GENEactiv accelerometers and Trail Running
The document discusses using a GENEActiv accelerometer to monitor trail runners. It describes how the accelerometer was worn on the non-dominant wrist of participants for 48 hours at a frequency of 85.70 Hz. The accelerometer was used to measure four intensities of physical activity - sedentary, light, moderate, and vigorous - based on metabolic equivalents (METs). The results from the accelerometer were downloaded to a spreadsheet file and the percentage of time spent in each intensity range was calculated and plotted for 8 hour intervals throughout the day. Conclusions drew relationships between the plot shape and physical activity levels, estimated energy expenditure, and more.
