Description
 This specie is 15_18cm long.
 They are more different than their close relatives Bohemian
waxwing in size.
 They are known as bombycilla due to their silky soft plumage
 Males and females are look similar.
 The cedar waxwing is extinct specie.
 They are often seen in flocks.
 Sound of water attract them.
Appearance
 They have beautiful prominent crest.
 Adults are less intensley colored & lack red feathers
 Juveniles are marked with dusky streaks.
 Cedar waxwing has large pale brown head, short neck,
and short, wide bill.
 The wings are broad and sharp and grey short tail and
square-tipped.
 Their plumage is light yellow.
Appearance

They are found in North and Central
America, breeding in open wooded
areas in southern Canada and
wintering in the southern half of the
United States, Central America, and
winter visitors in Pakistan, India,
Nepal, Bangladesh and the
Philippines.
Habitat
They are present in berry
trees at the edge of wooded
areas or open forest, fruiting
trees, Shrubs, shallow
streams, gardens, parks,
Bushes of trees and orchard
farms.
Vocalization
They produce
sound during flight.
Their call can be
described as a sree
thin, whistle.
Behaviors
Feeding
 They feed mostly in large group.
 They eat berries, and sugary fruit year-
round, including
dogwood, serviceberry, cedar, juniper,
hawthorn, and winterberry
 They often catch insects which are
seen over water.
Behaviors
Flight
They fly like tubby, slightly clumsy
swallows.
Their flight is direct and strong.
They are mostly fly in flocks.
They fly at an altitude of 2000ft.

Breeding
 Matting season begins from spring and run through late summer.
 Males attract females by hopping dance for matting.
 During matting they rub their beaks.
 The nest built with grass which are loose.
 Mostly 6 eggs are laid and the female incubates them for 2weaks.
 Young bird emigrate the nest about 14 to 18 days after
incubating.


  • 11. Behaviors Feeding  They feed mostly in large group.  They eat berries, and sugary fruit year- round, including dogwood, serviceberry, cedar, juniper, hawthorn, and winterberry  They often catch insects which are seen over water.

Behaviors Breeding  Matting season begins from spring and run through late summer.  Males attract females by hopping dance for matting.  During matting they rub their beaks.  The nest built with grass which are loose.  Mostly 6 eggs are laid and the female incubates them for 2weaks.  Young bird emigrate the nest about 14 to 18 days after incubating. 
