1. Basic Parts of an Animal Cell BioBrain: Integrating Technology with Life
2. This is a file from the Wikimedia Commons. Diagram showing these parts in an animal cell: nucleus. Original diagram taken from Image:Celltypes.png and edited with the drawing package in OpenOffice.org. Modifications made by Jim Thomas, 26 May, 2006.

5. What is Cytoplasm & What is its Function Jelly-like fluid that fills the gap between the nucleus and the plasma membrane. Structures inside a cell are suspended in this solution. Maintains the shape and consistency of the cell. It stores many chemicals that are inevitable for life
6. What is the Nuclear Membrane & What is its Function The double membrane enclosing DNA and any other genetic material. To regulate in and out movement of only specific substances. Prevents the nucleus from collapsing and hence it's effective in holding nucleus together. Acts as a security check.
7. What is the Cell Membrane & What is its Function Separates the interior of a cell from outside environment. Transports materials needed for the functioning of the cell organelles. Cell membrane is semi permeable and controls the in and out movements of substances. Gives shape to the cell.
8. What is the Nucleus & What is its Function Spherical shaped organelle containing the genetic material. Controls all functions of the cell.
9. What are Ribosomes & What are their Functions? Composed of ribonucleic acid (abbreviated as RNA) and proteins. Provides a site for protein synthesis, (the creation of the polypeptide chains).
