Referred pain, also known as reflective pain, is pain perceived in a location other than where the painful stimulus originates. There are several proposed mechanisms to explain referred pain, with the convergence-projection theory being the most widely accepted. This theory suggests that afferent nerve fibers from different structures converge on the same spinal cord neurons, resulting in pain being perceived elsewhere. Other mechanisms like central sensitization may also play a role in referred pain. Certain organs have characteristic referred pain patterns, such as cardiac pain often radiating to the left arm, helping clinicians diagnose conditions.
CARTILAGE
Cartilage is a connective tissue composed of cells called chondrocytes embedded in an extracellular matrix. There are three main types of cartilage - hyaline, elastic, and fibrocartilage. Hyaline cartilage is found in joints, respiratory airways, and growing bones. It contains type II collagen and proteoglycans that allow it to bear mechanical stress and provide cushioning. Chondrocytes maintain the extracellular matrix by synthesizing its components. Cartilage grows through both interstitial and appositional growth and has limited ability for repair due to its avascular nature.

Introduction to upper limb

The clavicle

Scalp
The scalp consists of 5 layers - skin, connective tissue, aponeurosis, loose areolar tissue, and pericranium. The clinically important layer is the aponeurosis, as lacerations through this layer can cause gaping of the wound requiring suturing. The scalp receives innervation from the trigeminal and cervical nerves and is supplied by the supratrochlear, supraorbital, zygomaticotemporal, auriculotemporal, lesser occipital, and greater occipital nerves.

The axilla is the pyramid-shaped space between the upper arm and chest. It contains nerves, blood vessels, and lymph nodes passing between the neck and upper limb. The axilla is bound by the chest wall medially, muscles anteriorly and posteriorly, and the humerus laterally. Within the axilla run the axillary artery and vein, as well as the brachial plexus nerves. The axillary artery branches several times within the axilla to supply the surrounding muscles and skin.

- 2. Cadaver: A dead human body that may be used by physicians and other scientists to study anatomy Identify disease sites Determine causes of death Provide tissue to repair a defect in a living human being. Students in medical schools study and dissect cadavers as part of their education.
- 3. Cadaver is our First teacher and without its availability Medical Education would come to a standstill. This effort was made because of BODY DONORS for their magnanimous and selfless act, as without even knowing to whom they are offering their body and the students not being aware of the name of the donors they are doing it for the furtherance of medical education and research.
- 4. Working with human material requires respect and sensitivity Care of cadavers The cadaver should be kept moist at all times. The cadaver is covered with gauze rolls dipped in embalming fluid. The students should only uncover the area they are studying
- 5. Cadavers are embalmed with a fluid containing glycerin, ethyl alcohol and phenol. Physical contact of one’s skin and clothing with the cadaver should be avoided The students are required to wear disposable gloves at all times while working in the dissection hall. Non-latex/powderless gloves for dissection.
- 6. A white coat/apron should be worn while working with the cadaver. Contact lenses should not be worn in the dissection hall, because the lenses can absorb chemical vapors. Food and drinks are not allowed in the dissection hall Proper use and handling of the dissection instruments should be carefully maintained
- 7. Preservation of the tissues and organs All tissues removed from the cadaver must be collected and placed in the designated containers or tray. No body parts, tissue, etc. should be removed from the dissection hall. The excess liquid that has accumulated on the dissection table should be drained into the bucket located under the table.
- 8.
