The program far exceeded its goals for the previous year, adding over 1,100 new Facebook fans and over 2,700 new Twitter followers. Tempe uses social media to engage residents, promote events, provide information quickly to residents, and showcase the city as innovative and tech-friendly. The future goals are to continue growing audiences by being relevant, activate residents to get involved in the community, and build relationships to portray government as friendly rather than intimidating.
