2. Editor
Editors have the biggest role during the post-production faze of producing a
media product, their role is to select the best shots with the help of the
director or the producer and then edit the clips together. Once they’ve got the
basic storyline completed they include the additional visual effects to get a
better and more improved outcome. Editors will also typically have a crew of
editing assistants, in the case of a large production, who have different jobs
of their own. Overall the job of an editor is very important as they piece
everything together and build the finished media product.
3. Equipment
Software: Media Composure
Media Composer is a film and
video editing system which
allows for both offline and
online film editing, including
uncompressed standard
definition video (SD) high
definition (HD) and 2k, 4k and
8k editing and finishing. Some
pieces of editing software they
may also use include Premier
Pro and Final Cut. Overall,
editors tend to focus more on
the digital side of the
production.

4. Skills Needed
Editors have the difficult task of working
inside an edit sweet for long amounts of
hours editing the media product, while
communicating with the director and
producer about how something should
look like. The skills of an editor include
having good organizational skills and
patience, being creative and having
knowledge about the technical aspects of
editing, including being familiar with
some of the more professional pieces of
software used in the industry, and most
importantly to be able to lead a team and
be creative, even under pressure.
5. How Important are the Roles
on the Final Media Product ?
When considering the Final media product, editors have one of the most
important jobs in the post-production. It is also up to the editor to place all of
the chosen shots into a timeline and arrange everything so that its what the
director is looking for. Also, creating the necessary visual effects that a scene
may need, and to a good standard will have a major effect on the final
product. Editors have a huge responsibility that is to piece together a story
from a large range of different clips, adding visuals and creating the finished
product. Overall, both jobs are vital to the media product, although it can be
argued that one is better than the other for a number of reasons. In my
opinion the camera operators are more important than the editors since they
have the responsibility of filming the entire movie and without them it would
be impossible to have a finished product
