High School Persuasive Essay
Writing a persuasive essay on the topic of "High School" can be both challenging and rewarding.
The difficulty lies not only in the need for extensive research to gather relevant information but
also in crafting a compelling argument that persuades the reader to adopt a particular point of
view. High school is a broad subject, encompassing various aspects such as academics, social
life, extracurricular activities, and more. Narrowing down the focus and choosing a specific
angle to explore within the confines of a persuasive essay can be a daunting task.
Additionally, addressing potential counterarguments, providing credible evidence, and
presenting a well-structured essay are crucial elements in making a persuasive case. Balancing the
emotional appeal with logical reasoning is another aspect that adds complexity to the writing
process. Striking the right tone and maintaining consistency throughout the essay requires a
nuanced understanding of the subject and a mastery of persuasive writing techniques.
Moreover, the challenge intensifies when considering the diverse perspectives and experiences of
high school students. Acknowledging these differences and incorporating them into the essay
without losing the overall coherence can be demanding. It is essential to consider the audience's
background and potential biases to tailor the persuasive techniques effectively.
In conclusion, crafting a persuasive essay on the topic of "High School" demands not only
writing skills but also a deep understanding of the subject matter and a keen awareness of the
audience. It requires time, effort, and attention to detail to create a compelling and convincing
argument that resonates with the readers.
For those who find this task overwhelming, it's worth noting that assistance is available. Various

Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner
Randall Jarrell put much thought into his poem, The Death of the Ball Turret
Gunner , but more specifically into the tone. Tone is the attitude an author has
towards his or her subject and it has the power to be bland, or have a true impact
on the literary work being presented. Jarrell effectively used imagery and diction to
create the attitude he wanted his readers to conclude in their own way. First, Jarrell
uses imagery abundantly throughout his lyrical poem. The character used in the
poem is compared to what we would believe to be an animal, with fur of some kind.
The comparison to an animal hunched over with frozen fur gives us, as readers, a
visualization of how small the Ball TurretGunner is and allows us to understand that
the men in these positions are nervous and in high altitudes, thus more than likely
frozen with sweat. Additionally, Jarrell specifically names six miles above the
earth which engages readers in knowing that this is not a little mission, as they are
miles above earth s surface. Also, the gory ending of washing the flesh out of the
turret with a hose enables readers to visualize how this situation typically pans out.
Simply due to the goriness of the situation, readers are likely to remember this than
if the process were to be sugar coated and made to be more pleasant. Imagery paints
this five line poem into a story board and gives the setting a whole new meaning.
Secondly, diction is a key aspect in this poem and is highly important due to its
Application Of A New Password Protected
A new password protected Training folder has been created on the root of drive R to
be used for all current training materials.
The password is Training. Please do not store anything in this folder until we have all
outdated training materials archived and files and folders re organized.
As we move, and delete files and folders, a TD Mirror folder of the TD folder has
been created as a backup. The TD Mirror folder will be deleted after the re
organization project is complete and The TD folder will be deleted after all files and
folders have been moved to their perspective housing area.
The original Archives folder has been moved (as is) from the TD sub folder in the
Human Resources folder on drive R to the Training folder at the root of R. There
are many versions and copies of the same course stored in the current Archive folder
making it challenging to determine which courses were actually in production (used
by the learners) and which were a work in progress or backups before the final
release. In other words, a course is not considered a version until it is released in
Production or to the public, anything before that time is considered a Work in
Progress. These two procedures seems to cause confusion. Consider the follow story:
A work team for a popular magazine company is tasked with producing a fun,
interesting, an exciting, spring issue. The team begins work drafting concepts and
ideas and then presents them to other team
Essay on The Dualism of Joe Christmas
William Faulkner s protagonist, Joe Christmas trajectory and immoral decisions
become the Siren s song that tip him over the stern of the boat that is his life.
Christmas path takes turns and twists that create a taciturn man who has been
brought into the world unwanted; then, he ruthlessly moves forward looking back
at his past in order to make decisions for his future. Light In August parallels Robert
Frost s The Road Not Taken , when Joe finds that he has reached a fork in the road
and has to plan for kind of life he wants to lead, contradicting factors jumble his
persona. This creates a dualism in Joe s soul, wherein two sides of a man challenge
him to try to make decisions for survival. Faulkner s novel sets up intriguing... Show

Milly maintained that she would be able to free herself and her child from her
father, yet her son s story begins with his struggle even with his first breath. When
Joe was born he was pure; a light from the heavens, but the transposition of his
persona becomes apparent as his life is abridged by the decisions he makes. Joe
hung a chair, his murder weapon, over his head. At that moment he lost all
innocence, The course destiny chooses is in a sense superfluous, for we are not
dealing with the kind of fatality which manifests itself in a dramatic progression of
events, from which we cannot add or subtract a single one without changing its
entire passage, for to do so would be like saying that someone has not fulfilled his
destiny. Pouillon tells of the belief that a man finds himself on a path and makes a
decision not in order to achieve his destiny or in a pre determined path, but instead
Joe bases his choices when they appear in front of him. He kills McEachern and after
has to think about his next move. Running away with bobby was no longer an option
after she rejected his marriage proposal. He moves towards the road much like in
Frost s poem: Then took the other, as just as fair, .............................................

Slave Narratives as a Literary Genre
Slave Narratives as a Literary Genre: Frederick Douglass Literature is an important
part of life for many people, and slave narratives are an important part of literature.
They have much to offer when it comes to what they can provide to others and what
they can teach them about an experience that is completely foreign to many people.
Finding sources on slave narratives is, fortunately, not that complex, because there
have been many written and they have stayed popular because they speak to people
in a way that fictionalized accounts of slaverydo not. If I were going to create a full
research paper on the general topic of Frederick Douglass and slave narratives as a
literary genre, seeking answers to an open, objective question such as how slave
narratives (and, specifically, Frederick Douglass) are used and understood in the
context of modern day relationships between whites and blacks, then the best serious
and authoritative sources I have been able to find to support such a hypothetical
research paper using the academic resources available to me as a college student
would be the following:
Asim, Jabari. (2003). African American literature in the black. 1 June 1997. The
Washington Post. Newspaper accounts such as this one show that black literature is
becoming more relevant to people today, and that it is being purchased at a strong
enough rate to create an income for the authors and the publishers. This is a
significant jump from where black literature was at the
Patriots Marching Band Case Study
1. Why do you want to be in a leadership position in the Patriots Marching Band?
I am a Patriot at heart and I want to do all I can to serve this band to the best of my
abilities.
2. What do you believe are your greatest leadership strengths and greatest leadership
challenges?
One leadership strengths I possess is that I am a very good public speaker and am
able to easily address a group of people whether it is a big or small one. I also believe
that I am quite approachable and friendly. One of my challenges would be trying to
show the band that I could be a fun, as well as effective and productive leader. Even
when I am feeling tired and slightly irritable, which I can be when tired, I will have
to work hard to keep a positive attitude and to not let the negative side show though
to the band. I am also not very good with names ... Show more content on

How would a member of Patriots marching band perceive your worthiness as a
section leader or commander candidate? Specifically in term of your leadership
qualities, commitment to band at your school, your history with Patriots and the
consistency of your attitude and efforts in all three areas?
First, being a five year veteran will certainly show people of my commitment and the
skills that I have more than likely picked up along the way. I have always tried to
support people in band where I can, especially new comers, and hope that many
people in the band program respect me as both a musician and a leader. I also make
an effort to be inclusive and get to know the various people in the program, for
respect is largely earned not gained. This year more than ever, being a senior, I have
pushed myself to lead by example and to be a positive force within the bands as well
a force that younger kids can look up to. I have always held pride in all of my bands
and I believe that many people know this. I by no means keep my musical passions a
secret, it is a large part of who I am, and every band I play in likewise plays a role in
Reflection On The Canadian Cancer Society s Relay For Life
I started volunteering for The Canadian Cancer Society s Relay For Life at my
elementary school in 2009. I have had the opportunity to help MC the Langley
Relay event as well as speak about my journey with the Canadian Cancer Society
and my family s struggles with cancer. I joined a team and continued to volunteer at
the event as a participant until I was approached by the Canadian CancerSociety s
Community Giving Coordinator in 2012 to start a Youth Committee for young
adults in the Langley School District. I was named chair in 2013, and have been in
charge of running the meetings, arranging presentations and contacting other
potential members; our goal for Langley is to have the largest youth component in
all of Western Canada. In 2014, I was the Captain of one of Brookswood
Secondary s five teams. For the past 2 years, I have been on Walnut Grove
Secondary s team and we have fundraised by selling tulips during lunch and after
school and selling Krispy Creme Doughnuts. In total, over my seven years of
participation alone, I have raised over $15,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. As a
committee, we travel around Langley... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has encouraged me to take leadership roles within my school, because Relay
has taught me that even small acts can make a significant difference. I am a
member of an anonymous Random Acts of Kindness Club at my school, which
reinforces the idea of small acts brightening people s day, and helping form a strong
community among my peers and adults in school. I was also elected Grad Council
President this year, and my role as chair on the Youth Committee prepared me for
this position. I am able to take skills I have learned about managing meetings, being
comfortable and confident in front of over 400 graduates, and appreciating and
understanding how much a solid team of members can really bring a community
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Proportional
Representation
Proportional representation system is a system in which the variety of seats held by
way of contributors of a political party in a legislature (such as a parliament) is
decided with the aid of the quantity of votes its candidates get hold of in an election.[

]With the proportional illustration system several participants of parliament are to be
elected per constituency. Basically each and every political party offers a listing of
candidates and voters can choose a list, that is they vote for a political party. Parties
are assigned parliamentary seats proportionally to the quantity of votes they get.[

Because PR structures reward minority events with a minority of the seats, they are
much less likely to lead to situations the place a single party holds all the seats in a

which may now not have huge regional concentrations or alternative factors of get
admission to power. The voters have the ability to rank candidates, the most disliked
candidate cannot win, as they are unlikely to pick up second , third and lower

]Lastly , Parliament is extra in all likelihood to be both reflective of a nation s
views and more responsive to them. Parties are huge coalitions, and can have a
markedly vast vary on a lot of issues. With solely one party character per
constituency, the representatives elected might also well now not replicate the views
of their electorate. Proportional representation system would help voters to choose a
candidate who most closely displays their very own views and values.

The Center For Disease Control And Prevention
Literature Review (The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015) points to
many sectors of society including families, communities, schools, medical care
providers, and the media as sources of influence on dietary and physical activity
behaviors. In today s society, we are seeing a trend of major influence coming from
many different types of media. An example of this is social media platforms like
Instagram and Facebook. Where people will post photos, usually with a filter to
show their target audience that they are happy with their life, and not showing their
real heartache. Another example of influence coming from media is from the

(Barge Schlueter, 2004, p. 237) describes memorable messages as embedded with
assumptions about who can speak, about what and when, through that medium,
and with what intent and these discourses structure a set of obligations and
opportunities for relationships and identities. Knapp states that memorable
messages have three different qualities that make a good memorable message. To
start, (Knapp et al., 1981) states that First, memorable messages often come from
someone who is older and of higher status, Most campaigns will use a
spokesperson who is well known to the public; an example of this is a celebrity
putting their name towards a cause. These spokespeople are often the campaign s
biggest supporters both financially and motivational. (Miles A, et. al., 2001)
describes that research into adult interventions shows that those who take part in
mass media health campaigns are women from higher socioeconomic groups who
are already engaging in better health practices. Second, memorable messages are
often brief oral injunctions that prescribe rules of conduct for solving a personal
problem, (Knapp et al., 1981). These would be more explicit directives, such as
Exercise more and You should eat smaller portions, such as. Also, we may expect
that parents messages will show their attitudes toward overweight and obesity that
imply a rule. For example, if a parent tells their child, Obese people
The Theory Of Leadership And Leadership
Introduction to the Topic Organizations of any nature will not subsist without some
level of leadership. This paper discusses the nature of leadership, which depends on
the effectiveness of a leader; the specific personality characteristics, physical, and
social traits that set leaders apart from followers; and the characteristic of a servant
leader. It also gives insight to biblical integration of the concepts and the strategies for
implementing the concepts within the organization.
Group Consensus
TheNature of Leadership Leadership is in an echelon above management in that there
is almost an aura about a leader that compels followers to want the same things
they want, as opposed to managers which get their followers to do what they want
(Marker, 2010). Therefore, managers tend to utilize power, whereas leaders can be
influential. Good leaders also have a vision both a company vision and a personal
vision, in which is instilled into followers. An effective leader will also have an
understanding of ethical issues, who and what ethical decisions affect, and how
issues should be handled. John Ferrell and John Fraedrich (2014) suggest that
headstrong leaders know that ethics contribute to employee commitment, investor
loyalty, and customer satisfaction (p. 16 17). Knowledge of these relationships aid
leaders in being well round and make leaders aware of the consequences of the
actions taken decisions that are made.

changes throughout the story. Now let s begin.
Dr. Jeykll, Mr. Hyde, Dr. Lanyon, and Mr. Utterson are the main characters in the
story. Other characters include Poole, Jeykll s butler, Mr. Enfield, Mr. Utterson s

in 1894 at an early age of forty four in the Island of Samoa.
Throughout the story, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, I have learned

everyone has a bad side. I have also learned that the world can contain much evil.
The book The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, has taught me many different

How Do The Laws That Affect The Hiring Process
There are a number of laws that will affect your hiring process, particularly in the
area of discrimination. The civil right act of 1964, Prohibits discrimination in
employment practices when the discrimination is based on a person s race, color,
sex, religion or national origin. The federal law applies to organizations with 15 or
more employees (Gusdorf, 2008). The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of
1990 prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities in
organizations of 15 or more employees. The ADA also requires, That the employer

Modern Recruiting Methods, 2016). In addition to traditional home delivery
papers, most media companies now operate online sites. Also there are postings at
the local employment office. The local unemployment office will always be filled
with people looking for work, Usually operating an extensive candidate database,
financial hiring support programs, and supplementary training for struggling
applicants, the employment office is a great place to affordably find many types
of employees, very quickly (Traditional Recruiting Methods vs. Modern Recruiting
Methods, 2016). Using Temp Agencies are another type of traditional recruiting
method. Temporary employment agencies are quite common, and are rarely their
employees only source of income for extended periods of time. When employers
aren t confident what the right applicant for the job will look like, or are only in
need of short term project help, these are a great way to go. Hiring internally, is a
time tested way to ensure you have the right person for the job, and is also probably
one of the easiest. Making a decision can be difficult, and hiring internally can cause
problems, but the savings in recruiting and training costs can be significant. Modern
recruiting methods in the world is growing and changing, and so is the world of
recruiting. Technology has changed the way people do things, like the internet and
smartphones have made information available at anytime and anywhere, it is also

In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, the main character Guy Montag can
be described as being on a journey. Throughout the whole story he drastically
changes both mentally and physically. Montag lives in a corrupt society, where
they believe in suppressing knowledge. In the novel, Guy is breaking away from
the popular views, and forming his own opinions on the government. In his
journey to his true self he hits many major milestones and realizations. A few are 1.
He is not happy in his current life, and feels the need to explore and learn about
other rebels like him. 2. Montag steals a book, which were banned at the time 3. He

This is such a big milestone because it was the first root, the first rebel thought that
would eventually bring him down a path in which he could never return from.
After Montag had been self reflecting he came to a conclusion that he needed to
steal a book. His outlook on life had changed and he wanted to see what he had
been missing all of the years he was a firefighter. He wanted to find out why books
were banned, and what they hid beneath top secret covers. At this major point in
the story Montag is burning a house down that was said to have books hidden
inside. Although he had been burning houses for years, and he was supposed to go
about it normally, he was appalled. Seeing his job in the light made him feel
shocked and and disgusted by the people he used to call his friends. He takes it
upon himself to steal a book from the house and bring it home with him. Montag
felt the hidden book pound like a heart against his chest. Go on. Said the woman,
and Montag felt himself back away and out the door, after Beatty, down the steps,
across the lawn, where the path of kerosene lay like the track of some evil snail.
This quote proves that this is a big milestone in the story. It shows that Montag is
actually going through with stealing a book. He believes in knowledge enough so
much that he will break a law to expose the government. Montag is now determined
and has his mind set. This is a big
Cosmetic Surgery Of Breast Augmentation
Breast Augmentation
Today, more and more women think about cosmetic surgery to make their bodies
look perfect. The most popular kind of plastic surgery is breast augmentation. Some
women want to enlarge their breasts; the others wish to correct their sagging bust,
and they go to a surgeon and ask him or her to change their body. A short term effect
of such operation is full satisfaction with the new appearance and improvement of
sexual life. Women often feel excited and think that their life will change for the best.
However, such feelings are often temporarily, and they may develop into something
worse. Therefore, there is another side of breast augmentation, which is less pleasant
than the previous one. Such long term effects as depression, pain, discomfort, various
infections as well as suicide are experienced by many women who underwent a
plastic surgery. Consequently, the theme of breast augmentation is important since it
relates to thousands of women who hesitate whether to change their breasts or not,
especially those women who have already made an operation. Although breast
augmentation helps women become more self confident in their beauty, this type of
cosmetic surgery has also many negative effects such as unwillingness to breastfeed,
different health problems, and even suicide.
The first attempts of breast augmentation appeared in 1895 when a lipoma was
transferred to the breast (Ramachandran). After that, some injections were tried; and
only in 1962, the modern

for individuals with dementia consisting of three sessions showing no significant

findings should be viewed with caution due to the wide variety of studies included in
the analysis and limited rigor in the approach (2014). Because the complexity and

About Impetigo
Overview Impetigo is a bacterial skin infection characterized by the eruptions of
superficial pustules and formation of thick yellow crusty sores. It is highly
contagious and can occur anywhere on the body, especially in exposed areas. The
two different types of Impetigo are Bullous Impetigo, which are large blisters, and
Non Bullous Impetigo, which are crusted over blisters. Non Bullous Impetigo is the
most common type. Both types require contact precautions because they can be
transmitted via physical contact with anyone who has it, sharing the same clothes,
bedding, towels, etc... Because of the way young children proceed with their

If the infection spreads, or if the topical ointment is unable to fight off the bacteria by
itself, the doctor may prescribe an additional oral antibiotic in a liquid or pill form.
These oral antibiotics are usually taken within a range of seven to ten days. It is
encouraged to continue to take the medicine until the prescription has run out unless
a doctor has advised to do otherwise. (Nemours, 1995 2011)
Once the patient has begun to take the antibiotic, the results of healing should be
visibly noticeable within just a few days. The most crucial part of the prognosis
stage of Impetigo is actually taking the medicine. If left untreated or if antibiotics
are abused, a deeper and even more serious skin infection could breakout. It is
recommended to wash the infected areas with clean gauze and antiseptic soap
every day, more than once if possible. Also, soaking any areas crusted over in warm
soapy water has proven to help decrease the amount of crust surrounding the area.
However, it is not necessary to remove all crusting. Another recommendation to
prevent from spreading Impetigo is to cover the affected area with a sterile gauze and
tape or a loose bandage to avoid scratching. (Nemours, 1995 2011)
Good hygiene practices are also promoted to help prevent Impetigo. Steps as simple
as washing hands and showering regularly can terminate the chances of coming

Most people normally bring about personal qualities when they think for the main
components of success. However, Malcolm Gladwell, a famous writer, contradicts the
assumption of people through the book, Outliers. Gladwell insists that extrinsic
factors define success rather than the personal qualities. Nonetheless, Gladwell
himself goes against the topic of Outliers in his assertion about hard working if you

shape the world to your desires . Although people should work hard to seize the
opportunity for success, success actually came from extrinsic factors because
opportunity of relative age gives physical and emotional advantages through
appropriate timing for birth, opportunity to raise under the concerted cultivation

practice guarantees time to achieve success at every field.

To begin with, 10,000 hours of practice is known as the minimal time to become a
master in their own field. It s important to have 10,000 hours of practice, but most
of people can t fulfill 10,000 hours of practice because they do not have an
opportunity to get 10,000 hours. In the case of Outliers, Gladwell exemplifies
Beatles to show the opportunity to get 10,000 hours of practice. Beatles could fulfill
10,000 hours of practice in Hamburg for an opportunity to perform for 270 nights in
just over a year and a half. Consequently, the Beatles became outliers in their music.
The lesson from Beatles is that people should seize an opportunity to practice 10,000
hours at their field. Otherwise, the success doesn t approach to individuals. Therefore,
the opportunity to fulfill 10,000 hours of practice challenges Gladwell s suggestion of

No one envisions themselves not making an impact in the future. Everyone wants to

Attending a higher educationinstitution is not for everyone, and it s not the only path

College expands the mind and allows one to view things from a different point. The

such as time management and learning how to communicate with people are apart of

Through the course of college, one s values, integrity, and ethical standards are

Briefly, in my opinion, i believe attending college is important because it develops

Skiing Vs Copper Mountain Essay
Who doesn t like skiing? I love the feeling of gliding down a trail, feeling the cool
breeze in my face. The feeling is exhilarating Throughout my years of skiing, I have
been to many mountains in the northeast of the United States. None, however, quite
compares to Copper Mountain. Colorado snow, in my opinion, is the best snowin
America.
Located 50 miles outside of Denver, Copper Mountain has 2,500 acres of skiable
terrain. With over 140 outstanding trails, ranging from novice to double black
diamond. Every winter the conditions vary but are always great for skiing. A whole
family can ski there on trails with diverse difficulties. Little kids can learn to ski with
instructors while the rest of the family skis the difficult trails.

6.4.2. Facilitate internal leaning events and workshops, delivering content as

A major part of my role is the development and delivery of training materials. This

In a global organisation with a range of different needs and cultural approaches,
flexibility from the trainer is imperative, as is the need to change and adapt where

Similarities Between Judith And Her Maidservant
The painting Judith and Her Maidservant with the head of Holofernes was painted by
the Italian born painter Artemisia Gentileschi. In this Baroque painting, it depicts a
story from the bible about Judith, a widow, tricking an opposing leader, Holofernes,
during a war. Judith and her maidservant enter Holofernestent and have rounds of
drinks. Over time, Holofernes becomes quite drunk and passes out. While he is
passed out, Judith and her maidservant decapitates Holofernes thus defeating the
opposing soldiers in the war. In the painting, it depicts specifically moments after
Holofernes head was fully decapitated and Judith attempting to hide what she just did.

The skin of the women fold nicely, for example around Judith s face and neck, the
folds are rounded and proportionate to her body and face. The folds of the tent s
cloth and the clothes around the bodies of the women are absolutely realistic,
wrapping eloquently around their bodies, arms, and waists. For example, on the
maidservants arm her sleeves not only appropriately look rolled up but they also
atomically match the maidservant s arm. However, I feel like the realism is lost
when it comes to the candle and Judith s sword. They look quite dull compared to the
human figures and cloth in the painting, making them look very simplistic. The light
used in the painting is done very well, showing that there can only be so much light
coming from one candle, which makes the lighting very natural. In my opinion, the
light represents the pure and misogynistic views towards women. These views see
women as people that can t do wrong, seeing women only as kind or maternal beings.
The dim or unlit parts of the painting, specifically the maidservant hiding Holofernes
head, represents the potential of

LABOUR MARKET DYNAMICS, UNEMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC
GROWTH IN GHANA INTRODUCTION Owing to a GDP rebasing in 2011,
Ghana became the fastest growing economy in the world with a GDP growth
pinned at 20%, the largest per capita income in West Africa and the 21st in the
continent. Ghana joined the league of oil producing countries in December 2010
with 85,000 barrels of crude oil in a day . Fiscal deficit fell from 5.9% of GDP in
2010 to an estimated 4.3% in 2011 due to strong revenue performance . Despite an
impressive increase in economic growth rate over the years, the Ghanaian
economy is still characterized by low employment rate and low labour
productivity rate as against the relatively increasing growth rate of population.
Unemployment rate in Ghana has varied over the years averaging 8.82% from
2001 until 2013. It reached an all time high of 12.90% in 2005 and a record low of
5.20% in 2013 . Ghana s unemployment rate is 25.6% for the younger age group
between 15 and 24 years twice that of the 25 44 age group and three time that of the
45 64 age group . This is a perfect indication that recent gains in Ghana s economy
growth have not translated adequately into job opportunities, especially in the formal
sector. Unemployment is a phenomenon that occurs when a person who is actively
searching for employment is unable to work . The most common measure of
unemployment is the unemployment rate. Method of calculating and presenting
unemployment rate differs from one country to
The Theme Of Mistaken Identity In Fantomina And A Tale
Of...
In the books Fantomina and A Tale of Two Cities, the theme of mistaken identity is
very prominent. In Fantomina, the main character, the author does not provide her
real name to the readers, changes her identity multiple times throughout the story. In
A Tale of Two Cities, two of the main characters, Charles Darnay and Sydney Carton,
look very similar, therefore, throughout the story they are mistaken for each other
multiple times. Both of these novels showcase the theme of mistaken identity and
disguise as well as the different consequences the characters get in the different texts.
In Fantomina, the author allows the theme of mistaken identity to be seen through
the protagonists many different identities. The first identity the main charactertakes on
is Fantomina, the prostitute. Now this identity not only changed her physical
identity but it also changed her moral identity. When meeting Beauplaisir,
Fantomina depended on the Strength of her Virtue, to bear her safe thro Tryals
more dangerous than she apprehended this to be, and never having been address d
by him as Lady, was resolv d to receive his Devoirs as a Town Mistress, imagining a
world of Satisfaction to herself in engaging him in the Character of such a one,
and in observing the Surprise he would be in to find himself refused by a Woman,
who he supposed granted her Favours without Exception (Haywood 44). Before
she met Beauplaisir she was determined to keep her virtue, as can be seen in the
quote. Although, as she took upon the role of Fantomina, she did not uphold her
morals. Evidently, her taking on the role of being a prostitute was not the best idea
if she wanted to keep her virtue, but nevertheless, she did it anyway just to get the
man she wanted. Her losing her virtue shows that by taking on her identity as
Fantomina, her moral identity was altered. The case of mistaken identity can be seen
in a physical aspect in A Tale of Two Cities
. In this novel, the two characters Sydney
Carton and Charles Darnay have uncanny similarities. The two characters could not
be any less similar personality wise but the resemblance from the outside is
incredible. Many people noticed the similarities between them, especially when they
were in the same

Miss Alvarez was seen exiting the driver side of the car as she walked in a normal

Theme Of Oedipus Complex By Paul Morel
Since the day of publication, it has been a tendency to approach Sons and Lovers
(1913)primarily as the story of a victim of Oedipus Complex . The hero, Paul
Morel, is very often looked upon, as the title suggests, merely as a son; not as a
normal human being. Whatever problems crop up in the life of Paul Morel has
been addressed as the reason of his mother fixation . Whenever someone strives to
examine the character or personae of Paul Morel, the Oedipus complex looms large
and everything else, if there is any, fades away. Because of this one dimensional
attitude, it is scarcely kept in mind that Paul Morel, besides his mother fixation , does
posses another identity no less important than his identity of a son; the identity that

Reclining Mouflon Analysis
Once humans entered the agrarian age, they began to create more than just tools for
survival. Previously, humans had hunted for their food, taking down gigantic beasts
with sharpened stones. Upon discovering they could grow and harvest food, these
peoples shifted from a nomadic lifestyle to a settled one. Due to this change, human
tribes were able to advance into a civilization. These people then had the leisure to
think, create and imagine, and one of the many culminations from this new era was
art.
One such work would be the Reclining Mouflon originating from the Mature
Harappan period in the Indus River Valley a time in which the crops such as wheat
and barley were introduced. The Reclining Mouflon sculpture, carved out of marble,
is 28 cm long. Instead of the portable figurines and statuettes created from earlier
ages, the Reclining Mouflon is a much larger in comparison. This evidence shows
that the sculptor took a fair amount of time to craft this work, yet still made it a

Reclining Mouflon doesn t reveal as much in regards to its purpose. Though it does

simply be to show a shift in lifestyle. Nonetheless, both works represent the
advancement of technology resulting from the agrarian age. Although these pieces
are artifacts from society with religious functions and other such things, they also

Biblical Allusions In Heart Of Darkness
There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it
(Wharton). This quote by Edith Wharton presents how to spread light in the darkest
of darkness just as the Congo was back in the 1888 when King Leopold brought the
horror to the natives of the Congo. In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darknessshows how
man can be a light even in the darkest of darkness even though it may look
impossible. Marlow, the narrator of the novel, tells of his story about he tries to be a
light in the darkness, referring to the Congo. The theme of people being a light in
darkness is displayed in Heart Of Darkness through the literary elements of
symbolism, characterization, and Biblical allusions.

With this in mind, Conrad shows biblical allusions by describing the people of the
inner station as a whited sepulcher (Conrad 12). Even though a whited sepulcher is
a negative term, from the view of the white men at the Congo, they are being a
light by civilizing the natives through pain. A whited sepulcher is outwardly
appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people s bones and all uncleanness
(Matthew 23:27). The outward appearance of the people who ran the Congo were
viewed doing good from people outside of the Congo which is the way how people
saw it as being a light in the lives of those who were walking in the dark. Not to
mention, faith brings light in darkness just as Jesus brought light into the world,
which the world was dark. Throughout the novel, it shows the symbolism of how
light is affected by darkness, which drives out darkness. For example, when
Marlow s aunt claims that her nephew is going to bring the faith , or in other
words, civilize which in Marlow s view is to educate the natives as he was suppose
to do (Conrad 10). In all, through biblical allusions, Conrad displays the theme of
people being a light in the darkness from the views of the white people at the

Comparing Herodotus And De Vaca s Writing Styles
A Comparison of Styles
Herodotus versus de Vaca Throughout the course of the world, there have been many
great civilizations that have risen and fallen from power. Many of these civilizations
are remembered not only through the texts or works that they themselves produced,
but through the writings of later historians. Herodotus was an example of a later
historian, because he wrote about a civilization of old, de Vaca was a historian of
the moment because he covered a civilization as he experienced it. The contrast in
the two styles is plainly evident for the most part in the two literary pieces.
Herodotus has a very distinct style compared to de Vaca and as de Vaca s works
came later it can be assumed that he was partially influenced by Herodotus. The
three main areas that Herodotus and de Vaca s works differ are the time period in
which they wrote their pieces, how they regarded their subject matter, and who they
were writing about. As before mentioned, one of the biggest differences between
Herodotus and de Vaca is the time period in which they wrote their pieces. Herodotus
was a later historian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Herodotus was writing his passage mainly on the Egyptian people, but he did have
references to his native people the Greeks. De Vaca mainly covered the Avavares, a
tribe in modern day Texas who existed from 1527 1534 according to most
historians. The Avavares were short lived as they were often conquered by more
powerful tribes in their area, where the Egyptians were the ones who were often
doing the conquering in the Middle East. The two subjects themselves could not be
more different as the Egyptians owned slaves and the Avavares ended up as slaves.
Because of this discrepancy, there can be no mistaking who is who in the two
passages. Herodotus and de Vaca come from similar backgrounds, but the
backgrounds of their two chosen subjects could not be any more
The Pros and Cons of Technology Essay
People very often debate whether technology is good or bad. Many people believe
that technology can only cause harm to their lives and society, while many others
strongly defend the technologies which have made their lives much more leisurely
and enriching than it could have been several hundred years ago. In my opinion,
both of these views are correct to an extent, but I also believe that what should be
examined is not whether technology in its self is good or bad, but rather how we as
humans use it.For decadesnow, television has been accusedof contributing to the
dissolution of the American family and the destruction of the minds of those who
watch it. However, although the TV has been involved in this, the problem roots not

Refrigerators, gas and electric ovens, microwaves, vacuums, dishwashers....the list
goes on and on. All these things have made housework tremendously easier than it
would have been about 100 years ago.
This results with both positive and negative effects. It has given us easier ways to get
jobs done, leaving more time for other things, but the bad part of this is what is
chosen to do in this extra time. In many cases, this extra time is spent doing
leisurely things, which might make us more happy, but also has an effect on our
health. Lately we have become aware of the dangers of heart disease and the health
benefits of exercise....the exercise we would have gotten 100 years ago just from
doing our daily chores but now aren t getting enough of because we don t have to
work as hard to do those same chores.
This can be blamed on technology, but again, in fact it is our own fault because we
chose to use the technology and spend the extra time lazing around. Now,
something that really bothers me about technology is what is made out of it. I
often question why people spend so much time and money trying to come up with
so many useless things when we have global warming problems and starving
children working in shoe factories. For example, scientists spent years to make a
clone of a sheep. Now let me ask you, is their any practical use in knowing how to
clone a sheep?
Many people think that eventually this scientific advancement will lead into

the feeling of warmth and laughter. The symphony made me to realize how each

delightful to listen to. Also, It s amazing how different the symphony and opera act

the combination of voice and strings as well as the unstructured nature and freedom

The Media s Influence On Women
Throughout the course of history, pregnancy has been acknowledged through
different societal views. In America, famous, wealthy women exposed their
pregnancy to the whole world. Most celebrities do this through the use of media. The
way media revealed child bearing is through nude photos of pregnant celebrities:
mothers covering their breasts with one hand, while placing, or holding their baby
bump with their other hand. Although many portrayed this act as innocent and
beautiful, others claim it is immoral and wrong, believing women should reveal their
pregnancywith respect to their bodies. In addition, it is evident that only a certain
class, and race are exposed, which created controversy with media representation. The
first issue of nudity sparked other magazines to issue women and their naked bodies.
Authors of many articles compare media representations with societal views, while
voicing their opinions on the inequality or representation of women in media.
Throughout the years, the media has made it evident that women are a true gift to
society. They did this through the use of photography; capturing mothers baby bumps
and exposing their beauty to the whole world. Before the nineteenth century,
pregnancies were not publicized as mothers exposing their nude bodies. Instead,
keeping their pregnancies hidden from the tabloids allowed women to maintain their
bodies private as if the body was a treasure. This enabled women to not look sexual
or promiscuous in society

have continued success. The case study did not seem to mention competition but the
company has a niche which limits the competition they will face. Finding an unfilled
need is the key to reducing or eliminating competition. Therefore, I do not foresee
competitors creating a major problem for Sigma as they are the founders for what
they do and continue to raise the bar in order to stay relevant.

The most important strategic initiatives for Sigma are personnel strategies,
succession plans and sustainability. Making sure that Sigma personnel continues to be
well educated and skilled will help to determine whether the company continues to
grow or starts to decline in the long term. Succession of leadership goes along with
the strength of the personnel. Once Mike retires, there will need to be a smooth
transition of leadership. This transition will affect the entire company from the vision
to client relations. If done properly there will only be minimal adjustments and
continued growth of the company. Otherwise this transition can be the company s
downfall. Sustainability is another vital issue. With many companies going green
trying to reduce their carbon footprint, Sigma must continue to find ways to reduce
theirs also. Companies with these environmental
Personal Education Philosophy
The purpose of this paper is to identify my personal educational philosophy. Every
student is unique in their own way, and should be given an opportunity to learn in an
environment that fosters mental, emotional, social, and physical development. It is
my duty as a health and physical educator to provide an environment conducive to
learningthat is relevant, engaging, and a challenging experience for all my students
despite their physical abilities. A monist views the mind and body as one. As the
book states, physical activity is equally as important as intellectual activity pertaining
to the mind and body relationship (Wuest Fisette, 2012).The purpose of physical
educationis to teach the whole student, not just their body. It is my belief that we
learn from our personal experiences. I am firm believer in John Dewey s approach
that we learn by doing . Therefore, after reading the text my professional philosophy
derives from the pragmatic and humanistic philosophies. Pragmatism: According to
the text, a pragmatist believes that experiences not ideals or realities are the basis of
the truth (Wuest Fisette, 2012). Throughout my life, I have always had someone
verbally tell me how to solve a problem, or perform a skill. I never completely grasp

For example, giving the same dribbling assessment to a student in a wheelchair and
varsity basketball player sounds petrifying. I prefer to set my students up for
success by giving that student in the wheelchair different equipment with attainable
goals so he or she will have a positive mindset for physical education. I like to give
my students choices in what activities we do in class so they can take ownership of
their learning. We all have standards to teach our students, but by allowing the
students a voice in what they learn could be the difference in motivation for learning

The Fiction Genre And Will Cover Key Stage 2 And The...
The texts to be examined in this assignment are all from the Fantasy Fiction Genre
and will cover Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 as these are both relevant to those
covered within lectures. We will begin with Key Stage 2 and The Hobbit by J.R.R
Tolkien looking for examples as to why this would be considered Key Stage Two.
The same process will be followed with The Silmarillionby the same author for Key
Stage 3. Once the key stages have been confirmed for each piece of literature we can
then begin to compare the texts and determine what elements of each make them
unsuitable for classification into alternative key stages. The results of such a
comparison may show some unexpected and interesting results when taking the series
as a whole and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is now listed as Key Stage 2 and for the purposes of this assignment we shall be
examining the piece with this level in mind. It is essentially a simple story of a
Hobbit who reluctantly undertakes a great adventure with a band of dwarves and
a wizard to assist in the regaining of treasure lost to a dragon in times gone by.
However, the trials faced during this journey and it s descriptive manner mean that
the book is far from simple at times and it would be fair to assume that this would
place it at the higher end of Key Stage 2 readership, perhaps aged 10 to 11 as it is
commonly accepted that children read books typically written approximately 2
years older than their own age. Using Christopher Booker s theory of The Seven
Basic Plots and taking each of the seven individually we see many examples of
Overcoming the monster including The Call and Initial success with lines such as
Bilbo Baggins was standing at his door after breakfast...Gandalf came by...Tales and
adventures sprouted up all over the place wherever he went (Tolkien, 1937, pp. 15)

reason he was hired to be a part of
Analysis Of The Second Sex By Simone Beauvoir
Another thing that womanhood or motherhood encapsulates in this novel is the
choice to choose between staying in a polygamous marriage or walk out, without
being seen as weak or revolting. Ramatoulaye is portrayed as an example of
individual identity and choice. She chooses to marry Modou against her family s
wishes (Letter 16); And when confronted with the same dilemma as her friend
Aissatou a polygamous husband, she chooses a different path she looks inward, cut
her loses and makes the decision that seem unreasonable to others even her children.
She knows that after thirty years of marriageand twelve children, putting herself on
the dating scene would be a waste of time. She knows according to the womanin

looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes took in the mirror s eloquence. I had lost
my slim figure, as well as ease and quickness of movement...I could not delude
myself: youth was deserting my body (Letter 41). I see the internalized patriarchal
value that a woman needs a man to survive in this portion of the letter. If remarriage
is not the priority of an abandoned woman, the society has no right to force her to, or
berates her for choosing to stay single.

Middle Ages Dbq Questions And Answers
Middle Ages DBQ Imagine a world where people were forced to work the land for
very little food and had to pay high taxes. This is what life was like for the peasants,
or serfs, in Europe during the Middle Ages. From 500 to 1500 AD, life in Europe
was organized into a categorized system. The Middle Ages lasted from 476 CE to the
14th Century(OI)
During the Middle Ages, Europeans social, economic and political life was defined
by feudalism. Social life in the Middle Ages was heavily influenced by the feudal
system. The King was at the top of the society then the nobles, knights, and
peasants/serfs. The King, nobles, and knights talk to each other the serfs/peasants
are all by themselves (Doc. 1). If you were born as a serf, you would be a serf for
the rest of your life. The kings controlled the land. The nobles were the assistants for
the kings. The knights protected the nobles and the kings, and the serfs were farmers
(Doc. 1). Another influence on the social lives of people was the Church. In a time of
great political chaos, the Roman Catholic Church was the single, largest unifying
structure in medieval Europe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, political leaders only had local power, the Church was the most
powerful institution. Also, two parts of the Code of Chivalry really talked about the
Church. They were, Thou Shalt believe all that the Church teaches, and shalt observe
all its directions and Thou Shalt defend the Church (Doc. 5). In other words, people
valued the Church s teachings and directions, so they had to protect it with all they
had. This proves that the Church was important to all the people, the peasants, the
kings, the nobles and the knights. Furthermore, the Church became very powerful,
and it often used this power to influence the kings to do as it wanted (Doc. 3). In
summary, the Church had even more power than the kings. As you can see the
Church had the most political

the marketing operations of the Mountain Man Beer Company. This is a family
owned business that he s going to take a hand on in 5 years.
Mountain Man brews just one beer which is Mountain Man Lager, also known as
West Virginia s beerand popular among blue collar workers. Mountain Man Lager
is a beer known for its authenticity, quality and toughness. It had a distinctive bitter

What about these factors enabled MMBC to create such a strong BRAND?
Mountain Man Beer Company is brand with concept of high alcohol content, strong
and masculine beer for blue collar workers.
Brand equity created by values brought by producer and going from customer.
Key factors for Brand equity: * Value (beer for blue collar workers) * Brand Strength
(associations and attitudes of the consumers) * Brand Description (strong taste, high
alcohol content)
What has caused MMBCs decline in spite of its strong brand?
Youngsters usually prefer light beer that has more soft taste and less alcohol content.
From Exhibit 3 we may observe beer market share in East Central Region.
Obviously, light beers such as Anheuser Busch or Miller takes first places when 2nd
tier Premium amp; Popular Brewers following 4th after light beers.
Exhibit 5 shows us consumption by Type of Beer and Origin. Changes in beer
drinkers preferences were a mean reason of declining sales. Light beer sales were
growing at an annual rate of 4% per year, while traditional premium beer sales have
declined annually by the same percentage. The light beers had already risen to
50.4% of total beer sales. The demand for import and craft beer was increasing.
Heavy discounting on beer had caused larger beer producers to put pressure on
smaller ones. Younger drinkers who were not main Mountain Man customers
represented only 27% beer sales.

Bety Johnson Research Paper
Betsey Johnson is an American designer from Terryville, Connecticut. She designs
off beat, alternative style clothing that has throughout the world become famous
and well known. Her style consists of bright, neon colors, low cuts, short hemlines,
and a flair for the unusual. Celebrities such as Hayley Williams, Miley Cyrus, and
Cassadee Pope wear her line. Johnson has been in the fashion industry since the
1960 s, and at age 72 she has yet to slow down, and shows no signs of stopping
anytime soon. Johnson was born in the town of Wethersfield Connecticut on August
10th, 1942 and was raised in Terryville Connecticut. She was in dance for her
younger years, and she loved her recital costumes. In fact, she spent a lot of her free
time designing new costumes for herself. She loved designing them, and finally came
to the realization that designing and creating clothing completes what a drawing can t

In 1965, she changed jobs and moved to Paraphernalia in New York to be a
designer for them. Working at Paraphernalia is where she created her alternative,
whimsical, slightly hippie esque style. Five years later, she took creative control
of Alley Cat, where she stayed until they went out of business in the mid 70 s.The
70 s were a tough decade for Johnson, as her youthful demographic grew up and
stopped buying her designs. When Alley Cat went out of business she kept money
coming in by doing freelance design work in children s and maternity clothing. In
1971 she was the youngest designer (age 29) to win the Coty Fashion Critics
Award for her work at Alley Cat. It wasn t until 1978 that she felt like she could
come back with the revival of punk. It felt like a reincarnation of the 60s.It felt the
same as when I was 22. She worked with famous artist Andy Warhol and fellow
designer Mary Quant to pioneer the Youthquake movement
Taking a Look at the Quercus Alba
The Quercus Alba or commonly known as the white oak tree is a hardwood tree
that is found in many areas around North America. The wood from this tree has
been a very good building material and is used in projects from house building to
small wood carpentry projects. Quercus Alba is a very tall tree that extends outward
at the top making a very large canopy. Unlike its common name the white oakdoes not
have whit bark. Its natural region extends from the eastern coast over the
Appalachian Mountains and into the eastern part of Kansas. White oak trees can
reach heights upward of sixty five to eighty five feet and the tallest was one
hundred and forty four feet. As the trees get taller their canopy extends out farther
and many branches at the bottom of the tree are run horizontally to the ground.
The base of the tree grows to a large diameter which makes a great base for the
large tree. The tree is a very sturdy hardwood tree that makes great building
material. Quercus Alba has a closed cell structure making it hard for water to get
in. It has a natural resistance to water and it will not rot. This great quality of the
Quercus Alba makes it an ideal building material for many large construction
projects. Before ships were built out of metal early carpenters and ship craftsmen
would build ships out of white oak. Many large construction projects are built with
white oak. Homes are commonly framed with white oak wood and the interior of
some houses are done with white oak.
Traveling Through The Dark Rhyme Scheme
Traveling through the Dark by William E. Stafford
In the poem Traveling through the Dark by William E. Stafford, there is a individual
that had been peacefully traveling alongside a mountainside road, and he spots a
dead female deer that had been recently killed. Upon closer inspection of the deer, it
appeared that she was pregnant with a fawn that was never to be born. This gave
the speaker a sense of hesitation, while he attempted to come up with a plan that
would address the carcass lying in the middle of the road. The sheer rush of
adrenaline that the speaker had faced, as the wilderness watched his every move. The
wilderness in this story, had held the title as the natural world, everything that has
ever existed, and anything that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right off the bat, we can tell that this poem is based on the free verse type of poetry,
as it doesn t have any particular rhyming scheme. It only occasionally contained half
rhymes, such as the words road and dead . Stafford was known for not having a rhyme
scheme in his poems, although occasionally in a few of his poems, he would like
to include it. Seeing as though there was no regular rhyme scheme, we are also
able to tell that the poem does in fact have a irregular meter, meaning there is little
to no rhyme between the lines. Now we venture off into diction, which stands for
the choice of words while writing to convey a typical mood. While reading the
poem, we can see the speaker trying to paint a picture of a gloomy night. He
demonstrates this by saying: traveling through the dark , that road is narrow; to
swerve might make more dead and finally, then pushed her over the edge into the
river. Stafford wanted to make us feel the same stress the speaker was in at the
time, by painting this picture, so we the readers can envision what is actually
happening. If we move on to imagery, we can see that when the speaker states that
the doe was large in the belly, inferring that there is a unborn fawn in the deer. This
was an example of fine imagery, to which the speaker wanted to demonstrate a vivid
idea

  • 1. High School Persuasive Essay Writing a persuasive essay on the topic of "High School" can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies not only in the need for extensive research to gather relevant information but also in crafting a compelling argument that persuades the reader to adopt a particular point of view. High school is a broad subject, encompassing various aspects such as academics, social life, extracurricular activities, and more. Narrowing down the focus and choosing a specific angle to explore within the confines of a persuasive essay can be a daunting task. Additionally, addressing potential counterarguments, providing credible evidence, and presenting a well-structured essay are crucial elements in making a persuasive case. Balancing the emotional appeal with logical reasoning is another aspect that adds complexity to the writing process. Striking the right tone and maintaining consistency throughout the essay requires a nuanced understanding of the subject and a mastery of persuasive writing techniques. Moreover, the challenge intensifies when considering the diverse perspectives and experiences of high school students. • 2. Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner Randall Jarrell put much thought into his poem, The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner , but more specifically into the tone. Tone is the attitude an author has towards his or her subject and it has the power to be bland, or have a true impact on the literary work being presented. Jarrell effectively used imagery and diction to create the attitude he wanted his readers to conclude in their own way. First, Jarrell uses imagery abundantly throughout his lyrical poem. The character used in the poem is compared to what we would believe to be an animal, with fur of some kind. The comparison to an animal hunched over with frozen fur gives us, as readers, a visualization of how small the Ball TurretGunner is and allows us to understand that the men in these positions are nervous and in high altitudes, thus more than likely frozen with sweat. Additionally, Jarrell specifically names six miles above the earth which engages readers in knowing that this is not a little mission, as they are miles above earth s surface. Also, the gory ending of washing the flesh out of the turret with a hose enables readers to visualize how this situation typically pans out. Simply due to the goriness of the situation, readers are likely to remember this than if the process were to be sugar coated and made to be more pleasant. Imagery paints this five line poem into a story board and gives the setting a whole new meaning. Secondly, diction is a key aspect in this poem and is highly important due to its

The password is Training. Please do not store anything in this folder until we have all outdated training materials archived and files and folders re organized. As we move, and delete files and folders, a TD Mirror folder of the TD folder has been created as a backup. The TD Mirror folder will be deleted after the re organization project is complete and The TD folder will be deleted after all files and folders have been moved to their perspective housing area. The original Archives folder has been moved (as is) from the TD sub folder in the Human Resources folder on drive R to the Training folder at the root of R. There are many versions and copies of the same course stored in the current Archive folder making it challenging to determine which courses were actually in production (used by the learners) and which were a work in progress or backups before the final release. In other words, a course is not considered a version until it is released in Production or to the public, anything before that time is considered a Work in Progress. These two procedures seems to cause confusion. Consider the follow story: A work team for a popular magazine company is tasked with producing a fun, interesting, an exciting, spring issue. The team begins work drafting concepts and ideas and then presents them to other team
  • 4. Essay on The Dualism of Joe Christmas William Faulkner s protagonist, Joe Christmas trajectory and immoral decisions become the Siren s song that tip him over the stern of the boat that is his life. Christmas path takes turns and twists that create a taciturn man who has been brought into the world unwanted; then, he ruthlessly moves forward looking back at his past in order to make decisions for his future. Light In August parallels Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken , when Joe finds that he has reached a fork in the road and has to plan for kind of life he wants to lead, contradicting factors jumble his persona. This creates a dualism in Joe s soul, wherein two sides of a man challenge him to try to make decisions for survival. Faulkner s novel sets up intriguing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Milly maintained that she would be able to free herself and her child from her father, yet her son s story begins with his struggle even with his first breath. When Joe was born he was pure; a light from the heavens, but the transposition of his persona becomes apparent as his life is abridged by the decisions he makes. Joe hung a chair, his murder weapon, over his head. At that moment he lost all innocence, The course destiny chooses is in a sense superfluous, for we are not dealing with the kind of fatality which manifests itself in a dramatic progression of events, from which we cannot add or subtract a single one without changing its entire passage, for to do so would be like saying that someone has not fulfilled his destiny. Pouillon tells of the belief that a man finds himself on a path and makes a decision not in order to achieve his destiny or in a pre determined path, but instead Joe bases his choices when they appear in front of him. He kills McEachern and after has to think about his next move. Running away with bobby was no longer an option after she rejected his marriage proposal. He moves towards the road much like in Frost s poem: Then took the other, as just as fair, ............................................. Because it was grassy and wanted wear, Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same, (Frost 6 10) Joe Christmas begins to run, and running becomes his life, But
  • 5. Slave Narratives as a Literary Genre Slave Narratives as a Literary Genre: Frederick Douglass Literature is an important part of life for many people, and slave narratives are an important part of literature. They have much to offer when it comes to what they can provide to others and what they can teach them about an experience that is completely foreign to many people. Finding sources on slave narratives is, fortunately, not that complex, because there have been many written and they have stayed popular because they speak to people in a way that fictionalized accounts of slaverydo not. If I were going to create a full research paper on the general topic of Frederick Douglass and slave narratives as a literary genre, seeking answers to an open, objective question such as how slave narratives (and, specifically, Frederick Douglass) are used and understood in the context of modern day relationships between whites and blacks, then the best serious and authoritative sources I have been able to find to support such a hypothetical research paper using the academic resources available to me as a college student would be the following: Asim, Jabari. (2003). African American literature in the black. 1 June 1997. The Washington Post. Newspaper accounts such as this one show that black literature is becoming more relevant to people today, and that it is being purchased at a strong enough rate to create an income for the authors and the publishers. This is a significant jump from where black literature was at the
  • 6. Patriots Marching Band Case Study 1. Why do you want to be in a leadership position in the Patriots Marching Band? I am a Patriot at heart and I want to do all I can to serve this band to the best of my abilities. 2. What do you believe are your greatest leadership strengths and greatest leadership challenges? One leadership strengths I possess is that I am a very good public speaker and am able to easily address a group of people whether it is a big or small one. I also believe that I am quite approachable and friendly. One of my challenges would be trying to show the band that I could be a fun, as well as effective and productive leader. Even when I am feeling tired and slightly irritable, which I can be when tired, I will have to work hard to keep a positive attitude and to not let the negative side show though to the band. First, being a five year veteran will certainly show people of my commitment and the skills that I have more than likely picked up along the way. I have always tried to support people in band where I can, especially new comers, and hope that many people in the band program respect me as both a musician and a leader. I also make an effort to be inclusive and get to know the various people in the program, for respect is largely earned not gained. This year more than ever, being a senior, I have pushed myself to lead by example and to be a positive force within the bands as well a force that younger kids can look up to. I have always held pride in all of my bands and I believe that many people know this. I by no means keep my musical passions a secret, it is a large part of who I am, and every band I play in likewise plays a role in

I have had the opportunity to help MC the Langley Relay event as well as speak about my journey with the Canadian Cancer Society and my family s struggles with cancer. I joined a team and continued to volunteer at the event as a participant until I was approached by the Canadian CancerSociety s Community Giving Coordinator in 2012 to start a Youth Committee for young adults in the Langley School District. I was named chair in 2013, and have been in charge of running the meetings, arranging presentations and contacting other potential members; our goal for Langley is to have the largest youth component in all of Western Canada. In 2014, I was the Captain of one of Brookswood Secondary s five teams. For the past 2 years, I have been on Walnut Grove Secondary s team and we have fundraised by selling tulips during lunch and after school and selling Krispy Creme Doughnuts. I was also elected Grad Council President this year, and my role as chair on the Youth Committee prepared me for this position. In today s society, we are seeing a trend of major influence coming from many different types of media. An example of this is social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Knapp states that memorable messages have three different qualities that make a good memorable message. To start, (Knapp et al., 1981) states that First, memorable messages often come from someone who is older and of higher status, Most campaigns will use a spokesperson who is well known to the public; an example of this is a celebrity putting their name towards a cause. These spokespeople are often the campaign s biggest supporters both financially and motivational. (Miles A, et. al., 2001) describes that research into adult interventions shows that those who take part in mass media health campaigns are women from higher socioeconomic groups who are already engaging in better health practices. Second, memorable messages are often brief oral injunctions that prescribe rules of conduct for solving a personal problem, (Knapp et al., 1981). These would be more explicit directives, such as Exercise more and You should eat smaller portions, such as. Also, we may expect that parents messages will show their attitudes toward overweight and obesity that imply a rule. For example, if a parent tells their child, Obese people
  • 11. The Theory Of Leadership And Leadership Introduction to the Topic Organizations of any nature will not subsist without some level of leadership. This paper discusses the nature of leadership, which depends on the effectiveness of a leader; the specific personality characteristics, physical, and social traits that set leaders apart from followers; and the characteristic of a servant leader. It also gives insight to biblical integration of the concepts and the strategies for implementing the concepts within the organization. Group Consensus TheNature of Leadership Leadership is in an echelon above management in that there is almost an aura about a leader that compels followers to want the same things they want, as opposed to managers which get their followers to do what they want (Marker, 2010). Therefore, managers tend to utilize power, whereas leaders can be influential. Good leaders also have a vision both a company vision and a personal vision, in which is instilled into followers. An effective leader will also have an understanding of ethical issues, who and what ethical decisions affect, and how issues should be handled. John Ferrell and John Fraedrich (2014) suggest that headstrong leaders know that ethics contribute to employee commitment, investor loyalty, and customer satisfaction (p. 16 17). Knowledge of these relationships aid leaders in being well round and make leaders aware of the consequences of the actions taken decisions that are made. He believes in knowledge enough so much that he will break a law to expose the government. Montag is now determined and has his mind set. This is a big
  • 15. Cosmetic Surgery Of Breast Augmentation Breast Augmentation Today, more and more women think about cosmetic surgery to make their bodies look perfect. The most popular kind of plastic surgery is breast augmentation. Some women want to enlarge their breasts; the others wish to correct their sagging bust, and they go to a surgeon and ask him or her to change their body. A short term effect of such operation is full satisfaction with the new appearance and improvement of sexual life. Women often feel excited and think that their life will change for the best. However, such feelings are often temporarily, and they may develop into something worse. Therefore, there is another side of breast augmentation, which is less pleasant than the previous one. Such long term effects as depression, pain, discomfort, various infections as well as suicide are experienced by many women who underwent a plastic surgery. Consequently, the theme of breast augmentation is important since it relates to thousands of women who hesitate whether to change their breasts or not, especially those women who have already made an operation. Although breast augmentation helps women become more self confident in their beauty, this type of cosmetic surgery has also many negative effects such as unwillingness to breastfeed, different health problems, and even suicide. The first attempts of breast augmentation appeared in 1895 when a lipoma was transferred to the breast (Ramachandran). After that, some injections were tried; and only in 1962, the modern

It is highly contagious and can occur anywhere on the body, especially in exposed areas. The two different types of Impetigo are Bullous Impetigo, which are large blisters, and Non Bullous Impetigo, which are crusted over blisters. Non Bullous Impetigo is the most common type. It is recommended to wash the infected areas with clean gauze and antiseptic soap every day, more than once if possible. Also, soaking any areas crusted over in warm soapy water has proven to help decrease the amount of crust surrounding the area. However, it is not necessary to remove all crusting. Another recommendation to prevent from spreading Impetigo is to cover the affected area with a sterile gauze and tape or a loose bandage to avoid scratching. However, Malcolm Gladwell, a famous writer, contradicts the assumption of people through the book, Outliers. Gladwell insists that extrinsic factors define success rather than the personal qualities. Nonetheless, Gladwell himself goes against the topic of Outliers in his assertion about hard working if you work hard enough and assert yourself, and use your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to your desires . Although people should work hard to seize the opportunity for success, success actually came from extrinsic factors because opportunity of relative age gives physical and emotional advantages through appropriate timing for birth, opportunity to raise under the concerted cultivation increases one s practical intelligence, and opportunity to fulfill 10,000 hours of practice guarantees time to achieve success at every field. It s important to have 10,000 hours of practice, but most of people can t fulfill 10,000 hours of practice because they do not have an opportunity to get 10,000 hours. In the case of Outliers, Gladwell exemplifies Beatles to show the opportunity to get 10,000 hours of practice. Beatles could fulfill 10,000 hours of practice in Hamburg for an opportunity to perform for 270 nights in just over a year and a half. Consequently, the Beatles became outliers in their music. The lesson from Beatles is that people should seize an opportunity to practice 10,000 hours at their field. Otherwise, the success doesn t approach to individuals. Therefore, the opportunity to fulfill 10,000 hours of practice challenges Gladwell s suggestion of hard

However, I feel like the realism is lost when it comes to the candle and Judith s sword. They look quite dull compared to the human figures and cloth in the painting, making them look very simplistic. The light used in the painting is done very well, showing that there can only be so much light coming from one candle, which makes the lighting very natural. In my opinion, the light represents the pure and misogynistic views towards women. These views see women as people that can t do wrong, seeing women only as kind or maternal beings. LABOUR MARKET DYNAMICS, UNEMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN GHANA INTRODUCTION Owing to a GDP rebasing in 2011, Ghana became the fastest growing economy in the world with a GDP growth pinned at 20%, the largest per capita income in West Africa and the 21st in the continent. Ghana joined the league of oil producing countries in December 2010 with 85,000 barrels of crude oil in a day . Fiscal deficit fell from 5.9% of GDP in 2010 to an estimated 4.3% in 2011 due to strong revenue performance . Despite an impressive increase in economic growth rate over the years, the Ghanaian economy is still characterized by low employment rate and low labour productivity rate as against the relatively increasing growth rate of population. Unemployment rate in Ghana has varied over the years averaging 8.82% from 2001 until 2013. It reached an all time high of 12.90% in 2005 and a record low of 5.20% in 2013 . Ghana s unemployment rate is 25.6% for the younger age group between 15 and 24 years twice that of the 25 44 age group and three time that of the 45 64 age group . In Fantomina, the main character, the author does not provide her real name to the readers, changes her identity multiple times throughout the story. In A Tale of Two Cities, two of the main characters, Charles Darnay and Sydney Carton, look very similar, therefore, throughout the story they are mistaken for each other multiple times. Both of these novels showcase the theme of mistaken identity and disguise as well as the different consequences the characters get in the different texts. In Fantomina, the author allows the theme of mistaken identity to be seen through the protagonists many different identities. The first identity the main charactertakes on is Fantomina, the prostitute. Now this identity not only changed her physical identity but it also changed her moral identity. When meeting Beauplaisir, Fantomina depended on the Strength of her Virtue, to bear her safe thro Tryals more dangerous than she apprehended this to be, and never having been address d by him as Lady, was resolv d to receive his Devoirs as a Town Mistress, imagining a world of Satisfaction to herself in engaging him in the Character of such a one, and in observing the Surprise he would be in to find himself refused by a Woman, who he supposed granted her Favours without Exception (Haywood 44). Before she met Beauplaisir she was determined to keep her virtue, as can be seen in the quote. Although, as she took upon the role of Fantomina, she did not uphold her morals. Evidently, her taking on the role of being a prostitute was not the best idea if she wanted to keep her virtue, but nevertheless, she did it anyway just to get the man she wanted. Her losing her virtue shows that by taking on her identity as Fantomina, her moral identity was altered. The case of mistaken identity can be seen in a physical aspect in A Tale of Two Cities . In this novel, the two characters Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay have uncanny similarities. The two characters could not be any less similar personality wise but the resemblance from the outside is incredible. Many people noticed the similarities between them, especially when they were in the same

Comparing Herodotus And De Vaca s Writing Styles A Comparison of Styles Herodotus versus de Vaca Throughout the course of the world, there have been many great civilizations that have risen and fallen from power. Many of these civilizations are remembered not only through the texts or works that they themselves produced, but through the writings of later historians. Herodotus was an example of a later historian, because he wrote about a civilization of old, de Vaca was a historian of the moment because he covered a civilization as he experienced it. The contrast in the two styles is plainly evident for the most part in the two literary pieces. Herodotus has a very distinct style compared to de Vaca and as de Vaca s works came later it can be assumed that he was partially influenced by Herodotus. The three main areas that Herodotus and de Vaca s works differ are the time period in which they wrote their pieces, how they regarded their subject matter, and who they were writing about. • 37. UW Music 162 Last Monday, I got to experience a sensational performance by the University Symphony, composed by Dr. Jonathan Pasternack, that enhanced my knowledge and emotional state through the uniqueness of both the symphony and opera act. Having only experienced a symphony once during the course of my life, I was ecstatic to attend such a soothing and joyful concert. The concert was fairly short, it last two hours, and consisted of 2 symphony songs and 1 opera act. The first two were symphony, which were played in a very unpredictable manner. The melody (violins) started off very slow and quickly increased their tempo. The orchestra performed many instances of crescendo and decrescendos; this kept the audience on the edge of their seats in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The opera in one act was hilarious and made the orchestra a lot more entertaining to listen to. It made the entire audience feel at ease because the opera was an act accompanied by a consistently steady tempo from the orchestra: there wasn t a two part section, slow and steady beat, but consist texture. Overall, the performance turned out a success. Both the symphony and opera act enhanced the audience with the feeling of warmth and laughter. The symphony made me to realize how each section is structured and in order, while the opera act was simple, yet made it very delightful to listen to. Also, It s amazing how different the symphony and opera act turned out. The symphony followed a four movement pattern: fast, slow, minuet /dance, fast, while the opera combined both musical and singing element. In essence, the combination of voice and strings as well as the unstructured nature and freedom of the opera led me to emotionally connect with all three pieces of the
  • 38. The Media s Influence On Women Throughout the course of history, pregnancy has been acknowledged through different societal views. In America, famous, wealthy women exposed their pregnancy to the whole world. Most celebrities do this through the use of media. The way media revealed child bearing is through nude photos of pregnant celebrities: mothers covering their breasts with one hand, while placing, or holding their baby bump with their other hand. Although many portrayed this act as innocent and beautiful, others claim it is immoral and wrong, believing women should reveal their pregnancywith respect to their bodies. In addition, it is evident that only a certain class, and race are exposed, which created controversy with media representation. The first issue of nudity sparked other magazines to issue women and their naked bodies. Authors of many articles compare media representations with societal views, while voicing their opinions on the inequality or representation of women in media. Throughout the years, the media has made it evident that women are a true gift to society. They did this through the use of photography; capturing mothers baby bumps and exposing their beauty to the whole world. Before the nineteenth century, pregnancies were not publicized as mothers exposing their nude bodies. Instead, keeping their pregnancies hidden from the tabloids allowed women to maintain their bodies private as if the body was a treasure. This enabled women to not look sexual or promiscuous in society

Succession of leadership goes along with the strength of the personnel. Once Mike retires, there will need to be a smooth transition of leadership. This transition will affect the entire company from the vision to client relations. If done properly there will only be minimal adjustments and continued growth of the company. Otherwise this transition can be the company s downfall. Sustainability is another vital issue. With many companies going green trying to reduce their carbon footprint, Sigma must continue to find ways to reduce theirs also. Companies with these environmental
  • 40. Personal Education Philosophy The purpose of this paper is to identify my personal educational philosophy. Every student is unique in their own way, and should be given an opportunity to learn in an environment that fosters mental, emotional, social, and physical development. It is my duty as a health and physical educator to provide an environment conducive to learningthat is relevant, engaging, and a challenging experience for all my students despite their physical abilities. A monist views the mind and body as one. As the book states, physical activity is equally as important as intellectual activity pertaining to the mind and body relationship (Wuest Fisette, 2012).The purpose of physical educationis to teach the whole student, not just their body. It is my belief that we learn from our personal experiences. I am firm believer in John Dewey s approach that we learn by doing . Therefore, after reading the text my professional philosophy derives from the pragmatic and humanistic philosophies. Pragmatism: According to the text, a pragmatist believes that experiences not ideals or realities are the basis of the truth (Wuest Fisette, 2012). It is essentially a simple story of a Hobbit who reluctantly undertakes a great adventure with a band of dwarves and a wizard to assist in the regaining of treasure lost to a dragon in times gone by. However, the trials faced during this journey and it s descriptive manner mean that the book is far from simple at times and it would be fair to assume that this would place it at the higher end of Key Stage 2 readership, perhaps aged 10 to 11 as it is commonly accepted that children read books typically written approximately 2 years older than their own age. The wood from this tree has been a very good building material and is used in projects from house building to small wood carpentry projects. Quercus Alba is a very tall tree that extends outward at the top making a very large canopy. Unlike its common name the white oakdoes not have whit bark. Its natural region extends from the eastern coast over the Appalachian Mountains and into the eastern part of Kansas. White oak trees can reach heights upward of sixty five to eighty five feet and the tallest was one hundred and forty four feet. As the trees get taller their canopy extends out farther and many branches at the bottom of the tree are run horizontally to the ground. The base of the tree grows to a large diameter which makes a great base for the large tree. The tree is a very sturdy hardwood tree that makes great building material. Quercus Alba has a closed cell structure making it hard for water to get in. It has a natural resistance to water and it will not rot. This great quality of the Quercus Alba makes it an ideal building material for many large construction projects. Before ships were built out of metal early carpenters and ship craftsmen would build ships out of white oak. Many large construction projects are built with white oak. Homes are commonly framed with white oak wood and the interior of some houses are done with white oak.

Stafford, there is a individual that had been peacefully traveling alongside a mountainside road, and he spots a dead female deer that had been recently killed. Upon closer inspection of the deer, it appeared that she was pregnant with a fawn that was never to be born. This gave the speaker a sense of hesitation, while he attempted to come up with a plan that would address the carcass lying in the middle of the road. Right off the bat, we can tell that this poem is based on the free verse type of poetry, as it doesn t have any particular rhyming scheme. It only occasionally contained half rhymes, such as the words road and dead . Stafford was known for not having a rhyme scheme in his poems, although occasionally in a few of his poems, he would like to include it. Seeing as though there was no regular rhyme scheme, we are also able to tell that the poem does in fact have a irregular meter, meaning there is little to no rhyme between the lines. Now we venture off into diction, which stands for the choice of words while writing to convey a typical mood. While reading the poem, we can see the speaker trying to paint a picture of a gloomy night. He demonstrates this by saying: traveling through the dark , that road is narrow; to swerve might make more dead and finally, then pushed her over the edge into the river. Stafford wanted to make us feel the same stress the speaker was in at the time, by painting this picture, so we the readers can envision what is actually happening. If we move on to imagery, we can see that when the speaker states that the doe was large in the belly, inferring that there is a unborn fawn in the deer. This was an example of fine imagery, to which the speaker wanted to demonstrate a vivid idea
