Teen Pregnancy And Teenage Pregnancy
Teen pregnancy is something that affects over one million young teens in the United
States. For some, these pregnancies are planned but 85% of these teens the
pregnancy is unplanned. This can cause a lot of endless problems in the life of the
teen and the newborn child. There are a lot of things that can cause an unplanned teen
pregnancy, such as teens experimenting with sexual encounters at a young age.
Another major cause is the lack of guidance due to guardians that are blind or do not
want to believe in such activities. These causes can have devastating effects on the
teen and the newborn in the household. Some effects of early pregnancy will include
an unexpected rise of responsibility for the teen and can cause many health concerns
for both teen and newborn child.
Teens experimenting are the leading cause in the unplanned pregnancies. As a
teenager in high school ages there are a lot of peer pressures. Such as experimenting
with alcohol and unprotected sexual intercourse. Drinking and the use of narcotics
also largely have an impact on the judgment of the teen before the pre pregnancy
comes about. Experimenting can cause many effects on the teen and the relationships
at hand, including the relationships with the baby s mom or dad and also the parents
of the teens. Another way of experimenting is the pregnancy caused in the sequel of
either a long time dating of the boyfriend or the other case of those random one night
stands or hook ups. Experimenting can be well
Historic Value Of The Oregon Historical District
The Oregon Historical District is a twelve city block area in Dayton, Ohio that is
registered with the National Register of Historic Places. This reasonably small area
has both commercial and residential land uses. Though mixed use space, commercial
and residential, is seen as a modern phenomenon, this area of land is quite old for an
American city with the original plat recording in 1829. However, the homes in the
area developed over a period of 100 years which allowed for them to development
with different architectural features with the most common being Classic Revival.
This different architectural development could also be seen throughout the business
district. Intriguing ideas held within the historic value of the Oregon Historical
District are the ideas of preservation and protection. Instead of requiring its residents
to rehabilitate the homes to original status the requirements are that the home look
authentic and have the appeal of authenticity. The aesthetic nature of the homes
should be less museum like and more home like with the intention of preserving the
architectural character of the past. In 1975, the Oregon Historical District ratified a
Constitution with the most recent amendment in 2014. This Constitution requires
that residents that live within the twelve block radius of the district be part of the
Oregon District Historic Society. These residents are known as members and pay a
yearly membership fee. There is a board of trustees that consists of nine
Importance Of Fuzzy Logic
6.1. IMPORTANCE OF FUZZY LOGIC Fuzzy logic is all about the relative
importance of precision: use as Fuzzy Logic Toolbox software with MATLAB
technical computing software as a tool for solving problems with fuzzy logic.
Fuzzy logic is a fascinating area of research because it does a good job of trading off
between significance and precision something that humans have been managing for a
very long time. In this sense, fuzzy logicis both old and new because, although the
modern and methodical science of fuzzy logic is still young, the concept of fuzzy
logic relies on age old skills of human reasoning. Fig 6.1 Fuzzy Description 6.2.
USAGE OF FUZZY LOGIC Fuzzy logic is a convenient way to map an input space
to an output space. Mapping input to output is the starting point for everything.
Consider the following examples:
With information about how good your service was at a restaurant, a fuzzy logic
system can tell you what the tip should be.
With your specification of how hot you want the water, a fuzzy logic system can
adjust the faucet valve to the right setting.
With information about how far away the subject of your photograph is, a fuzzy
logic system can focus the lens for you.

Between the input and the output, the preceding figure shows a black box that can
contain any number of things: fuzzy systems, linear systems, expert systems,
neural networks, differential equations, interpolated multi dimensional lookup
tables, or even a spiritual advisor, just to name a few of the possible options.
Clearly the list could go on and on.Of the dozens of ways to make the black box
work, it turns out that fuzzy is often the very best way. As Lotfi Zadeh, who is
considered to be the father of fuzzy logic, once remarked: In almost every case you
can build the same product without fuzzy logic, but fuzzy is faster and
White Collar Crimes And Drug Crime
White Collar Crimes and Drug Crimes both causes a big problem with our society.
White Collar Crimes according to the film The Business of White Collar Crime as
a crime committed by a person with respectability and a high social status in
accordance to his occupation. While a drug crime is a crime where you have
possession of drug paraphernalia or if you are manufacturing drugs. Another way to
be charged with a drug crimeis if you are trafficking and distributing drugs. Drug
crimes can be done on a state and federal level. While white collar crimes is almost
always tried on a federal level. A federal crimeor federal offense is a violation of a
crime that was made illegal by the United States federal government. If you violate
a federal law you would be sent to a federal prison instead of a state prison.
The Business of White Collar Crime was a short film that focused on white collar
crime and what it is and how it is handled. It also goes into details about the
different societal stigma when convicted for a white collar crime versus a drug
crime. The movie also gave more information on how one could get charged with a
white collar crime like inside trading. Inside trading is when you have security
information that the general public do not have and use and or sell it for profit.
The film also covered how long financial fraud has been around and how it hurts
the middle class more than anyone else. The movie goes into details about how the
people who commit white collar crimes usually get light sentences compared to one
who commits a drug crime. It also talks about the type of people who are usually
convicted for white collar crimes which is usually people in powerful positions.
The film Rockefeller Drug Laws, Race the Genesis of Mass incarceration STSI
Seminar Prof Samuel K. Roberts discussed how race has played a effect in some of
the laws we have today. It also goes into the bill that was signed by Governor
Rockefeller back in 1996 and what that bill was. The bill was laws put in place to
fight drug crimes. Samuel also went into details about how crack babys and other
language is use to bring down the black community and to bring a very bad stigma
amongst the group of people who uses crack. He
The Importance Of The US Citizenship In The United States
The US is among the countries where the immigrants have the hardest time in
becoming the citizens. Since the beginning of the year 2000, immigrants have been
encountering a complicated process of the US citizenship and a permanent residency.
Terrorism has often affected the country over the years, making the government extra
careful when accepting and registering individuals for the US citizenship.
Establishment of permanent residency in the US is almost impossible especially
when a person is coming to the US on grounds other than through an approved job or
through their families who are the citizens of the U.S. Therefore; the immigrants are
not usually granted the citizenship in the US so often (Motomura, 16).
The U.S. government system considers and grants citizenship on special condition
among the immigrants. The people who seek refuge or asylum status have a special
condition of having their needs met by the government. Besides, there is a lottery
that other people may apply. People who follow these routes of the special
citizenship qualifications may not know how difficult or impossible it could be to
become a citizen and acquire the residency in the United States. Nevertheless, all that
the immigrants will need to do to obtain the citizenship will be winning in the lottery
application where they will make an application and follow the given procedure
towards a grant of their citizenship. However, there is the requirement that the
immigrant has to know the
Ageing 101 Video Analysis
(1) The theory that best support my current views on aging is the Wear and Tear
Theory. The theory is the idea that changes associated with aging are the result of
chance damage to the body that accumulate over time . (2) As many of us know,
the body is constantly renewing itself. The cells in you is constantly creating new
ones to replace the old, just like a boat. You are constantly restoring all the parts,
where the boat will basically be almost all new parts. I think our body is like a built
boat, car, or even a house, you must keep repairing it. Some people would literally
get a new body part. A blood transfusion, heart replacement and a leg replacement
are some examples of the theory. But just like a used car, boat or house, we stop...

In my own time, I am curious about the aspect of being able to expand your life span.
The one video that caught my attention is the Ageing 101 video. The reason it got me
thinking about aging is because the first fact which is that Most older adults think
their health is good . I would think of the perspective of my own, I would believe
they would believe they are so close to the end that their attitude of their health
would depreciate. Being positive about yourself will bring your feeling of being
invisible to death. That s why the older men and women that live up to over 100
years are still strong. The positive attitude and environment is expanding their life.
I had always told myself I would be happy just to be 50 years old and that s how far
I would love to live. The idea of being able to live longer, maybe to 100 years old
just by basically living life to the fullest through positive reinforcement, brings a
different perspective of longevity. I knew that taking care of our physical self can
help with longevity, but now I know our mentality of aging must be taken care of
just as much as physical. The idea of aging through this course so far has gave me
positive feelings of the normal action of our life expectancy and kept me wonder
about the phycological aspect of growing
Research Paper On Ergonomics
1. Introduction
Ergonomics is an interdisciplinary field of study that seeks to design tools and
equipment for optimizing the interface between humans and systems [1]. Ergonomics
is also known as the process of understanding and improving human communications
with types of products, equipment, environments, and systems. Ergonomics
principles are used to improve the fit between the worker and the workplace. Targets
for ergonomics improvement are divided into two broad categories which are
physical issues, such as reaches and exertion, and cognitive issues, such as mental
overload and confusing displays [2].
Many theories, principles, methods, and data relevant to the workstation design have
been generated through ergonomics research over the years. Poor workstation design
can lead to fatigued, frustrated, and hurting workers [3]. As a result, the productivity
of the product and quality will decrease [4].
Often in an industry, the workstation is designed in an arbitrary manner [1], giving
little consideration to the anthropometric measurements of the anticipated user. Small
changes in workstation dimension can have a considerable impact on worker
productivity, and occupational health and safety. Inadequate posture from an
improperly designed workstation causes static muscle efforts and then eventually
resulting in acute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Speech On Nanotechnology
With great power comes great responsibility, said Uncle Ben to Peter Parker. This is
a quote many of us are familiar with, but there is a ringing truth to it that some of us
overlook. We human beings have been on this planet for a very long time, and
although we have shown how great our power is through our advancements, I don t
think we can say the same of our responsibility. Our natural resources are dwindling;
we re consuming things faster than the earth can replenish itself.
There s also the saying, out with the old and in with the new. This has become a very
prominent practice amongst us. With every technological advancement and
innovation, we throw away the defunct version to make way for the newer, lighter
model contributing to the rising waste and pollution levels (owing to the fact that
many of these things are non biodegradable, or take a long time for it to be broken
down). In our quest to make our own lives easier through novel inventions, we
paradoxically make it a little more complicated.
In light of these shortcomings, there has been an upsurge in eco friendly materials
and devices, all in an effort to recover and save the environment. Nanotechnology,
which deals with matter on an atomic level, has played a significant role in this
movement. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By being able to manipulate things on a molecular scale, materials can be made
waterproof, used to locate and identify cancer cells without taking tissue samples, and
even filter smog through the application of nanotechnology on paint. In reference to
the last example, this is a very useful environmental application, considering that
pollution reduction is a very important concern for us. Nanotechnology has also made
it possible to treat and clean water as
How Did Shakespeare Influence An Era Of Theatre
As William Shakespeare shaped an era of theatre for the whole world, many other
influential and important people shaped the world in different ways. Firstly, Ivan IV
Vasilyevich, ruler of Russia, shaped European history through his reign from 1547
through 1584. On the other side of Europe, Queen Elizabeth I ruled England and
Ireland shaping relations between Protestantism and Catholicism. Finally, Galileo
Galilei influenced the methods of modern science, especially physics, through his
pioneering observations of the solar system. During William Shakespeares lifetime,
many other prominent people were transforming European politics, Protestant and
catholic relations, and scientific discovery. The great and horrible man, Ivan IV
Vasilyevich, usually called Ivan The Terrible, ruled Russia in the time of
Shakespeare. Crowned as the initial Tsar of Russia,... Show more content on

Born on February 15, 1564, in Pisa, Italy, Galileo Galilei taught mathematics, while
creating numerous interesting inventions like the telescope along with his
observations about nature. He also helped lead and support the idea of a sun
centered solar system, called the Copernican theory. He was the firstborn of six
children born to the well known musician and music theorist, Vincenzo Galilei. In
1583, Galileo entered the University of Pisa to study medicine, although he soon
became fascinated with many subjects, particularly mathematics and physics, which
he would pursue for the rest of his life. Galileo died in Arcetri, Italy, on January 8,
1642, after suffering from a fever and heart problems. Luckily, not long after his
death, the Church could no longer deny the truth in science. Finally, in 1758, it lifted
the ban on supporting the Copernican theory. Clearly, Galileo Galilei was yet another
important person during the life of William
Frederick Douglass And Anne Moody
In 1619, when the first Africans were brought into Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the
production of crops on the farms of Caucasian landowners, a period in our country
s dark history began, and with it a struggle for equality and freedom. For over 200
years, slavery consumed the United States, compelling blacks to long and later fight
for the freedom their fair skinned counterparts had stripped from them. Decades later,
the oppression of black rights marked the beginning of another struggle; one for basic
rights that the black population had been denied. During these struggles, several
names would come to mind for their achievements and efforts against racism and
slavery, names like Frederick Douglass and Anne Moody. Frederick Douglass
paved his own road to freedom while Anne Moody put her life on the line fighting
for the rights that she knew she deserved. Although time frames apart, both
Frederick Douglass and Anne Moody were able to resist and fight racism due to
their thirst for knowledge, the help they extended towards other blacks, and their
faith in succeeding despite previous failures. Although Frederick Douglass was a
slave and Anne Moody a free woman with a century between them, both were able
to defy racism by making the most of their education. Slaves were not expected to
read or write, and even after the abolition of slavery, blacks were thought to be
uneducated and unintelligent. Frederick Douglass, upon receiving only a short
period of instruction from his
A Interview Meeting About John Daniels
In my interview session I interviewed John Daniels, who has been working with in
the STEM and CIS community for many years. In this session we spoke on his
trials and tribulations, the career paths he chose, and where it landed him in life.
Mr. Daniels was raised in a segregated community where every neighborhood was
divided based on race. Even though everyone was close in each neighborhood,
there was still a division in the community as a whole. When John was growing up,
teachers were like an extension of his parents. They worked as a team to control
their conduct and ensure their educational needs were being met. Later the school
system became intergraded and the atmosphere changed drastically. There was
tension amongst students and in most cases communication gaps between student
and teachers. Later, when he attended college, he chose to attend an HBCU over
any other institution to get the best college experience he could get. His college
experience was full of tradition and a close family like atmosphere. The HBCU
Mr. Daniels chose to attend was Jackson State University, in Jackson, Mississippi.
He was not the only African American in his program being that he went to an
HBCU he was surrounded by people like him who grew up in communities like him.
His field of study was ComputerElectronic Engineeringhe decided to follow through
with a career in electronicsin the US Navy. After, graduating from college, because of
the lack of jobs in his area for his field, he
Health Motivation And Its Effects On Health
Introduction
Health motivation is believed to be a key factor for motivational health behaviors
and health outcomes (Rabideau, 2005; Ryan Deci, 2000). It is also a predictor of an
individual s motivation to change health behaviors, which may be increased by
strengthening health knowledge and reducing health risks (Schwarzer, 2001).
Motivation in regards to health behaviors may be able to alter cognitively based
interventions using health education.
Screening is a preventative tool used in the efforts to reduce the likelihood of
colorectal cancer (CRC), the second most common cause of cancer death in the U.S.,
CRC screening can detect disease at an early stage, when treatments are the most
effective through the identification and removal of precancerous polyps (National
Institute of Health (NIH), 2014). Preventative health behaviors can refer to various
activities that an individual may take to maintain, prevent, and restore, used to
prevent or improve to their health (NIH, 2014). For instance, health motivation and
the components of health behavior has been addressed in many health behavior
theories (e.g., Health Action Process Approach (Schwarzer, 1992), Protection
Motivation Theory (Rogers, 1983; Rogers Prentice Dunn, 1997), Theory of Planned
Behavior (Ajzen s, 1985; Ajzen Madden, 1986).The study of health motivational
behavior has given rise and has been pursued by researchers from different
disciplines, including psychology, social psychology, education, and
The Critical Value Of Crude Oil
Final Project: Forecasting Crude Oil
The Critical Value of Crude Oil Prices Oil is the world economy s most important
source of energy and is therefore critical to economic growth. At its most basic
level, the supply of crude oil is determined by the ability of oil companies to extract
reserves from the ground and distribute them around the world. Its value is driven by
demand for refined petroleum products, particularly in the transportation sector.
Petroleum products power virtually all motor vehicles, aircraft, marine vessels, and
trains around the globe. In total, products derived from oil, such as motor gasoline,
jet fuel, diesel fuel, and heating oil, supply 33% of all the energy consumed by
households, businesses, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Crude oil prices have evolved in multiple ways over time, varying between being
stable, trending upwards and falling abruptly. Major movements in oil prices can be
largely explained by changes in oil supply, oil demand and oil inventories. As such,
it is of value to consider these key variables as those of economic trends to contain
information on future oil price developments and forecasting. In context to Cao, M.
D., Bauer, L., Purohit, P. K., Faseruk, A (2015); A crude oil futures contractis an
agreement to buy or sell a specified amount of crude oil at an agreed upon future
date at an agreed upon price and location. Unless offset, the parties are obliged to
complete the agreed transaction at the expiration date. Market expectation, therefore,
is reflected in the futures market where buyers and sellers fix future prices
corresponding to the delivery times. Apart from providing much needed liquidity,
large international futures markets also serve as price centers to worldwide traders as
a whole. While less than three per cent of futures contracts result in the delivery of
crude oil, futures remain an indicative benchmark of market expectation. Participants
in the futures market in general are hedgers (commercial) and speculators
(noncommercial) who are distinguished by their exposures to the physical crude oil
Potential Energy In Basketball
We have a basketball and a superball. How high will they bounce if I drop them on
the floor? (almost as high as they were dropped from). (bounce balls at a few
different heights). Notice when I drop one on the ground, it comes back up almost as
high as where I dropped it from. When physicists talk about moving objects, we often
talk about energy. There are different kinds of energy. One kind is called kinetic
energy. Anything that is moving has kinetic energy, and the faster it is moving, the
more kinetic energy it has. Another kind of energy is potential energy. We measure
potential energy of an object as its height above the ground. Why do we say a ball
being held up has potential energy? If the ball was dropped, gravity would... Show

Has anyone ever wondered how we get the energy to run lights and all the other
electrical appliances at home? They all use the energy from electricity that comes
from power plants, but where does that energy come from? There are lots of
different kinds of power plants that use different kinds of energy, but we ll talk
about the most common. Most power plants have big turbines that spin around to
change kinetic energy into electrical energy. Right here I have a hand crank that s
connected to a light bulb. If I turn the crank, I can light up the light bulb. This is an
example of how to make electricity from kinetic energy. But the big turbines in
power plants are too big to spin up by hand. These power plants burn coal, oil, or
gas to heat up water and make a lot of steam. This steam rises and turns the big fan
blades of the turbine, so this process turns thermal energy into kinetic energy. It
doesn t stop there. Coal, oil, and gas are sometimes called fossil fuels, because they
come from the fossils of plants and animals that lived thousands of years ago.
Animals eat plants to get their energy, and the plants get their energy by absorbing
sunlight. So that energy you re using to light up your house came from the sun
thousands of years ago, and it was changed into many other types of energy to get to

Parks have been around for many years. They truly have impacted not only suburbs,
but they have majorly impacted cities. Without the invention of parks it would be
hard to escape city life. Cities are still changing from what they used to be and how
they are designed. However the future of the parks is unsure due to funding and lack
of maintenance. The first idea of a park was from William Penn in 1682. He created a
plan for Philadelphia to have five areas of park like land. Then James Oglethorpe
had an idea in 1733 for Savannah. He established a system, where neighborhoods
were revolved around a square (Schuyler, 2015). The first recorded urban park was
Fairmount Gardens. It was created in 1812, in Philadelphia when they constructed
their waterworks. The park first started off at five acres, surrounding the
waterworks. The park had become so popular that in 1828 they expanded it to
twenty eight acres. In 1850, Lemon Hill and Sedgley estates were added to
Fairmount, which made the popularity of the park increase. People thought the
park site was chosen because of the class of people that lived there, but that was not
the case. The land was chosen because it was too elevated. Since the land was so
elevated that made it too hard to build and expensive to build anything there or to
build roads on that kind of land (Schuyler, 2015). Parks then became very popular in
cities. William Cullen Bryant and Andrew Jackson Downing became the faces
We Were The Underdogs Of The American Revolution
War, blood, anger, hate, peace, independence, tax, massacre, pioneering, and
confusion are all words that can be used to describe the American Revolution. A
time where we were most vulnerable to the British. A time where America was
once one of the lower nations in the world. Infact, we were not even a nation yet.
We were a group of people fighting oppression that had been cast upon us by the
British. We were the underdogs, and we should not have ever had to get into a war,
but we did. We got into war to protect the values and beliefs that we held dear.
America got into war to show the British that they can not use them like property.

the colonies difficult. They were subjected to British control and were supposed to

growing tensions between the British and the colonies. A tension which would soon
erupt and cause a war that would allow for the colonies to gain their independence
and become a great and powerful nation known as the United States of
Locus Of Control Thesis
Question: How is it possible that our attitudes and values can affect our economic
status? Hypothesis: Internal locus of control refers to the perception that we have
control over what happens to us and what happens to others (37). I believe that
every person, whether they were born into a rich family or had to work from the
day they could walk until the day they die, has potential to succeed. No one ever
wants to take responsibility for their failure, he/she would rather place the blame on
someone else. The individual cannot take all of the blame for their situation, most
of the blame is put on the group to which the individuals belong to, which in this
case is the poverty class (32). It is said that the group of poverty as a whole
Argumentative Essay On College Textbooks
College Textbooks
College Textbooks are required in nearly all college level courses. A typical student
usually buys three to four textbooks for each of his or her classes. The cost of the
college textbooks however, continue to increase in price which results in a variety of
problems students must face. Tyler Kingkade a professional editor and journalist
quote that, College Textbookprices have increased faster than tuition, healthcare costs
and housing prices, all of which have risen faster than inflation. As a result, each year
students carry the burden of having to buy textbooks each quarter while

In the current era, faced with expensive tuition, students are typically taking out
loans and grants in order to pay for their tuition. John W. Schoen, an award winning
journalist and economic reporter, in his article Why does a college degree cost so
much? shows: The average cost of tuition and fees at a private, non profit, four year
university this school year was $31,231 up sharply from $1,832 in 1971 1972 (in
current dollars). At public, four year schools, tuition and fees cost about $9,139
this year. In the 1971 school year, they added up to less than $500 in current
dollars, according to the College Board. (Schoen June 2015) As shown, the average
amount a student pays for college tuition is extremely high and to add the price of
textbooks to that budget is unsettling. As a result, students are faced with grim
decisions when paying for their tuition as well as the price of college textbooks.
Furthermore, some of the decisions that students make include not buying the
textbook altogether. For instance, in a government PIRG report, Fixing the Broken
Textbook Market, a statistics showcasing students reveals that, 65 percent said they
had decided against buying a textbook because it was too expensive; Nearly half (48
percent) said the cost of books had an impact on how many or which classes they
took; 94

November 19, 1917 to Jawaharlal Nehruand Kamala Nehru. Indira was practically
born into the political world. Her father, Jawaharlal Nehru, was the first prime
minister of India. Indira was constantly around politics and became very used to
the idea of what being a prime minister is like. Indira was mostly taught by tutors in
her home growing up. When she did attend school it was not year round. This let
her spend as much time at home with one on one tutors as much as she needed to.
As a child, the only time she was around her father was when he wasn t away

was hard for Indira most of the time because while her father was always working
and not home, her mother was bed ridden because of multiple illnesses. Although her

Explain The Integumentary System
1.Name and describe the function of each major organ system in the body.
a.Integumentary system The integumentary system consists of the hair, skin, and
nails and is the largest organ in the human body. It acts as a protector of the deeper
body systems, maintains and regulates body temperature, and helps to eliminate
waste and toxins from the body. It also senses touch and pressure as well as
temperatures and pain.
b.Skeletal system The skeletal system refers to the bones and joints of the human
body. At birth, infants have over 260 bones in the body but as an adult, many of
them fuse together to make a total of 206 bones. The skeletal system is the base of
what allows us to move around and perform even the smallest of tasks. It also ... Show

Muscular system The muscle system is just that muscles. Muscles, with the support
of the skeletal system, are what makes humans walk, run, or grab and lift thing by
contracting and working together with other muscles and body parts.
d.Nervous system The nervous system is the fast acting message center for the brain
and spinal cord to nerves and other parts of the body. When you think to jump, this is
what tells your brain and your muscles when and where to jump. Like the
integumentary system, it also senses and regulates body temperature on the outside,
but the nervous system also regulates and detects internal temperatures.
e.Endocrine system The endocrine system houses the hypothalamus, pituitary gland,
gonads, thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, and adrenals. It is responsible for secreting
hormones throughout the human body. Hormones are what regulate things like our
sex drive, reproduction, sleep patterns, metabolism, and moods.
f.Cardiovascular system The cardiovascular system houses the heart and blood
vessels what keeps you alive. Without this system (a beating heart), our blood would
not circulate throughout our body while getting rid of toxic waste and other vital
organs wouldn t get the oxygen needed for them to work and

Tsunami: Killer Wave Movie Review
National Geographic
A tsunami is one of nature s most catastrophic and destructive forces in the world.
Unlike hurricanes or storms, there are no warning signs, the weather doesn t get bad,
and the earth doesn t shake. This documentary explores the origins of tsunami waves
and what causes them. We are also taken to past events where survivors tells us
enthralling stories of tsunami incidents that they had encountered in Hawaii, Japan,
and the Pacific Northwest. While scientists and researchers alike, tries to find better
ways to warn people and prepare them for such disastrous phenomenon.

The Discovery Of The Earth s Magnetic Field
The Earth s magnetic field
The discovery of the Earth s magnetic field Over 2000 years ago, the Chinese
discovered that lodestone, a naturally magnetised iron ore, would align itself in a
north south direction. Hundreds of years later, they discovered that their compasses
didn t point true north and in fact that this position changed with time. The compass
was first used for navigation in the 11th 12th century, only arriving in Europe towards
the end of this period. Then, in 1600, William Gilbert (Figure 1.1) published De
Magnete, Magnetisque Corporibus, et de Magno Magnete Tellue (On the Magnet and
Magnetic Bodies, and on the Great Magnet the Earth). He concluded that the Earth
itself was magnetic with a centre of iron, and this is why a compass would point
north. Figure 1.1 William Gilbert (1544 1603) , author of De Magnete, the first
printed book written by an academically trained scholar based almost entirely on
actual observation and experiment .
The structure of the Earth s Magnetic Field
The Earth s magnetic field can in fact be closely approximated by a magnetic dipole
at its centre, tilted by 11Лљ to the Earth s rotational axis, Figure 1.2. The south pole
of this magnetic dipole actually points northwards such that the north pole on a
compass will point towards northwards, and more precisely, to the Earth s magnetic
north pole. The magnetic field strength decreases from the poles towards the equator.
Currently the field is 56 ВµT at the magnetic north
The Film A Better Life
Within the film A Better Life there are many examples of situations that are seen as
subjects which many people do not openly talk about. Circumstances such as illegal
immigration and how people who do chose to enter the United States through
backdoor channels can actually be a benefit to society and raise productive members
of society. Furthermore, the movie depicts an illegal, Carlos Galindo and his
struggles of maintaining a job, being a single parent, and at the same time evading
detection from United States immigrationofficers. This struggle of trying to provide
for his son Luis and make sure he maintains the correct direction which he is
following to be a successful member of society is plagued by Luis s friend, Facundo
and his girlfriend, Ruthie Valdez. Both of Luis s friends are on the track of being
stuck inside of a Hispanic gang. This rips Luis in half due to his proper upbringing
by his father Carlos. This paper will document multiple occurrences from the film
and analyze the cultural significance for each event. Originally, Carlos and his wife
immigrated illegally to the United States just before Luis was born with the intent
to establish a better life . This was followed by the struggles that all illegals face,
which resulted in a difficult life. Carlos s inability to provide an extravagant
lifestyle to his wife caused her to leave him to care for Luis himself. From our
lectures we learned this type of behavior from a Mexican woman is not typical

Rumors have it that Tatum s representatives are in discussions with the studio and
that they have admitted that something is not quite right. It is also suggested that

According to Cinemablend, specifications for each role point to major characters.
The new list led to deductions about the movie s antagonists and other major
characters. The first character that is mentioned in it is called Louis. He is
described as man who is elegant and intelligent. The description of Louis as an
appealing entrepreneur with a dark side led to rumors that the name Louis refers
to the key villain Nathaniel Essex, also known as Mr. Sinister. The description
seems to match the character of Mr. Sinister in all the points. Additionally, the list
names a female named Vera who is in her mid 20s and early 30s. She is described
as tough, fiery, beautiful, smart and unpredictable. Reports suggest that this
description belongs to the female lead in Gambit Bella Donna Boudreaux. The
character is a childhood friend of Remy LeBeau or Gambit himself. The list also
describes a young man named Nash who is in his mid 20s and early 30s and a
malevolent threat. It is also stated that he is the heir to his mother s business. The
description led to conclusions that Nash is none other than Julien Boudreaux, or Bella

Patriarchy In The Awakening
In the novel, The Awakening by Kate Chopin portrays an image where someone shifts
from one phase to another one. We find the protagonist go through a shift from
patriarchy to feminist resistance. As this story continues to unfold, Edna goes
through feminist resistance where she doesn t want to still rely on her husband
anymore and wantto live by her own rules. Edna Pontellier s awakening takes place
in Grand Isle and New Orleans during the late 1800s. It is an important factor of
the book because during this time period women were fighting for their rights.
Usually before this time, women would only stay home and follow the orders of
their husbands. Women during this time period needed to stay home and care for
the house and the children. They always had to live for their children almost are like
a slave to their husband. Women would be often seen as a property and not an actual
human being. In this novel, we find restrains at the beginning and later see the shift
to wanting freedom of expression.
In first paragraph of the novel, Kate Chopin describes an image of a bird that is
restrained from its freedom just as Edna feels held back from hers. A green and
yellow parrot, which hung in a cage outside the door... (Chopin, pg#) There is
symbolism behind the caged bird, which refers to Edna s feelings of imprisonment.
The bird symbolize Edna at home, a place she can t escape from and has to live with
under her husband s ruling . There is a saying in Spanish that states
Coach Ken Carter s Coach Carter
Coach Carter, an inspiring movie directed by Thomas Carter that told the story of a
real life high school basketball coach, was filled with unique and intriguing characters
that underwent a heartwarming growth throughout the movie. Coach Ken Carter, the
main character, was the one that helped the team evolve by being demanding, fun
and, most importantly, by showing a strong sense of leadership. It was through Ken
Carters actions and words that we were able to see that he was made to coach the
players and how much the team meant to him.
Firstly, Coach Carter was capable of being exceedingly demanding, whether it was
with the boys of the basketball team or with his own son when they were at home. It
was easy to understand how much he pushed te basketball players when he said:
Average is juste not good enough. Period! (??:??), which meant that he wanted the
team to be the best. It was also evident that he asked for a lot when he demanded
that his players maintained a grade point average of 2.3 or greater, instead of the
2.1 they were normally required to have. He also asked the team to wear ties when
there were games, made them do a lot of suicides and push ups, and asked them to
call each others sir . Although the Coach s requests may have been annoying to the
players, it was obvious that, in the long run, Ken really only wanted the best for them.

For instance, when Lyle, one of the team member, said he wasn t a sir, Coach
Carter responded: Oh, well, are you a madam? (10:15), which made the boys laugh.
In addition, he used girls name from his past, like his sister Diane or his childhood
sweetheart Delilah, to teach some game strategy. The Coach s humor motivated the
team and made the practices more entertaining. With his retort and his funny side,
Ken Carter really knew how to make basketball be a little more
My Brothers By F. Scott Fitzgerald
I felt the dread sink like a rock in my stomach. My two brothers, Ryan and Matthew,
were on the opposite end of the spectrum. My mother had been telling us for weeks
that we were going up to the farm that my family owned, but I didn t quite believe
her until today. My brothers were given dirt bikes last Christmas while I was given
a ATV. Both of them had been counting down the days until they were able to
finally ride the dirt bikes and that day had come. After everything was packed, I
crammed myself in the van with my brothers and hoped for this trip to end quickly.
After two long hours of traveling with nothing to look at but the passing trees, we
finally arrived at the farm. As we piled out of the car, I looked at the dirt road we
came in on and turned to the house. It was one story and had a red tin roof,
surrounded by a large grassy field and then woods beyond that. Twirling around, I
walked into the house and plopped onto the closes bed. As everyone else
unpacked, I locked myself in the room like a petulant child. Eventually my resolve
broke and I crept out of the room to see what everyone else was up to. All of the
food had been unpacked and the dirt bikes and ATV had been taken off of the
trailer. Helmets were promptly passed out and my brothers slung their legs over the
bikes and were gone. Not about to be left behind, I jumped on my ATV and I was
on their trail. The trails were newly cleared in the woods and almost running into the
trees served as a

Essay on Walt Whitman s Song of Myself
Walt Whitman s Song of Myself
This paper deals with Walt Whitman s Song of Myself in relation to Julia Kristeva s
theories of abjection my paper does not point to abjection in the text, but rather the
significance of the abscence of abjection. This abscence, looming and revolting, arises
from Whitman s attemt to refigure a conception of sublimity which delimits the
material which can trigger the sublime moment. Whitman s democracy of the
sublime is inclusive of those figures on the American landscape, their lives and
voices, which are functionalized into his world. This paper employs the theories of

The strange elegance of this specter looms in the relief, in the archaic layers of Song
of Myself. It is beyond the foregrounded inversive space at times utopic and sublime,
the space is permeated with universal brotherhood, happiness, the compelled
sentimental that I attempt to delve into, that source from which generates the
repulsive, hidden quivering of a text which, though cast out and forced into absence,
looms in the shadowed relief. The edification of his text and of his readership is
attempted through the construction of an inversive space which refigures the
sublime: the apex of the cultured. I have chosen those moments in the text in which
the poet nears the threshold of bordering abject in order to construct his sublime
utopian vision. It is here, this marked refigurement where ecstasy occurs, where
material which triggers the sublime is the signal of another text; a repulsive reading
looms from the absence of abjection
An invocation of the self begins Song of Myself, positioning the text as an
edification of the American readership: I celebrate myself, and sing myself, And
what assume you shall assume, For every atom belonging to me as god belongs to
you (lines 1 3). Thus Whitman s work joins with the

Components Of A Sociological Perspective
In a sociological perspective, there are main components the average human being
uses as a guide to maneuver their lives and their decision making. For some, culture
is the main factor due to religion and other cultural beliefs and upbringings. With
these beliefs, we tend to not explore and experience things in our life because we
want to remain close to our culture and live the safe and secure life to reach Heaven
or the higher place afterlife. This is a form of social institution. A social institution is
defined as a collection of individuals banded together in pursuit of a common
purpose. A social institution s common purposes include granting its members
certain rights and privileges. We all are involve in a social institution that helped
shaped who we are and where we are planning on going. Family is one debt you
will never escape while breathing air on this planet! Everyone has them whether you
are communicating with them or not. Family plays the biggest factor in your daily
life from the moment you take your first breath. As you grow older, you begin to
realize that you are going to have to make your own decision on building your own
family by getting married. The issue with that, Marriageisn t put on a pedestal and a
matter of fact, it s kind of frown upon until you reach 30 years of age. Marriage was
more of a personal, emotional, and more of a sacrifice to spend the rest of your life
with this other individual no matter the circumstances. Now, it s a

d. There are both advantages and disadvantages of social networking. Social
Networking includes sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. These are all
places where people may log on and submit a positive/negative comment on their
experience and it will immediately be recorded on the site page. This can be a good
way to get feedback as people are more likely to log onto the internet as it is easily
accessed and convenient. Although these social networks can have their downfalls,
one passenger that may have had a bad experience, may make a comment on the
network that automatically downgrades the airways reputation.
Question 3 a. To satisfy all their passengers EcoJET could incorporate the carbon
offset fee into the flight expenses so that all customers are paying a slight fee
without knowing it and to keep those who want to know they have paid the carbon
offset fee, they could put it on as an optional extra in the booking process.
Another option with the carbon offset fee is to have it as an option and to reward
those who pay it, for example you could offer a bonus such as first to board, better
seat choice, first to get off, extra baggage and better in flight service. This would
give people an incentive to care for the environment, for an extra $10 or
Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms
Should students wear school uniforms? This is a topic that has been thoroughly
argued, yet to no prevail on either side. I believe school uniforms overall impact
children and the education community negatively. There are many strong reasons to
turn down this policy. These include how the uniforms effect the children and their
learning, the sneakiness behind school administrations who utilize this system, and
how the children feel about the uniforms.
First, is how the uniforms affect the children in a negative way. I know a family
just a few houses up the street whose kids go to a Catholic school. Religion set
aside, they have to wear uniforms to school. Often I see them getting out of the car,
ripping off their bows and ties with a sort of disgust. My friend from that family,
Aaron, states on the topic, They are uncomfortable, which actually distracts me
more from learning and paying attention. This shows how school uniforms affect
the learning environment negatively and impact children in a negative way.
Everyone has heard the phrase, if you get hurt it s your own fault. But what if you
never get the chance to be hurt? You ll never learn. It s the same way with
something as simple as clothing. If children wear vulgar clothing to school then you
can talk to them and tell them it s wrong. It is bad preparation for the real world if
we are telling children what to do, rather than letting them learn to better prepare
themselves for the real world.
Next, is the sneakiness behind the administration and their altered statistics. Long
beach California is a town that incorporates school uniforms into their schooling. The
district claims the academic success and low violence rates are due to the school
uniforms. They did leave out the other improvements in their districts including,
promotion of conflict resolution, peer mediation, and parental involvement. The
superintendent of this district made a comment to the Harvard Education Letter
stating, It is really hard to know exactly what is causing the positive effect. This
shows how districts are hiding other information to promote how well uniforms fix
problems when in reality, it could be many things. The American Civil Liberties
Union (ACLU) in Southern

for running Dependent Sample (or One Sample) t tests, Independent Sample t

SPSS does not provide procedures for running Z tests. For the following examples,
we have created a data set based on cartoon 9.1 (Cow Poetry). To obtain our data,

by Farmer Perry. With the measurements we take from this sample we are going to

different from a criterion value (in this case the population mean). Before you can

and was obtained by finding the average number of times every one of Farmer
Perry s cows touched the electric fence (i.e., the population mean for fence
touching). In the procedure presented bellow, we are going to perform two tests at
the same time. The first test will compare the mean of fencetch (frequency of
touching the electric fence prior to attending cow school) with the population
average for touching the electric fence. The second test will compare mean of
fenctch2 (frequency of touching the electric fence after attending cow school) with
the population average for touching the electric fence. One Sample T Test Steps

Social Institutions Essay examples
The Military Social Institution is one of the three Primary Social Institutions. The
military was initially established to help protect, as well as unify a country, but since
it s development, it s done so plus more. The Military as a social institution has led to
domination and conquering of sorts, while trying to balance morals and justifications.
Since the military is run by the government, it can be assumed that not only does this
institutiontry to control and rationalize, but also continue to boil over into much of
the other institutions.
The Economic Social Institution is another one of the three Primary Institutions. The

The Family Social Institution is a Secondary Institution. Because of Family Life
being much a part of today s society and also a way of living, it can be said that this
type of lifestyle is undoubtedly a reason for planning right. Society created a norm
when dealing with adult life. It is considered normal to have a family and a home
when you arrive at a particular stage in your life. Much of what we live for is that
very lifestyle, and much of our dedication is to have a Family . That is why in our
society, we see billboards advertising vacations with The Family , or certain cars that
the whole Family will enjoy. The Families place within the social structure is there
due to involvement in our everyday life, and the experiences we sometimes take for
granted.
The Educational Social Institution is a Secondary Social Institution. Education in our
society is mandatory in order for growth and understanding. When looking at
education and society from a distance, you can see the correlation between the two.
As a particular society grows, you will notice the intellect grow, or vice versa. Society
is always in need of wealth and maturity, but without the education through learning
and teaching, there would be a standstill or decline in both the two. We seem to forget
how much we (society) can build upon ourselves, by educating each other. Every
institution relies on each other; therefore the
Oral Piercings And Its Effects
Oral piercings have become more and more popular among the past couple of
decades, especially with younger groups of people.1 They get these piercings
because they think it will make them more popular in their social groups or because
they think it looks good to get their tongue or lip pierced.2 Years ago, people got
piercings because of their certain religious practices or different ethnic groups, but
today oral piercings are becoming increasingly popular with the general population
regardless of their cultural beliefs.3 The most common places to get piercings in the
mouthare the tongueand the lips.4 Over the years, though, the tongue has become
very popular.3 With piercings becoming more prevalent, research is finding that
there and many complications and risk factors involved. One of the risk factors
from getting an oral piercing is infective endocarditis. This is especially significant
for someone who has heart disease because he is more prone to getting infections.5
Furthermore, Oral piercings are not to be considered a simple procedure that can be
done by anyone, they should actually be considered a surgery that is to be done by
professionals because of the complications that can arise from them.6 Some of the
early complications from getting oral piercings include pain, swelling of the piercing
site, bleeding, and infections.7 Following, late complications consist of localized
periodontitis, irreversible gingival recession, fractured or chipped teeth, and difficulty
Watergate
Watergate Scandal
Ever since the beginning of time, scandals have occurred. But one of the biggest and
infamous scandals is the Watergate. Approximately forty years ago from date, a
Watergate protector found a small portion of tape attached on the lock of on the
National Democratic Headquarters door. Then it all began.
The Watergate s attempted break in was a part of a bigger operation by President
Nixon. The rumor was Nixon s supporters and people involved in the scandal wanted
to tarnish the name of the Democratic parties. Democratic contenders were hassled
and even two of National Democratic Headquarters were cracked into.
When people became aware of the scandal, Nixon enclosed the issue. Even though the
cover up was attempted, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually, more hours of recorded discussions were found. These tapes displayed
that Nixon was even more involved in the scandal than people believed. A recorded
discussion in 1972 verified that Nixon and Hardeman communicated to try to hide the
conspiracy from further investigation.
After the whole Watergate incident other illegal events were also revealed. For
example, the plumbers , a White House assembly, were doing everything in their
power to prevent media from gathering information. Most of the media though did not
understand the consequences of the Watergate scandal, so they focused on reporting
on other things that were related to the 1972 election. After the exposure that one of
the condemned intruders wrote to Judge, the media turned its focused. The popular
magazine, Time Magazine, defined Nixon as experiencing daily hell and very little
trust .
Mainly everyone had a different perception of politics after this scandal, including
America. There was a widespread public perception that the political process had
been thoroughly corrupted, Robert Hockett says. Public policy seemed to be up for
sale to the highest. Why reforms faltered Congress attempted to change that

Essay On Drug Court
The drug court is specialized and designed for adults, who are not violent but who
have problems with substance abuse, where they are placed in a supervised intensive
treatment program as an alternative sentence of their offense. This can be achieved
thanks to the effort that the judicial power has achieved in coordination with the
legal defense, conditional freedom, social services, etc. The main goal of the drug
court is to reduce the use of drugs and so that criminal offenses are not repeated.
When I attended to observe the drug court in Salt Lake City,I did not really know
what to expect, it was at that moment where I can better understand how the justice
system works in relation to cases of offenders with substance abuse problems. ...

A particular case in which the individual had been released recently, had to report
to the designated home where he would have to stay for a while and had to arrive
at a certain time, but he did not have how to get there, a boy who has already
completed his program, he offered to give him a ride. That seemed a very nice gesture.
Personally, it was really a fabulous experience, where now I can say or comment
with others about how the drug court system really works for offenders with drug
abuse. Overall, attending the meeting before the court session began was very
helpful in order to better understand how the program works, and how it is
assigned to each individual. In this meeting we could hear the judge, prosecutor,
therapist, detectives and probation officers, etc, reviewing each case of the people
who are in the program. Each case of these people is reviewed, regarding the goals,
education, work, family, etc. where they establish concern or happiness for the
progress of each person.
In conclusion, I liked and enjoyed very much to see how these people who work in
the court have the same goal of helping these individuals to get out of drugs in
order to lead a healthier life. Each of the members of the court are really involved
not only because it is their job, but they mark a difference in the lives of these
individuals, showing them that they really care and expect them to succeed in the
program. Many of these individuals do not have family
Essay on Frank Liszt
amp;#9;Franz Liszt was born on October 22, 1811 and lived until July 31, 1886.
He was taught the piano by his father and then Czerny (Vienna, 1822 1823), making
himself known as a remarkable concert artist by the age of 12. In Paris he studied
theory and composition with Reicha and Paer; he wrote an opera and bravura piano
pieces and went on tours in France, Switzerlandand England before his bad health and
religious doubt made him rethink his career. Intellectual growth came through
literature, and the urge to create through hearing opera and especially Paganini,
whose influence effected Liszt. He eagerly transferred to the piano in original works
and operatic fantasias. Meanwhile he gave lessons and began his stormy relationship

He remained active as a teacher and performer to the end of his life.
Liszt s personality appears contradictory in its combination of romantic abstraction
and otherworldliness with a cynical diabolism and elegant, worldly manners. But
though he had a restless intellect, he also was ceaselessly creative, seeking the new
in music. He helped others generously, as conductor, arranger, pianist or writer, and
took artistic and personal risks in doing so. The greatest pianist of his time, he
composed some of the most difficult piano music ever written (e.g. the
Transcendental Studies) and had an extraordinarily broad repertory, from Scarlatti
onwards; he invented the modern piano recital.
Liszt had two personal touches to all of his compositions, experiment with large scale
structures, and thematic transformation. His transcendental piano technique was
imaginative in the same way, coming from his desire to make the piano sound like an
orchestra or as rich in scope as one. In harmony he ventured well beyond the use of
augmented and diminished chords and the whole tone scale; the late piano and choral
works especially contain tonal dashes arising from independent contrapuntal strands,
chords built from 4ths or 5ths, and a strikingly advanced chromatics, in non harmonic
tones.
Piano works naturally make up the greater part of Liszt s
Describe The General Features That Differentiate...
1.Describe the general features that differentiate descriptive research from other
types. Descriptive research depicts the people who are being studies more
accurately than most other designs. This research design differs from others
research designs because it does not answer the how , when , and why questions
but rather the what questions. Also, this style of research cannot describe what
caused a situation, or to identify the basis of a relationship, where one variable
affects the other. Correlational research describes and examine the relationships
and associations between variables while single subject designs only involve one
participant, or subject, in the research. 2.Describe as well as compare and contrast
the three types of descriptive research designs identifying the advantages and
disadvantages of each. RESEARCH DESIGNADVNATAGESDISADVANTAGES

research usually takes place outside of the lab. This style provides a good starting
position for future. This research only uncovers a relationship and does not provide
a conclusive reason for why a relationship exists and doesn t reveal which variable
influences the other. DESCRIPTIVEThis style provides multiple approaches for data
collection and can also be based on various sources like newspaper reports or
personal accounts. These accounts provide insight into life experiences. This style
also fuses both quantitative and qualitative data
Capitalism Is A System Of Economic Enterprise Based On...
Capitalism is a system of economic enterprise based on market exchange. The
concise definition from the oxford dictionary is a system of wage labour and
commodity production for sale, exchange and profit, rather than for the immediate
need of the producers . The word Capital refers to wealth or money used to invest in
a market with the hope of achieving a profit. In other words, Capitalism is often
described as an economic system in which the means of production and distribution
are privately or corporately owned and development occurs through the accumulation
and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.
Capitalist beliefs have been used as early as the 18th century specifically during the

Whereas Africans believed in collectivism which is the theory and practice of the
ownership of land by the means of production by the people or the state. To the
Europeans Africa was underdeveloped, slow and not conscious of all of the
resources that were assessable. Ultimately, The Europeans use of capitalism in Africa
led to the depletion of Africa s natural resources and the principle of domination. The
dominant group (Europeans) had power over the subordinate group (Africans). The
dominate group marginalized the Africans by confining them to a lower or outer
limit of social standing so that the Africans could stay oppressed.
Due to the Europeans use of capitalism, domination, and colonization people of the
African Diaspora have been oppressed for generation after generations by the
exploitation of their resources and the belief of having no culture. Black elites such
as W.E.B Dubois, Marcus Garvey and Walter Rodney all appropriated strategies for
black advancement. But despite such efforts all of their ideologies for black
advancement differentiated in numerous ways. Dubois, Garvey and Rodney were the
voices of the black movement around the world.
For instance, W.E.B Dubois strongly believed that capitalism was the primary cause
of racism. Dubois was a sociologist, historian, civil rights activist, and Pan Africanist.
He examined the geopolitical shifts in Europe, its colonies, as well as
The Influence Of Religion In Religion
Throughout history, scholars and researchers have tried to identify the factors drive
people to believe in religion. Many unconscious factors arise for reasons behind
Religion. While many people find joy and serenity in their religious activities
because of ethical teachings other reasons people engage in their faith become
apparent in society. A steadily growing body of evidence from the psychologyand the
social sciences demonstrate that many people s belief in religionlink to psychological
and social factors. Psychologically, religion supports people need to have personal
control over in their lives and reduces anxiety in the events that are out of their
control. Sociologically, people want fellowship with others that are in line with their
view and look for affirmation in their beliefs from others. Belief in God is dominant
and prevalent in contemporary American society. Often many people believe that
reasons behind religion come naturally, but social and psychological factors play an
influential role in reasons for religion.
Psychologically speaking, being religious brings happiness and mental stability in
people s lives (Ellwood, 75). Many researchers have conducted numerous studies
that religious people are happier than non religious people. Findings indicate that
levels of happiness are greatest among religious people. According to Michael Lipka
at pew research center, four in ten highly religious people say they are very happy
with their living conditions,
An Alternative Medication For Diabetes Mellitus
INTRODUCTION
Type two diabetes mellitus (Insulin independent diabetes mellitus) is a metabolic
disease characterized by constant hyperglycemia (Haghani et al, 2016). Elevated
blood glucose can cause lasting problems such as cardiovascular and renal disorders,
retinopathy, and poor blood flow (RГos et al. 2015). The progression of diabetes
mellitus can be avoided or deferred in people with impaired glucose tolerance by
introducing lifestyle changes and/or the use of therapeutic agents. Currently, there are
many medications are used to treat or stop the complications of type two diabetes
mellitus.
The purpose of this research is to discuss the use Fenugreek bread (Trigonella foenum
graecum) as an alternative medication for treating type two diabetes mellitus since
Fenugreek seeds have a therapeutic effect on the improvement of diabetic parameters,
blood lipids, and has antioxidant effects.
Fenugreek seeds are known for their characteristic smell of soup seasoning and as
an ingredient of Indian curry. The first recorded use of fenugreek dates all the way
back to 1500 B.C.E., in ancient Egypt and across the Middle East and South Asia,
the seeds were traditionally used as both a spice and a medicine (Goldman, 2014).
Usually, the seeds are used to treat diabetes, cough, and flatulence, to increase breast
milk secretion, and for anti inflammatory and aphrodisiac effects (KoupГЅ et al.,
2015).

For some, these pregnancies are planned but 85% of these teens the pregnancy is unplanned. This can cause a lot of endless problems in the life of the teen and the newborn child. There are a lot of things that can cause an unplanned teen pregnancy, such as teens experimenting with sexual encounters at a young age. Another major cause is the lack of guidance due to guardians that are blind or do not want to believe in such activities. These causes can have devastating effects on the teen and the newborn in the household. Some effects of early pregnancy will include an unexpected rise of responsibility for the teen and can cause many health concerns for both teen and newborn child. Teens experimenting are the leading cause in the unplanned pregnancies. As a teenager in high school ages there are a lot of peer pressures. Such as experimenting with alcohol and unprotected sexual intercourse. Drinking and the use of narcotics also largely have an impact on the judgment of the teen before the pre pregnancy comes about. Experimenting can cause many effects on the teen and the relationships at hand, including the relationships with the baby s mom or dad and also the parents of the teens. Another way of experimenting is the pregnancy caused in the sequel of either a long time dating of the boyfriend or the other case of those random one night stands or hook ups. However, the homes in the area developed over a period of 100 years which allowed for them to development with different architectural features with the most common being Classic Revival. This different architectural development could also be seen throughout the business district. Intriguing ideas held within the historic value of the Oregon Historical District are the ideas of preservation and protection. Instead of requiring its residents to rehabilitate the homes to original status the requirements are that the home look authentic and have the appeal of authenticity. The aesthetic nature of the homes should be less museum like and more home like with the intention of preserving the architectural character of the past. In 1975, the Oregon Historical District ratified a Constitution with the most recent amendment in 2014. This Constitution requires that residents that live within the twelve block radius of the district be part of the Oregon District Historic Society. IMPORTANCE OF FUZZY LOGIC Fuzzy logic is all about the relative importance of precision: use as Fuzzy Logic Toolbox software with MATLAB technical computing software as a tool for solving problems with fuzzy logic. Fuzzy logic is a fascinating area of research because it does a good job of trading off between significance and precision something that humans have been managing for a very long time. In this sense, fuzzy logicis both old and new because, although the modern and methodical science of fuzzy logic is still young, the concept of fuzzy logic relies on age old skills of human reasoning. Fig 6.1 Fuzzy Description 6.2. USAGE OF FUZZY LOGIC Fuzzy logic is a convenient way to map an input space to an output space. Mapping input to output is the starting point for everything. Consider the following examples: With information about how good your service was at a restaurant, a fuzzy logic system can tell you what the tip should be. Since the beginning of the year 2000, immigrants have been encountering a complicated process of the US citizenship and a permanent residency. Terrorism has often affected the country over the years, making the government extra careful when accepting and registering individuals for the US citizenship. Establishment of permanent residency in the US is almost impossible especially when a person is coming to the US on grounds other than through an approved job or through their families who are the citizens of the U.S. Therefore; the immigrants are not usually granted the citizenship in the US so often (Motomura, 16). Ergonomics is also known as the process of understanding and improving human communications with types of products, equipment, environments, and systems. Ergonomics principles are used to improve the fit between the worker and the workplace. Targets for ergonomics improvement are divided into two broad categories which are physical issues, such as reaches and exertion, and cognitive issues, such as mental overload and confusing displays [2]. Many theories, principles, methods, and data relevant to the workstation design have been generated through ergonomics research over the years. Poor workstation design can lead to fatigued, frustrated, and hurting workers [3]. As a result, the productivity of the product and quality will decrease [4]. Often in an industry, the workstation is designed in an arbitrary manner [1], giving little consideration to the anthropometric measurements of the anticipated user. This is a quote many of us are familiar with, but there is a ringing truth to it that some of us overlook. We human beings have been on this planet for a very long time, and although we have shown how great our power is through our advancements, I don t think we can say the same of our responsibility. Our natural resources are dwindling; we re consuming things faster than the earth can replenish itself. There s also the saying, out with the old and in with the new. This has become a very prominent practice amongst us. With every technological advancement and innovation, we throw away the defunct version to make way for the newer, lighter model contributing to the rising waste and pollution levels (owing to the fact that many of these things are non biodegradable, or take a long time for it to be broken down). In our quest to make our own lives easier through novel inventions, we paradoxically make it a little more complicated. It is also a predictor of an individual s motivation to change health behaviors, which may be increased by strengthening health knowledge and reducing health risks (Schwarzer, 2001). Motivation in regards to health behaviors may be able to alter cognitively based interventions using health education. They all use the energy from electricity that comes from power plants, but where does that energy come from? There are lots of different kinds of power plants that use different kinds of energy, but we ll talk about the most common. Most power plants have big turbines that spin around to change kinetic energy into electrical energy. Right here I have a hand crank that s connected to a light bulb. If I turn the crank, I can light up the light bulb. This is an example of how to make electricity from kinetic energy. But the big turbines in power plants are too big to spin up by hand. These power plants burn coal, oil, or gas to heat up water and make a lot of steam. This steam rises and turns the big fan blades of the turbine, so this process turns thermal energy into kinetic energy. It doesn t stop there. Coal, oil, and gas are sometimes called fossil fuels, because they come from the fossils of plants and animals that lived thousands of years ago. Animals eat plants to get their energy, and the plants get their energy by absorbing sunlight. So that energy you re using to light up your house came from the sun thousands of years ago, and it was changed into many other types of energy to get to your

However the future of the parks is unsure due to funding and lack of maintenance. The first idea of a park was from William Penn in 1682. He created a plan for Philadelphia to have five areas of park like land. Then James Oglethorpe had an idea in 1733 for Savannah. He established a system, where neighborhoods were revolved around a square (Schuyler, 2015). The first recorded urban park was Fairmount Gardens. It was created in 1812, in Philadelphia when they constructed their waterworks. The park first started off at five acres, surrounding the waterworks. The park had become so popular that in 1828 they expanded it to twenty eight acres. In 1850, Lemon Hill and Sedgley estates were added to Fairmount, which made the popularity of the park increase. People thought the park site was chosen because of the class of people that lived there, but that was not the case. The land was chosen because it was too elevated. Since the land was so elevated that made it too hard to build and expensive to build anything there or to build roads on that kind of land (Schuyler, 2015). Parks then became very popular in cities. The Discovery Of The Earth s Magnetic Field The Earth s magnetic field The discovery of the Earth s magnetic field Over 2000 years ago, the Chinese discovered that lodestone, a naturally magnetised iron ore, would align itself in a north south direction. Hundreds of years later, they discovered that their compasses didn t point true north and in fact that this position changed with time. The compass was first used for navigation in the 11th 12th century, only arriving in Europe towards the end of this period. Then, in 1600, William Gilbert (Figure 1.1) published De Magnete, Magnetisque Corporibus, et de Magno Magnete Tellue (On the Magnet and Magnetic Bodies, and on the Great Magnet the Earth). He concluded that the Earth itself was magnetic with a centre of iron, and this is why a compass would point north. Figure 1.1 William Gilbert (1544 1603) , author of De Magnete, the first printed book written by an academically trained scholar based almost entirely on actual observation and experiment . The structure of the Earth s Magnetic Field The Earth s magnetic field can in fact be closely approximated by a magnetic dipole at its centre, tilted by 11Лљ to the Earth s rotational axis, Figure 1.2. The south pole of this magnetic dipole actually points northwards such that the north pole on a compass will point towards northwards, and more precisely, to the Earth s magnetic north pole. The magnetic field strength decreases from the poles towards the equator. Currently the field is 56 ВµT at the magnetic north

Circumstances such as illegal immigration and how people who do chose to enter the United States through backdoor channels can actually be a benefit to society and raise productive members of society. Furthermore, the movie depicts an illegal, Carlos Galindo and his struggles of maintaining a job, being a single parent, and at the same time evading detection from United States immigrationofficers. This struggle of trying to provide for his son Luis and make sure he maintains the correct direction which he is following to be a successful member of society is plagued by Luis s friend, Facundo and his girlfriend, Ruthie Valdez. Both of Luis s friends are on the track of being stuck inside of a Hispanic gang. This rips Luis in half due to his proper upbringing by his father Carlos. This paper will document multiple occurrences from the film and analyze the cultural significance for each event. Originally, Carlos and his wife immigrated illegally to the United States just before Luis was born with the intent to establish a better life . This was followed by the struggles that all illegals face, which resulted in a difficult life. Carlos s inability to provide an extravagant lifestyle to his wife caused her to leave him to care for Luis himself. My mother had been telling us for weeks that we were going up to the farm that my family owned, but I didn t quite believe her until today. My brothers were given dirt bikes last Christmas while I was given a ATV. Both of them had been counting down the days until they were able to finally ride the dirt bikes and that day had come. After everything was packed, I crammed myself in the van with my brothers and hoped for this trip to end quickly. After two long hours of traveling with nothing to look at but the passing trees, we finally arrived at the farm. As we piled out of the car, I looked at the dirt road we came in on and turned to the house. It was one story and had a red tin roof, surrounded by a large grassy field and then woods beyond that. Twirling around, I walked into the house and plopped onto the closes bed. As everyone else unpacked, I locked myself in the room like a petulant child. Eventually my resolve broke and I crept out of the room to see what everyone else was up to. All of the food had been unpacked and the dirt bikes and ATV had been taken off of the trailer. Helmets were promptly passed out and my brothers slung their legs over the bikes and were gone. Not about to be left behind, I jumped on my ATV and I was on their trail. The trails were newly cleared in the woods and almost running into the trees served as a

This abscence, looming and revolting, arises from Whitman s attemt to refigure a conception of sublimity which delimits the material which can trigger the sublime moment. It is beyond the foregrounded inversive space at times utopic and sublime, the space is permeated with universal brotherhood, happiness, the compelled sentimental that I attempt to delve into, that source from which generates the repulsive, hidden quivering of a text which, though cast out and forced into absence, looms in the shadowed relief. The edification of his text and of his readership is attempted through the construction of an inversive space which refigures the sublime: the apex of the cultured. I have chosen those moments in the text in which the poet nears the threshold of bordering abject in order to construct his sublime utopian vision. It is here, this marked refigurement where ecstasy occurs, where material which triggers the sublime is the signal of another text; a repulsive reading looms from the absence of abjection An invocation of the self begins Song of Myself, positioning the text as an edification of the American readership: I celebrate myself, and sing myself, And what assume you shall assume, For every atom belonging to me as god belongs to you (lines 1 3). I believe school uniforms overall impact children and the education community negatively. There are many strong reasons to turn down this policy. These include how the uniforms effect the children and their learning, the sneakiness behind school administrations who utilize this system, and how the children feel about the uniforms. First, is how the uniforms affect the children in a negative way. I know a family just a few houses up the street whose kids go to a Catholic school. Religion set aside, they have to wear uniforms to school. Often I see them getting out of the car, ripping off their bows and ties with a sort of disgust. My friend from that family, Aaron, states on the topic, They are uncomfortable, which actually distracts me more from learning and paying attention. This shows how school uniforms affect the learning environment negatively and impact children in a negative way. Everyone has heard the phrase, if you get hurt it s your own fault. But what if you never get the chance to be hurt? You ll never learn. It s the same way with something as simple as clothing. If children wear vulgar clothing to school then you can talk to them and tell them it s wrong. It is bad preparation for the real world if we are telling children what to do, rather than letting them learn to better prepare themselves for the real world. Next, is the sneakiness behind the administration and their altered statistics. Long beach California is a town that incorporates school uniforms into their schooling. The district claims the academic success and low violence rates are due to the school uniforms. They did leave out the other improvements in their districts including, promotion of conflict resolution, peer mediation, and parental involvement. The superintendent of this district made a comment to the Harvard Education Letter stating, It is really hard to know exactly what is causing the positive effect. This shows how districts are hiding other information to promote how well uniforms fix problems when in reality, it could be many things. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in Southern

  • 44. Describe The General Features That Differentiate... 1.Describe the general features that differentiate descriptive research from other types. Descriptive research depicts the people who are being studies more accurately than most other designs. This research design differs from others research designs because it does not answer the how , when , and why questions but rather the what questions. Also, this style of research cannot describe what caused a situation, or to identify the basis of a relationship, where one variable affects the other. Correlational research describes and examine the relationships and associations between variables while single subject designs only involve one participant, or subject, in the research. 2.Describe as well as compare and contrast the three types of descriptive research designs identifying the advantages and disadvantages of each. RESEARCH DESIGNADVNATAGESDISADVANTAGES CORRELATIONALCollects more data than other experiments and this style of research usually takes place outside of the lab. This style provides a good starting position for future. This research only uncovers a relationship and does not provide a conclusive reason for why a relationship exists and doesn t reveal which variable influences the other. DESCRIPTIVEThis style provides multiple approaches for data collection and can also be based on various sources like newspaper reports or personal accounts. These accounts provide insight into life experiences. This style also fuses both quantitative and qualitative data

Whereas Africans believed in collectivism which is the theory and practice of the ownership of land by the means of production by the people or the state. To the Europeans Africa was underdeveloped, slow and not conscious of all of the resources that were assessable. Ultimately, The Europeans use of capitalism in Africa led to the depletion of Africa s natural resources and the principle of domination. The dominant group (Europeans) had power over the subordinate group (Africans). The dominate group marginalized the Africans by confining them to a lower or outer limit of social standing so that the Africans could stay oppressed. • 46. The Influence Of Religion In Religion Throughout history, scholars and researchers have tried to identify the factors drive people to believe in religion. Many unconscious factors arise for reasons behind Religion. While many people find joy and serenity in their religious activities because of ethical teachings other reasons people engage in their faith become apparent in society. A steadily growing body of evidence from the psychologyand the social sciences demonstrate that many people s belief in religionlink to psychological and social factors. Psychologically, religion supports people need to have personal control over in their lives and reduces anxiety in the events that are out of their control. Sociologically, people want fellowship with others that are in line with their view and look for affirmation in their beliefs from others. An Alternative Medication For Diabetes Mellitus INTRODUCTION Type two diabetes mellitus (Insulin independent diabetes mellitus) is a metabolic disease characterized by constant hyperglycemia (Haghani et al, 2016). Elevated blood glucose can cause lasting problems such as cardiovascular and renal disorders, retinopathy, and poor blood flow (RГos et al. 2015). The progression of diabetes mellitus can be avoided or deferred in people with impaired glucose tolerance by introducing lifestyle changes and/or the use of therapeutic agents. Currently, there are many medications are used to treat or stop the complications of type two diabetes mellitus. The purpose of this research is to discuss the use Fenugreek bread (Trigonella foenum graecum) as an alternative medication for treating type two diabetes mellitus since Fenugreek seeds have a therapeutic effect on the improvement of diabetic parameters, blood lipids, and has antioxidant effects. Fenugreek seeds are known for their characteristic smell of soup seasoning and as an ingredient of Indian curry. The first recorded use of fenugreek dates all the way back to 1500 B.C.E., in ancient Egypt and across the Middle East and South Asia, the seeds were traditionally used as both a spice and a medicine (Goldman, 2014). Usually, the seeds are used to treat diabetes, cough, and flatulence, to increase breast milk secretion, and for anti inflammatory and aphrodisiac effects (KoupГЅ et al., 2015).
