A cloud is a discrete IT environment designed for
delivering scalable and measurable IT resources remotely.
Prior to cloud computing, the Internet and documentation
of Web-based designs were both represented by the cloud
symbol.
The Internet is for content-based IT resources released
over the World Wide Web, although clouds do not have to
be Web-based.
Technology Innovations
 The following are some examples of pre-existing
technology that had a significant impact on cloud
computing.
 Clustering:- A cluster is a collection of interconnected
IT resources that function as a single system.
 Grid Computing:- A computing grid is a system that
organizes computer resources into one or more logical
pools.
 Virtualization:- Physical IT resources can provide
several virtual images of themselves thanks to a layer
of virtualization software.

Cloud Computing
 "Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous,
convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of
configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers,
storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly
provisioned and released with minimal management effort or
service provider interaction. This cloud model is composed of
five essential characteristics, three service models, and four
deployment models.“*

Cloud Computing Models
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
 It's a computer network that's managed over the internet.
 The fundamental benefit of adopting IaaS is that it saves
consumers money and time by allowing them to avoid the cost
and complexity of owning and managing physical servers.
Platform as a Service (PaaS)
 The PaaS cloud computing platform is designed to help
programmers develop, test, execute, and manage applications.
Software as a Service (SaaS)
 SaaS is also known as "on-demand software". It is a software in
which the applications are hosted by a cloud service provider.

Types of Cloud
Public Cloud
 Public cloud is a pay-per-use service that allows anyone to store
and retrieve information through the Internet.
Examples:- Amazon elastic compute cloud (EC2), IBM
SmartCloud Enterprise, Microsoft, Google App Engine,
Windows Azure Services Platform.
Private Cloud
 Internal cloud or corporate cloud are other terms for a private
cloud.
 Organizations use it to create and run their own data centers
internally or with the help of a third party.
 Opensource tools like Openstack and Eucalyptus can be used to
deploy it.

Types of Cloud
Hybrid Cloud
 The public cloud and the private cloud are combined in a hybrid
cloud.
Hybrid Cloud = Public Cloud + Private Cloud
 Because services running on the public cloud can be accessed
by anyone, while those running on a private cloud can only be
accessible by the organization's users, hybrid cloud is only
partially safe.
Example: Google Application Suite (Gmail, Google Apps, and
Google Drive), Office 365 (MS Office on the Web and One Drive),
Amazon Web Services.

Summary
 Cloud computing has numerous advantages for
enterprises.
 It enables businesses to set up a virtual office, giving
them the freedom to connect to their company from
anywhere at any time.
 Using cloud computing to manage and maintain your IT
systems could save you money.
 You can save money by utilizing the services of your
cloud computing service provider rather than purchasing
pricey systems and equipment for your organization.
