2. Praying for Boldness
It’s Not Easy Being Bold
Boldness – (parrhēsia) freedom in speaking,
unreservedness in speech; free and fearless confidence,
cheerful courage, boldness, assurance.
3. Prayed with One Voice
Act 4:23-24 And being let go, they went to
Acts 4:18 their own companions and reported all that
the chief priests and elders had said to them.
(24) So when they heard that, they raised
their voice to God with one accord and said:
"Lord, You are God, who made heaven and
earth and the sea, and all that is in them,

4. Prayed with One Voice
Act 4:23-24 And being let go, they went to their own
companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had
said to them. (24) So when they heard that, they raised their
voice to God with one accord and said: "Lord, You are God, who
made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them,
One accord – (homothumadon) with one mind, with one accord,
with one passion. (Thayer)

5. Prayed with One Voice
Act 4:23-24 And being let go, they went to their own companions
and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.
(24) So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with
one accord and said: "Lord, You are God, who made heaven and
earth and the sea, and all that is in them,
Their Voice – (singular) one collective voice – they spoke the
same thing.
Romans 15:5-6 Do we speak with one voice –
Elders, deacons, preacher,
members, etc.
6. Prayed to the Supreme Ruler of all Men
Act 4:24-28 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God
with one accord and said: "Lord, You are God, who made heaven and
earth and the sea, and all that is in them, (25) who by the mouth of
Your servant David have said: 'WHY which means more literally one
Lord here from the word despotēs , DID THE NATIONS RAGE,

8. Prayed to Speak the Word with Boldness
Act 4:29-31 NKJV Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your
servants that with all boldness they may speak (PAN) Your word, (30)
by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be
done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus." (31) And when
they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was
shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke
(IAI) the word of God with boldness.

Servant – (Paidos) can mean either child
or servant such as a King’s attendant. Philippians 2:5-11
Here servant better, same as “Your
servant David” in verse 25.
10. Prayed to Speak the Word with Boldness
God does answer prayers
1. The place was shaken – literally
2. Fig. Determination of the early church shook the world
3. May we pray to shake the world today
4. May we with the mind of Christ lift up one voice to
God to speak the Word of God.
