SALUTATIONS
Good day Dreamweaver.
We’re going to look at the success of Disney. I promise, no animated animals we attempt to clean your
house whilst you read this and nor will you get swept of your feet by Prince Charming.
Instead, we’ll look at their marketing magic and try and answer WHY do most people love Disney.
Enjoy.

WHYWHY DO YOU LOVE DISNEY
FILMS?
Here we’re going to focus on the Limbic System. This is the part of
the brain were we experience and express emotions.

WHY
WHY DOYOU LOVE DISNEY FILMS?
In every Disney story we see hero and villain. We all align
ourselves to the good and this allows us to feel safe and
protected by them.
We all experience these emotions when watching a Disney
film. In parts they makes us happy or sad, we fear for the
safety of hero and we love a happy ending. We build a
bond with these characters on screen, and emotionally
connect with the songs and their soundtracks.
SCIENCE
There’s another region of the limbic system; is a structure
found at the heart of the forebrain and is responsible for
emotion processing, such as fear, sadness, disgust,
happiness, and pleasure.
Within the limbic system sits the a part of the brain which
represent the region in charge of the affective system,
which is responsible for many of our judgments, such as
discerning between good and bad, safe and threatening,
and friend and foe.

Life Lessons
Children watch the trials and sacrifices of
the hero involved and learn from them.
Emotional Connections
In the WHY, we already know that Disney
films connect with us and this stays with us
in to adulthood.
Parental Influence
As an adult, we grew up with Disney films
and, naturally, want to pass these emotional
connections to our children.
Escapism
It’s healthy to get lost in a film. To put on hold
your adult life and be thankful for a
momentary distraction.

ENDWHAT DO WE KNOW NOW?
Disney works hard to deliver beloved experiences to both children
and parents through connecting them to characters on an emotional
level (through the Limbic System). They ensure that the stories they
tell remain relevant over time, so they can be passed from generation
to generation.
And, the cycle continues…
