Clm 5 p’s process

  • 2. Seeks effective and efficient learning through visual, systematic and meaningful approach Consists in 5 phases which: •Have a Systematic Process •Material is manageable •Allows rapid and effective learning •Helps in grade improvement Each Phase has 4 repeating steps: * Identify Key concept * Organize and connect ideas * Think critically * Ask questions
  • 3. Input: Sources of information: previews knowledge, textbook, lecture materials 4 repeating steps Output: *Skeleton Visual map *Key questions for next phase It helps: *Have a general idea of the topic *Grow motivation and interest * Get familiar with key topics * Getting oriented in the topic * Learn efficiently and effectively
  • 4. INPUT: Existing knowledge, lecture presentation 4 repeating steps OUTPUT: *Revised visual map which helps follow non linear explanations. *Key questions for next phase It helps: *Integrate new concepts to your previous visual map *Analyze the topic frame *Get ready for the process phase
  • 5. INPUT: Existing knowledge, outside and appropriate resources such as handbooks, textbooks. Internet is not reliable 100% 4 REPEATING STEPS OUTPUT: Revised visual map, key questions for next phase It helps: *Integrate additional concepts *Get a deeper understanding and strength memory *Recall and recreate your visual map
  • 6. INPUT: Previous knowledge, tools and handouts, new problems solved under exam conditions. 4 REPETING STEPS OUTPUT: * Final version of visual map which must be showed to teacher or tutor *At this point there should be no question It helps: *Reinforce and test what´s been learned and what is still missing *Solve new problems
  • 7. Produce results and new ideas INPUT: Existing knowledge and exams 4 REPEATING STEPS OUTPUT: *Revised visual map, adding information from exams *Key questions: what went right and wrong, how can I improve In this phase: *You are expected to ace your exams satisfactorily and create new ideas *You must apply your knowledge *You can improve your performance for next topics
  • 8. CLM is a learning method that when is approached and worked appropriately, that is, following the 5 phases and the steps in each one, it helps you understand things in a better way and learning becomes meaningful and more valuable.
