This document outlines an assignment on the cellular pathology of tuberculosis (TB). It includes the following: 1) The purpose is for students to examine how cellular pathology can be used to diagnose, determine treatment, and monitor TB progression by comparing normal and diseased structures. 2) The task is to define cellular pathology and describe how various TB tests (e.g. Mantoux testing, chest x-rays, sputum samples) are used to identify latent vs. active TB at the cellular level. 3) An additional task is to write a 1,000-word essay discussing the link between the biochemistry of the respiratory system and how biochemical malfunctions cause TB progression.
