• Learning competencies: Students should be
able to read and know most of the sounds of
the alphabet – low level reading (which is
expected)
• Learning styles: Hands on learners, visual
learners, auditory learner
3. OBJECTIVE
Students will be able to discriminate between
separate phonemes, letter – sound relationships,
learn the difference between consonants and
vowels, and how to put these sounds together
correctly.
4. DAY BY DAY
1. Discussion of what the children think phonics is- A
presentation of phonics and phonemic awareness. Students
should have an understanding of what phonics is after this
presentation
2. Students will watch videos on phonics and an activity will be
given for them to reflect on.
3. This day will be reserved for the computer lab. Students will
have a select number of websites and will be able to choose
which one they would like to go to. Each website will have fun
and interesting games to help the students have a better
understanding of phonics.
4. Students will be broken up into centers. Various games will be
given to children to play.
5. Assessment will be given by students reading different
phonemes and separating consonants and vowels in front of
the teacher.
5. USE OF TECHNOLOGY
• Smartboard and projector will be used to view
the phonics presentation.
• Computers will be used to access games in lab
and a computer will be used to view the
Youtube videos.
• Students will rearrange classroom when placed
into centers.
