The document describes the characters in a film:
- Sarah is the main protagonist and only character with a family, providing a mother figure. Her husband has an affair with Juno.
- Beth is Sarah's best friend and an English teacher, providing support until being killed by Juno after a surprise attack.
- Juno is the leader who faces dangers alone and betrays Sarah's trust by having an affair with her husband.
- Rebecca is the oldest and most protective of her sister Sam.
- Sam is a hard-working university student and Rebecca's younger sister.
- Holly is the most energetic and a daredevil, taking risks without thinking.
2. Sarah: Sarah is the main protagonist within the film.
Sarah is used as a way to progress the story line due to
what happened to her at the start of the film. Sarah is the
only character to have a family meaning she’s the best
example that gives off a mother figure. Also due to
Sarah’s husband having an affair with Juno is another
way of producing a plot twist towards the end of the film.
Beth: Within the film Beth has a career of being an English
teacher making Beth the mature one of the group. Within
the group, Beth is Sarah’s best friend, creating a bond
between them that non of the others have, we know this
because Beth is the only one that supports Sarah when
her husband and daughter dies. However this ends when
Beth is killed by Juno after surprising her from behind.
This only happened because of the recent contact with the
crawlers.
Juno: Juno is the second protagonist within the film. Juno is the leader of the group, taking control of the situation, deciding
which ways to go and what to do. I would say the Juno portrays the strong and independent women of the group. Examples of
this is when Juno faces the crawlers alone and when she leads the group through the cave. In the film Juno is the character that
has an affair with Sarah’s husband, also showing that women can betray each others trust.
Rebecca: Rebecca is Sam’s older sister as well as the oldest of the group. Rebecca is most protective over her sister meaning she
will sacrifice the others to save her, as shown in one of the parts of the film. She is the best example of someone who puts family
above everything else.
Sam: Sam is the youngest of the group as well as the younger sister of Rebecca. Sam is an university student, making her one of
the most hard working one of the group.
Holly: Holly is the most energetic one of the group. Holly is seen as a daredevil in extreme sports due to her jumping into
situations without thinking of the consequences. A perfect example of this is when she falls down a hole and breaks her leg.
Holly is also the tomboy of the group as shown through what she wears and her hair style.
3. This image on the left shows all the group together
staying in a cabin for the night before they go caving.
This is the last time that the girls will enjoy themselves
before they become trapped within the cave fighting
for there lives. You could say that this image is giving
of a stereotypical vibe. It suggests that women usually
have sleep overs in their pajamas and have
stereotypical conversations with each other like
talking about boys and who they like.
Looking at the image you get a warm and cozy
feeling, this is due to the lighting. It make the
audience feel safe.
Within this image on the left we see the group
of friends. The image shows how a women
can change in tough and dark times. Each of
them looks like they could handle themselves
in a fight. The image has been Photo Shopped
to attract the male audience into watching the
film. It also has been edited to make the image
look darker, giving the group a more
empowering look. The image is also attracting
females into watching the film because it
shows that women aren't just delicate.
4. In this image we see Paul ‘Sarah’s husband’ getting a little too close to Juno. This
suggests that Juno and Paul are having and affair. This relationship between Paul and
Juno adds fuel to the fire later on in the film when Sarah finds out. This then in tow
causes Juno’s death. You could also say that this relationship is a kind of
foreshadowing which follows the rules of a horror film ‘Sex = Death’. This is one of the
rules that causes a death in also every single horror film created. The fact that she has
affairs with one of her friends husbands and keeps the secret from everyone else shows
what type of person Juno truly is.
5. The image shows Sarah towards the end of
the film and how she can change by being
trapped and haunted by mother nature.
This image is taken from part of the film
where Sarah kills a few crawlers by herself.
The fact that she can do that by herself truly
shows how much she's changed from when
she was first trapped to now. Its just shows
how much a person can change due to a
bad series of events.
