Theodore Roosevelt was known for his "Square Deal" policy which aimed to balance the interests of business owners, workers, and consumers. He established many environmental protections including national parks and forests. Roosevelt also broke up many large trusts that had monopolies and pursued antitrust lawsuits. He passed the Pure Food and Drug Act to regulate the safety of foods and medicines. Roosevelt grew the navy and sent the Great White Fleet around the world. After leaving office, he formed the Progressive or "Bull Moose" Party and ran for president again in 1912 as a third party candidate.
