American School Lunches Flaws
In today s society, the topic of American school lunches never ceases to put a grimace on one s face.
Cringing with disgust, students, who buy their lunch, despise the unappealing meat that is offered
and are wishing for menu adjustments. They also have habits with eating and drinking unhealthy.
Even worse, students, who are hungry after hours of class time, are not given the amount of time
needed to consume their entire meal. The direction of this essay is to explain that American school
lunches contain flaws that include short lunchhours, unpalatable quality of food, and complete ban
of junk food. In order to keep students happy and healthy, school districts need to modify and
enforce new rules. Therefore, a schema that could resolve these... Show more content on

School districts would need to figure out the amount of time for students to take care of
businesses and how long it will take them to get their lunches and sit down (ForceChange). A
longer lunch would not only allow students to finish their meals, but it will also allow the lunch
staff to prepare a more fresh and hot meal to all students. Even though the amount of time in
each class would decrease, in order for students to have more energy, become more attentive, and
less tired during class, school districts must allow longer lunch periods. Teachers may have
difficulty covering all of class material; therefore, they would need to plan a more fast but
efficient way to cover material. This would allow their grades, academic learning, and class
participation to increase. To resolve the disapproval of the ban of junk food, schools should sale
junk food are certain days of month. This would allow schools to earn money while allowing
students to have their choices to eat junk food. In the meantime, schools should have fruits come
with bags of chips or soda drinks to allow students to encourage them to eat healthy. As for the
bad quality of food, schools should promote healthy eating by serving whole fruits and vegetables
everyday instead from frozen and canned (Barr). Schools should also cook lunch meals from
scratch instead of serving pre made industry food. By making fresher meals, this will allow

Alfred Hitchcock Film Analysis
I ve gone on the record as saying I like Alfred Hitchcock s films, though I only really love one so
far ( Psycho ). My admiration for Hitchcock, along with the number of his films I love, increased
after we watched his beloved Vertigo in my class. It may have barely surpassed Psycho as my
favorite Hitchcock film. This film stars James Stewart as John Scottie Ferguson, a San
Francisco detective forced to quit the force after a traumatizing event causes him to develop
acrophobia. He soon takes up a case as a sort of private eye, however, when an old acquaintance
from college asks him to investigate the strange habits of his wife (Kim Novak). Stewart
obliges, with dire consequences. One of the surprises in this film, for me, was Stewart as
Scottie, who performed excellently. I like Jimmy Stewart, but I ve never been as enamored with
him as some movie buffs. That has changed some, as I think this is his best performance I ve
seen. He makes you care for his character and believe his motivations and feelings for the first
portion of the movie. He struggles a bit in the emotional scenes, but he still succeeds in evoking
our sympathy. By the end of the film, his performance takes a remarkable turn and he becomes
genuinely disturbing. It s brilliant. Kim Novak is also great as Madeleine Elster, the wife Stewart
s character follows. She has a creepy, disturbing quality about her during that first part of the movie
that works quite well. Later, her performance takes a turn,

The Differences Of Buddhism And Buddhism
John Calvin once said, You must submit to supreme suffering in order to discover the completion
of joy . This report will discuss two specific faiths Buddhism and Hinduism, and their beliefs
revolving around must there be suffering. Suffering can be defined as the state of undergoing pain,
distress or hardship (Oxford Dictionaries, 2017). Buddhismis a religion that encompasses a variety
of traditions and beliefs largely based on original teachings learned from the Buddha and resulting
interpreted philosophies (ABC, 2014). Hinduism is one of the oldest known organized religions it
s sacred writings date as far back as 1400 to 1500 B.C (Got Questions, n.d.). Buddhist and Hinduist
faith earnestly supports the idea of sufferingas it is engraved in their religious beliefs from the start
and is spoken about in their sacred texts. Following the idea of suffering they believe in life after
death. Both faiths believe that one specific goal is to reach a kind of freedom, for Hinduists, this
is moksha and Buddhists are nirvana both relating to the faith of a supreme self and a life in
which there is no suffering and all people have reached pure happiness. Buddhism and Hinduism
see suffering as an unavoidable fact of life as it is evident that to reach this state of self there must
be suffering. Suffering is believed to help people learn from mistakes, find themselves thus
achieving supremacy and sense of identity or life purpose. Adherents from both faiths believe in

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Globalization In Business
Globalization is the process whereby which there is integration and interaction amongst people,
organizations, companies and governments of different countries. The process of globalization
started a long time ago with the initiation of foreign trade with different countries. In recent years
due to great advancement in technology, effective communication and better relations Globalization
is a very common aspects of businesses, governments and other social segments of society. The
process has and is effected by the social, cultural, economic and political aspects of different
countries around the world. According to Thomas Friedman, globalization today is farther, faster,

tariff, interest, exchange rates etc. Fast changing regulations and shifts in the business environment.
Cultural differences in peoples taste, acceptability, likeability as well as managing labor.
Constraints on raw material, resources due to local competition or multinational that have already
established themselves there. A business has to manage with all of these things before it decides
to go global. Our business needs to keep these factors in mind. We are set up against giant strong
competitors like Hershey, Nestle, and Mars etc. that have been in the market longer then us. As
well as the fact that some place in the Europe has its own chocolates that it consumes which means
that the local competition there would be quite intense and severe. Countries like US has signed a
free trade agreement with 20 other countries, which means that producing or selling from US will
ensure that buyers pay less tariffs. These are a few aspects that a business needs to carefully

Solaris And Memento Analysis
Elizabeth Loftus is a psychological scientist who discusses memories, specifically false memories,
in her TED Talk How reliable is your memory? Ultimately, Loftus explains that it is possible to not
only have false memories, but it is also possible to feed people misinformation that in return alters
one s memory. This concept of false memories, and more broadly one s remembered past, is
evident in a few films we have studied in class. In both Solaris (Soderbergh) and Memento,
improving one s self knowledge was dependent on dealing with regret and guilt about one s
remembered past. Solaris follows the protagonist, Chris Kelvin, on his journey to the space
station with the goal of helping the scientists with an unspecified experience aboard the station.
Shortly after his arrival, Kelvin experiences the strange experience firsthand when his deceased
wife Rheya appears in the middle of the night. At first, Kelvin believes she is a figment of his
imagination, or perhaps a dream, but soon he discovers she is real. Kelvin quickly decides to rid
the station of Rheya by sending her off in a separate skyrocket; yet, to Kelvin s surprise Rheya
materializes again that next night. In contrast, the second timeRheya emerges, Kelvin decides not
to kill her, but rather begins to question her existence. It is argued that Solaris is able to
reconstruct deceased ones from the memories of the scientists aboard the station. This raises the
following question: are the duplicates materializing on the space station real people? Gordon has
an unwavering opinion that these creatures are not human, and thus, should be eradicated.
However, Kelvin has already resurrected his love with the duplicate of Rheya, and believes he
could be happier living a life with her. Surprisingly, it is Rheya that indicates she is not the
original woman Kelvin is remembering, or dreaming about. Instead, she is a reconstruction of
Kelvin s remembered past of her. Kelvin s memories dictate how the duplicate Rheya speaks,
moves, listens, and feels. This is problematic because as Loftus explains, memory can be
unreliable. To improve his own self knowledge Kelvin must deal with the guilt of having hurt
Rheya by leaving her and potentially leading her to

The Nontraditional Stereotypes Of Korea Boo
The Nontraditional Stereotype The term Korea Boo may look familiar or unfamiliar to some
people, but the word itself is hurtful. So, to put it simply, A Korea boo is a person who is not
Korean, obsessed with Korean culture, pretend that they are Korean by using Korean words and
acting as if they are Korean when in reality, they are not. The shortest definition would be Want to
Be Korean . This might not sound like a huge deal to some people, but these so called Korea Boos
take their obsession too far.
To start off, people throw around this term way too often and it is used on the wrong people.
When you call someone a Korea boo when they are not is extremely hurtful and offensive,
because these days, people think if you like Korean pop you are automatically a Korea Boo. Most
Korea boos do not appreciate or learn about the Korean culture, they also do not try to learn the
language, which offends most Koreans. Korea Boos are delusional and only look at the good parts
about Korea, when there are just as many bad parts as there are good. Not every country in the
world is perfect, South Korea may seem perfect to some people, such as having the fastest internet
in the world, there are many places to shop, and you are surrounded by K pop. There are other
things that go on, like problems that involve drugs and abusing power by using money to get what
they want, it is not all happy smiley faces and rainbows. South Korea struggles just as much as any
other country. Another

Importance Of The Sixth Amendment
In 1787 the United States constitution was written, two years later the Bill of Rights was added.
The Bill of Rights consists of ten amendments which were designed based on the American
ideals to ensure that the federal government is not too powerful, and that it would protect the
rights of the people or of the state. One of the most important amendments in the Bill of Rights
is the sixth amendment, which gives the people the right to enjoy a speedy trial when accused,
and it allows the accused person to know the cause of the accusation and who his accuser is. It
clearly represents some of the American ideals such as: democracy, opportunity, and equality.
The sixth amendment provides more requirements for a fair trial in criminal cases. First, the
accused person has the right to enjoy a speedy trial, but that does not mean that the trial will be
done within two days, but rather means that, The country or state cannot make the person sit in
jail for a very long time, for example 5 years, while they wait for their trial. This would be very
unfair to anyone who is not guilty. ; that was mentioned in the website Laws.com. This means that
a person cannot wait in jail for committing a crime the rest of his life before proven guilty, that
would go against his right of pursuing happiness. The sixth amendment also permits the accused
person to know the cause of the accusation and know his accuser, and that leads to the second ideal
which is an opportunity or a chance to

The command structure of Operation Anaconda was multi headed and lacked unity due to the
U.S. military presence not being fully established prior to, or during, execution which adversely
effected the operation. According to College of Aerospace Doctrine, combat operations were

How Planetary Differentiation Affected The Layers Of The...
Have you ever wondered what the inside of the earth looks like? How it functions? How it was
formed? Unit 2 has been all about the interior Earth. We learned many things like how planetary
differentiation affected the layers of the earth. How people use seismic data to find the depth of the
layers. And what convection currents from inside the earth, create. We learned about the interior
Earth for Unit 2.
Planetary differentiation happened when the Earth first formed. The formation of this planet
generated heat from gravitational energy and the decay of radioactive elements. Scientists think that
earth may have become so hot that it melted. Denser materials sank toward the center, forming
Earths dense, iron core. Less dense material hardened over time to form Earth s outer layers the
crust and mantle. Planetary differentiation created the layers of the Earth. ... Show more content on

We learned that in 4th grade. We went more in depth with that this year. There are two types of
Crust; oceanic and continental. Oceanic is thinner and is mostly made of out basalt. Continental
crust is mostly made out of granite. This layer drifts slowly and is solid. The Earth has sub
layers. The lithosphere is part of the crust and uppermost Mantle. Next down is the
Asthenosphere, where all the tectonic plates are. Then the lowest part of the Mantle is called the
Mesosphere. The Mantle is semi solid and has convection currents that move the tectonic plates. It
contains more iron than the layer above. The outer core has convection currents that create the
magnetic field. It s the swirly hot iron that really causes it. This is the only layer that is liquid.
The inner core is solid because of the great pressure on it. It is extremely hot. The deeper you go
the hotter it gets and iron increases. Two out of the four main layers have convection

Extreme Apathy in John Guare’s Six Degrees of Separation...
Extreme Apathy in John Guare s Six Degrees of Separation
Many authors go to great lengths to explore the limits of human experience, testing realms beyond
the imagination. Anything from physical boundaries to social boundaries are broken and thus
redefined; Kafka explores the life of a man turned into a bug, Nabokov examines the life of a man
ruled by a sexual desire that is taboo. With so much effort focused on the extremes of life, one
work, a play by John Guare entitled Six Degrees of Separation, stands out. Certainly, the events are
extraordinary; based on a true story, Six Degrees is the tale of a young con man, professing to be the
son of Sidney Poitier, and his effect on the lives of several New York socialites. Paul is the... Show

Everyone in Six Degrees is quite vocal about their feelings, in fact. How then, do we go about
proving that the experience does not mark them indelibly, as they claim it does? By examining the
characters entrances, the structure of the play, and the art within the play, we can more fully
understand whether we trust the characters. Also, since there is one admitted con artist among the
group, he serves as a valuable standard against whom we may measure the others. After we decide
whether Flan and Ouisa have indeed experienced a life changing event, the question that remains
is whether there is enough depth, enough substance to their lives so that they can learn and
change from the experience. In the final scene, Ouisa desperately laments the state of their lives,
shallow and pointless, and makes a break from Flan. Based upon all that we know from examining
Flan and Ouisa throughout the play, can we believe that Ouisa has truly made a break and found a
way to keep

Analysis of Women in the Book of Judges Essay
When interpreting the Hebrew Bible from a feminist perspective, many are quick to decry the
subjugation of women at the hands of men and the lack of female representation in dominant roles
in biblical literature. However, although some women are objectified or possibly marginalized, this
claim of inequality does not always hold true. Especially in the book of Judges, women are not
discarded as characters and are not wholly unappreciated. In fact, the book of Judges features
many strong female characters who serve in significant roles, and who are effectively portrayed as
leaders, heroes, and capable, resourceful individuals. An excellent example of an influential woman
in Judges is Deborah. From the beginning, Deborah is identified... Show more content on

It is even Deborah herself who gives the call to charge against Sisera s army, while Barak and his
soldiers comply. In Judges 5, commonly referred to as the Song of Deborah , praises are sung in
honor of this female military leader, who acts as a mother in Israel. Some scholars have even noted
parallels drawn between Deborah and the Canaanite war goddess, Anat (Ackerman 177).
Additionally, Deborah is respected as a religious figure. For example, Barak refuses to go to war
without Deborah by his side. According to Jo Ann Hackett, Barak s refusal to fight without the
presence of Deborah is not indicative of his ineptitude or of her military prowess. Rather, Hackett
proposes that Barak requests Deborah s participation because, as a prophetess and as a leader
chosen by the Lord, her presence indicates divine support (Hackett 357). If Deborah were visible to
the Israelite soldiers, morale would be lifted with the thought that the Lord would deliver the enemy
into their hands. This shows that Deborah is thought to represent the will of God.
Rabbi Steinsaltz notes that the phenomenon of prophetesses in the history of nations is usually
relegated to women who are outside the circle of life (e.g. hermitesses, or virgins dedicated to this
specific role) (Shapira 28). Deborah, however, is an exception. Although she is a prophetess, she is
also relevant in society, and fulfills multiple roles. She successfully leads the charge

Referring to Examples, Discuss the Factors That Cause...
There are many different factors that can cause power to shift between superpowers over time such
as: resources, population, and economics, military and cultural. Superpowers are define as: the
capacity to project dominating power and influence anyway in the world, sometimes in more than
one region of the globe at a time.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the British Empire was the biggest global superpower.
The British became a superpower during this time due to colonial rule. From colonisation they
gained economically from the cheap raw materials. Maintaining colonial rule depended on military
power. But when Britain started to decolonise its Empires they lost the title of a superpower. This
was due to : economic decline, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
China is an example of an emerging superpower; its economy has doubled in size every eight
years since 1980. Since 2000, China has been the largest recipient of overseas investment, and
now foreign owned companies . 60% of the world trade since 2004 has been as a result of
Chinas industrialisation. So here we can see that China has developed due to industrialisation,
which has increased its power. China use to be a low income country, so we can see from a low
income country to an emerging superpower how powers can shift over time due to many factors
that influence the world. However even though China is an emerging superpower, it has come
with some cost to the environment for example China has 16 of the top 20 most air polluted cities
in the world. The polluted air was blamed for over 4000 000 premature deaths in 2003.
Russia re emerging as a global power, due to its natural gas and is the second largest oil producer
after Saudi Arabia. Due to Chinese and Indian economies have led huge demand for energy and
increased global energy prices. Russia now sees itself as an energy superpower. So we can see
that Russia is trying to emerge as a superpower with the increasing need for energy. This can have
an affect in changing superpower, for example the USA depends largely on Russia for its energy
and if Russia stops supplying it to the US they will have problems, which many lead them into not
being a superpower anymore.

Often times in school settings there are systems that are put into place to assist in behavioral
change. The systems are usually introduced and planted by a team of administrators or teachers that
develop intervention plans. These intervention plans are referred to as positive behavioral support
systems that usually assist students with behavioral or academic difficulties. In 1972, it was
learned during the Mills vs. the D.C. Board of Educationcase that diverse learners were not
receiving the same educational opportunities as other students because of their behavior. Congress

Positive Behavioral Support and Interventions are necessary to maintain a healthy school
atmosphere, and achievements amongst all students. It is important to understand each level of
students, and what may or may not be conducive to restraining spontaneous actions or responses.
Oftentimes teachers face hardship in a classroom due to classroom management discrepancies. In
some cases, classroom management is difficult because of unruly behaviors from students, or not
being accurately prepared for students with challenging behaviors. By implementing these special
systems, team members/school staff become aware of necessary steps to deal with aggressive,
violent, and rebellious behaviors that usually disrupt classroom instructions. In my experience
within the educational field, positive behavioral intervention plans are introduced by trial and error.
Many times there are interventions that are already in place to support behaviors within a school.
While other times special teams meet to introduce pilot interventions to provide stronger support.
Many times students that are identified at diverse learners are sent through a process that will
develop an individualized educational plan (IEP) or 504 plan for them. The IEP usually identifies
any behavioral, physical, or academic challenges that could occur that may prevent the student from

The Futility of Dreams in Of Mice and Men
Everyone has a dream they hope to achieve, but dreams are not always possible to attain. In John
Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men, two ranch hands, George and Lennie, find work in Salinas Valley.
Lennie, constantly getting into trouble, inadvertently causes the two of them to be run out of town
and thus have to find new work regularly. George and Lennie s search for work in the hope of
accomplishing their dream of a small farm of their own displays how futile realizing dreams can be.
The major themes identified by commentators in Of Mice and Men are friendship and isolation,
hope and futility(Votteler 334). Through George and Lennie s friendship, the hope to achieve their

George holds Lennie in check by telling him about the farm and the condition that if he is good
he will be allowed to tend the rabbits on the farm. The dream was originally designed by George as
a way to try to get Lennie to be good, but after many times of repeating it, he begins to believe it
himself(Moore 341). George uses Lennie to sustain his own dream of the farm, that if he didn t
believe that Lennie needed him for protection his illusion would dissipate under the pressures of
the workday world (Marks 354).
George and Lennie come to work in the Salinas Valley where they are on the brink of achieving
their dream or doom(Moore 341). The itinerant workers hope to get the farm they dream of with
the money earned from working on the ranch(Doren 335). Curley s wife s dream of becoming a
famous movie star in Hollywood is as real to her as Lennie s dream of tending the rabbits is to
him(Beatty 362). George and Lennie are not like the other ranch hands in their friendship for each

for the possibility that the dream of a home on their own farm could be fulfilled(Dusenbury 346).

The Civil War And Reconstruction Period Essay
The Civil War and Reconstruction period provided African American people with a legal definition
of citizenship through three constitutional amendments. Beginning with the 13th Amendment
slavery was abolished, then 14th Amendment provided equal protection under the law, and lastly
the 15th Amendment allowed all men, including African Americans, the ability to vote. However,
the transition from enslavement to freedom was a difficult and terrifying one for most black
women as they had little or no money, limited or no education and little access to it, and faced
racism that impacted every aspect of their lives. However, the Reconstruction period in America
promised African Americans a new life of freedom with the same inalienable rights provided to
other American citizens and allowed for many social reforms to take place during the late
nineteenth and early twentieth centuries due to the efforts of African Americanwomen. The period
from the 1860s to the turn of the twentieth century, or the Reconstruction period, marked a
transitional era of mixing a new socioeconomic and political infrastructure into the United States.
Reconstruction was a comprehensive era that united the once disregarded demographic groups of
African Americans into mainstream America. With emancipation of blacks throughout the nation
and the post war constitutional amendments, this period observed the historical extension of social
and political liberties to four million emancipated African Americans.

Christopher Innes The Historical Avant-Garde
The Historical Avant Garde expressed new ways of art and reformed the traditional sense of art.
Christopher Innes used three words that described the Avant Garde: populism, primitivism, and
philosophy. These components can be seen in the figures 1 3 that help define some known
movements of the Avant Garde. The movements that are particularly focused in these figures is
Dada, Expressionism, and Surrealism. Each image displays an aesthetic characteristic of the Avant
Garde, as well as defining what the movements stood for. In addition, the visual imagery of these
figures illustrates a new method of art, in attempt to create a better art. To begin, the Avant Garde
opposed the bourgeoisie theatre, and many of the elements used was to contrast... Show more

Primitivism held a contrast to western forms, and one of the non western forms that was seen was
spirituality. Not only this but in Murder: The Women s Hope, the characters are dressed in savage
appearance, which is not usually the typical attire in a traditional bourgeoisie play (Kokoschka
220). This can also be seen in Figure 3, and it would explain why the women s breasts are exposed
and why the man is not wearing a shirt as well. This perspective is one of the elements of the Avant
Garde, as it is something considered new as well as going against the anti establishment of the
traditional theatre. Furthermore, the Avant Garde opposed mainstream theatre, and many of the
Avant Garde movements went against theatre. This was done by having using more interaction

Grasslands Case Study
This week s weather change could be a boon to duck hunters, as a freeze up north should drive
some new birds down into the Grasslands. Last Saturday, my son Bill and a friend had a pretty
good shoot at the Santa Cruz Club south of Los Banos. They had a good early morning flight,
mostly Greenwing Teal and Northern shovelers. They ended up with 11 ducks, including one
Canvasback, before the flight ended about 10:30 a.m. To make it more challenging, they were
both shooting 20 gauge shotguns. My son is still shooting the same Remington Model 58 that I
gave him in 1970, when he was 13 years old. The public shooting areas showed some increase in
averages last Saturday in the Sacramento Valley with Delevan and Sacramento Refuges being the
best. In the Los Banos Complex, Merced and Los Banos units picked up to around two birds per

Signs of the fall turnover should soon take place. The turnover is when the surface temperature
drops below the temperature of the remaining lake. The surface layer of water will sink and push
the deepest layer of water toward the surface. When this occurs, the trout will begin to move
closer to shore and shallower water in search of food. This is the time when bank anglers begin

Quality Aware Smart Decisions Under Uncertainty
IV. QUALITY AWARE SMART DECISIONS UNDER UNCERTAINTY This section details the
framework to process the QoC at each level of the context processing chain for our ubiquitous
notification assistant. Additionally, it presents a probabilistic decision support model to tackle the
runtime uncertainty. A brief account of our DDN model is also presented in this section. A. QoC
awareness in smart notification assistant The actions of the smart notification assistant are
influenced by the uncertainty involved while processing multiple context types at runtime, in this
case the locality and availability of the caregiver. As context data is extremely volatile, it requires

1. It depicts the significance of QoC requirements at each level of the context processing chain,
from context fetching (low level) to the context usage (high level). The main data quality issues
for our use case at the lower level can be the place and position of the sensor and the fact that the
sensor may be accidentally altered resulting in wrong events. In case of a GPS sensor to infer the
location of the user, the signals may be lost indoors. False events generated from these sensor s can
pose a non negligible impact on a user s (patient) health. Moreover, inferring context knowledge
from this data will hamper the quality of the overall context data from lower level to the higher
level of context processing and knowledge generation. A lack of quality at this level may harm the
reasoning and actuation properties and reduce the ability of the ubiquitous notification assistant to
determine the actual situation of the patient. It can have an unexpected effect on the real time
operations of the system as the derived context knowledge may be incorrect, consequently affecting
the smart decisions of the system and preventing it from offering tailored interactions based on the
user s (patient) current QoC requirements. Global attributes like Timeliness must be satisfied over
the entire life time of the system. Different local attributes within a context might guarantee a
global attribute. Moreover, a local attribute can

Wedding games and wedding music all inclusive
A wedding is one of the memorable events in a person s life. Everyone desires his/her wedding to
be perfect and entertaining.Sadly;not all weddings turn out this way. There are some that are boring
that guests regret attending them.
A person can hire a good wedding band to make his/her event worth remembering. Musicians are

people tend to think. It is quite a tiresome process.
Both services provided by the band
Most entertainers offer two types of services, namely music and games. These games and music
vary depending on the hired musicians. You need to hire a band for weddings that meets your
specific needs.
Here are some things you need to set right before getting into the market to look for a perfect
entertainer:
The type of audience that will attend your event.
Your budget
The kind of music you want to be played in your event
Wedding games they offer
You can choose to hire a band for entertainment purposes only if you are running on a limited
budget.Alternatively; you can choose both music and games if you can afford both. Games can
make your event more lively when the entertainers are not performing. You can include presents
and marks to make these games interesting. You can involve your selected agency to help you

China s Aging Population And The Hukou System
The selection of blog entries is an important process involving the need to thoroughly take into
account the subject topic and accordingly carry out the review of the topic. The blogs are means
to represent the idea in brief in order to make it clear for understanding by the reader. The blog
should not be formed of complex set of words, which are tough to understand by the reader.
Instead, the precise description in an easy language should be carried out in order to benefit the
reader by adding to their knowledge. Thus, two blogs have been written here titled as China s aging
population, and The Hukou system . Each of these has been described in the context of the topic so
as to make them clear and precise enough to the reader.
The blog titled China s aging population describes how the increase in population is a growing
concern for the country. The reason for selection of this topic is to explore how the increase in
aged population of China is causing an impact on the country s economic system. The increase
in population is a serious issue of concern, which is well controlled by the government through
introducing one child policy (Peilin, 2015). This parameter has however resulted into several
side effects such as increase in aged people in the country. As a result of this, the expenses
associated with elderly people is also increasing, which is an interesting area focused in the blog. It
was rather a good choice of topic as it helped in exploring how the increase

power of buyer to the mobile service provider.
For the moment, high level of competition between the major telecommunication companies that
exists in current market leads to low switching cost for the buyer to change their mobile service
provider. Customers are highly price sensitive and easy to switch brand. It also means that
customer will not be faithful to Maxis if they find out other brand provides better services than

As a result, this contributes to concentration of the buyers industry. Besides this, the buyers have
high switching cost in this industry. As a result, the industry is more profitable when the buyers
have low bargaining power which means the buyers are unable to affect the setting of prices in the

Changing Structure of Watch Industry
SWISS WATCH MARKET
In 1970s the Swiss industry produced around 75 million units per year as compared to 25 million
units in 1940s.
Since 1966, when the Swiss Government s restriction on sale and acquisition of watch companies
lapsed, the industry experienced a crescendo of mergers, bringing down the number of firms to
around 1000.
In 1971, ASUAG , the super trust combined the assembling firms selling seven different brands into
the General WatchHolding Company. This move forged important new financial and managerial
links between the component manufacturing and assembling sectors of the watch industry.
By 1971 almost three quarters of all Swiss watch exports were accounted for by eight watch

manufacturing industry. In fact, only two U.S. watch companies, Bulova and Timex, were involved
in any domestic watch production.
Since the beginning, U.S. companies have struggled to cope with the labour requirements of
watchmaking.
Some U.S. watch sellers never tried; from the start imported finished watches or movements and
simply put them in watch cases here. Other firms tackled the problem by locating at least part of
their production overseas. Bulova and Gruen, for example, established their own manufacturing
plants in Switzerland in the early years of the 1980s.
After the Second World, jeweled lever watches dominated the U.S. market.
Then during the 1950s and early 1960s the situation changed drastically. Timex first stormed the
low price end of the watch market and later moved up into the middle price range. At the same
time marginal Swiss producers flooded the U.S. market with inexpensive pin lever and jeweled
lever watches making price competition all the more severe.
In 1960s the Japanese began to carve out their piece of the U.S. market. On top of this, the mass
merchandising revolution of the 1950s threw the traditional watch distribution system, sales
through jewelers and fine department stores, into chaos. To survive in a market dominated by price
competition, one after another U.S. watch company gave up on domestic watch manufacturing
until, by 1970 there were only two survivors Bulova and Timex.

J. B Priestley s Use Of Dramatic Irony In An Inspector Calls
J B Priestley uses a variety of theatrical and literary devices such as dramatic irony in this play to
present the characters to the audiences in a way that shows they are often deluded or false. The
play was set in 1912 but was not written and performed until after World War Two. Priestley s
intention was to make the point that everyone has social responsibilities and that they should
fulfil them too. J.B Priestley presents the Inspector as an unusual figure who is a catalyst on
stage, eliciting changes in the other characters. The Inspector enters during Birling s speech
where he is at his most arrogant. For example, in Act One the characters say I ve learnt in the
good hard school of experience and Everybody has to look after themselves . In lines such as

Mesocosm Lab
Exploration
Research Question:
With the plants chosen, is it possible to create a sustainable terrestrial ecosystem within a sealed
glass jar?
Background Information
The purpose of this experiment is to become familiar with how an ecosystem works, and discover
the most sustainable kind of ecosystem. Based on knowing how an ecosystem works, predictions
have been made that state if a terrestrial mesocosm is sealed for four weeks with plants inside, it
can continue to live and thrive sealed from the outside environment because the plants will gain
their moisture from the humidity left in the sealed jar. The plants will use photosynthesis and carbon
dioxide in order to transform the carbon dioxide into oxygen and water.
A mesocosm is any outdoors experimental system that examines the natural environment that is
brought under controlled conditions. It is used to model a larger ecosystem. (Oxford Journals)
Mesocosms help scientists as they allow a more accurate prediction of previously unpredictable
events. (What is a Mesocosm) Mesocosms give scientists the opportunity to investigate the reaction
of organisms to environmental change and have been used in experimental ecology since the early
20th century. They have been used for almost over a 100 years, but just recently became significant
as a way of investigating certain ecological ideas. Mesocosms became more significant due to the
study of climate change, since the late 90s. Through mesocosms, scientists are

Positive Influences Of The Internet Essay
In 1983, an invention was introduced that would shape the future of American society and
interactions around the world. The society would begin to be centered around technology and shift
online. A plethora of advantages and societal changes has sparked negative thoughts about how the
internet has changed our lives. The ability for our computers to communicate has left us as easy
targets for hackers and has sucked the American youth into a zombie like state into their phones.
Many worry the internetis degrading our culture. When referring to the invention of writing and
reading, Plato denounced writing as inhuman and warned that writing weakened the mind and that
it threatened to destroy people s memory (Furedi). People are often scared of new innovations
because they are aware of its potential to revolutionize their culture. Adjusting to unfamiliar
concepts and innovations can be uncomfortable and difficult for most people. Similarly, modern
day sceptics look at the internet in a negative light because of its rapidly increasing impact on our
society. What most tend to forget is the positive influences of the internet. The increased
interconnection brought by the internet has led to a society that values productivity, rapid
production of ideas, and social awareness.
The idea of the internet first appeared in August of 1962 from J.C.R. Licklider, a professor at

The Year 1000 By Robert Lacey And Danny Danziger
The Year 1000 by Robert Lacey and Danny Danziger offers a delightful, often astonishing portrait
of everyday life in Anglo Saxon England in the year 1000. This very informative book, describes
what life was like that the turn of the first millennium. The Anglo Saxons, a practical, self
contained, fervently superstitious people, were 99% illiterate, yet their language would become
their most widespread legacy. Compared to modern day times, people are almost the opposite from
the Anglo Saxons. There are many qualities that are the same, but also different when comparing
the Year 1000 to the modern era of the 21st century. Within this paper, it will discuss about how the
community, lifestyle, advances in technology, politics, and religion were formed in the Year 1000.
It will also compare and constrast the Year 1000 to the Paleolithicand Neolithicera.
The Paleolithic Era (or Old Stone Age) is a period of prehistory from about 2.6 million years ago

origins of the human species. During the Ice Age, a race of people known as the Neanderthals

Biblical Truths Of The Christian Bible
1)PREFACE
I) We unequivocally acknowledge the Christian Bible as the inspired written Word of the living
God given to humanity by way of dual authorship human and Divine for the purpose of revealing
God the Father and His will for humankind; therefore comprehending the Godly priority and
importance of knowing and obeying its truths; we are passionately committed to teaching Scripture
in truth with clarity and do diligence under the anointing and the illuminating light of the Holy
Spirit with the divine authority of the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior
II) Furthermore, we are fully convinced that our Divine calling mission and central goal of the
body of Christ and to all who have ears to hear is the continual in parting of Biblical truths.
Henceforth when the Word of God is preached in expository fashion and systematically taught in
line with sound doctrine to the children of God, the servants of Christ become fully equipped with
the truth of Scripture that is mature in sound doctrine; thus, not deceived and tossed to and fro by
the wiles of the devil through the cunning craftiness of his demonic ministers who twist the plain

of Biblical truth the servants of God will become thoroughly equipped to do the work of the

People say that animals are being mistreated in zoos. Later that month, a family of four lions was
killed because, The zoo had to put down the old lions and their young offspring because of the
natural structure and behavior of the lion pride, the Copenhagen Zoo said in a prepared statement.
They murdered a family of innocent lions and they claimed it was due to the the fact that they
were going to bring a new lion and that lion would kill the lion family. How are we saving
endangered animals if zoos are murdering them? We might as well leave them in the wild, at
least they will die in peace. The Copenhagen Zoo could have sent them to a new facility. Why
would zoos reject the chance to save a new life? The cubs would have adjusted to the new alpha
male. Actually why not reject the new lion? Why take more than you can handle if you re going
to murder them? Zoos are meant to be homes and a sanctuary for animals. But is that really the

7,500 animals and possibly as many as 200,000 animals in zoos are surplus at any one time. So

The journey of Montresor and Fortunado through the vaults is a continuous symbol of
Montresor s depth to his revenge and is a prelude to Fortunado s death. As the two characters
precede further into the suffocating depths of the crypts, the foulness of the air cause(s) our
flambeaux rather to glow than flame illuminating the walls... (with lines of) human remains,
(with) piles to the vault overhead, in the fashion of the great catacombs of Paris creating a
sinister atmosphere (182). This dense weight of death in the air as the characters descend
illuminates the dead remains and symbolizes Montresor s progressive desire of revenge on
Fortunado which further indicates no limits to his vengeful desire. In the crypts, Montresor
(begins) vigorously to wall up the entrance of the niche illustrating his determination to reach his
goal of revenge building Fortunado s grave (183). This symbolizes Montresor s initiative to act as
judge, jury, and executioner for Fortunado by choosing his punishment and leaving him to die.
The walls of stone seal away Montresor s problem and fulfills his desire of revenge as well as
sealing Fortunado s

Process Of Making Pepperoni Rolls
Pepperoni rolls are a very common treat in West Virginia. It is not difficult to find them in a
local convenient store, or gas station. However, I prefer to make my own. I find pepperoni rolls
much more enjoyable when they re fresh out of the oven. Pepperoni rolls are quite easy to make,
with the right amount of patience. Several steps are involved in the process of making
pepperoni rolls. Six basic steps will allow you to achieve delicious, golden pepperoni rolls. To begin
with, you must gather all of your ingredients. In order to achieve a batch of 10 12 pepperoni
rolls, you will need: One seven ounce bag of pepperoni, One sixteen ounce bag of mozzarella
cheese, One quarter ounce packet of active dry yeast, milk, flour, sugar,... Show more content on

Next, you will carefully prepare the dough. In the large bowl with your yeast mixture, add one
half cup milk, one half cup water, one teaspoon salt, one quarter cup sugar, one teaspoon garlic
salt, and mix. You will gradually add flour (approximately two cups) to this mixture. Then, you
will thoroughly wash your hands, and briefly knead the dough. You will begin forming the
dough into a soft ball. It is important that you do not knead the dough too much, as it will
become too tough to eat. In a new bowl, you will measure a quarter cup olive oil, and transfer
your dough mixture. Make sure that you have enough olive oil to cover the entire ball of dough.
As you continue, you will allow the dough to rise. This can be somewhat tricky, unless you have
a proofer. Otherwise, you will fill a large pot full of water, and bring it to a boil. Once the water
starts boiling, you will reduce the heat to a simmer. Then, you will cover your bowl of dough
with plastic wrap, and place on a cookie rack above the simmering pot of water. It is important
that you keep a careful eye on this step. You don t want the bottom of your dough mixture to begin
cooking, so repositioning the dough is necessary. Leave the dough above the simmering water
until it has doubled in size, making sure it doesn t begin to cook. Toward the end, you will begin
preparing the pepperoni rolls. Preheat your oven to approximately 375В°F. Divide the dough into

American Mafia vs. Italian Mafia in Cinema Essay
The gangster genre within films in America has accomplished numerous positive criticisms and
constant willing audiences due to containing outstanding spectacles and mind blowing action. The
Godfather, being second on the IMDb Top 250 Movies, has set a new popular concept to life
within the Mafia from their point of view. Doing so, creating a positive association. Yet within
Italy, the same topic contains a complete different view. Movies such as I Cento Passi demonstrate
unenthusiastic view by those whom are outside yet negatively affected by those members. Unlike
American films, the gangsters are not as often viewed at the protagonist and are the main causes for
the problematic events. But how different is Italian Mafiaand American... Show more content on

I Cento Passi (one hundred steps), written by Marco Tullio Giordana in 2000, is a film of an
explosive story of betrayal, murder, intrigue and the Mafia, set in Cinisi, a small Sicilian
seaside. The town is run and controlled by head of the mafia, Don Tano. Peppino Impastato, a
real character in history, fought against the mafia, despite his family s connection and finally
became a martyr for his cause. At a young age he became very aware of the harsh reality of the
Mafia when his uncle, who he dearly loved, was blown up by a car bomb. He becomes a very
active member of the Communist party in Sicily and fought back against the Mafia, which few
Italians would ever do at the time or even in the present.
Thinking back to the first time watching The Godfather, the plot repeatedly wraps around the idea
of family and business. Yet the two do not reflect the central theme of the film. Death and betrayal
are foreshadowed in the cryptic dialogue, the baroque, pathos laced scenery, and in the very nature
of the incestuous institution of family in La Mafia (Russo p 37). Constantly seen is death being a
symbol and a theme within the film itself. The brutal violence, settled vendettas, and acts of murder
are either demonstrated, talked about, or become the reason or many focus in almost every scene.
One symbol of death in the film is the oranges, which appear in many scenes. Initially, it is hard to

Analysis Of The Masthead Of Total Guitar
ront Cover
Firstly, Mastheads are found on the covers of all magazines. Conventionally, this masthead will be
somewhat related to music amore specifically, the genre of music that the magazine appeals to. For
example, the masthead of total guitar clearly states that the magazine will solely feature guitar
based music. I have named my magazine unplugged , this clearly relates to an acoustic style of
music as acoustic performances are often described as unplugged. My masthead does what it is
conventionally meant to do, give an immediate insight into that magazine.
Secondly, the positioning of my title is in the middle of the page as unplugged is a reasonably
long word. This follows the conventions set by magazines like billboard or ... Show more content on

Whereas Kerrang may use worn down effects front page features, the features on my front page are
very simple to represent the simple nature of acoustic music.
My cover lines are short but punchy containing ultimately, what the audience wants to see. For this I
have used artist s names. This is extremely common in existing music magazines, their most
important content concerns existing artists. Also following conventions, my artist s names are
much larger than any additional information underneath. Additionally, my all important cover story
is shown in the largest font on the page other that the masthead. This immediately grabs the
audience s attention and encourages them to find out more.
Another feature of my front page that aims to attract attention is a competition, the sticker with Win
inside demands attention without being too obvious as to what the competition involves, this
encourages the audience to read inside. This is conventional in all music magazines as a way of
attracting more potential customers towards the magazine.
Conventionally, although selling the magazine, the front cover doesn t give away too much about
the content of the magazine. Cover lines are typically vague and may use rhetorical questions or
quotes to attract attention. This method again encourages people to buy the magazine and read it. I
have done this on my own front page with a rhetorical question. My front page is also jam packed
with information, as you would expect from

Intervention In Chile
Chile had been state of turmoil for quite a while. Communist leaders rushed to make the South
American country theirs, and the U.S tried to deter Chile from becoming another communist Cuba.
Unlike many nations in South America, Chile had a past of democratic leaders. However, a new
threat arose. A Marxist politician named Salvador Allende, founded the Socialist Party of Chile. In
the year of 1970, Allende won the Chilean Presidential race. This was a big win to the Soviets,
who paid millions in secret to help him win. This was a not so great thing for the U.S, who also
paid millions to back his non socialist opponents. Then the U.S became secretly involved in plotting
against the new Chilean president. Quickly, it became... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chile has been state of turmoil for quite a while. I do not believe the U.S should further
aggravate the already delicate eggshell of a situation that this current scenario is. However, I do
think some positive intervention may be beneficial. I believe that trying to negotiate with Chile s
new leader may be a good first action in trying to establish eased tensions. America is a
democratic nation, and we should protect that image. America is not imperialist, nor a nation of
conquerors, but a nation of peace. Trying to establish peace by supporting non communist leaders
is not bad on it s own, but those leader s need to be stable and trustworthy. Secretive political
meddling in Chile, in my opinion, goes against the American ideals of independence of one s own
nation (Chile). The United States may gain a political ally if intervention is proposed correctly, and
perhaps even help keep Soviet backed communism under locks in South America. However, if
intervention fails, we could create a monster worse than the current one, and create a false friend.
The government under the monster could topple, and the oppressed people may welcome what we
were trying to avoid in the first scenario,

Julius Caesar Takeover Essay
Before the definite takeover of Britain, Julius Caesar had come over to attempt to make the land
part of the famous Roman Empire in AD 55. It wasn t very long until Caesar fled back to Gaul
(France) because the British Celts had been tough to beat. Only a year later he came back stronger
and with an even bigger army. Caesar had made his mark, but not wanting a long war, he returned
to Rome and never came back. Although he could not invade Britain, about a hundred years later in
the year AD 43, Emperor Claudius had invaded Britain on instruction to do so by Aulus Plautius,
who was to be the first consular governor in command of Great Britain. This second attempt to take
over Britain would last about four hundred years, to around the 5th century AD.
These invasions were about more than obtaining land for the Roman Empire, but there were also
minerals and agricultural fields to gain more income. Since money and wealth were a big
motivation for them, Roman militaries often were eager to defeat new lands in order to attain the
wealth they desired and pay for their armies. During the early years of this conquest, it was the
initial and main fight for the takeover of most of Britain. The fast growing Romanization of these
lands was a result of poor defensive coordination among military heads of Great Britain. ... Show

To be an anti hero, a character must be a common man that is portrayed as a good person but with

Examples Of Ignorance In Fahrenheit 451
In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray bradbury, Bradbury shows that behind the destructive fire and
the burning of books, citizens believe that the key to happiness is ignorance. In the story, the
citizens of the dystopia don t question what is hidden from them, but the main character of the story
ponders what he is told and discovers truth and happiness through the knowledge gained from
reading stolen books.
Bradbury shows the ignorance the citizens possess, through many examples. In the beginning of the
book he shows it in a huge way when the firemen don t think twice about burning a woman alive:
Montag placed his hand on the woman s elbow. You can come with me. No, she said. Thank you,

In the beginning of the book Ray Bradbury shows how Montog reacts to fire when he is ignorant.
Montag did not think about what he was doing while he burned books because he had not began

He knew that when he returned to the firehouse, he might wink at himself, a minstrel man, burnt
corked, in the mirror.(4) This quote shows Montag s outlook on fire before he began reading books
himself. Montag was a complex character in Fahrenheit 451. His views constantly change as the
story progresses. In the end of the book, Bradbury showed him and his reactions to fire where,
after his ignorance had been lifted. He had realized that it could do more than cause destruction
and take away pieces of art away, but that it could help bring people together. Bradbury shows
this when montag finds people come together around fire rather than be pulled apart because of
it: It was not only the fire that was different. It was the silence that was concerned with all of the
world.(146) Montag looked at the fire at the end of the book and felt happy and at peace with the
world. He did not feel anger or a resistance to the fire, but he was one with it and was no longer

Toni Cade Bambara The Lesson Essay
The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara demonstrates a monumental piece that deems the financial
inequalities of the 1960s. African Americans began to initiate a more active role around the 1950s
to end discrimination in the United States. Bambara conveys this message through the perception
of a young girl name Sylvia. Sylvia states in The Lesson , She can run if she want to and even run
faster. But ain t nobody gonna beat me at nuthin (Bambara 6). This quote leads to the illusion that
young people need to change their course of action; in which Sylvia determines to not let anything
stop her. In the short story, Bambara uses economic prejudice through the theme of poverty and
wealth, the symbolism of the F.A.O Schwarz (Toy Store), and the style of her written work.
Economic prejudice through the theme of poverty and wealth stages a crucial impact during the
mid 1900 s. Many African Americans desire a new lease on life which ultimately causes numerous
southerners to migrate north. In volume 12 of Short Stories for Students, Jennifer Smith claims,
New York has been a place where the wealthy and poor live, sometimes within only blocks of each
other (Smith 176). This quote conveys that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Dreams Of The American Dream
The wide field, brimmed primarily with yellow, sprouting, lush, wild flowers and tall green
grass, swayed gently in the crisp breeze. Deep within an abundance of towering pine trees, where
the bluebirds chirped and the frogs croaked, babbled a crooked creek. The air was filled with the
smell of moist bark and sweet blossoms, the sound of bees buzzing, and the feeling of serenity. I
had lived in my very own oasis where all of my childhooddreams were born. I dreamed of all my
firsts , my first kiss, my first love, my first high school dance, my first varsity soccer game in the
stadium under the lights, my first day as a college student in a foreign city, my first paycheck as an
employee, and countless more. My siblings and I staged and acted out various versions of the
perfect little family with the house located in the countryside surrounded by the white picket fence
to complete the stereotypical American Dream. My imagination was sparked by this magical
sanctuary where I led my siblings in the pursuit of our hopes and dreams for a future that now in
retrospect seemed untouchable.
Where every day brought another game and every hour brought another challenge, I was the queen
and I could achieve anything and conquer the world. I was unbeatable, the strongest, the fastest and
the bravest. On certain days our old oak tree would transform into a mighty, pirate ship reeking of
saltwater and seaweed, sailing the Indian Ocean and I would lead us to find buried treasures fighting

  • 2. American School Lunches Flaws In today s society, the topic of American school lunches never ceases to put a grimace on one s face. Cringing with disgust, students, who buy their lunch, despise the unappealing meat that is offered and are wishing for menu adjustments. They also have habits with eating and drinking unhealthy. Even worse, students, who are hungry after hours of class time, are not given the amount of time needed to consume their entire meal. The direction of this essay is to explain that American school lunches contain flaws that include short lunchhours, unpalatable quality of food, and complete ban of junk food. In order to keep students happy and healthy, school districts need to modify and enforce new rules. Therefore, a schema that could resolve these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... School districts would need to figure out the amount of time for students to take care of businesses and how long it will take them to get their lunches and sit down (ForceChange). A longer lunch would not only allow students to finish their meals, but it will also allow the lunch staff to prepare a more fresh and hot meal to all students. Even though the amount of time in each class would decrease, in order for students to have more energy, become more attentive, and less tired during class, school districts must allow longer lunch periods. Teachers may have difficulty covering all of class material; therefore, they would need to plan a more fast but efficient way to cover material. This would allow their grades, academic learning, and class participation to increase. To resolve the disapproval of the ban of junk food, schools should sale junk food are certain days of month. This would allow schools to earn money while allowing students to have their choices to eat junk food. In the meantime, schools should have fruits come with bags of chips or soda drinks to allow students to encourage them to eat healthy. As for the bad quality of food, schools should promote healthy eating by serving whole fruits and vegetables everyday instead from frozen and canned (Barr). Schools should also cook lunch meals from scratch instead of serving pre made industry food. By making fresher meals, this will allow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Alfred Hitchcock Film Analysis I ve gone on the record as saying I like Alfred Hitchcock s films, though I only really love one so far ( Psycho ). My admiration for Hitchcock, along with the number of his films I love, increased after we watched his beloved Vertigo in my class. It may have barely surpassed Psycho as my favorite Hitchcock film. This film stars James Stewart as John Scottie Ferguson, a San Francisco detective forced to quit the force after a traumatizing event causes him to develop acrophobia. He soon takes up a case as a sort of private eye, however, when an old acquaintance from college asks him to investigate the strange habits of his wife (Kim Novak). Stewart obliges, with dire consequences. One of the surprises in this film, for me, was Stewart as Scottie, who performed excellently. I like Jimmy Stewart, but I ve never been as enamored with him as some movie buffs. That has changed some, as I think this is his best performance I ve seen. He makes you care for his character and believe his motivations and feelings for the first portion of the movie. He struggles a bit in the emotional scenes, but he still succeeds in evoking our sympathy. By the end of the film, his performance takes a remarkable turn and he becomes genuinely disturbing. It s brilliant. Kim Novak is also great as Madeleine Elster, the wife Stewart s character follows. She has a creepy, disturbing quality about her during that first part of the movie that works quite well. Later, her performance takes a turn, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This report will discuss two specific faiths Buddhism and Hinduism, and their beliefs revolving around must there be suffering. Suffering can be defined as the state of undergoing pain, distress or hardship (Oxford Dictionaries, 2017). Buddhismis a religion that encompasses a variety of traditions and beliefs largely based on original teachings learned from the Buddha and resulting interpreted philosophies (ABC, 2014). Hinduism is one of the oldest known organized religions it s sacred writings date as far back as 1400 to 1500 B.C (Got Questions, n.d.). Buddhist and Hinduist faith earnestly supports the idea of sufferingas it is engraved in their religious beliefs from the start and is spoken about in their sacred texts. Following the idea of suffering they believe in life after death. Both faiths believe that one specific goal is to reach a kind of freedom, for Hinduists, this is moksha and Buddhists are nirvana both relating to the faith of a supreme self and a life in which there is no suffering and all people have reached pure happiness. Buddhism and Hinduism see suffering as an unavoidable fact of life as it is evident that to reach this state of self there must be suffering. Suffering is believed to help people learn from mistakes, find themselves thus achieving supremacy and sense of identity or life purpose. Adherents from both faiths believe in ... • 7. Solaris And Memento Analysis Elizabeth Loftus is a psychological scientist who discusses memories, specifically false memories, in her TED Talk How reliable is your memory? Ultimately, Loftus explains that it is possible to not only have false memories, but it is also possible to feed people misinformation that in return alters one s memory. This concept of false memories, and more broadly one s remembered past, is evident in a few films we have studied in class. In both Solaris (Soderbergh) and Memento, improving one s self knowledge was dependent on dealing with regret and guilt about one s remembered past. Solaris follows the protagonist, Chris Kelvin, on his journey to the space station with the goal of helping the scientists with an unspecified experience aboard the station. Shortly after his arrival, Kelvin experiences the strange experience firsthand when his deceased wife Rheya appears in the middle of the night. At first, Kelvin believes she is a figment of his imagination, or perhaps a dream, but soon he discovers she is real. Kelvin quickly decides to rid the station of Rheya by sending her off in a separate skyrocket; yet, to Kelvin s surprise Rheya materializes again that next night. In contrast, the second timeRheya emerges, Kelvin decides not to kill her, but rather begins to question her existence. It is argued that Solaris is able to reconstruct deceased ones from the memories of the scientists aboard the station. This raises the following question: are the duplicates materializing on the space station real people? Gordon has an unwavering opinion that these creatures are not human, and thus, should be eradicated. However, Kelvin has already resurrected his love with the duplicate of Rheya, and believes he could be happier living a life with her. Surprisingly, it is Rheya that indicates she is not the original woman Kelvin is remembering, or dreaming about. Instead, she is a reconstruction of Kelvin s remembered past of her. Kelvin s memories dictate how the duplicate Rheya speaks, moves, listens, and feels. This is problematic because as Loftus explains, memory can be unreliable. To improve his own self knowledge Kelvin must deal with the guilt of having hurt Rheya by leaving her and potentially leading her to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Nontraditional Stereotypes Of Korea Boo The Nontraditional Stereotype The term Korea Boo may look familiar or unfamiliar to some people, but the word itself is hurtful. So, to put it simply, A Korea boo is a person who is not Korean, obsessed with Korean culture, pretend that they are Korean by using Korean words and acting as if they are Korean when in reality, they are not. The shortest definition would be Want to Be Korean . This might not sound like a huge deal to some people, but these so called Korea Boos take their obsession too far. To start off, people throw around this term way too often and it is used on the wrong people. When you call someone a Korea boo when they are not is extremely hurtful and offensive, because these days, people think if you like Korean pop you are automatically a Korea Boo. Most Korea boos do not appreciate or learn about the Korean culture, they also do not try to learn the language, which offends most Koreans. Korea Boos are delusional and only look at the good parts about Korea, when there are just as many bad parts as there are good. Not every country in the world is perfect, South Korea may seem perfect to some people, such as having the fastest internet in the world, there are many places to shop, and you are surrounded by K pop. There are other things that go on, like problems that involve drugs and abusing power by using money to get what they want, it is not all happy smiley faces and rainbows. South Korea struggles just as much as any other country. Another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Importance Of The Sixth Amendment In 1787 the United States constitution was written, two years later the Bill of Rights was added. The Bill of Rights consists of ten amendments which were designed based on the American ideals to ensure that the federal government is not too powerful, and that it would protect the rights of the people or of the state. One of the most important amendments in the Bill of Rights is the sixth amendment, which gives the people the right to enjoy a speedy trial when accused, and it allows the accused person to know the cause of the accusation and who his accuser is. It clearly represents some of the American ideals such as: democracy, opportunity, and equality. The sixth amendment provides more requirements for a fair trial in criminal cases. First, the accused person has the right to enjoy a speedy trial, but that does not mean that the trial will be done within two days, but rather means that, The country or state cannot make the person sit in jail for a very long time, for example 5 years, while they wait for their trial. This would be very unfair to anyone who is not guilty. ; that was mentioned in the website Laws.com. This means that a person cannot wait in jail for committing a crime the rest of his life before proven guilty, that would go against his right of pursuing happiness. The sixth amendment also permits the accused person to know the cause of the accusation and know his accuser, and that leads to the second ideal which is an opportunity or a chance to ... • 11. How Planetary Differentiation Affected The Layers Of The... Have you ever wondered what the inside of the earth looks like? How it functions? How it was formed? Unit 2 has been all about the interior Earth. We learned many things like how planetary differentiation affected the layers of the earth. How people use seismic data to find the depth of the layers. And what convection currents from inside the earth, create. We learned about the interior Earth for Unit 2. Planetary differentiation happened when the Earth first formed. The formation of this planet generated heat from gravitational energy and the decay of radioactive elements. Scientists think that earth may have become so hot that it melted. Denser materials sank toward the center, forming Earths dense, iron core. Less dense material hardened over time to form Earth s outer layers the crust and mantle. Planetary differentiation created the layers of the Earth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We learned that in 4th grade. We went more in depth with that this year. There are two types of Crust; oceanic and continental. Oceanic is thinner and is mostly made of out basalt. Continental crust is mostly made out of granite. This layer drifts slowly and is solid. The Earth has sub layers. The lithosphere is part of the crust and uppermost Mantle. Next down is the Asthenosphere, where all the tectonic plates are. Then the lowest part of the Mantle is called the Mesosphere. The Mantle is semi solid and has convection currents that move the tectonic plates. It contains more iron than the layer above. The outer core has convection currents that create the magnetic field. It s the swirly hot iron that really causes it. This is the only layer that is liquid. The inner core is solid because of the great pressure on it. It is extremely hot. The deeper you go the hotter it gets and iron increases. Two out of the four main layers have convection ... Extreme Apathy in John Guare s Six Degrees of Separation Many authors go to great lengths to explore the limits of human experience, testing realms beyond the imagination. Anything from physical boundaries to social boundaries are broken and thus redefined; Kafka explores the life of a man turned into a bug, Nabokov examines the life of a man ruled by a sexual desire that is taboo. With so much effort focused on the extremes of life, one work, a play by John Guare entitled Six Degrees of Separation, stands out. Certainly, the events are extraordinary; based on a true story, Six Degrees is the tale of a young con man, professing to be the son of Sidney Poitier, and his effect on the lives of several New York socialites. How then, do we go about proving that the experience does not mark them indelibly, as they claim it does? By examining the characters entrances, the structure of the play, and the art within the play, we can more fully understand whether we trust the characters. Also, since there is one admitted con artist among the group, he serves as a valuable standard against whom we may measure the others. After we decide whether Flan and Ouisa have indeed experienced a life changing event, the question that remains is whether there is enough depth, enough substance to their lives so that they can learn and change from the experience. In the final scene, Ouisa desperately laments the state of their lives, shallow and pointless, and makes a break from Flan. Based upon all that we know from examining Flan and Ouisa throughout the play, can we believe that Ouisa has truly made a break and found a way to keep ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Analysis of Women in the Book of Judges Essay When interpreting the Hebrew Bible from a feminist perspective, many are quick to decry the subjugation of women at the hands of men and the lack of female representation in dominant roles in biblical literature. However, although some women are objectified or possibly marginalized, this claim of inequality does not always hold true. Especially in the book of Judges, women are not discarded as characters and are not wholly unappreciated. In fact, the book of Judges features many strong female characters who serve in significant roles, and who are effectively portrayed as leaders, heroes, and capable, resourceful individuals. An excellent example of an influential woman in Judges is Deborah. From the beginning, Deborah is identified... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is even Deborah herself who gives the call to charge against Sisera s army, while Barak and his soldiers comply. In Judges 5, commonly referred to as the Song of Deborah , praises are sung in honor of this female military leader, who acts as a mother in Israel. Some scholars have even noted parallels drawn between Deborah and the Canaanite war goddess, Anat (Ackerman 177). Additionally, Deborah is respected as a religious figure. For example, Barak refuses to go to war without Deborah by his side. According to Jo Ann Hackett, Barak s refusal to fight without the presence of Deborah is not indicative of his ineptitude or of her military prowess. Rather, Hackett proposes that Barak requests Deborah s participation because, as a prophetess and as a leader chosen by the Lord, her presence indicates divine support (Hackett 357). If Deborah were visible to the Israelite soldiers, morale would be lifted with the thought that the Lord would deliver the enemy into their hands. This shows that Deborah is thought to represent the will of God. Rabbi Steinsaltz notes that the phenomenon of prophetesses in the history of nations is usually relegated to women who are outside the circle of life (e.g. hermitesses, or virgins dedicated to this specific role) (Shapira 28). Deborah, however, is an exception. Although she is a prophetess, she is also relevant in society, and fulfills multiple roles. She successfully leads the charge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many different factors that can cause power to shift between superpowers over time such as: resources, population, and economics, military and cultural. Superpowers are define as: the capacity to project dominating power and influence anyway in the world, sometimes in more than one region of the globe at a time. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the British Empire was the biggest global superpower. The British became a superpower during this time due to colonial rule. So here we can see that China has developed due to industrialisation, which has increased its power. China use to be a low income country, so we can see from a low income country to an emerging superpower how powers can shift over time due to many factors that influence the world. However even though China is an emerging superpower, it has come with some cost to the environment for example China has 16 of the top 20 most air polluted cities in the world. The polluted air was blamed for over 4000 000 premature deaths in 2003. Russia re emerging as a global power, due to its natural gas and is the second largest oil producer after Saudi Arabia. The systems are usually introduced and planted by a team of administrators or teachers that develop intervention plans. These intervention plans are referred to as positive behavioral support systems that usually assist students with behavioral or academic difficulties. In 1972, it was learned during the Mills vs. the D.C. Board of Educationcase that diverse learners were not receiving the same educational opportunities as other students because of their behavior. In some cases, classroom management is difficult because of unruly behaviors from students, or not being accurately prepared for students with challenging behaviors. In my experience within the educational field, positive behavioral intervention plans are introduced by trial and error. Many times there are interventions that are already in place to support behaviors within a school. While other times special teams meet to introduce pilot interventions to provide stronger support. Many times students that are identified at diverse learners are sent through a process that will develop an individualized educational plan (IEP) or 504 plan for them. The Civil War And Reconstruction Period Essay The Civil War and Reconstruction period provided African American people with a legal definition of citizenship through three constitutional amendments. Beginning with the 13th Amendment slavery was abolished, then 14th Amendment provided equal protection under the law, and lastly the 15th Amendment allowed all men, including African Americans, the ability to vote. However, the transition from enslavement to freedom was a difficult and terrifying one for most black women as they had little or no money, limited or no education and little access to it, and faced racism that impacted every aspect of their lives. However, the Reconstruction period in America promised African Americans a new life of freedom with the same inalienable rights provided to other American citizens and allowed for many social reforms to take place during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries due to the efforts of African Americanwomen. The period from the 1860s to the turn of the twentieth century, or the Reconstruction period, marked a transitional era of mixing a new socioeconomic and political infrastructure into the United States. Reconstruction was a comprehensive era that united the once disregarded demographic groups of African Americans into mainstream America. In the large bowl with your yeast mixture, add one half cup milk, one half cup water, one teaspoon salt, one quarter cup sugar, one teaspoon garlic salt, and mix. You will gradually add flour (approximately two cups) to this mixture. Then, you will thoroughly wash your hands, and briefly knead the dough. You will begin forming the dough into a soft ball. It is important that you do not knead the dough too much, as it will become too tough to eat. In a new bowl, you will measure a quarter cup olive oil, and transfer your dough mixture. Make sure that you have enough olive oil to cover the entire ball of dough. As you continue, you will allow the dough to rise. This can be somewhat tricky, unless you have a proofer. Otherwise, you will fill a large pot full of water, and bring it to a boil. Once the water starts boiling, you will reduce the heat to a simmer. Then, you will cover your bowl of dough with plastic wrap, and place on a cookie rack above the simmering pot of water. It is important that you keep a careful eye on this step. You don t want the bottom of your dough mixture to begin cooking, so repositioning the dough is necessary. I Cento Passi (one hundred steps), written by Marco Tullio Giordana in 2000, is a film of an explosive story of betrayal, murder, intrigue and the Mafia, set in Cinisi, a small Sicilian seaside. The town is run and controlled by head of the mafia, Don Tano. Peppino Impastato, a real character in history, fought against the mafia, despite his family s connection and finally became a martyr for his cause. At a young age he became very aware of the harsh reality of the Mafia when his uncle, who he dearly loved, was blown up by a car bomb. Little is known about the flow pattern in the pharynx and its effects on OSA1. Phase Contrast MRI (PC MRI) is an established technique to visualize and quantify fluid flow. PC MRI has been previously used to study flow patterns in stenotic phantom2, hence it is used here to investigate flow patterns in the pharynx to understand OSA. Subjects and Methods Two 3D printed phantoms were used for the experiments. First, to validate PC MRI velocity measurement with published laser Doppler anemometry (LDA) results3, a stenotic phantom (length=147cm, diameter=2.59cm) with 75% area ... • 53. Examples Of Ignorance In Fahrenheit 451 In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray bradbury, Bradbury shows that behind the destructive fire and the burning of books, citizens believe that the key to happiness is ignorance. In the story, the citizens of the dystopia don t question what is hidden from them, but the main character of the story ponders what he is told and discovers truth and happiness through the knowledge gained from reading stolen books. Bradbury shows the ignorance the citizens possess, through many examples. In the beginning of the book he shows it in a huge way when the firemen don t think twice about burning a woman alive: Montag placed his hand on the woman s elbow. You can come with me. No, she said. Thank you, anyway. The pink face of Beatty now showed the faintest... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning of the book Ray Bradbury shows how Montog reacts to fire when he is ignorant. Montag did not think about what he was doing while he burned books because he had not began reading books himself. Montag grinned the fierce grin of all men singed and driven back by flame. He knew that when he returned to the firehouse, he might wink at himself, a minstrel man, burnt corked, in the mirror.(4) This quote shows Montag s outlook on fire before he began reading books himself. Montag was a complex character in Fahrenheit 451. His views constantly change as the story progresses. In the end of the book, Bradbury showed him and his reactions to fire where, after his ignorance had been lifted. He had realized that it could do more than cause destruction and take away pieces of art away, but that it could help bring people together. Bradbury shows this when montag finds people come together around fire rather than be pulled apart because of it: It was not only the fire that was different. It was the silence that was concerned with all of the world.(146) Montag looked at the fire at the end of the book and felt happy and at peace with the world. He did not feel anger or a resistance to the fire, but he was one with it and was no longer ignorant to how special books ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Toni Cade Bambara The Lesson Essay The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara demonstrates a monumental piece that deems the financial inequalities of the 1960s. African Americans began to initiate a more active role around the 1950s to end discrimination in the United States. Bambara conveys this message through the perception of a young girl name Sylvia. Sylvia states in The Lesson , She can run if she want to and even run faster. But ain t nobody gonna beat me at nuthin (Bambara 6). This quote leads to the illusion that young people need to change their course of action; in which Sylvia determines to not let anything stop her. In the short story, Bambara uses economic prejudice through the theme of poverty and wealth, the symbolism of the F.A.O Schwarz (Toy Store), and the style of her written work. Economic prejudice through the theme of poverty and wealth stages a crucial impact during the mid 1900 s. Many African Americans desire a new lease on life which ultimately causes numerous southerners to migrate north. In volume 12 of Short Stories for Students, Jennifer Smith claims, New York has been a place where the wealthy and poor live, sometimes within only blocks of each other (Smith 176). This quote conveys that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though African Americans existed with fewer opportunities during the mid 1900s, the difference today currently displays little to no change in the current economic state. In the 21st century, African Americans attended inadequate schools because of the government charges and property laws that prohibit the children s parents from migrating to neighborhoods with better education. Segregation will always affect the white population and the black population due to most of the biased public. Toni Cade Bambara is one of the many African American authors to present a voice and advocate topics not addressed in the civil rights and women s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. My Dreams Of The American Dream The wide field, brimmed primarily with yellow, sprouting, lush, wild flowers and tall green grass, swayed gently in the crisp breeze. Deep within an abundance of towering pine trees, where the bluebirds chirped and the frogs croaked, babbled a crooked creek. The air was filled with the smell of moist bark and sweet blossoms, the sound of bees buzzing, and the feeling of serenity. I had lived in my very own oasis where all of my childhooddreams were born. I dreamed of all my firsts , my first kiss, my first love, my first high school dance, my first varsity soccer game in the stadium under the lights, my first day as a college student in a foreign city, my first paycheck as an employee, and countless more. My siblings and I staged and acted out various versions of the perfect little family with the house located in the countryside surrounded by the white picket fence to complete the stereotypical American Dream. My imagination was sparked by this magical sanctuary where I led my siblings in the pursuit of our hopes and dreams for a future that now in retrospect seemed untouchable. Where every day brought another game and every hour brought another challenge, I was the queen and I could achieve anything and conquer the world. I was unbeatable, the strongest, the fastest and the bravest. On certain days our old oak tree would transform into a mighty, pirate ship reeking of saltwater and seaweed, sailing the Indian Ocean and I would lead us to find buried treasures fighting ...
