Kutia is a Ukrainian sweet grain pudding traditionally served on Christmas Eve. It is made from wheat berries, berries, honey or sugar, nuts, raisins, and poppy seeds. In some places, a small bowl of kutia is placed outside as an offering to Father Frost before eating. To make kutia, wheat berries are simmered until tender, then mixed with soaked poppy seeds, dried fruit, honey, nuts and milk or water before chilling.
