3. The school was founded on private initiative in March 1880
and it was recognized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and of
Public Instruction by Decreed No.9743/3.09.1880 as a Mixed
School for Arts and Crafts.
The Education Reform Act of 1948 transforms the Industrial
High school for Boys from Roman in Metallurgical Technical
Metallurgical Secondary School for Boys in Roman.
There are two school units that are opened since 1971:The
“Construction Materials” Vocational School and The Industrial
Secondary School for Construction Materials.
The two school units are united under the same name: School
Group of Construction Materials in Roman since 1991
.
Since 17 September 2007, by a Decree of the Ministry of
Education Research and Youth, the name of the school is
“PetruPoni” Technical College in Roman (Colegiul Tehnic “Petru
Poni”, Roman).

Our school offers to young people in the Roman area the
opportunity to acquire high quality training based on general
cultural knowledge and professional skills training, enabling
students to pursue a profession in their field of study, to
continue their studies in higher education, to integrate
successfully on the labor market in the country or abroad or to
open own businesses.

13. The activity of our students is guided by 77 teachers
permanently concerned with providing all students with a
very good preparation of general knowledge and their
specializations, correlated with the needs of the local
community and with the EU educational standards,
ensuring the social and professional integration of all
graduates.
The students' participation in the Olympics and
competitions or in various projects that take place at the
local, national or international level contributes to the
completion of the learning process, to the complex
development of these students.
The quality of the educational-training process is also
given by the preoccupation of the teaching staff for
personal, professional and career development, facilitating
cooperation with partners in EU education systems,
developing the management skills of international projects,
their openness to international education policies,
practices and systems.
