Extreme Heat :
The impact of extreme heat on mental health is
associated with increased incidence of disease
and death, aggressive behavior, violence, and
suicide.
Drought and farmer suicide:
Drought create a devastating impact on farmer ,
mainly in developing countries.
Every year 3114 farmers died only in Maharashtra,
India.

Severe weather can affect mental health
before, during, and after the event. The toll
and trauma that stems from disasters can
contribute to stress and anxiety, acute
stress reaction, and ability to self-regulate –
and for some, posttraumatic stress
disorder.

Children :
Children are at particular risk for distress,
anxiety, and other adverse mental health
effects in the aftermath of an extreme
event.
Emotional and behavioral responses in
children shortly after a disaster, such
as depression, clinginess, aggressiveness,
and social withdrawal.

10. Women, Pregnant Women, and Post-
partum Mothers :
Post-disaster stress symptoms are often
reported more frequently by women than
men., Women have higher prevalence of
PTSD and other mental health disorders
after disasters than do men.

11. Emergency Workers and First Responders:
Emergency workers and first responders,
including healthcare workers and public
safety workers, are exposed to deaths,
injuries, diseases, and mental stress caused
by climate and weather-related disasters.

12. People Who Are Homeless
About 30% of people who are chronically
homeless suffer from some form of mental
illness. The majority of homeless
populations live in urban and suburban
areas, where they are more vulnerable to
health risks from exposure to heat waves .
They suffer more from mental illness than
health diseases.

13. Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)
SAD is a depressive illness caused by
shortened daylight hours and a lack of
sunlight
The symptoms of SAD recur regularly each
winter and usually start between September
and November, continuing until March or
April.
symptoms may include: Sleep problem , over
eating , poor cognitive function etc.

 Government need more research on cause and effect of mental health and
climate change.
 We should be aware of our environment ,make it clean ,plant trees.
 And we should go to psychologist if we have any mental illness.
