The IT team is introducing 3D printing. 3D printing is a new technology that creates 3D objects by laying down successive layers of material using an additive manufacturing process. It began in the 1980s and 1990s when MIT developed the technology and CAD software to aid in machinery for additive manufacturing rather than traditional subtractive methods of manufacturing. There are three main methods for 3D printing: Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Stereo-lithography (SLA), and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS).
