2. Ownership
Celador is a company that was found by Paul Smith and Jasper Carrot. The
Celador company was formed in 1981. The first tv shows that were made were
comedies such as the detectives. This was done Jasper Carrot. In that time they
started doing television shows. One of the shows they made were “Who Wants
to Be a Millionaire?”. This show was one of the best TV shows they owned in
the company. Celador Entertainment company started expand into Television
shows, films, radio station ownership and operation. In 2004 Celador company
went to take legal action against “The Walt Disney Company.” The reason why
they took legal action against the other company is because there were unpaid
profits from Disney’s licensing of the programme. In 2010 the Celador
company was given $269m after Disney giving the company a fair share of
profits. They used the money that they received to become a successful
company.
3. Operating Model
There were many ways Celador company go about making films. One of them were they
done a collaborate with other companies for examples Film4. The reason why they done
a collaborate with the company because film4 owned book rights to Slumdog
Millionaire for the movie adaption and Celador were the company that owned the rights
to How Wants to Be a Millionaire. The reason why both company would work together
because so it will stop one the companies wouldn’t sue each other at the time both
companies didn’t know what they were doing so they decided to co-financed.
The BBC needed to make 7 films a year as part of the tv license fee this is an option they
can try. The BBC have to give some money to the films because it was part of the agree
and this gives the company co-funding agreement.
BFI they give out funding through the lottery
They sold the distribution rights to Pathe to allow them to use them to make the
Descent movie. This is an unusual way to fund a film and but by doing this it allowed to
release the film in America and UK.

6. Market Position
The film The Descent was made by the Caledor company. The budget that was needed to
make this film was £3.5 million. The amount of money the film made when it was released in
America box office was $57.1 million. Spider-man 1 was made by Sony Pictures
Entertainment and it was released in 2002, same year as “The Descent.” The budget for
spider-man was $139 million and the total money it made when it was release to box office
was $821.7 million. Sony Pictures Entertainment made a lot more money releasing Spider-
man 1 compare to Caledor when they released “The Descent.” The reason why spider-man 1
made more than The descent is because spider-man 1 was shown globally but The Descent
was released to the UK and USA. This was targeting a smaller audience. Once Upon a Time
in the Midlands is a film made by film4. This film was released in 2002 just like the other
films spider-man and The Descent. The budget for Once Upon a Time in the Midlands was
£1,950,00 million. When the film was released in America box office the amount of money it
made was $21,475,31. This film made less money than the other two films spider-man and
The Descent. So really this film didn’t reach out to it target audience as much the other
films.
