Polar bears live in the Arctic and are perfectly adapted to life on sea ice, where they hunt their main prey of seals. Pregnant females dig snow dens in the fall to give birth, remaining in the dens for 4-8 months without eating or drinking. Polar bear cubs are born very small and remain with their mother in the den for 3-4 months, nursing. Polar bears are at risk due to global warming causing sea ice melt, which they need to hunt seals.
