Reaching Teen Girls with Pop Music Magazine
1.
2. My target audience is females aged 13-17 years of middle class who like
pop music. They like pop singers like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Justin
Bieber and bands such as JLS and The Wanted. They like stars who are
about the same age as them because they find it easier to identify with
them. They are interested in music, fashion, beauty and celebrity gossip.
They enjoy reading music magazines such as Top of the pops.
3. The musical genre of my magazine is going to be pop, and it will include artists
such as Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber as the target audience (girls
aged 13-17) would like this type of music. I know this because I have carried out a
questionnaire asking my target audience which artists they preferred, and Justin
Bieber, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry got the most votes.
4. I intend to use feminine, pastel colours – pink, lilac, yellow and white – as this
would appeal to the target audience. I intend to watch the model’s clothing
with the colour scheme.
This is a draft of the cover of my magazine layout.
I plan to use a medium close up of the model
using direct address and will put most of the
information on the left hand side. Throughout my
magazine I will use a variety of images with
different compositions to add variety so it does not
look boring. My feature article will be an interview
with an artist who would be popular with my target
audience – I have chosen to do an interview
because my target audience is interested in
celebrity gossip.
5. I have chosen to use one of the above fonts as my masthead. I have chosen these
three fonts because they all have a feminine style which would fit the genre of my
magazine. They are all quite bold type faces and are easy to read.
I will use a few different font styles to add some variety to my front cover, however I
will make sure that each type face complement each other’s style.
