C was created at Bell Labs between 1969-1973 and was influenced by the B programming language. The first edition of "The C Programming Language" book was published in 1978 and defined the K&R C standard. Objective-C was created in the early 1980s by Brad Cox and Tom Love, aiming to add Smalltalk-like capabilities to C for reusability while maintaining compatibility. C++ was developed by Stroustrup at Bell Labs in the early 1980s by enhancing C with features from Simula to support large software development, choosing C due to its popularity, speed and portability.
