Volunteering levels have remained broadly stable over time according to surveys from 2001-2015/16, with around 15-20% of people volunteering at least once a month. However, volunteering among young people has been increasing, with more volunteering at least once a month or once a year from 2010-11 to 2015-16. Around 33% of the population engages in both charitable giving and volunteering, representing a 'civic core' in England and Wales.
