CE.2.2.2. In a developing country such as Indonesia, power stations play an important role in the
economy especially for specific and crucial industries in each island and city. The power station
needs to be maintained to be as efficient as possible so the electricity can be distributed equally to
each island and city. Besides equal distribution, it also needs to reduce power supply interruption
and to minimize power loss to each location in specific time frames. The lecturer advised us to
create an automated electrical unit system to cascade with the power grid to automatically
distribute in each location or crucial area/industry. This problem had interested me and my team
and we started to discuss each possibility to resolve the problem and what kind of suitable system
would work. I investigated these tasks and problem through reading some journals and books to

Brothers Drake Meadery
Overview
For our Gemba paper, we choose to take an inside look at how Brothers Drake Meadery, an urban
producer of wines made from honey, produces meads and creates its local business. In order to
put forward useful suggestions from a better understanding about the production process, we
visited Brothers Drake Meadery located on 26 E 5th Ave. Brothers Drake Meadery s business
contains meadery, bar, event space for rent, and venue for live music event.
As a popular wine among tourists and wine lovers in Columbus, mead not only uses local
ingredients and supplies for brewing, but also is only distributed locally. Mead is that uses. Using
honey as its primary source, mead as an ancient beverage is considered to be the ancestor of all

Mr. Meadery has great passion for mead; as a matter of fact, he sees the recipe generation part as
the most important part of his business. It is indeed this unique, innovative process that supports his
business; however, it is undeniable that there are some problems generating from this process.
On the one hand, the random new recipe testing schedule wastes lots of time, and sometimes
makes it fail to meet customer demand on time. The production process is relatively standard,
which asks for a long time for brewing and aging. However, once staffs start to produce new mead,
they can only make one flavor at a time in the whole metal container.
On the other hand, all labor forces are assigned to keep producing the mead due to Mr. Meadery s
focus on increasing the utilization of existing equipment. However, the bottling is quite a labor
intensive process that will cost lots of money to employ more labors.
Besides, stores that sell their bottled mead do not have good sales plan, which makes Brothers
Drake Meadery fail to track the sales of each flavor and make better plans for next production.

The Rime Of An Ancient Mariner Analysis
Samuel Taylor Coleridge s The Rime of an Ancient Mariner is a poem, in which a Mariner tells his
story of a supernatural encounter with spirits and a higher being identified as God to an
unsuspecting wedding guest. The Mariner is able to tell his story through a pattern of God s aid,
wrath and forgiveness. Through the use of a higher beings aid, wrath and forgiveness the poem
demonstrates a moral which can mostly be confirmed with symbols throughout the poem. The poem
demonstrates the aid of a higher being when the Albatrossis introduced in lines 63 66 stating At
length did cross an Albatross, Thorough the fog it came; As if it had been a Christian soul, We
hailed it in God s name. These lines explain how the presence of the Albatross was seen as a
good omen and was praised as if it was sent from God. An alive Albatross could very well have
been seen as a heavenly figure because it has characteristics that embody holy symbols. A white
albatross can be compared to peace, serenity, and safety; these characteristics can be accurately
confirmed because it brought good luckto the sailors. This is confirmed in lines 69 72 stating The
ice did split with a thunder fit; The helmsman steer d us through! And a good south wind sprung
up behind; The Albatross did follow, . The good fortune of the shipmates and their journey are
confirmed in lines 71 74 stating And a good wind sprung up behind; The Albatross did follow,
And every day, for food or play, Came to the mariners hollo! . This also shows that when the sailors
decided to protect the Albatross all of them were protected as well. The Albatross is not only a
symbol of good fortune, but also God s aid because it was seen as a help to the sailors when they
were in trouble.
The wrath of a higher being is demonstrated in the poem following the death of the Albatross.
The Albatross is killed by the Mariner in lines 81 82, which say With my cross bow I shot the
Albatross . The Mariner shooting the Albatross with his crossbow on impulse is not only a sign of
evil but is a plain gesture of disrespect on the gift of aid that was recognized as an offering from
God. A crossbow has a similar shape to a cross which has a heavy significance in religion, seeing as

It Is Now The Year 2017, And There Is Still Inequality
It is now the year 2017, and there is still inequality in the workplace; there are jobs that are
geared toward specific genders, and there is still a pay difference between men and women. There
are many great reasons why gender equality should be in effect in the workplace. Not only is it
morally fair to have the same opportunities available to both genders, but equality also stimulates
the economy, the national economic growth, and productivity. There are many positive outcomes
with equality in the workplace but there is still conflict, mainly from the heads of companies when
it comes to hiring of the employees. The decisions made on hiring should not be swayed to a gender
, but unfortunately, sometimes it is. The positives and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Sandberg blames women for the pay difference and says it the women s work ethic
that can help solve the problem. Subsequently, Dill states that less than 1% of jobs on the salary
list had an even pay difference between men and women (Dill). An example of a job that pays
even for both genders is an event coordinator. Besides an event coordinator and a few other jobs,
there are not many with an even pay rate for men and women. Although most jobs pay men more
than women, there are a few jobs where female employees make more than their male colleagues.
Physician Advisers and social workers make $1.08 for every dollar a man makes, there are a few
jobs that are skewed the other way but most of them are toward men(Dill). The point is that these
stats need to change and become more even. The more even the stats are, the better. Sandberg and
Stampler would also agree, that there should be many opportunities and should be even for both
genders.
Furthermore, Laura Stampler wrote about the gender divide that young woman face in the
workplace. Stampler is a writer for Time; in her article, she focuses on the millennial generation.
She explains that more women than men enter the workforce with at least four years of college
under their belts (Stampler). This means that more women are being prepared

The Woman Warrior, Maxine Hong Kingston
In The Woman Warrior, Maxine Hong Kingston crafts a fictitious memoir of her girlhood among
ghosts. The book s classification as a memoir incited significant debate, and the authenticity of her
representation of Chinese American culture was contested by Asian American scholars and authors.
The Woman Warrior is ingenuitive in its manipulation of the autobiographical genre. Kingston
integrates the value of storytelling in her memoir and relates it to dominant themes about silence,
cultural authenticity, and the cultivation of identity. Throughout her work, Kingston reaches a
variety of conclusions about the stories her mother told her by writing interpretations of her

She considers that some man had commanded her to lie with him and be his secret evil. (Kingston
6). Kingston writes her initial version of the No Name Woman, who was raped, raided, and died an
outcast, but Kingston determines that this telling does not fit her understanding of China. Therefore,
Kingston entertains another hypothetical, that her aunt took a lover and saved him from shame by
giving silent birth and not revealing the lover s identity (Kingston 11). Here, Kingston critically
examines the inherited talk story of her mother to determine the meaning she should obtain from
the death of her aunt. Her mother s conclusion is that she must not become pregnant, but Kingston
is uncertain about the simplicity of her mother s story. In the No Name Woman, Kingston
introduces the fictitious memoir structure that she utilizes through the variety of interpretations of
her aunt s story. Consistently through the memoir, Kingston writes contrasting accounts of the
same stories and imagines the stories of others to further her themes about silence, authenticity, and
identity formation.
Kingston begins The Woman Warriorby writing a story which started with her mother insisting that
she must not tell anyone...what I am about to tell you. (Kingston 3). Kingston s first written words
are a defiance of this silencing. Silence is a motif that permeates the entirety of The Woman
Warrior; Kingston

End Of The Minoans Essay
Rulers, Religion, The End Of The Minoans
The Minoans didn t mind mixing religion with politics. In fact, the rulers of Crete were called
priest kings, which means they served as both the religious and political leaders of their people.
The priest kings represented the gods and made laws. Each priest king would often climb to the
top of Mount Juktas to look for signs from the gods. Then, the priest king would tell his people
what the gods wanted them to do.
The Minoans had many gods, which made them polytheists (People who believe in many gods

Naphthalene And Salicylic Acid Lab Report
The purpose of this experiment is to separate a mixture of salicylic acid and naphthalene using
extraction, recrystallization and sublimation techniques. Extraction is the separation of compounds
from a mixture based on their relative solubilities in different solvents. Sublimation is the process
of separation by which a substance transitions from the solid phase into the gas phase, skipping the
liquidphase. Recrystallization involves dissolving a substance in an appropriate solventthen
crystallizing it as it cools (impurities remain in solution). The melting points of the substances
were determined in order to assess their purity and the percent recovery of pure naphthalene and
salicylic acid were calculated. According to the results, the melting point of pure naphthalene was
between 86В°C 89В°C range, whereas for pure salicylic acid was 167В°C 170В°C. Both
determined melting points were higher compared to the literature value of 80.26В°C and
158.6В°C for pure naphthalene and salicylic acid respectively. Lastly, the percent recovery for pure
naphthalene and salicylic acid were 17.7% and 71.2% accordingly. In this experiment were used
three separation techniques: extraction, sublimation and recrystallization. During the first method,
0.70 g sample of salicylic acid naphthalene mixture was dissolved in 10 ml of diethyl ether. The
solution was placed in a separatory funnel and 10 ml of saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate

War Poetry In Pity By Wilfred Owen And Siegfried Sassoon
Amongst the different genres of poetry that we can find, war poetry has been one which proved
to generate great interest from people around the world. The idea of war is in itself very terrible
and any individual can confidently say that no one would want to face the horrors of it.
However, it was not presented in this manner prior and during the build up to World War I. It was
common to find that many people were sugar coating war with the idea of pride yet they were not
discussing the dreadful experiences on the battle fields. This is why poets such as Wilfred Owenand
Siegfried Sassoonemerged; to react against the propaganda that the people were bombarded with.

The former poem echoes the biblical imagery from the story of Abraham and his son Isaac with
slight changes to supply details which makes it seem to have taken place in an era of modern
warfare. However, since my main focus is showing Owen s sense of pity that people believe the
hypocrisy and propaganda of pro war individuals as well as highlighting the soldiers terrible
treatment, I would like to focus on the staggering last rhyming couplets. The poem twists the
ending from that of the bible, as instead of following the instructions of the angel advising him
not to kill his son Isaac and to kill the Ram of Pride instead, Abram opts not to listen and kills
Isaac. Owen writes the old man would not so, but slew his son,/ And half the seed of Europe, one
by one . Isaac and the seed of Europe are metaphors for the soldiers, while Abram represents the
church and the people who have the power to end war. This highlights the pity of the innocent

Mi Brain Design Techniques
3. Proposed Technique
Intuitively, if we can precisely locate the tumor region in the MRI image and recognize the
corresponding shape as well, then we will obtain a high performance algorithm, also if we can
take only a few features from this region, then we will obtain an algorithm with a low complexity
compared with the previous algorithms. This section describes an overview of all fundamental
processes in our brain diseases classification system. These processes are generally referred to as
image preprocessing, image segmentation, feature extraction and classification respectively see
Fig.3.

3.2 Image Segmentation The proposed model performs the segmentation process using clustering
method which is considered an efficient segmentation technique. Clustering is the process of
classifies objects into different groups and classes. In clustering the data is classified according
to a common features shared between the object and the target class. The process of portioning
data into a number of subsets is often referred to as supervised learning or clustering. K means is
one of clustering techniques designed and used in many approaches [4]. K means is generally
used to determine the natural groupings of pixels present in an image. K means is considered to be
one of the best unsupervised clustering and classification techniques, also it s considered a very fast
technique compared with other algorithms. The aim of using K means is to classify each pixel to it
s one or more data classes by calculating the distance between the input pixel with the other pixels in
the clustering window. Fig.5 shows the result of applying the clustering technique on an MRI
image containing tumor and the resulted image showing the image after extracting the tumor
region only without any noise or other regions.
3.3 Feature Extractions
Once we get the tumor region now we can get some features from the segmented image that can
help us in classifying the disease that the MRI image suffers from. The feature extraction process
consists mainly of two stages which are, feature

An Analysis Of Ernest Hemingway s The Short Happy Life...
Ernest Hemingway has long been known for his two heroes in his writing. The hero who is a
weak, pathetic individual who is often lost physically and mentally, and the code hero who usually
shows grace under pressure and helps the Hemingway hero find his place. These two heroes often
come together in a relationship where the code hero is the teacher who initiates the Hemingway
hero into the code. Ernest Hemingways short story, The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber, is
the quintessential example of Hemingway s heroes. In The Short Happy life of Francis
Macomber, Macomber has flown to Africa for his most recent hunting endeavor. He is

She simply doesn t care what her husband thinks because she knows he will not leave her. This
can clearly be seen when she returns home to the tent and is simply too tired to talk to Francis
about the night. The repeated used of the words too tired is an indication that the manly Wilson
did a good job with Margot. All of Francis Macomber s cowardice would disappear however; on
the buffalo hunt. The morning of the hunt had arrived and Macomber was ready. The minutes of
the actual attack were over before Macomber knew it. The car saw the buffalo, he and Wilson
got out, and the shooting began. Once the three buffalo were down Macomber felt a drunken
elation. He immediately said to Wilson, Let s go to the car, I want a drink. This is the climax in
Macomber s becoming a man. Early on in the story Macomber was satisfied with a gimlet, but
now he wants to celebrate with whisky, a true man s drink. Macomber repeatedly says, let s have
a drink, lets have a drink. He had never felt so good in his entire life. True symbolism occurs when
the men find out that the first buffalo, the one Macomber shot, isn t actually dead. I think
Hemingway did this as a second chance for the lion incident. Now; however,

Convergent evidence from longitudinal studies on dyslexia supports this causal hypothesis.
Scarborough (1990) identified PA and LK as candidate causal factors by reporting weakness in
these two factors in pre readers who later became dyslexic. However, dyslexic children in the
study were less intelligent than normal readers, which cast doubt on the findings. Results from
Scarborough s study are further supported by carefully conducted studies. For example, Snowling,
Gallagher, and Frith (2003) followed FR children and control children from the age of 3 years, 9
months to 8 years, and found that language and letter knowledge assessed at Phase 1 predicted
phonological awarenessand grapheme phoneme skill at Phase 2 (6 years), which then predicted
word level readingskills at Phase 3 (8 years).
Additionally, it is important to notice that Snowling et al. (2003) found that so called unaffected
children from high risk family performed significantly better than impaired children in the tests of
phonological skills, while they performed significantly poor in digit span and rhyme oddity, and
performed marginally poor than the control group in the rest of tasks at 6 years. FR children for
dyslexia who had milder phonological deficits might escape literacy problems, which emphasizes
that causes do not operate in an all or none condition, and weakness in PA or LK alone might not
sufficient to cause dyslexia. In other words, dyslexia appears to be multi componential. Phonological

Winter Song Poetic Devices
The Winter Song
When this work was assigned, I immediately chose the winter song Jingle Bell Rock. In my
opinion, this song sounds like a typical puertorican song. It is happier, with a lot of movement. I
also like it because of all the poetic devices that the song has. I will be showing you some of these
poetic devices this song has.
The first poetic device that I found in the first line Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock (1).
Every time they say this line it means how much music there is in Christmas. Another poetic
device is Jingle bells ring (20). It means how the bells sound. In the analysis, I found how all the
music in christmas is related to the bells.
Also another poetic device is Snowing and blowing (3). They use

Paper on Patents
PATENT THE AUTOCRAT
The very utterance of the word patent frightens us with the sheer complexity and wordplay it can
subsume us with. Here is an attempt to demystify patents and the world of legal wrangling. As the
lexicon definition goes, it is the exclusive right granted by a government to an inventor to
manufacture, or sell an invention for a certain number of years . However, over the years, as
patents and workarounds have evolved, companies have gone out of their ways to exercise
monopoly over innovation and prevent competition from innovating in a related area of research
and development.
In the US, the International Trade Commission is the disinterested body which oversees trade and
takes a final call over unfair trade practices. All patents have to go through a process of
prosecution before being approved and pursued in a commercial setting. Patents are also governed
by the purview of jurisdiction. In such a scenario, what may apply in The United States of America
need not hold true in the United Kingdom.
With that being said, patents have changed to become entities which prevent other people from
doing . In other words, patents have regressed from being a mechanism to safeguard innovation to
an instrument to cartel against opposition. As far as patents in the world of computers go, there are
only hardware patents. There is no such thing as a software patent . Additional cause for concern is
the fact that the boundaries between software and hardware are

Ringggggggg. There it was, that sweet sound of the high pitched scream yelling that school is

him from achieving the ultimate level of fun this summer. His bucket list was made out already,
and the second he got off his bus he was going to start knocking some of those goals off. John
was the definition of average, he got average grades, he wasn t that popular, but he also wasn t a

Mrs. Clinton Case Study
As a person, Clinton is likable she is smart with a refreshing sense of humor. However, the cameras
seemed not to agree with the likable side of her. The media somehow managed to portray her as
untrustworthy and maybe this could be blamed on her communication team. As mentioned earlier,
Mrs. Clinton did not seem to have a clear message on why she was running for the highest office in
the land. Mrs. Clinton needed to articulate her own agenda and stop demonizing Mr. Trump. Her
communications team totally missed this and even at one point, Mrs. Clinton s communications

Clinton s loss in 2016 presidential elections considered as a second greatest political upset of all
time after Harry Truman s victory in 1948. Mrs. Clinton was a seasoned politician with the
backing of a sitting government, huge financial resources, and a huge following. Her opponent,
Mr. Trump, on the other hand, was an inexperienced outsider, with neither a military nor a
political background. During the campaign period, Mr. Trump made numerous gaffes and
managed to insult about every ethnic group in America. He faced accusations of sexual assault
from twelve women and at some point, there was even a video of him speaking and bragging of
sexually harassing women. On paper, Mr. Trump was the easiest opponent to beat, and yet, to the
surprise of many political pundits, he defeated Mrs. Clinton. Democrats and political pundits
have looked for reasons as to why Mrs. Clinton lost and it really comes down to a series of
strategic mistakes by her campaign team and Mrs. Clinton s message or lack of it, and trust. Mrs.
Clinton s team failed to come up with strategies that would have led to a huge turnout of the
Democratic Party s support base. Secondly, Mrs. Clinton did not have a clear message as to why
she was running for president for the presidency. Even when she managed to come up with a
campaign slogan to explain her reasons for running, she still had to fight trust issues brought by FBI
investigations and questions business connections in her charity

How Does Calypso Build The Fire In The Odyssey
Smoke rises as the nymph, Calypso, tends to the fire that burns on her hearthstone inside the cave
that she made home on the island, Ogygia. Calypso sings in a low voice, ultimately making the
flames rise higher and higher. When her voice becomes thundering, the flames become more
intense. Brightly, the cave walls glow because of the firelight. Smoke fills the air and floods out the
cave entrance, which blocks out the sunlight that was shining in. Concentrating on the fire and
smoke, Calypso hopes to divert her thoughts from the homesick hero, Odysseus. As her mind starts
to wander, a voice besides her own echos off the cave walls. A deep voice calls, Calypso.

Bad Girl Film Analysis
The American Cinema of the 1950s can be noted for its various portrayals of masculinity and
dominating consumer culture geared toward male gender. Arguably hidden behind punks and
gangsters was a class of defiant girls who subverted the gender ideals of the time and are evidenced
through a series of Bad Girl films. The bad girl filmcycle is one of the latter trends of the 50s Social
Problem film and an examination of this cycle will provide theoretical speculation regarding its
influence on the rise of the Second Wave Feminist Movement.
In order to examine the potential influence of these films and the topicality of bad girl
representation during the 1950s scare of juvenile delinquency, the following lines of inquiry will be
explored:
1.An examination of the evolution of female representation in various film genres of the 1950s
highlighting the commonly subservient role of female characters and the gender roles perpetuated
through texts of this decade.
2.Next, I will reiterate the Social Problem film and the scare of juvenile delinquency during the
1950s. I will introduce the bad girl film genre in more detail, expanding the tropes/motifs of this
cycle, and demonstrates how this genre can be subcategorized as a social problem film.
3.In order to understand the contention surrounding the bad girl films and its context in 1950s
society, I will discuss the American Dream ideology of the time, primarily through its portrayal on
television. We can note the struggle

The Digital World Is Affecting Today s Youth
Sandra Boyd analyzes how nearly ubiquitous access to the digital world is affecting today s youth
in It s Complicated. She explains how the app generation is struggling to self identify and
successfully leverage the Internet to be app enabled. Youth s app dependency is a result of access
to digital technology and social media at an early age, and is preventing youth from properly self
identifying themselves. This, in turn, is affecting how they build relationships and how they think
creatively. The online community our group has decided to look into is the PCMasterRace
subreddit. This subreddit is a community of PC gamers sharing information about computer
hardware, postcreative and visually appealing computer configurations (called builds or rigs ) and
post satirical or funny pictures about trending topics. Reddit provides a platform for people with
unique special interests (i.e. PC s) to communicate and collaborate; it is a place where relationships
have the opportunity to be built and where creative ideas can be expressed openly.
Recently, a major topic of this subreddit has been to help console peasants ascend to the ranks of
the PC Master Race. Console peasants often deny that PCs outrank consoles in terms of
performance and ability when gaming and respond to PCMasterRace commentary by posting
nonsense, making claims that playing at suboptimal graphics settings on their consoles make for a
better atmosphere and an overall superior gaming experience.

Difference Between Inorganic Growth And Organic Growth
Organic growth is where a company grows by increasing its turnover/sales revenues. (It can also
be defined as growth of a company by building on its existing knowledge or resources). With an
increased revenue the company can easily make profits, it then ploughs back the profits into the
business enabling it to grow. To increase turnover/sales revenue the company can do so through
increasing its customers (find new customers to add to existing ones) or developing new products.
For instance, Sunlight and Berendsen growth is attributed more to organic growth whereby they
have been able to increase their customers in existing locations and new EU operational areas.
Inorganic growth is growth generated through the company joining with other companies. Organic
growth can be by mergers or takeovers. A merger is where two companies through an agreement
join. They agree on how to conduct their operations, resource sharing among other aspects of their
business. A takeover is whereby a company buys/owns 51% or more of the shares of another
company (The Times 100, n.d). This gives it a right to majority voting power, it controls the
management and financial decisions of the business. Inorganic growth can take place via horizontal
integration or vertical integration. Under horizontal integration two companies or firms at the same
stage of production or operating in the same line of business join as was in the Sunlight and
Berendsen which both had specialty in providing textile services

The Crime Control Model Of The Ryan Ferguson Essay
In a perfect world every person s rights would never be compromised, within a society that is
free of crime. Everyone would be equal and treated fairly. Unfortunately this is not the case, our
system was created to serve and to protect the lives and rights of every American. Although, the
scary reality is that not everyone s rights are always protected and some are even wrongfully
convicted of crimes he or she is innocent of. This is an unnerving concept that seems like a plot to
a popular crimefighting show. Sadly, this possibility was a reality for a man named Ryan
Ferguson. Three key factors of the Ryan Ferguson case are: the Crime Control Model, the role of
evidence, and the role of Appellate courts.
The Crime Control Model demonstrates a specific viewpoint of prevention and deterrence of crime
which means, the most important function of the criminal justice process to punish and repress
criminal conduct, (Gaines, Kaune, and LeRoy,17). This means that a person who aliens with this
model, will ensure someone gets charged for the crime committed. If more and more criminals are
taken off of the streets, the justice system ultimately is successful in protecting it s society
members. A known criminal could be convicted of a crime that he or she did not commit, but
according to this model, as long as criminals are getting punished and removed the system is doing
its job. In the Ryan Ferguson case, it is clear that Prosecutor Crain aligned with the Crime Control
model.

Additionally, relationship is very formal in INDIA. While doing business MNCs should make

interpretation and thus be redundant. Furthermore, in INDIA setting up a contact to go about as an

not convey any negative meanings in the business culture of INDIA. Gifts ought to dependably be

Notwithstanding, it is vital not to give or exchange gifts without a justifiable witness or a reason.

This lowers Lily s confidence about her skills as an artist and she begins to view the painting as

women to be married and raise children, they are meant to comfort and care for others. Mrs.
Ramsay represents this belief. She encourages Mr. Ramsay when he feels down about his works,
but also questions why he needs this constant reassurance. Mrs. Ramsay feels that Lily will not
succeed in art and should focus on marriage, which is why she tries to feel helpful by continuously
mentioning the marriage of Lily and Mr. Bankes.
During the novel, Lily tries to analyze the different aspects of Mrs. Ramsay so she can correctly
portray her in the composition. It is revealed that Mr. and Mrs. Ramsay are in search of something
to make their life significant in the eyes of others. This is one thing Virginia Woolfmentions
throughout the novel to emphasize the desires many people have in the world today. Mr. Ramsay
reflects on being remembered through his philosophical works and research after his life has
ended. Mrs. Ramsay finds significance and importance in making memories with others to build a
memorable reputation. Lily notices this when she realizes Mrs. Ramsay wants Lily to marry Mr.

The need for paid family leave has always been there, but finally is coming to the forefront of the
presidential election in 2016. Both democratic front runners have policies that they have spoken
about openly and even a few republicans had some bare bones policies, but those politicians did
not make it this far. The best and most inclusive policy in my opinion is the one of Bernie Sanders.
Sanders supports and is cosponsoring the FAMILYAct which would provide 12 weeks of paid
family and medical leave to care for a sick loved one or for the birth of a child. Also, he supports the

Finally, as millennials start to gain some power and pull in the workforce after graduating from
college and starting families of their own it is starting to get some traction. The generation as a
whole is not willing to compromise their work life balance to fit the societal norm (Gilbert,
2011). The demands of the generation that is larger than baby boomers will not be stifled,
especially when the United States has many countries to catch up to when it comes to workers
rights policies like family leave. It is estimated that millennials will be over 50% of the
workforce in the next 4 years (PWC, 2016). That kind of majority in the workforce and thus
voting population forces change and opens windows for policy makers that have been patiently
waiting in the wings for the chance to push their policies through. Sanders policies that he is
supporting and co sponsoring are a perfect example of this. Sanders has supported family leave
since the early 1980s but did not have the policy window to push his policy through. Power
structure within society is something else that is changing with the millennial generation.
Millennials are a generation that is very aware of who has power in society and why they have it.
As a whole they are fighting to reverse the inequity and racism that is often found within that power.

Don t we all feel this way? Some people are truly introverted and care little of interacting, but I
think the majority of us strive to become part of the world and at times feel like this life is one
big drama and we have a big part. Our role might only be important for one scene, but we feel
like the leading man or woman at times. The narrator leads us to what appears to be a fitting
climax; a crescendo of music and song, with all players involved. Miss Brill s dreams of this
were quickly shattered. The comments by the young people, Why does she come here at all who
wants her? Why doesn t she keep her silly mug at home? leaves Miss Brill with the cold
realization that she is in fact like the odd, old people that she watches in the

Vincent Van Gogh And Salvador Dali
Van Gogh, Starry Night (1889) / Salvador Dali, The Persistence of Memory (1931), are two
paintings that come from a distinct time period. The two movements share a common motivation
and reject the interest of observing the world, the artists instead looked into their memories and
emotions in order to connect with the viewer on a deeper level. Both the Post Impressionist and
Surrealist represent reality as a reflection of the creative potential of the unconscious mind, and
inner self.
Post Impressionist artists were influenced by the Impressionism movement, but rejected its
limitations and embarked on their own artistic styles which were more spiritually and emotionally
based than impressionist work. They wanted to portray emotion and intellect as well as the visual
imagery. Vincent Van Goghwas a Dutch Post Impressionist artist whose work is known for its
vivid colors and emotional impact. Although he sold only one painting during his lifetime, Van
Gogh now is one of the most popular artists of all time. Van Gogh s mental instability provided a
source of emotional reflection on his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Government In Lord Of The Flies Research Paper
In Lord of the Flies, William Golding demonstrates the deterioration of society at an island
where there is no functioning government. The boys on the secluded island slowly becoming
savages due to the lack of a law making body to regulate and guide the individuals. Some people
may argue that a government is not necessary for the survival of a group of people sharing
common traditions and beliefs; however, it is imperative in order to prevent the downfall of
society. First of all, a governmentprotects the rights of the people. Secondly, it establishes
consequences for crimes and misdeeds, and lastly, government maintains peace and order within
society. Therefore, a strong, functioning government is necessary for the survival of society. Firstly,

Several laws and regulations are put into place by the government to prevent humans from
behaving without caution. Without these laws, humans would engage in activities which could
potentially harm the community, slowly abolishing peace and order within society. At the
beginning of Lord of the Flies, Ralph takes charge and attempts to maintain order and peace on
the island by conducting meetings and assuming leadership. However, the absence of a
legitimate government gradually resulted in the boys turning into savages. Furthermore, it
created conflicts between different characters such as Jack and Ralph that could not be resolved
in an orderly manner due to the lack of a strong law making body. However, a society with an
active government develops the necessary regulations needed to establish justice amongst
individuals. Several people may argue that many laws put forth by the government do not
promote peace; however, these regulations keep society organized by having a systematic way to
control people while also providing the peace and freedom citizens seek in society. Without a
strong government, people would not feel obligated to behave correctly, making it more likely for
them to break order and disrupt

Essay on Abortion, Pope John Paul II and Peter Singer
Abortion, Pope John Paul II and Peter Singer
Abortion is one of the most controversial issues today. It has become a question of not only ethics,
but morals. In the 1973 case of Roe v Wade the Supreme Court ruled that a woman has the right to
terminate a pregnancy by abortion within the first six months of the pregnancy. However,
conservative Presidents have changed the legislation enough to allow states to restrict abortion in
various ways (Practical Ethics, Peter Singer). In the following paper, I will summarize the views on
abortion of Pope John Paul II and philosopher, Peter Singer. These two men have very conflicting
opinions about abortion.
Pope John Paul II s Argument: This argument is very adamantly against abortion. It is... Show more

The way of death is this: ... they kill their children and by abortion cause God s creatures to
parish ... they are filled with sin. As time goes on, the Church will continue to teach the
undeniable value on the first commandment. Even in the first centuries, murder was considered
one of the three most serious sins. This should not come as a surprise. To kill something that
was created by, and in the image of, God should be considered a serious sin. The most important
case involving the first commandment of You shall not kill is when it refers to innocent human
beings. This is especially so when it refers to defenseless, weak, human beings such as an unborn
child or infant. The taking of an innocent life, especially at it s beginning or end, is gravely
immoral. This direct and voluntary action will always be regarded as morally evil and can never
be considered as necessary, either as an end, or as means to a good end. Nothing and no none can
in any way permit the killing of an innocent human being, whether a fetus or an embryo, and infant
of an adult ... no one is permitted to ask for this act of killing, either for him/herself or for another
person entrusted to his or her care ... Nor can any authority legitimately recommend or permit such
an action (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith). Every innocent human being has a right to
life. Every man, woman and child is a person worth protecting, not

Alexander III Of Macedon s Legacy
Alexander III of Macedon, also known as Alexander the Great, was the son of King Philip And
After the death of his his father (336 BCE) he became king of Macedonia. He later went out to
conquer most of the known world of his day. He was Great because he was kind and respectful
of his followers, and left a legacy that lasted more than 9 centuries after his death, and because of
the many regions he conquered in short life time. In the Legend of the Helmet, Alexander receives
a small amount of water from his army, he dumps it on the ground because there isn t enough to go

However Alexander left a great legacy that lasted Many years after his death. According to
document E: 900 years after Alexander s death, Greek literature and theater remained strong
cultural influences in the eastern Mediterranean Middle East. Centuries after Alexander had
died this whole culture remained a big influence on those societies. If he wasn t great, why
would he have left a legacy that lasted 900 years after his death? Only someone who was truly
great could have left such an impact on so many people. According to the background essay:
Flash forward three centuries. A Roman military commander named Julius Caesar is on
campaign in Spain. There he encounters a statue of Alexander and is said to have wept. Caesar
was reportedly overcome by the thought that Alexander had achieved so much at such a young
age. If Alexander didn t have an impact on all these people, he probably wouldn t have been
remembered many years after his death by people like Caesar and the Roman emperor who 540
years after Alexander s death had him sewn into his clothing (Document E). He probably wouldn t
have statues of him still standing after his

Potassium Research Paper

Potassium is a mineral found inside body cells. It is one of several minerals known as electrolytes.
These minerals (potassium, sodium, and chloride) are found in the fluids inside of body cells
(intracellular) and outside the cells (extracellular).
Functions: Potassium is important in human body because it helps:
Maintain water balance and acid base balance along with sodium
Muscles contract, including maintaining a normal heartbeat
Transmit nerve impulses
Maintain normal blood pressure

Healthy kidneys are often enough to regulate body potassium. Medical conditions that affect
levels should be monitored regularly. Call your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms.
how much of each mineral you need depends on your age and gender. There is no perfect food
with all the vitamins and minerals. You need in just the right amounts. Remember, real food
contains healthy things which a pill cannot give us. When we take a nutrient out of a food and
concentrate it in a pill, it is not quite the same thing. Be sure to consider your individual situation
and consult a doctor or an RDN before considering supplements. Therefore, the best way to get all
the daily vitamins and minerals you need is to eat a balanced diet that contains a wide variety of

The Separative Self In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
As Plath s novel demonstrates, people often fall victim to their environments. In her article The
Separative Self in Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar Diane S. Bonds explains how The Bell Jar offers a
brilliant evocation of the oppressive atmosphere of the 1950s and the soul destroying effect this
atmosphere could have on ambitious, high minded young women like Plath (Bonds). Bonds
psychologically analyzes Esther s thoughts and actions to understand her mental decline. She makes
the claim that Esther is haunted by images suggesting the self mutilations of marriageand
motherhood (Bonds). She proves her assertion with the evidence that Esther sees the world as a
series of dismembered body parts. Esther cites the goggle eyed headlines (1) staring up at her
while walking through New York. She details her friend Doreen s physical characteristics: [she]
had bright white hair standing out in cotton candy fluff round her head and blue eyes like
transparent agate marbles, hard and polished and just about indestructible (4). When she returns
home to Massachusetts, she describes her neighbor, Dodo Conway: Not five feet tall, with a
grotesque, protruding stomach (116). In all of these instances, Esther describes human beings
through highlighting their body parts; however, she largely compares those parts to inanimate
objects. She uses the word eyes to describe a headline, which is lifeless.
Furthermore, Bonds explains Esther s repulsion with Dodo s pregnancy: Esther sees Dodo

The Theory Of Knowledge And Perceptions
In his first mediation Descartes comes to the conclusion that there is not one of his former beliefs
about which a doubt may not properly be raised. I will assess his reasons for thinking this to be
so. I will look at the variety of reasons he gives in relation to: his senses, the dreaming argument,
what is real and what isn t, God, his opinions and his evil demon argument. Through assessing these
epistemological (theory of knowledge) arguments I will conclude that in order to obtain new
perceptions or ideas about knowledge, one must question everything one knows, as all knowledge
and perceptions are created ultimately through the senses and mind.
Some years ago I was struck by the large number of falsehoods that I had accepted as true in my
childhood, and by the highly doubtful nature of the whole edifice that I had subsequently based on
them. (Descartes;2013:201)
Descartes claims that substantial quantities of his assumptions are based on childhood beliefs
that have shaped his views in adulthood. He is challenging his own knowledge. This is known as
scepticism, where the idea of knowledge is questioned when a definite claim is made.
(White:1989:92). In order to challenge these views he must deconstruct all of his former beliefs,
by taking them apart from the most basic premise on which they were formed. As Descartes states
Once the foundations of a building are undermined, anything built on them collapses of its own
accord, so I will go straight for the basic

In a developing country such as Indonesia, power stations play an important role in the economy especially for specific and crucial industries in each island and city. The power station needs to be maintained to be as efficient as possible so the electricity can be distributed equally to each island and city. Besides equal distribution, it also needs to reduce power supply interruption and to minimize power loss to each location in specific time frames. The lecturer advised us to create an automated electrical unit system to cascade with the power grid to automatically distribute in each location or crucial area/industry. This problem had interested me and my team and we started to discuss each possibility to resolve the problem and what kind of suitable system would work. Brothers Drake Meadery Overview For our Gemba paper, we choose to take an inside look at how Brothers Drake Meadery, an urban producer of wines made from honey, produces meads and creates its local business. In order to put forward useful suggestions from a better understanding about the production process, we visited Brothers Drake Meadery located on 26 E 5th Ave. Brothers Drake Meadery s business contains meadery, bar, event space for rent, and venue for live music event. As a popular wine among tourists and wine lovers in Columbus, mead not only uses local ingredients and supplies for brewing, but also is only distributed locally. Mead is that uses. Mr. Meadery has great passion for mead; as a matter of fact, he sees the recipe generation part as the most important part of his business. It is indeed this unique, innovative process that supports his business; however, it is undeniable that there are some problems generating from this process. On the one hand, the random new recipe testing schedule wastes lots of time, and sometimes makes it fail to meet customer demand on time. The production process is relatively standard, which asks for a long time for brewing and aging. However, once staffs start to produce new mead, they can only make one flavor at a time in the whole metal container. On the other hand, all labor forces are assigned to keep producing the mead due to Mr. Meadery s focus on increasing the utilization of existing equipment. However, the bottling is quite a labor intensive process that will cost lots of money to employ more labors. Besides, stores that sell their bottled mead do not have good sales plan, which makes Brothers Drake Meadery fail to track the sales of each flavor and make better plans for next production. ... • 6. The Rime Of An Ancient Mariner Analysis Samuel Taylor Coleridge s The Rime of an Ancient Mariner is a poem, in which a Mariner tells his story of a supernatural encounter with spirits and a higher being identified as God to an unsuspecting wedding guest. The Mariner is able to tell his story through a pattern of God s aid, wrath and forgiveness. Through the use of a higher beings aid, wrath and forgiveness the poem demonstrates a moral which can mostly be confirmed with symbols throughout the poem. The poem demonstrates the aid of a higher being when the Albatrossis introduced in lines 63 66 stating At length did cross an Albatross, Thorough the fog it came; As if it had been a Christian soul, We hailed it in God s name. These lines explain how the presence of the Albatross was seen as a good omen and was praised as if it was sent from God. An alive Albatross could very well have been seen as a heavenly figure because it has characteristics that embody holy symbols. A white albatross can be compared to peace, serenity, and safety; these characteristics can be accurately confirmed because it brought good luckto the sailors. This is confirmed in lines 69 72 stating The ice did split with a thunder fit; The helmsman steer d us through! And a good south wind sprung up behind; The Albatross did follow, . The good fortune of the shipmates and their journey are confirmed in lines 71 74 stating And a good wind sprung up behind; The Albatross did follow, And every day, for food or play, Came to the mariners hollo! . This also shows that when the sailors decided to protect the Albatross all of them were protected as well. The Albatross is not only a symbol of good fortune, but also God s aid because it was seen as a help to the sailors when they were in trouble. The wrath of a higher being is demonstrated in the poem following the death of the Albatross. The Albatross is killed by the Mariner in lines 81 82, which say With my cross bow I shot the Albatross . The Mariner shooting the Albatross with his crossbow on impulse is not only a sign of evil but is a plain gesture of disrespect on the gift of aid that was recognized as an offering from God. A crossbow has a similar shape to a cross which has a heavy significance in religion, seeing as it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It Is Now The Year 2017, And There Is Still Inequality It is now the year 2017, and there is still inequality in the workplace; there are jobs that are geared toward specific genders, and there is still a pay difference between men and women. There are many great reasons why gender equality should be in effect in the workplace. Not only is it morally fair to have the same opportunities available to both genders, but equality also stimulates the economy, the national economic growth, and productivity. There are many positive outcomes with equality in the workplace but there is still conflict, mainly from the heads of companies when it comes to hiring of the employees. The decisions made on hiring should not be swayed to a gender , but unfortunately, sometimes it is. The positives and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Sandberg blames women for the pay difference and says it the women s work ethic that can help solve the problem. Subsequently, Dill states that less than 1% of jobs on the salary list had an even pay difference between men and women (Dill). An example of a job that pays even for both genders is an event coordinator. Besides an event coordinator and a few other jobs, there are not many with an even pay rate for men and women. Although most jobs pay men more than women, there are a few jobs where female employees make more than their male colleagues. Physician Advisers and social workers make $1.08 for every dollar a man makes, there are a few jobs that are skewed the other way but most of them are toward men(Dill). The point is that these stats need to change and become more even. The more even the stats are, the better. Sandberg and Stampler would also agree, that there should be many opportunities and should be even for both genders. Furthermore, Laura Stampler wrote about the gender divide that young woman face in the workplace. Stampler is a writer for Time; in her article, she focuses on the millennial generation. She explains that more women than men enter the workforce with at least four years of college under their belts (Stampler). This means that more women are being prepared ... The book s classification as a memoir incited significant debate, and the authenticity of her representation of Chinese American culture was contested by Asian American scholars and authors. The Woman Warrior is ingenuitive in its manipulation of the autobiographical genre. Kingston integrates the value of storytelling in her memoir and relates it to dominant themes about silence, cultural authenticity, and the cultivation of identity. Kingston writes her initial version of the No Name Woman, who was raped, raided, and died an outcast, but Kingston determines that this telling does not fit her understanding of China. Therefore, Kingston entertains another hypothetical, that her aunt took a lover and saved him from shame by giving silent birth and not revealing the lover s identity (Kingston 11). Here, Kingston critically examines the inherited talk story of her mother to determine the meaning she should obtain from the death of her aunt. Her mother s conclusion is that she must not become pregnant, but Kingston is uncertain about the simplicity of her mother s story. In the No Name Woman, Kingston introduces the fictitious memoir structure that she utilizes through the variety of interpretations of her aunt s story. Consistently through the memoir, Kingston writes contrasting accounts of the same stories and imagines the stories of others to further her themes about silence, authenticity, and identity formation. Kingston begins The Woman Warriorby writing a story which started with her mother insisting that she must not tell anyone...what I am about to tell you. (Kingston 3). • 13. Naphthalene And Salicylic Acid Lab Report The purpose of this experiment is to separate a mixture of salicylic acid and naphthalene using extraction, recrystallization and sublimation techniques. Extraction is the separation of compounds from a mixture based on their relative solubilities in different solvents. Sublimation is the process of separation by which a substance transitions from the solid phase into the gas phase, skipping the liquidphase. Recrystallization involves dissolving a substance in an appropriate solventthen crystallizing it as it cools (impurities remain in solution). The melting points of the substances were determined in order to assess their purity and the percent recovery of pure naphthalene and salicylic acid were calculated. According to the results, the melting point of pure naphthalene was between 86В°C 89В°C range, whereas for pure salicylic acid was 167В°C 170В°C. Both determined melting points were higher compared to the literature value of 80.26В°C and 158.6В°C for pure naphthalene and salicylic acid respectively. Lastly, the percent recovery for pure naphthalene and salicylic acid were 17.7% and 71.2% accordingly. In this experiment were used three separation techniques: extraction, sublimation and recrystallization. • 16. War Poetry In Pity By Wilfred Owen And Siegfried Sassoon Amongst the different genres of poetry that we can find, war poetry has been one which proved to generate great interest from people around the world. The idea of war is in itself very terrible and any individual can confidently say that no one would want to face the horrors of it. However, it was not presented in this manner prior and during the build up to World War I. It was common to find that many people were sugar coating war with the idea of pride yet they were not discussing the dreadful experiences on the battle fields. This is why poets such as Wilfred Owenand Siegfried Sassoonemerged; to react against the propaganda that the people were bombarded with. In this essay, I shall be discussing Wilfred Owen s and Siegfried Sassoon s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The former poem echoes the biblical imagery from the story of Abraham and his son Isaac with slight changes to supply details which makes it seem to have taken place in an era of modern warfare. However, since my main focus is showing Owen s sense of pity that people believe the hypocrisy and propaganda of pro war individuals as well as highlighting the soldiers terrible treatment, I would like to focus on the staggering last rhyming couplets. The poem twists the ending from that of the bible, as instead of following the instructions of the angel advising him not to kill his son Isaac and to kill the Ram of Pride instead, Abram opts not to listen and kills Isaac. Owen writes the old man would not so, but slew his son,/ And half the seed of Europe, one by one . Isaac and the seed of Europe are metaphors for the soldiers, while Abram represents the church and the people who have the power to end war. This highlights the pity of the innocent dying soldiers at the hands of the hard headed rulers who promulgate war and send soldiers to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Mi Brain Design Techniques 3. Proposed Technique Intuitively, if we can precisely locate the tumor region in the MRI image and recognize the corresponding shape as well, then we will obtain a high performance algorithm, also if we can take only a few features from this region, then we will obtain an algorithm with a low complexity compared with the previous algorithms. This section describes an overview of all fundamental processes in our brain diseases classification system. These processes are generally referred to as image preprocessing, image segmentation, feature extraction and classification respectively see Fig.3. 3.1 Image Preprocessing One of the most problems dealing with MRI images is to make the image suitable to be processed and the noise is one of ... Clustering is the process of classifies objects into different groups and classes. In clustering the data is classified according to a common features shared between the object and the target class. The process of portioning data into a number of subsets is often referred to as supervised learning or clustering. K means is one of clustering techniques designed and used in many approaches [4]. K means is generally used to determine the natural groupings of pixels present in an image. K means is considered to be one of the best unsupervised clustering and classification techniques, also it s considered a very fast technique compared with other algorithms. The aim of using K means is to classify each pixel to it s one or more data classes by calculating the distance between the input pixel with the other pixels in the clustering window. Fig.5 shows the result of applying the clustering technique on an MRI image containing tumor and the resulted image showing the image after extracting the tumor region only without any noise or other regions. 3.3 Feature Extractions Once we get the tumor region now we can get some features from the segmented image that can help us in classifying the disease that the MRI image suffers from. • 18. An Analysis Of Ernest Hemingway s The Short Happy Life... Ernest Hemingway has long been known for his two heroes in his writing. The hero who is a weak, pathetic individual who is often lost physically and mentally, and the code hero who usually shows grace under pressure and helps the Hemingway hero find his place. These two heroes often come together in a relationship where the code hero is the teacher who initiates the Hemingway hero into the code. Ernest Hemingways short story, The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber, is the quintessential example of Hemingway s heroes. In The Short Happy life of Francis Macomber, Macomber has flown to Africa for his most recent hunting endeavor. He is accompanied by his wife, Margot Macomber. This can clearly be seen when she returns home to the tent and is simply too tired to talk to Francis about the night. The repeated used of the words too tired is an indication that the manly Wilson did a good job with Margot. All of Francis Macomber s cowardice would disappear however; on the buffalo hunt. The morning of the hunt had arrived and Macomber was ready. The minutes of the actual attack were over before Macomber knew it. The car saw the buffalo, he and Wilson got out, and the shooting began. Once the three buffalo were down Macomber felt a drunken elation. He immediately said to Wilson, Let s go to the car, I want a drink. This is the climax in Macomber s becoming a man. Early on in the story Macomber was satisfied with a gimlet, but now he wants to celebrate with whisky, a true man s drink. Macomber repeatedly says, let s have a drink, lets have a drink. He had never felt so good in his entire life. True symbolism occurs when the men find out that the first buffalo, the one Macomber shot, isn t actually dead. • 19. Convergent Evidence From Longitudinal Studies On Dyslexia Convergent evidence from longitudinal studies on dyslexia supports this causal hypothesis. Scarborough (1990) identified PA and LK as candidate causal factors by reporting weakness in these two factors in pre readers who later became dyslexic. However, dyslexic children in the study were less intelligent than normal readers, which cast doubt on the findings. Results from Scarborough s study are further supported by carefully conducted studies. For example, Snowling, Gallagher, and Frith (2003) followed FR children and control children from the age of 3 years, 9 months to 8 years, and found that language and letter knowledge assessed at Phase 1 predicted phonological awarenessand grapheme phoneme skill at Phase 2 (6 years), which then predicted word level readingskills at Phase 3 (8 years). Additionally, it is important to notice that Snowling et al. (2003) found that so called unaffected children from high risk family performed significantly better than impaired children in the tests of phonological skills, while they performed significantly poor in digit span and rhyme oddity, and performed marginally poor than the control group in the rest of tasks at 6 years. FR children for dyslexia who had milder phonological deficits might escape literacy problems, which emphasizes that causes do not operate in an all or none condition, and weakness in PA or LK alone might not sufficient to cause dyslexia. Here is an attempt to demystify patents and the world of legal wrangling. As the lexicon definition goes, it is the exclusive right granted by a government to an inventor to manufacture, or sell an invention for a certain number of years . However, over the years, as patents and workarounds have evolved, companies have gone out of their ways to exercise monopoly over innovation and prevent competition from innovating in a related area of research and development. In the US, the International Trade Commission is the disinterested body which oversees trade and takes a final call over unfair trade practices. All patents have to go through a process of prosecution before being approved and pursued in a commercial setting. Patents are also governed by the purview of jurisdiction. In such a scenario, what may apply in The United States of America need not hold true in the United Kingdom. With that being said, patents have changed to become entities which prevent other people from doing . In other words, patents have regressed from being a mechanism to safeguard innovation to an instrument to cartel against opposition. • 31. Difference Between Inorganic Growth And Organic Growth Organic growth is where a company grows by increasing its turnover/sales revenues. (It can also be defined as growth of a company by building on its existing knowledge or resources). With an increased revenue the company can easily make profits, it then ploughs back the profits into the business enabling it to grow. To increase turnover/sales revenue the company can do so through increasing its customers (find new customers to add to existing ones) or developing new products. For instance, Sunlight and Berendsen growth is attributed more to organic growth whereby they have been able to increase their customers in existing locations and new EU operational areas. Inorganic growth is growth generated through the company joining with other companies. Organic growth can be by mergers or takeovers. A merger is where two companies through an agreement join. They agree on how to conduct their operations, resource sharing among other aspects of their business. A takeover is whereby a company buys/owns 51% or more of the shares of another company (The Times 100, n.d). This gives it a right to majority voting power, it controls the management and financial decisions of the business. Inorganic growth can take place via horizontal integration or vertical integration. Everyone would be equal and treated fairly. Unfortunately this is not the case, our system was created to serve and to protect the lives and rights of every American. Although, the scary reality is that not everyone s rights are always protected and some are even wrongfully convicted of crimes he or she is innocent of. This is an unnerving concept that seems like a plot to a popular crimefighting show. Sadly, this possibility was a reality for a man named Ryan Ferguson. Three key factors of the Ryan Ferguson case are: the Crime Control Model, the role of evidence, and the role of Appellate courts. The Crime Control Model demonstrates a specific viewpoint of prevention and deterrence of crime which means, the most important function of the criminal justice process to punish and repress criminal conduct, (Gaines, Kaune, and LeRoy,17). This means that a person who aliens with this model, will ensure someone gets charged for the crime committed. If more and more criminals are taken off of the streets, the justice system ultimately is successful in protecting it s society members. A known criminal could be convicted of a crime that he or she did not commit, but according to this model, as long as criminals are getting punished and removed the system is doing its job. Sanders supports and is cosponsoring the FAMILYAct which would provide 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave to care for a sick loved one or for the birth of a child. Also, he supports the Healthy Families act that would guarantee 7 days of paid sick leave to every worker. The last part of his plan is to support the Guaranteed Paid Vacation... Finally, as millennials start to gain some power and pull in the workforce after graduating from college and starting families of their own it is starting to get some traction. The generation as a whole is not willing to compromise their work life balance to fit the societal norm (Gilbert, 2011). The demands of the generation that is larger than baby boomers will not be stifled, especially when the United States has many countries to catch up to when it comes to workers rights policies like family leave. It is estimated that millennials will be over 50% of the workforce in the next 4 years (PWC, 2016). That kind of majority in the workforce and thus voting population forces change and opens windows for policy makers that have been patiently waiting in the wings for the chance to push their policies through. Sanders policies that he is supporting and co sponsoring are a perfect example of this. Sanders has supported family leave since the early 1980s but did not have the policy window to push his policy through. Power structure within society is something else that is changing with the millennial generation. Millennials are a generation that is very aware of who has power in society and why they have it. As a whole they are fighting to reverse the inequity and racism that is often found within that power. Many studies such as Social Change Impact Report, 2014 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just a few weeks ago women across the country staged a march on Washington D.C. called The Women s March on Washington . This march wasn t limited to just Washington, as 5 million participants marched in places such as New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle to express their disapproval with recently elected President Trump. Around 1890 two of the most influential women s rights groups in the National Women s Suffrage Association and the American Women s Suffrage Association, combined to become one organization called National Women s Association (NAWSA). The NAWSA attracted many women from all over to help contribute to its cause to gain equality for women, but it took a giant step forward with the addition of University of Pennsylvania student Alice Paul. The film Iron Jawed Angels depicts the encounter of Alice Paul and the NAWSA president Carrie Chapman Catta and shows us the differences the two had in their ideas. Paul expressed her idea of fighting for constitutional amendment while Carrie and the elder activists of the group supported a state by state campaign. Alice also expresses her thoughts about gaining more public attention for women s suffrage and purposes the activists seek more creative means such as a parade during the inauguration of President Woodrow Wilson. • 38. Point of View in Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill Essay The narrator in the story Miss Brill by Katherine Mansfield, is telling us this story in the third person singular perspective. Our narrator is a non participant and we learn no details about this person, from a physical sense. Nothing to tell us whether it is a friend of Miss Brill, a relative, or just someone watching. Katherine Mansfield s MissBrill comes alive from the descriptions we get from this anonymous person. The narrator uses limited omniscience while telling us about this beautiful Sunday afternoon. By this I mean the narrator has a great insight into Miss Brill s perceptions, thoughts, feelings, and into her world as a whole, but no real insight into any of the other charactersin this story. By using this point of view,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The details as told, seem to be coming directly from Miss Brill at times. The narrator gets us settled into the park with Miss Brill and tells us that she sees those around her as odd, silent, nearly all old, and from the way they stared they looked as though they d just come from dark little rooms or even even cupboards! This tells me that Miss Brill sees herself differently than she sees others, not odd or funny. She is a part of all this life and activity at the park! An actor in the grand play and somebody would have noticed if she hadn t been there. She really loved to be out with others and thought that she was very much a part of the world and not apart from it. Don t we all feel this way? Some people are truly introverted and care little of interacting, but I think the majority of us strive to become part of the world and at times feel like this life is one big drama and we have a big part. Our role might only be important for one scene, but we feel like the leading man or woman at times. The narrator leads us to what appears to be a fitting climax; a crescendo of music and song, with all players involved. Miss Brill s dreams of this were quickly shattered. The comments by the young people, Why does she come here at all who wants her? Why doesn t she keep her silly mug at home? leaves Miss Brill with the cold realization that she is in fact like the odd, old people that she watches in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The two movements share a common motivation and reject the interest of observing the world, the artists instead looked into their memories and emotions in order to connect with the viewer on a deeper level. Both the Post Impressionist and Surrealist represent reality as a reflection of the creative potential of the unconscious mind, and inner self. This should not come as a surprise. To kill something that was created by, and in the image of, God should be considered a serious sin. The most important case involving the first commandment of You shall not kill is when it refers to innocent human beings. This is especially so when it refers to defenseless, weak, human beings such as an unborn child or infant. The taking of an innocent life, especially at it s beginning or end, is gravely immoral. This direct and voluntary action will always be regarded as morally evil and can never be considered as necessary, either as an end, or as means to a good end. In her article The Separative Self in Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar Diane S. Bonds explains how The Bell Jar offers a brilliant evocation of the oppressive atmosphere of the 1950s and the soul destroying effect this atmosphere could have on ambitious, high minded young women like Plath (Bonds). Bonds psychologically analyzes Esther s thoughts and actions to understand her mental decline. She makes the claim that Esther is haunted by images suggesting the self mutilations of marriageand motherhood (Bonds). She proves her assertion with the evidence that Esther sees the world as a series of dismembered body parts. Esther cites the goggle eyed headlines (1) staring up at her while walking through New York. She details her friend Doreen s physical characteristics: [she] had bright white hair standing out in cotton candy fluff round her head and blue eyes like transparent agate marbles, hard and polished and just about indestructible (4). When she returns home to Massachusetts, she describes her neighbor, Dodo Conway: Not five feet tall, with a grotesque, protruding stomach (116). • 46. The Theory Of Knowledge And Perceptions In his first mediation Descartes comes to the conclusion that there is not one of his former beliefs about which a doubt may not properly be raised. I will assess his reasons for thinking this to be so. I will look at the variety of reasons he gives in relation to: his senses, the dreaming argument, what is real and what isn t, God, his opinions and his evil demon argument. Through assessing these epistemological (theory of knowledge) arguments I will conclude that in order to obtain new perceptions or ideas about knowledge, one must question everything one knows, as all knowledge and perceptions are created ultimately through the senses and mind. Some years ago I was struck by the large number of falsehoods that I had accepted as true in my childhood, and by the highly doubtful nature of the whole edifice that I had subsequently based on them. (Descartes;2013:201) Descartes claims that substantial quantities of his assumptions are based on childhood beliefs that have shaped his views in adulthood. He is challenging his own knowledge. This is known as scepticism, where the idea of knowledge is questioned when a definite claim is made. (White:1989:92). In order to challenge these views he must deconstruct all of his former beliefs, by taking them apart from the most basic premise on which they were formed. As Descartes states Once the foundations of a building are undermined, anything built on them collapses of its own accord, so I will go straight for the basic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
