A- Analyze Learners: The learners or students for this lesson are a 1st grade class special
education class with 10 boys and 7 girls. (7 students have mild to severe ADHD) The students
are 70% white, 20% African-American, and 10% Latino.
S- State Objectives: Students will recite the months of the year in order with a 95% accuracy by
the end of the week after learning the months of the year song and working with the months of
the year on the classroom calendar.
S- Select Methods, Media & Materials: I will be teaching the students the months of the year
song from youtube. We will also be using the class calendar to emphasize the difference between
each months spelling, the order of the months, and which months are apart of which season.
U- Utilize Media and Materials: In the class I may let the children all stand up and dance or
move around while they learn and sing the months of the year song to help the children with
ADHD stay focused.
R- Require Learner Participation: After a few days I would have the students get with a
partner and say the months of the year or sing the song so that each set of partners can check
each other to see if they are correct. I would walk around to supervise and listen to each group.
E- Evaluate and Revise: The students will recite the months of the year in order.
