The central nervous system (CNS) is the part of the nervous system consisting of the brain and spinal cord. The CNS is so named because it integrates the received information and coordinates and influences the activity of all parts of the bodies of bilaterally symmetric animals
complete explanation with amicable pictures regarding CNS stimulants and cognitive enhancers.useful for both UG and PG students.references from different books and authors

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

4. Drugs that have a predominately stimulant effect on the cns may be broadly divided into
1. Respiratory stimulants:
Doxapram
Nikethamide
2.psychomotor stimulants
Amphetamine
Cocaine
Methyxanthine
3.Convulsants:
Leptazol
Strychnine
5.
6.
7.
8. Respiratory stimulants are also called analeptics.
These drugs stimulate respiration and are some
times used to treat respiratory failure.
Though they may bring about temporary
improvement in respiration.
The mortality is not reduced.
They have a low safety margin and may produce
convulsions.
9.
10. Doxapram appears to act mainly on the brain stem
and spinal cord and increase the activity of
respiratory and vasomotor centers.
Adverse effects are
Nausea,
Cough,
Restlessness,
Hypertension,
Tachycardia,
Arrhythmias
Convulsions.
11. uses
Doxapram is occasionally used IV as an
analeptic in acute respiratory failure.
Apnea in premature infants not responding to
Theophylline.
12. nikethamide
Is not used because of the risk of convulsions.
Psychomotor stimulants:
Amphetamine and dextroamphetamine are
sympathomimetic drugs.
23. methylxanthines
Caffeine ,Theophylline and theobromine are
the naturally occurring xanthenes alkaloids.
The beverages –coffee contains ,caffeine, tea
contains Theophylline and caffeine ;coca has
caffeine and theobromine.
24. actions
CNS :caffeine and Theophylline are cns stimulants .
They bring about an increase in mental alertness.
A reduction of fatigue, produce a sense of well –being and
improve motor activity and performance with a clearer flow
thought .
Caffeine stimulates the respiratory center.
Higher doses produce irritability nervousness
,restlessness,insomina,excitement, and headache.
High doses can result inconvulsions.
25. uses
Head ache:
Because of the effect of caffeine on cerebral
blood vessels ,it is combined with ergotamine
for the relief of migraine headache.
Caffeine is also combined with aspirin
/paracetamol for the treatment of headache.
Bronchial asthma: theophylline is used in the
treatment of bronchial asthma.
