This document summarizes ELA predictive results from piloting a new reading program with 5th grade and 3rd grade students. It found that the largest gains were in reading for information and understanding, with more students attaining level 4. Both programs showed high rates of students reaching level 4 in critical analysis and evaluation, though program B lessened the number at level 2. It stresses that teachers must use long-term assessments to strengthen student skills and instruct effectively, and that administration must provide ongoing staff training to support consistency in scheduling, following the program, and monitoring progress.
