The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted all aspects of the learning environment. School closures necessitated a shift to online and hybrid learning models. This change impacted the culture of learning, technologies used for learning, pedagogical designs, and teachers and students. Specifically, collaborative and social learning was disrupted, new technologies had to be adopted, innovative teaching strategies were needed, and rebuilding social presence and cognitive presence online posed challenges. Educators must work to mitigate these issues and ensure minimal disruption to the educational process.
