The courage to business logic – Business Driven Architecture OPEN KNOWLEDGE GmbH
Unfortunately, the architectures of business applications are highly influenced by technology and infrastructure, even in 2016. Services and controllers are passed through the layers via Injection. Generators based on XML configurations or DSL’s create Voodoo code. Helpers (a.k.a. Managers or Utils) encapsulate major parts of the business logic. The more complex the application becomes and the more confusing the team structures is, the more difficult it gets to read the actual business logic from the source code. This works out well until the first error in the business logic or the first change request occurs. That’s when chaos starts. Normally only some small changes to the application are enough to put the focus back onto the business logic again. This session shows how to get to an architecture based on the business logic with only a few means. Wow-effects are guaranteed!"

The early church prayed with one voice and boldness to God after facing persecution for preaching about Jesus. They asked God for courage to continue preaching his word with boldness and for signs and wonders to accompany their message. God answered their prayer by shaking the place where they were meeting and filling them with the Holy Spirit, empowering them to speak God's word with boldness as Jesus' servants.
Both women and men need to address life's two big questions, but we find ourselves unprepared, untrained, and often unwilling to do so. This presentation offers a way to begin. Presented at the East Tennessee Women's Leadership Summit.
Leaders require courage to act during crises, compassion for those suffering, and involvement on the front lines. They must maintain conviction in their beliefs without wavering and control without panicking in the face of conflict. True leadership honors those who came before in fighting for shared beliefs and values.
This slideshow discusses different types of courage, focusing on the courage required to do the right thing or overcome personal obstacles. It provides examples like a woman who stood up for civil rights despite opposition, soldiers who risk their lives to protect others, rescue workers who help during disasters, and cancer patients who fight their illness. The presentation aims to show courage in standing up for what is right and hopes to inspire viewers to show courage in their own lives.

People may discourage courageous actions due to fear of failure or being left behind, as well as jealousy. However, courage is needed when facing change like ending relationships, job loss, or outdated careers. While external factors like surroundings account for 20% of life, our choices and attitudes determine 40% each - with the right attitude, we can choose our direction freely and unlock our genius through open-minded education.

Joshua was put in charge of leading Israel into the Promised Land after Moses died. He was told to be strong and courageous. Joshua would need courage to divide the land fairly among the tribes, obey God's law fully without compromise, and continue leading despite facing opposition. He was commanded to execute anyone who rebelled against his authority. Christian leaders today also require courage to obey God, defend sound doctrine against false teachings, and continue standing up for the truth in the face of resistance.

'Quadruple Helix' DNA in Human Cells Discovered and A Relative from the ...Cristian Meneses
The document discusses two recent discoveries:
1) Researchers discovered "Quadruple Helix" DNA structures in human cells, which could form in cancer cells and block cell division.
2) An international team extracted DNA from a 40,000 year old leg bone found in a Chinese cave, finding it was similar to DNA of present-day Asians and Native Americans. This suggests humans from that time were related to certain modern populations.

'Quadruple Helix' DNA in Human Cells Discovered and A Relative from the ...Cristian Meneses
A group of researchers from Cambridge University discovered quadruple helix DNA structures in human cells, especially in guanine-rich regions of DNA. They identified that these structures form in cancer cells and are related to DNA replication. An international team extracted nuclear and mitochondrial DNA from a 40,000 year old leg bone found in a Chinese cave, finding it was similar to present-day Asian and Native American DNA. This shows DNA can be used to make morphological comparisons between ancient and modern humans.
The document discusses ways to attract and address a target audience of young adults aged 15-24 for a two-minute film opening. It focuses on using dialogue, costumes, music, and settings that young people can relate to. The dialogue uses slang spoken in East London. Eating low-calorie and fat-free foods has become a trend among Indian youth. While in the past, richer foods were seen as healthier, now people believe that lower calorie options are trendier. Many people choose low-calorie foods and drinks not because of health concerns but to project an image of being health-conscious and fit. In reality, their motivation is to appear cool by eating diet foods.

The document discusses how the magazine MMR challenges conventions of real music magazines. It uses conventions like a bold masthead, cover lines featuring band names, and a three-color scheme. However, it also challenges conventions by using an acronym for its name similar to NME, calling its contents page "MMR This Week" instead of just "Contents", and placing the subscription information in a large font to draw attention. Throughout the magazine, it experiments with different fonts and layouts to make the content more interesting for readers.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

CAKE: Sharing Slices of Confidential Data on BlockchainClaudio Di Ciccio
Presented at the CAiSE 2024 Forum, Intelligent Information Systems, June 6th, Limassol, Cyprus.
Synopsis: Cooperative information systems typically involve various entities in a collaborative process within a distributed environment. Blockchain technology offers a mechanism for automating such processes, even when only partial trust exists among participants. The data stored on the blockchain is replicated across all nodes in the network, ensuring accessibility to all participants. While this aspect facilitates traceability, integrity, and persistence, it poses challenges for adopting public blockchains in enterprise settings due to confidentiality issues. In this paper, we present a software tool named Control Access via Key Encryption (CAKE), designed to ensure data confidentiality in scenarios involving public blockchains. After outlining its core components and functionalities, we showcase the application of CAKE in the context of a real-world cyber-security project within the logistics domain.
