The mouth of cephalopods is located in the buccal mass, a muscular bulb at the beginning of the digestive system. It contains the mouth, beaks, radula, and various glands. The beak, composed of tanned protein and chitin, is situated in the buccal mass and equipped with powerful muscles. Most cephalopods also possess a radula, consisting of several rows of teeth, which helps pull prey into the buccal cavity after it has been attacked and cut by the beaks.
