Shannon is the main character within the opening sequence who is portrayed as a nice, fun teenager.
She likes to chill out with her friends and have sleepovers at her house also. Despite of this, she is
unaware of the danger that she is involved in by going out with boyfriend, Lamar. She is similar to the
character ‘Galleria’ in The Cheetah Girls.

friend.
3. Shannon
In the opening sequence, Shannon is portrayed as weak, innocent and
vulnerable due to being kidnapped by a disguised male. This idea reflects the
feminist view of men being in control and undermining women. This links to
the films ‘Rush Hour’ and ‘Cradle 2 the grave’ whereby young girls (Vanessa
and Soo-yung) are kidnapped in order to get revenge on somebody else.
4. The Girls
This is another character comparison, which is taken from the film ATL. The girls are seen to be
relaxing on the bed with one another and having a girls night in, just like in our opening sequence.
Similarities Differences

tracksuit bottoms. • They are shown to be playing a game.
• The girls are all of a black ethnicity • The girls in our opening sequence look as
if they are going to bed whereas the girls
in the film look nicely done up and one is
seen to be wearing a hat.
