                 CASE SYNOPSIS:
TESTIMONY OF STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY

            DR. ADITYA PATNEY, MDS
CONSULTANT MAXILLOFACIAL AND DENTAL RADIOLOGIST

                                             1
• A 24 year
  old female
  was referred
  to us for an
  overall
  evaluation of
  the
  maxillofacial
  region. She
  presented
  with facial
  asymmetry
  & dental
  malocclusion

                  2
• i-CAT™ CBCT scanning
  of maxilla and mandible
  was performed for
  evaluation and
  assessment of the
  dentition, jaws and
  condyles. An ultra low
  radiation dose scan was
  done

                            3
Tru-PAN™ panoramic reconstruction demonstrated
impacted 28, 36, 38 and 46
                                                 4
• Perceptible asymmetry was observed in comparison of the
two hemimandibles with the right side evidently larger in the
  body and angle regions.

                                                                  5
• True 3D distance measurement was performed
with i-CAT s/w in the angle region bilaterally to
confirm the same (Right side: 30.41mm, left side:
  24.78mm).

                                                      6
• Hawk beak morphology of the condyles was
visualized bilaterally and the joint space was
found to be increased on both the sides
                                                   7
• Remarkable flattening of the articular surface of left
  condylar head was observed
• These features were suggestive of condylar hypoplasia
                                                       8
• 36 was impacted closer to the lingual cortex as
compared to the buccal cortex. The mandibular
canal appeared to be buccal to the tooth.

                                                    9
• 46 was impacted almost in the middle of the
buccolingual extension of the mandible with the
mandibular canal coursing in proximity to the roots.
                                                         10
