Hot / Wet Analyzers
Hot / Wet IR Analytical Systems keep the
process or flue gas at an elevated
temperature that is above the highest dew
point. The probe, sample line and optical
bench are all heated. (180 – 200C).
• CO, CO2, NO, NO2, N2O, NOX, NH3,
SO2, CH4, CH2O, HCl, HF, TOC, H2O, O2
• Common in Combustion Applications
• Requirement for Water Measurement
• Low Level CO, SO2, NO Measurements
• Measurement of Soluble Gases (HCl,
HF, NO2 and NH3)
• High SO3 in Sample Gas
• Reduced Corrosion
Cold / Dry Analyzers
Cold / Dry IR Analytical System cool the
gas before the optical bench to remove or
“knock out” any condensables. The
sample probe and line are heated, but the
gas is cooled to 3-5 C before the analyzer.
• CO, CO2, NO, NO2, N2O, NOX, SO2,
CH4, H2, H2S, O2
• Water Vapor affects some
measurements (IR)
• Removal of corrosive gasses
• Removal of cross interfering /
condensable gases
• Improved sample conditioning and
isolation of desired components
• Temperature stability not as important
Close Coupled
An alternative to in-situ analyzers, a close
coupled extractive system such as a
Hot/Wet UV system can measure low level
NH3, NOX, SO2 and O2, verifying
performance and minimizing ammonia
slip after SNCR and SCR systems.
• Hot/Wet UV or IR Configuration
• CO, CO2, NO, NO2, N2O, NOX,
NH3, SO2, CH4, CH2O, HCl, HF,
TOC, H2O, O2

• Negligible lag time

Shelter Integration
Often cement facilities need a new or
updated CEM system, but do not have a
useable facility close to the stack to house
the equipment.
CEMSI designs and configures the CEM
system around their compliant
requirements and designs and builds
custom shelters to house their gas
conditioning and analytical equipment.
Calibration gases are stored in a separate
room for safety.
Mobile / Portable Analyzers
Portability allows for multiple facility
locations or multiple sites to share the
analyzer to minimize rental costs and
mitigate downtime due to analyzer repair
or maintenance.

Tribo-Electric Dust Monitor
Tribo-electric systems are based on the
charge exchange between the probe and
dust.
Bag house or filters can be monitored to
ensure efficiency and look for problems
such as clogging, heavy dust loads or
broken bags and filters.
Venting from grinders, mills and other
discharge stacks can be monitored for
product loss.
Particulate matter can be monitored in
stacks.
Incoming and Final Inspection
Monitoring incoming ore, additives, final
clinker and blending applications is vital to
ensure both efficient and correct
processes and to minimize give-away
throughout a cement plant.
With NIR or FT-IR CEMSI provides non-
radioactive options for real-time mineral
analysis (CaO, SiO2, Al2O3 , etc) with high
accuracy that can be mounted for
conveyors or airslide applications.
Real-time chemical composition of the
materials allows for the optimal mixture
and process control.
What Proper Integration Means
A cement manufacturing facility
experienced significant downtime and
cost due to breakdowns of the kiln inlet
and outlet gas analyzers.
CEMSI analyzed the gas chemistry, and
realized that the system was not properly
designed. A new sample conditioning
system was designed that utilized existing
and new components in a modified
configuration. By correcting for the
chemistry, the new conditioning system
reduced downtime, maintenance costs
and eliminated future damage to the gas
analyzers.
Maintenance went from 2 days a week, to
a few hours a month, an 80% reduction.

  • 8. Hot / Wet Analyzers Hot / Wet IR Analytical Systems keep the process or flue gas at an elevated temperature that is above the highest dew point. The probe, sample line and optical bench are all heated. (180 – 200C). • CO, CO2, NO, NO2, N2O, NOX, NH3, SO2, CH4, CH2O, HCl, HF, TOC, H2O, O2 • Common in Combustion Applications • Requirement for Water Measurement • Low Level CO, SO2, NO Measurements • Measurement of Soluble Gases (HCl, HF, NO2 and NH3) • High SO3 in Sample Gas • Reduced Corrosion
  • 9. Cold / Dry Analyzers Cold / Dry IR Analytical System cool the gas before the optical bench to remove or “knock out” any condensables. The sample probe and line are heated, but the gas is cooled to 3-5 C before the analyzer. • CO, CO2, NO, NO2, N2O, NOX, SO2, CH4, H2, H2S, O2 • Water Vapor affects some measurements (IR) • Removal of corrosive gasses • Removal of cross interfering / condensable gases • Improved sample conditioning and isolation of desired components • Temperature stability not as important

Close Coupled An alternative to in-situ analyzers, a close coupled extractive system such as a Hot/Wet UV system can measure low level NH3, NOX, SO2 and O2, verifying performance and minimizing ammonia slip after SNCR and SCR systems. • Hot/Wet UV or IR Configuration • CO, CO2, NO, NO2, N2O, NOX, NH3, SO2, CH4, CH2O, HCl, HF, TOC, H2O, O2 • Only one port location • Greater stability • Negligible lag time • Simplified maintenance
  • 11. Shelter Integration Often cement facilities need a new or updated CEM system, but do not have a useable facility close to the stack to house the equipment. CEMSI designs and configures the CEM system around their compliant requirements and designs and builds custom shelters to house their gas conditioning and analytical equipment. Calibration gases are stored in a separate room for safety.

  • 13. Tribo-Electric Dust Monitor Tribo-electric systems are based on the charge exchange between the probe and dust. Bag house or filters can be monitored to ensure efficiency and look for problems such as clogging, heavy dust loads or broken bags and filters. Venting from grinders, mills and other discharge stacks can be monitored for product loss. Particulate matter can be monitored in stacks.

Incoming and Final Inspection Monitoring incoming ore, additives, final clinker and blending applications is vital to ensure both efficient and correct processes and to minimize give-away throughout a cement plant. With NIR or FT-IR CEMSI provides non- radioactive options for real-time mineral analysis (CaO, SiO2, Al2O3 , etc) with high accuracy that can be mounted for conveyors or airslide applications. Real-time chemical composition of the materials allows for the optimal mixture and process control.
  • 15. What Proper Integration Means A cement manufacturing facility experienced significant downtime and cost due to breakdowns of the kiln inlet and outlet gas analyzers. CEMSI analyzed the gas chemistry, and realized that the system was not properly designed. A new sample conditioning system was designed that utilized existing and new components in a modified configuration. By correcting for the chemistry, the new conditioning system reduced downtime, maintenance costs and eliminated future damage to the gas analyzers. Maintenance went from 2 days a week, to a few hours a month, an 80% reduction.
