paralleled by the growth of powerful regulatory agencies. Roosevelt s ideas were founded in the Herbert Croly s novel, The Promise Of American Life written in 1910. The final authority over these banks was granted to the Federal Reserve Board, which guaranteed a substantial measure of public control. The board was also empowered to issue paper money called quot;Federal Reserve Notes. quot; The amount of money in circulation could be swiftly increased as needed for the legitimate requirements of business. In 1914, Woodrow Wilsontried to tame the trusts. Again making a personal ap pearance to address Congress with his propositions helped dramatize the situation and sway the support towards his ideas. Congress responded with the Federal Trade Commis sion Act of 1914. The new law empowered a presidentially appointed commission to toughen regulations on interstate commerce. This was supposed to crush monopolies by wiping out unfair trade policies. Next came the Clayton Anti Trust Act of 1914, which was meant to further strangle the major monopolies. It lengthened the list of business practices deemed objectionable in the Sherman Act. Now, price discrimination and inter locking directorates were gravely forbidden. Wilson had caught the attention of the public by conquering the quot;triple wall of privilege. quot; With the full support of the public,

Setting up a Company by Shares The setting up of a company by shares Joint stock company A joint stock company is a company whose stock is owned jointly by a large number of shareholders who are unacquainted with each other. A joint stock company is a form of partnership where each member is financially responsible for the acts of the company. Each shareholder owns a part of the company in proportion to his ownership of the company s shares. This allows the unequal ownership of a business where some shareholders own a larger proportion of the company than others. The setting up of a Joint Stock Company involves some requirements. There is a minimum number of two shareholders, there has to be a Supervisory Board formed of at least three censors , at least one must be a certified accountant , appointed for a period of three years. Also, if there is more than one director a Board of Directors must be constituted. The shareholders holders of the Romanian joint stock company can be either natural or legal persons. The minimum number of shareholders is two. For the Joint Stock Company the minimum share capital cannot be below 90,000 RON the equivalent of at least 25,000 Euro and is divided into shares having a minimum value of 0.1 RON. The amount of the minimum share capital may be modified by the Government so as to represent the equivalent of 25,000 Euro. The founders must subscribe to the entire social capital of the company and must pay at least 30% of its value, the rest of to 70% having to be paid
  • 9. Demand And Supply Framework Influence Price The quantity demanded of a good or service is defined as the amount that consumers want to buy over a certain time period, and at a particular price. This theory is based on the law of demand which states assuming all other things stay the same, when the price of a good rises this causes the quantity demanded of the good to decrease; and when the price of a good falls, the quantity demanded of the good will increase. The quantity supplied of a good or service is the amount that producers look to sell over a time period at a certain price. The law of supply states, assuming everything else remains unchanged the higher the price of a good, the higher the quantity supplied and the lower the price of a good, the less the quantity supplied. This diagram here shows how the demand and supply framework influence price. Take dairy milk for an example, in 2009 the price for dairy milk was 23.73 pence per litre, the demand for dairy milk was 982 million litres in that year and the supply of milk in 2009 was 13,128 million litres. This meant there was an excess supply, this is when there is too much supply of a product, in this case dairy milk and not enough demand. This may of caused the price to fall to what it was as the excess supply didn t allow the market equilibrium to be met therefore a new market equilibrium would have been created and that caused the price to be lower as the market price will fall to try and increase demand. Price elasticity of demand is defined as

The Federalist Papers By John Jay The Federalist Papers, written in New York by John Jay, Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, during the years of 1787 and 1788, were a collection of eighty five essays that were written to augment and garner support and to defend those concepts set forth in The Constitution of the United States of America (hereafter The Constitution ), which had not yet been ratified. The Federalist Papersnot only championed The Constitution, but they also explained how the new government would operate in the United Statesas further detailed below. It was crucial to the success of the new country that The Constitution be ratified; and Jay, Hamilton and Madison were prepared to do anything they could to see to the documents, as well as the United States, success. In September of 1787, The Constitution was proposed to The Confederation Congress. The Confederation Congress was a government that was made up of appointed delegates from the then, thirteen states. Since it was the supreme governing body, it was the party that was able to make the decision about the fate of The Constitution. The decision made was to turn the decision over to the states for ratification. Therefore, Jay, Hamilton and Madison wrote the Federalist Papers to ensure that there was going to be adequate support to have the states ratify The Constitution. Additionally, they were written to counter act the negative comments being made by those persons opposed to The Constitution, which included

People approach you when they usually wouldn t approach anyone else. Furthermore, others are drawn to people in wheelchairs because they automatically feel pity and interest in the difference in lifestyles. She relied on an interpreter to explain to us what she was saying, but as the interpreter said, she learned how to understand Delaina by repetition, as Delaina would make certain shapes with her mouth when she would talk and the interpreter figured out how to understand her over time. Delaina is the perfect example of an individual with a disability who does not need help. She comes up with her own sketches, operates her own wheelchair, and can type into her computer to let us know what she is thinking. Her brilliance was apparent when she talked about how dedicated she was to her sketches and how she was honored to attend the University of Florida. Throughout my life I ve made sacrifices that most of my peers would not do willingly. From childhood I knew that achieving the best grades and challenging myself in academics would allow me to pursue what I wanted later in life, and I knew it wouldn t be easy. I have sacrificed uncountable amounts of hours that I could have spent with friends or doing other fun activities, to study for my classes. As an example, my mom s side of the family has had many funerals in the recent past. I have chose to miss some of these funerals to stay in school. I do not do this because I don t love my relatives. I miss the funerals because I know how important school is, and that my relatives would want me to succeed in getting a great education and achieving my goals. Making major sacrifices like this allowed me to keep a 4.0 G.P.A. throughout my educational career, and deepen my knowledge of world around me. Not only have I been able to make the sacrifices needed to keep myself ahead of game, but I ve also managed to master my time management skills. I have always loved soccer, and I have push myself time and time again to work at becoming the best I can be. So, when I came into high school and the load of school work and time dedicated to soccer increased, and I knew had to find a way to balance both. This is an issue I constantly see my peers struggling with, but not me. I
  • 15. Diabetes Mellitus And Type 2 Diabetes Essay Diabetes mellitus, known as diabetes is a grouping of metabolic diseases that present, over a long period of time, levels of high blood sugar. There are two main forms of diabetes: Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. In addition to these two, there is also what is called Gestational Diabetes. In all cases, insulin is somehow not doing its job: Insulin is a hormone produced by beta cells of the pancreas, and is needed to allow glucose to enter the cells and produce energy. If this point is not completed, the subject will suffer from high blood sugar. If not treated and if present for a long time, the subject will suffer from diabetes mellitus in one of its forms, depending on the cause of this insulin malfunction. Thus, we will be discussing the causes, symptoms, and treatments of diabetes in all its forms. Type 1 diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes or insulin dependent diabetes, occurs when one s immune system destroys the cells responsible for insulin making (beta cells) in the pancreas. Thus, the pancreas produces either too little or no insulin at all. Subjects with type 1 diabetes need insulin every day till the rest of their lives to replace the insulin that the body is not producing. Blood glucose level tests must be done several times during the day. The onset of type 1 diabetes usually hits people under 30 years; although, it can occur at any age. Almost about 10 15% of all diabetes cases are type 1. Without insulin the body will be

The Influenza and Pneumonia Epidemic of 1918-1919 Essay The Influenza and Pneumonia Epidemic of 1918 1919 In the ten months between September 1918 and June 1919, 675,000 Americans died of influenza and pneumonia. When compared to the number of Americans killed in combat in World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam combined 423,000 it becomes apparent that the influenza epidemic of 1918 1919 was far more deadly than the war which it accompanied. (Crosby, 206 207) The United States and the rest of the world had been exposed to such epidemics in the past, but never at such a severe cost in human life. The influenza epidemic came in two waves. The first wave began in the spring of 1918; for the most part, America s public health system ignored it. Generally, public health departments did not receive reports of influenza. Most doctors cited pneumonia on the death certificates of those killed, since flu came first and weakened the resistance of the sick, then pneumonia followed and was the eventual cause of death for most people. The problem of diagnosis caused much confusion in determining the actual number of cases of flu. The Denver Post ran an article during that first wave to inform its readers of how to tell the difference between a cold and the flu. According to the Post , the onset of a cold is not so sudden, its ache not so severe, its fever not so high, and it is marked by chilliness rather than definite chills. (Crosby, note on 41) Bacteriological tests did not provide any further insight, and doctors around the country argued the merits and drawbacks of various diagnostic methods. Finally, the spring wave of flu went largely unnoticed for the most part because the United States did not have a sufficient network of federal, state, and local public health departments. They could not communicate properly to compile existing data on influenza and pneumonia in 1918 into some sort of picture of the epidemic. The only clear picture came from such institutions and organizations as prisons and the Armed Forces. They held complete jurisdiction over

In a Scientific manner, an official definition of exoplanets may be at this point unjustified since the situation is still evolving and that any definitive definition is likely to be too rigid to adapt to new discoveries (Schnieder et al. 2011). • 20. Symptoms And Treatment Of Pompe s Disease Background Pompe s disease is a glycogen storage disease caused by mutation in a gene coding for the acid 1 4 alpha glucosidase (GAA), the key enzyme in glycogenolysis within lysosomes. GAA deficiency results in accumulation of glycogen and successive enlargement of lysosomes. As the lysosomes enlarge, there is also accumulation of other related byproducts, overtaking the space regularly occupied by myofibrils and impeding their function (Lewandowska E et al., 2008). Individuals with a complete loss of GAA activity usually do not live past the age of 2, usually dying from heartfailure (Hesselink RP et al., 2003)(Sun B et al., 2015). Individuals with incomplete loss of GAA activity, or late onset Pompe disease, typically survive until... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the lysosomes are failing they begin to swell; the proton pumps are unable to properly maintain the pH gradient to process and phagacytize cell products, causing the accumulation of lipofuscin in skeletal muscle (Hesselink RP et al., 2003). These lipofuscin inclusions in individuals with Pompe s disease prevent muscle from functioning properly (Feeney et al., 2014) Rapamycin, also known as sirolimus, is an inhibitor of mTORC1 in the pathway for glycogen synthesis (Phyu SM et al., 2016). Rapamycin is currently used as a treatment for many different medical conditions but has been shown to reduce glycogen content in GSD III and reduce oxidative stress. It is a small molecule drug with more specific purpose (Sun, B et al., 2015) as opposed to enzyme replacement therapy, the commonly used treatment for GSD II which mostly treats the large scale cardiac problems associated with full loss of GAA. The senator changed all that when he delivered a speech in February 1950, in which he leveled allegations that the State Department employed numerous Communists. He claimed to possess a list of these Communist employees, although that list was never produced (Tindall, George Brown, and David Emory Shi). Senator McCarthy s attempt to gain publicity with his outlandish accusations worked. Since the first Red Scare years before the fifties, many Americans continued to be terrified of Communists and their potential ability to corrupt and overrun America. Senator McCarthy played on these fears, and he continued to claim communism had infiltrated every aspect of America; politics, culture and all of American society. Because of the similarity of events from the first Red Scare, this time period of the early fifties in America is often called the second Red Scare. The second Red Scare in America s history actually began in the late forties, previous to McCarthy s emergence in 1950, and it continued on throughout the fifties lasting at least a dozen years (Storrs, Landon R. During Reconstruction, the country was trying to make amends after the war was over. The country needed to find a way to mend a broken nation because it was divided. The main issue during reconstruction was the status of African Americans because they wanted their civil rights, but could not get that. The question that needs to be answered is: who did the most to aid the cause of African American during Reconstruction, and why? Many organizations and people helped African Americans, but the Freedman s Bureau did the most. They helped provide education for the freed African Americans. According to the Virginia Historical Society, they say, they used their authority over former confederate properties to provide buildings for schools. The Freedman s Bureau wanted to make sure that African Americans had a proper education because they were deprived of education while they were growing up. The Virginia Historical Society says, the Freedman s Bureau, missionary associations, and African Americans themselves funded the schools; many of the mostly white, female teachers came from the south with the missionary associations. The Bureau wanted this to be successful and with the help of the missionary associations and the African Americas to fund the schools, it would make it a reality. The Freedman s Bureau did everything that they could to make sure the African
  • 29. Renaissance Art Analysis The Renaissance period is known for displaying a new interest in naturalism. It was also the beginning of humanism, where portraits became highly popular, starting around 1400. Increases in artistic patronage, particularly among the middle class, happened between the 15th and 18th centuries, and Leonardo Da Vinci, a popular artist of the Renaissanceperiod, painted many paintings commissioned by people outside of the Church. One such example is the famous painting, the Mona Lisa, which Da Vinci supposedly painted in Florence for a Florentine merchant (the female in the painting is rumored to be his wife), according to Harris and Zucker (2016). This new diversity in patrons over the 15th to 18th centuries meant a giant move away from religious themed art, which had always been commissioned by the Church, and was only really visible to people in Churches. Art became more versatile and less focused on religion more mythical in some areas, while focusing on real life scenarios and wealthy people in others. What I like about the significant shift over those centuries is that art became more of what it is today; it resonated with a wider audience, and people started to have more of a say in what they would like commissioned. Basically, anything goes in the art world, and I believe this push to a wider audience and varied patronage helped to create the worldwide love of art we see today; it is a somewhat of a joyful necessity in life, and comes in all forms and is of all subjects. Furthermore, the private patronage helped to push up the pricing of art, particularly of famous artists, which has seen pricing sky rocket throughout history, from around the late 1400s until the present

Lender Liability and the Duty of Good Faith Lender Liability and the Duty of Good Faith I.Introduction From time to time, lenders and their attorneys announce that lender liability is no longer an issue with which the lending community needs to be concerned. What usually prompts this proclamation of the death of lender liability is a recent case in which a court has summarily rejected a borrower s claim that the lender violated the duty of good faith and fair dealing. Many courts have rejected borrowers lawsuits which are based on allegations of the violation of the lender s duty of good faith. Nevertheless, lender liability should continue to be an area of concern to lenders. Although courts often dismiss cases based on a borrower s claims of lender bad faith, in other... Then a discussion of the objective and subjective test of good faith will take place before finally concluding that the good faith obligation should not be imposed in debtor creditor situations to override express terms of a contract. II.The U.C.C. A.The Good Faith Performance Obligation and the U.C.C. The central provision of the U.C.C. s good faith requirement is found in В§ 1 203, which provides that every contract or duty within this Act imposes an obligation of good faith in its performance or enforcement. With regard to debtor creditor relationships in particular, this obligation of good faith performance imposes on a lender a duty to deal in good faith with its borrower in all situations, not only in situations where, because of the circumstances of the loan, the lender has assumed actual control over and a fiduciary responsibility for the borrower. One troublesome but important aspect of the good faith performance obligation is its application to contracts, which provide that one party to the contract may, in its sole discretion, take certain actions pursuant to the contract. In such cases, the actions of the party who can exercise its discretion may affect all parties to the contract, and dependent parties must rely on the good faith of the party given the right to exercise its discretion. Often, the discretion exercised by the party in control will adversely affect the dependent party. However, it does not necessarily follow that

Judith is a woman well acquainted with suffering, losing first her mother, then her fiancГ© at the hand of her brother, and finally her father. She watches her family s wealth disintegrate as a result of the heavy toll exacted by the Civil War, and eventually becomes accustomed to tending her own garden, spinning her own thread, and weaving her own cloth as the poor would do (125), since the Reconstruction Era showed no discrimination in turning both wealthy and impoverished Southerners into the poor. Once her childhood has come to a close and the era of desolation has set in, during which she is forced to cope with hardship after hardship, Faulkner begins to consistently portray her as wearing a worn, discolored homemade dress of calico or gingham (plain woven cotton fabrics). In one sense this represents the poverty that is laying waste to the South and the Sutpen family, but on a deeper level the dress comes to symbolize the deprivation and sorrow which Judith has endured, and specifically her inability or perhaps refusal to emote in response to these tragedies. The first time the dress appears to the reader is during Miss Rosa s description of her first encounter with Judith after Charles Bon s death: I ran, fled, up the stairs and found no grieving widowed bride but Judith standing before the closed door to that chamber, in the

Liberal tenets have been a basis of thought and action in American politics since well before the signing of the Constitution. Certainly, liberalism has had to transform in order to remain a legitimate force throughout the years. When considering this transformation, one may ask whether or not the ideas and goals of classical liberalism have been lost in the conversion into modern liberalism. The Declaration of Independence embodied these thoughts precisely and clearly. When Thomas Jefferson wrote about the quot;inalienable rights... life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness quot; he was speaking of the inherent rights of man and went further to declare that any government that chooses to dispel these rights is subject to overthrow by the governed. In short Jefferson was saying that the right of the government to rule is derived from the people s ability to utilize and approve of their level of independence. Modern America embraces and reveres the ideals above. This leaves modern liberalism with the chore of expanding these rights. The focus has now shifted from the attainment of these rights to the perfection of them. In the above statement I mean to show that liberal ideas of freedom and liberty have changed considerably. This can be clarified by the following quote: quot;A man who was poor, uneducated, ill housed, and subject to the fluctuations economic cycle could not be considered free though he lived in a nation whose government abided by the tenets of laissez faire. True liberty, liberals began to contend, required the ability of man to use his talents and energies in a constructive fashion it meant the positive freedom to achieve and accomplish. quot; (Volkomer, 4) This quotation suggests that modern liberals

In the presence of a testimony from an eye witness, jury can judge better as greater impact of an eye witness is seen on the jury members. Ziskin, Faust and Anderer (2011) have mentioned that the main responsibility of the jury members is the sorting out of credibility issues and judging the level of truth presented by the witnesses. Perjury is thought to be a crime as if a witness can lie in the witness stand; it can have negative effects on the judgments of the jury, on the dignity held by the trial, and legitimacy of the judicial systems in America. Pezdek (2007) have mentioned that there are many definitions for perjury but one of the most important statements in these cases is to make false statement on the witness stand with having an intention of lying. In any judicial system, lying is a crime, memory loss or not remembering a certain event is not considered a crime. Cohen and Conway (2008) have argued that the credibility and authenticity of the jury is decided by the jury in pure secrecy. The final judgments that are given by the jury are given without any disclosure of specific reasons of the judgments. Thereby from here it can be seen that the fallibility of the

The parade was arranged to take place in Washington, D.C., on March 1913. The parade made it very clear to the President elect and Congress that the National American Women s Suffrage Association would hold the Democratic Party responsible if the women s suffrage amendment failed to pass. Despite the much needed publicity of the parade, Anna Howard Shaw and Carrie Chapman Catt, presidents of the National American Women s Suffrage Association continued to be skeptical. The two presidents of the association feared that antagonizing congress may lead to difficulties when trying to gain widespread support. Shaw and Catt wanted a overall agreement for ratification of a federal amendment to grant women the right to vote. Later, Paul and Burns established a Congressional Union for Women s Suffrage. In early June 1916, the Congressional Union vouched for a convention in Chicago. This convention was for women in the West who had voting rights in their states. The National Woman s Party and for a short time known as the Woman s Party of Western Voters emerged as a result of this conference. Congressional Union member and Washington lobbyist Anne Martin of Nevada became the National Women s Party s first chairman. The goal of the world s first women s political party was to remain independent of the existing political parties and to campaign on a platform consisting of one plank immediate passage of the Susan B. Dashner is suggesting through the science fictional novel The Maze Runner that we humans allow the rough times to get the best of our humanity (what makes us human). Dashner discusses and reflects on the threats humanity faces, looks into the truths behind science fiction, highlights the impact that our attitude towards and perspective on certain people has on us, contributes factors that have the power to claim certain senses of our humanity, warns of the dangers behind our rapidly advancing technology, questions the decisions and ways of our leaders and, in particular, takes a deeper look into what it means to be human. Despite the rough times Chuck still remains the innocent child with the big heart. He s the small, podgy, humorous 12 year old with the ugly bowl haircut amongst the big, strong, serious 16+ young adults. Thomas turned to his right to see a kid standing nearby, short and podgy, staring at him. He was young probably the youngest of any in the group he d seen so far, maybe twelve or thirteen years old. His brown hair hung over his ears and neck, scraping the tops of his shoulders. Blue eyes shone through his otherwise pitiful face, flabby and flushed. (Thomas s description of Chuck, pg.13 14). Chuck is the odd one out, and Dashner has purposely made him to stand out in order to emphasise how the others have lost a sense of their humanity. Chuck also has the ability to return and remind other characters of this lost sense, in particular Thomas. The friendship struck by these two characters is rather heartwarming. As much as Thomas tries to deny their relationship at first, he can t help but take on a big brother like role towards him. Through this connection Chuck helps us to identify the sense of humanity Tom has lost, compassion and real emotion, as well as being able to remind Tom again of what it feels like to truly love and care. Thomas stared at him, stared at his lifeless body. Something happened within Thomas. It started deep down in his chest, a seed of rage. Of revenge. Of hate. Something dark and terrible. And then it exploded, bursting through his lungs, through his neck, through his arms and legs. Through his mind . (Thomas feelings towards Chucks murder, pg.354). This emotion from Thomas was evoked by Chuck. Hate, one of humanities strongest emotions that can only truly be brought on by loving something so much. Tom s feelings towards Chuck were able to return is strong emotions and fuel his motivation.

  • 53. The Vietnam War Was A Significant Moment For Canada The Vietnam War was a historically significant moment for Canada which followed the First and Second World War. This was due to Canada s large involvement in helping the South of Vietnam in their war efforts. Canada plays a large roll in this war costs and their manufacturing for war materials. One must first know how the war began before understanding how Canada contributed. Although the start of the VietnamWar had nothing to do with Canada, later events in the war were related to Canada largely. The beginning of the war is a crucial part in how we got involved in the Vietnam War. On May 7th 1954, Viet Minh had finally won the Battle of Dien Bien Phu marking the end of the First Indochina War. This was a breakthrough for Vietnam because this meant that France was no longer involved with Vietnam, and the French would then seize fire. A new government would now rule Vietnam. The North of Vietnam was becoming communist while the South of Vietnam was becoming more anti communist. The United Statesof America feared that if communism took over Vietnam, it would then start to spread to South East Asia. The United States of America feared this possibility because it would then be a much greater threat to them than they thought originally. On the 8th of March 1965 the United States of America decided to take action and form an alliance with South Vietnam anti communist forces and they sent 3, 500 soldiers to fight in the Vietnam War. This number increased very

The Pros And Cons Of Usucapio Laws In Roman law, usucapio laws allowed someone who was in possession of a good without title to become the lawful proprietor if the original owner didn t show up after some time (one or two years), unless the good was obtained illegally (by theft or force). Italian Influence On The Renaissance When contemplating on the Renaissance and its place in history, immediately reflections of Leonardo da Vinci s Mona Lisa, Michelangelo s David, sculptures of human anatomy, philosophical treatises on the human condition, and among others populate the mind, but how did this output of great work manage to seemingly appear almost simultaneously? Firstly, the Renaissancea French word literally meaning rebirth was an age of cultural enrichment and achievement where the arts, sciences, and philosophy flourished largely due to the revival and revisitation of ancient Greek and roman texts. Naturalism is often confused with realism , a style of art that focuses on realities and truth, rather than the ideals and aesthetics. The difference between Realism and Naturalism is that realism tends to be preoccupied with the content of the art rather than technique or methodology. This means that the primary focus is on the subject who or what rather than how it is created. Typically, realist artists depict common people going about their ordinary lives, rather than
