Queen Kapiolani In Hawaii
Queen Kapiolani was a gentle queen whose main concern was the people of Hawaii. She was
determined to make sure the people of Hawaii were taken care of and that they will one day get
their homes and justice back. She took every opportunity she could take to ensure the security of
her people. She did everything she could in her power to make a better future for her people. Her
and her husband were determined to not give the Hawaiian Kingdom to the United States.
Kapiolani was born on December 31, 1834 in Hilo on HawaiК»i Island to High Chief Kuhio
KalanianaК»ole of Hilo and High Chiefess Kinoiki Kekaulike of KauaК»i, the daughter of King
KaumualiК»i, the last King of an independent KauaК»i before its amicable cession to Kamehameha

While she was Queen of Hawaii she often traveled throughout the islands to make sure her
people were receiving everything they needed. She and her husband both believed that the
Hawaiian government should consist of Hawaiian people not white people. Queen Kapiolani
had her coronation on February 12, 1883 at the Iolani Palace. Kalakaua hoped that once day in
the future the foreign people leave and the Hawaiian people will be left in peace. Kapiolani did
everything she could in her power to help her people. She established the, now called, Kapiolani
Medical Center for Women and Children. This hospital was dedicated to help the Hawaiian
mothers and babies. She dedicated her time and energy into this hospital. She even became the
first Queen to visit the White House, hooping to bring attention to Hawaii. Queen Kapiolani was
so determined that she decided she would never speak English and only speak Hawaiian.
Princess Liliuokalani became her interpreter. King Kalakaua loved Queen Kapiolani very much.
To show his love for her, he named a 500 acre park after her. Now, the park consists Diamond Head
and Honolulu Zoo. The park is also home to many very old banyan trees, and the Kapiolani

State Trooper Research Paper
Have you thought about what you want to do after high school i have thought about it over and
over. After hard thinking I came to conclusion what i would want to be. I would want to be a
Arkansas State Trooper. The history of the Troopers, is that on march 19th it was approved that
arkansas had a state police department. When it first started out, they were just seen as rangers .
By 1948, the state trooper had grew in size, were there were now over sixtyfive officers,
including highway patrol and criminal investigation. In the same year the state police stated being
called as highway patrol as troopers . By the year 1957 the state police had doubled in size. At this
point in time every county had their own trooper.Around the late 60 s into the... Show more content

But you always have to keep in mind that you could work over time and make extra money.
Having a career it is very important to make sure that you have benefits. As having benefits as a
state trooper, they would be social security, disability, healthcare, pension, and also you have
time off and to be with your family. In every job that we people have, there are risk that come
with the job. Some of the risk of being a state trooper is accidents happening, for example a hit
and run, when you pull someone over, and you are hit from the side or if someone is trying to
leave a sense. A bigger risk is someone not wanting to get into trouble for something that they
have done and they may try to fight you. For example, just this year alone there have been 76
police officers who have been killed. Most of them deaths have came from people who either
ran the police officer over, or have shot the officer. But like i had said, with every job there is
there are the benefits, and then there are the risk. That is why I choose this career over any other
ones. I want to be the one who can try to make sure that people are following the rules of the state,

Body Piercings In American Culture
Over the past few decades, body piercings have become a popular form of body art and have
been accepted in the American culture. Society has learned to recognize body piercings as a
form of self expression; however, most employers are not allowing them to be shown in the
workplace. Body piercings serve as a function to stand out from the rest of society. Employees
with piercings are defending their right to express themselves in efforts to make body piercings
permitted in the work place. Even though piercings are becoming mainstream, they are stilled seen
as unprofessional in an office/work setting. Piercings have been a tradition for certain cultures for
centuries and are viewed as a necessary body modification. Egyptians were one of the first to
practice body alterations followed by African and Native American Tribes. Egyptians used
piercings to show their wealth and to reveal their beauty. Others, like Native Americans partook in
body piercings as religious rituals as well as to seem fiercer than their enemies. Today s culture has

Managers have the authority to create their own dress code that requires every worker to follow.
The law only defends discrimination of race, color, religion, age, nationality and gender, so
suing a company because the employee didn t follow the rules will not end in a win. Religion is
the only factor that would allow an employee to have body piercings. Since the Hindu religion
requires a nose ring, employers are not allowed to force them to take it out. Many religions, on
the other hand, are strongly against body modification. Businesses don t want to risk loosing a
customer because an employee offends them by their piercings. Jobs are valuable in today s
economy; therefore, employers are willing to pick the employee who will represent the company in

St. Thomas Aquinas s An Unjust Law
St. Thomas Aquinas argues that an an unjust law is no law at all. (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002,
p.19) However, Aquinas also acknowledges that a human lawgiver may promulgate a command
that has the form of law, and is enforced like a law, yet is unjust. This observation leads to the
realization that these are two inconsistent claims. Yet Aquinas believes that these inconstancies can
be reconciled. In Aquinas view an unjust law is not a law but yet is also able to be issued as law
and imposed as law. Throughout the course of this essay, I will first define what Aquinas means by
incorporating the claim that an unjust law is no law at all . This will include defining important
terms that will correspond with evaluating Aquinas claim.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is imperative to understand Aquinas definition of just and unjust laws. Through defining these
terms, we will be able to understand Aquinas claim. A law that is just has the power of binding
in conscience (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20). It is derived from eternal law and therefore
inherently morally correct. An unjust law lacks this integral quality. Aquinas is willing to say
that an unjust law is a so called law, but a just law is a law proper in its entirety. A law is said to
be just when it is ordained for the common good, does not exceed the power of the lawgiver and
any burdens put on the subjects are done proportionally and equally and aim for the common
good (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20). In comparison an unjust law can be contrary to the
human good and additionally opposing to the divine good. A law can conflict with the human
good in one of three ways; either through its end, author or its form. A lawmaker issues an unjust
law according to its end when he imposes on his subjects burdensome laws, conducive not to the
common good, but rather to his own cupidity or vainglory (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20).
If a lawmaker imposes a law that favors the leader but at the same time imposes unfair burdens
on the whole of society, it can be assumed that he is working for his glory and selfish desires.
Secondly, a law according to its form would be

In modern times, a couple usually does not plan to get married less than a week after meeting. Yet
in the small Italian town of Messina in William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing, the
young Claudio and Hero plan to get married as soon as possible. That is, until Claudio is fed false
information that Hero is not a virgin and slanders her at the altar. During the Elizabethan erawhen
this play was written, most female roles and women in general were treated without respect as Hero
was and were only prized on their physical characteristics. Much Ado About Nothing was an
important play in the Elizabethan era because it dealt with social class boundaries and the roles of
women. Although the Elizabethan Era influenced theater greatly,... Show more content on

Elizabethan women were being taught that they were practically property of men. They could
be forced into arranged marriages in order to create bonds between families and were taught to
be dependent on their male relatives (Alchin). Social class and one s status in society could also
coincide with how they were treated on an everyday basis (Alchin). With these many events that
would change the world forever came changes in the theater that would change it forever, too.
James Burbage, a prominent Elizabethan actor, built the first Elizabethan playhouse and called
it the Theatre (Yancey 25). The Theatre, built in 1576, would go on to set a precedent in the
design of all playhouses of the era (Senn). The building was probably round or octagonal and had
no ceiling so as to let in natural light since no efficient artificial lighting had been invented at this
point in time (Yancey 25). Because of the need for natural light during plays, most performances
took place during the afternoon (Yancey 29). On the inside of the Theatre, the stage extended to
be a raised rectangle that took up about half of the ground floor (Yancey 30). Above it was a
balcony on which acting could occur, such as the balcony scene from Shakespeare s Romeo and
Juliet (Yancey 31). Finally, past the back end of the stage was a concealed room called the Tiring
House that served as storage for props and a dressing room for any actors during a performance
(Senn).

Market Failure Of The Pharmaceutical Industry
Market failure appears when there is a failure in allocation of goods and services. When the market
is unsuccessful, the government is called to intervene and correct the failure. Over the years,
government participation in the pharmaceutical market has been more wide ranging than any other
good or service. With the government s ability to regulate, mandate, inform, finance and provide,
their intervention to overcome market failurecan be beneficial for the economy. Market failure plays
a significant role in today s economy.
Pharmaceutical industries are a prime example. There are several possible reasons as to why and
how market failures might lead to such high prices for drugs. Information asymmetry is the most
critical form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, patients often have less knowledge than the prescriber does about the appropriateness of
the drug, where it can be very misinforming for the consumer. Lastly, drug efficacy is a problem in
all contexts. Since stakeholders are likely, less informed than manufacturers it causes both the
consumer and prescriber to depend on the manufacturer for information of the effectiveness of the
drug (Bennett, Quick, Velasquez, 2016).
Externalities, also viewed as the negative spillover effect, plays a role in market failures
associated with pharmaceuticals. In the pharmaceutical sector, externalities take place when
consumers affect the utilization of a drug s value. Externalities typically stop consumers from
receiving cheaper costs for drugs because they normally don t carry the complete costs of drug
expenses. Negative externalities induce a cycle of ongoing sales, more profits and more subsidies.
Thus, if externalities are left to be controlled by a market then the implications will lead to high
pricing on products.
Recently, there had been a controversy over the rise in pharmaceutical costs involving the EpiPen in
the United States. The EpiPen, also known as adrenaline/epinephrine, is a widely used injection
that is used to treat allergic reactions. This generic drug has been available for many years. The
EpiPen controversy is a prime example of how monopoly

Paper on Amnesia
Amnesia
Amnesia is typically defined as partial or total loss of memory. The occurrence of amnesia can
arise at any age. Individuals who suffer from amnesia typically remain lucid and preserve their
sense of self. Amnesiacs can obtain a perfectly normal appearance despite the amnesia. Moreover,
they also have the capacity to read and comprehend words. Based on these facts, researchers have
arrived at the conclusion that more than one area in the brain is used for storing facts.
One type of amnesia is Anterograde Amnesia. Anterograde amnesia is defined as severe amnesia
and causes superfluous difficulties for those suffering from it. Anterograde amnesia is when people

Another theory held by Anna Freud as to why we do not remember our childhood memories is
because children and adults organize memories in different ways based on their brain s
development. While still others believe that children begin remembering facts and events once they
have accumulated enough to be able to relate experiences to each other.
Another type of amnesia that is unusual but not uncommon is transient global amnesia or TGA
for short. TGA is the sudden onset of forgetfulness and confusion. It usually occurs following
physical exertion. During a severe attack the victim experiences total disorientation except for
their own identity. This is combined with a mild form of retrograde amnesia which subsides
when the attack is complete. Attacks usually last anywhere from thirty to sixty minutes and rarely
last to be longer than twelve hours. There is no other alteration in consciousness or obvious
neurological problems. The person s behavior is otherwise normal and they usually recover
completely with in twenty four hours. People suffering from TGA generally have a complete and
rapid recovery. The only time in which a patient is treated for TGA is if it is related to
atherosclerosis, which is poor cerebral circulation.
A case was reported in London in 1997 by a man in his sixties who had regularly suffered from
migraines. He only experienced amnesia when he was having sex. He would ask

Mobile Forensics
Digital forensics (sometimes Digital forensic science) is a branch of forensic science
encompassing the recovery and investigation of material found in digital devices, often in
relation to computer crime.[1][2] The term digital forensics was originally used as a synonym
for computer forensics but has expanded to cover all devices capable of storing digital data and is
now used to describe the entire field.[1] The discipline evolved in a haphazard manner during the
1990s and it was not until the early 2000s that national policies were created.
Investigations can fall into four categories. The most common category is forensic analysis, where
evidence is recovered to support or oppose a hypothesis before a criminal court, this is closely ...

Stoll, whose investigation made use of both computer and network forensic techniques, was not a
specialised examiner.[11] Many of the earliest forensic examinations followed the same profile.[12]
Throughout the 1990s there was high demand for the these new, and basic, investigative
resources. The strain on central units lead to the creation of regional, and even local, level groups
to help handle the load. For example, the British National Hi Tech Crime Unit was set up in 2001
to provide a national infrastructure for computer crime; with personnel located both centrally in
London and with the various regional police forces (the unit was folded into the Serious Organised
Crime Agency (SOCA) in 2006).[10]
During this period the science of digital forensics grew out of ad hoc tools and techniques
developed by these hobbyist practitioners. This is in contrast to other forensics disciplines which
developed from work by the scientific community.[1][13] It was not until 1992 that the term
computer forensics was used in academic literature (although prior to this it had been in informal
use); a paper by Collier and Spaul attempted to justify this new discipline to the forensic science
world.[14][15] This swift development resulted in a lack of standardization and training. In his
1995 book, High Technology Crime: Investigating Cases Involving Computers ,

Moses Accomplishments
Sometimes when we think of biblical heroes, we tend to, in a way, take their actions for granted.
Moses can be one of these. We think, Yea, he brought the Israelites out of slavery from Egypt
and led them into the desert for forty years blah blah blah and then he has these two stone tablets
yada yada yada, let s pray and be dismissed. The accomplishments that this man made are
unprecedented among Biblical resumes. He started by following what God said and went and
conversed with the current Pharaoh of Egypt (Believed to be Thutmose II) for the release of the
Israelite slaves. Not only was he successful in showing the power of God, but after many trials
was he able to render the people of God from the hands of the Egyptians. When trapped between
the hammer of the powerful Egyptian army and the Red Sea, Mosestrusted God and led the people
across dry ground to the other side while drowning the Egyptians.... Show more content on

For all of the good that moses did, he did have some major faults. One day in Egypt after being
brought up in Pharaoh s house, he killed an egyptian man who was beating an Israelite and had
to flee into the desert. When first asked to go and bring the people of israel out of egypt his first
responses were, Who am I to do this? What shall I tell the Israelites about who sent me? What if
they don t listen to me? What if they deny that God appeared to me? But I am not eloquent. I am
slow of speech and tongue. Lord, send whomever you want. When you first read these, it can
sound like an eight year old trying to get out of doing the dishes. His next big mistake was hitting
a rock to make water come out of it to quench the thirst of the Israelites when God had originally
instructed him to speak to the rock. For this mistake, God would not allow Moses to enter the
promised land. He did get to see it from a mountain top right before he

Great Man Theory Analysis Juli
Julius Caesar was undoubtedly a man who changed history. His life and its story have inspired
generations of awe and scrupulous study. Many would argue he is the most influential man in
recorded history. However, can the great Caesar truly be declared a В‘event making man ,
according to the criteria of the Great Man Theory? Did he truly influence the course of history
through his own extraordinary acts of will and leadership? Or was he simply a fortunate man
who appeared in the right place at the right time, being only the pawn of a greater scheme? By

In this, he demonstrated that in politics, Julius Caesar was indeed a great В‘event making man.
During Caesar s famous military career, Caesar showed incredible determination and ingenuity
when facing any opponent. He won battles under impossible odds, and shocked and delighted
Romans with his victories wherever he went. When others doubted him, he proved them wrong.
Doubt would oftentimes even encourage him, and he scoffed at those who fought against him. He
was by no means an ordinary military leader. Of particular note was the combination of his bravery,
his ingenuity, and perhaps most important, his determination. Some may call it stupidity or
ignorance, yet Caesar s unwillingness to lose would win him many famous and prestigious battles.
His battles in Gaul and in Britain brought substantial glory to his name, and gained considerable
land for the Roman Empire which he would soon rule. For nine years he fought campaigns in all
of Britain, and after nine long years he had brought all of Britain into the Roman province. There
were more frequent and longer celebrations in Rome for his victories than for any former general.
Caesar was not only ingenious in his victories of these campaigns, but he also saw their
significance elsewhere. They added immense sums to his already substantial wealth, in the form of
annual revenues from annexed lands. They also increased his fame and popularity, and he was
revered almost as a god. As aforementioned,

nutrients we need, and digestion involves a complex sequence of mechanical and chemical

Government does not have My College s Back
Last week, while having my morning coffee, I overheard a conversation between a college
lecturer and a well known secretary in The Ministry of Finance. I was about to return upstairs in
my office when I observed the secretary pushed forward, looking the lecturer directly in her eyes
emphatically and aggressively said, You academics just don t get it...the government aint gat no

This same discussion is but a fragment of a national discussion that has been ongoing in this
country for many years, and the debate is whether or not The Bahamasis economically, financially

problem indeed.According to her article, We Do Not Need A University , Ms. Pam Burnside

tertiary level institution with inadequate financial resources. She further explains that the Bahamas
is too greedy and is ashamed of the College that we already have in existence. In addition, she
argues that The Bahamas does not need a university and simply cannot afford it. In response to
Burnside s arguments, I most certainly agree with her. The College of The Bahamas is not well
equipped to become a university as it lacks a few vital components that need to be addressed

Patents And The Patent Act Of 1952
Patents Patents are government granted, temporary rights to exclude, awarded in return for an
individual s disclosure of a new useful invention. Patents are granted by the USPTO and last for
nonrenewable term of 20 years (Ferrera et al, 2012). Patents grant exclusive rights to exclude others
from engaging in making, using, selling of patentproducts (O reilly, 2007). Online businesses must
be aware of other s patent rights even if they do not copy other companies business methods or
technologies. XYZ Technologies must perform adequate research before developing and
promoting any new software products. Business may search both issued patents and published
application at the USPTO website as well as via Google s patent search tool (Ferrera et al., 2012).
According to the Patent Act of 1952, patent may only be granted for inventions that are within the
scope of patentable subject matter, useful, new, nonobvious and enabled (Ferrera et al., 2012).
There are subject matters that are not patentable such as laws of nature, physical phenomena and
abstract ideas. To be considered new, at least the person pursuing the patent be the person who
invented it and must not have copied it from others (Ferrera, et al., 2012). To check novelty, prior
art is review. Prior art is existing patents, publications, or knowledge (Ferrera, et al., 2012).
Additionally, an invention can be patentable if the level of ordinary is low. There are expenses that

The report has presented overwhelming statistical evidence to support this conclusion. BPD
stops over 500 pedestrians per every 1,000 African Americans and only under 200 pedestrians
for every 1,000 Caucasian Residents. A solution to this issue would be to have a diverse/variety
of officers employed under the Baltimore Police Department. Diversity should not merely be
based on race but on the background as well. BPD should only assign officers to work in a
jurisdiction where they are familiar with the residents and the demographics of the area. For
example, if an area is 90% African Americanand is known for high drug trafficking, an officer
from a county with majority white residents and only a discriminatory point of view on African
Americans should not be assigned to work in this area. It is important that officers familiarize
themselves with the area they are policing because it will give them a certain level of understanding
and aid in determining how they should approach situations. Also, officers should be able to
honestly express when they are an assigned to an environment where they do not feel comfortable.
Keeping the lines of communication open between police officers and administration is very
important. Officers should be able to perform their duties in a comfortable environment

Examine Eliot s treatment of women in Prufrock, Preludes, Portrait of a Lady and Rhapsody on a
Windy Night
In all four of the poems; Prufrock , Preludes , Portrait of a
Lady and Rhapsody on a Windy Night , Eliot makes references to women. Eliot seems to treat
women almost as objects to either be looked at with wonder and, at times, fascination or as objects
to be scorned upon. In all of the poems Eliot makes the voice of the poem slightly distanced from
the women and this, to me, makes the women seem almost untouchable.
When looking at the poem Prufrock we must first notice that the full title is The Love Song of
J.Alfred Prufrock. This title seems almost ironic as, after reading the poem, we realise that the poem

Portrait of a
Lady has a very dramatic structure a one sided dialogue, in which the lady speaks and her visitor
silently comments ably shows us
Eliot s clear views in this poem about women, and in Portrait of a

pretentious with lines such as So intimate, this Chopin, that I think his soul / Should be resurrected
only among friends and Without these friendships life, what cauchemar! By having the lady speak
French Eliot suggests that he perceives this woman to be trying too hard and this makes us think of
the woman as if she is putting on a mask rather than being herself; this is one of the main themes
which is interwoven into Eliot s poetry. The poem Preludes portrays women in a very different light
to
Prufrock and Portrait of a Lady . In Preludes Eliot draws influence from Baudelaire who wrote
about the more sordid aspects of the modern metropolis, and it would seem that in Preludes
women can almost be included in these sordid aspects. Eliot talks about a woman in the third
stanza of the poem, and it would appear that the woman is a prostitute. Writing about a prostitute,
he presents to us a more sordid side of women. In Preludes , Eliot s view is almost degrading and
at times Eliot presents an ashamed tone when he says

The human eye is nature s version of a camera, yet so much more complex than a camera that all its
functions require years of study to understand. For example, within the layers of the retina
immediately behind the lens, light impulses are converted into electrical signals which proceed
through the optic nerve to the occipital cortex at the back of the brain, where they are translated .

Defects in the shape of the lens, or inadequate filling of the vitreous humor, can result in
inadequate vision. Age and disease also play their part in reducing human vision. Thus, perfect
vision at birth may require correction as early as grade school, and will almost certainly require
correction by the age of retirement.
Ophthalmologists, or eye doctors, can help patients understand the need for corrective lenses or
surgery by using an Eye Anatomy Poster, whose central figure is a cut away view of the right eye
which depicts everything from the rods and cones (specialized structures in the eye the retina uses to
process light) to more esoteric items like the canal of Schlemm or scleral venous sinus, a circular
channel that collects fluid from the anterior chamber and sends it to the bloodstream.
With its diagram of the visible light spectrum, and a dissection of the structures of the eyeball, this
detailed chart makes it easier to see how the sight of a flower, for example, passes through the
retina to the optic nerve and is interpreted by the brain for our enjoyment, edification and

Ned Kelly Cruelty
Such is life These words is thought to be Ned Kelly s last before he was hanged for his crimes. But
who was Ned Kelly? What did Ned do that he deserved to be hanged? Why was Ned important? To
many Ned Kelly is seen as a hero, to others he was seen as a villain but in either event he changed
what would later be Australia. Was Ned Kellygood or bad? Before we understand Ned s story we
must understand Austraila before Ned. Australia was first inhabited by the Aborigonals (the
indigenous people) and was left alone by the outside world until Europeans first had set sail for
the country at around 1606. Between 1606 and 1770 an estimated 54 European ships had came
to Australia. Most of these European ships were from the Dutch East India Company and for a
small time became New Holland. It wasn t until August of 1770 that somebody officially
claimed Australia his name was Lieutenant James Cook. Cook had claimed Australia in the name
for King George the Third and renamed Australia to New South Wales. Once claimed, two fleets
came to Australia the first had eleven ships with about 1,350 people on it. The second fleet had
provided food and supplies that were badly needed but many on the second fleet were ill and
many were near death. None of the people on the second fleet were helpful to the colonies. One
thing to note is that many of the people getting sent to Australia were pervious convicts not only
that, but in 1790 there was one woman to four men. This made making a new colony

Sole Proprietorship And Limited Liability Company
Sole Proprietorship and Limited Liability Company For the past two years, Acme has been
working out of the owner s garage as a sole proprietorship. Which means there is one entity and
there is no separation of the company and the owner. The sole proprietorship and the owner are
one and the same meaning the business is not taxed but rather it is the owner s income. The sole
proprietorship is the least expensive to form. This type of entity has disadvantages of the owner
being liable for all the debts of the company. Another disadvantage is the owner has to sign all
contracts in their name which makes them personally liable for any legal action that could incur.

Comparison Of The Bridge Of Manet And The Bridge Of Manet
Introduction
John Singer Sargent and Edouard Manet were vastly different artists. Sargent preferred to paint
in watercolor and he is best known for his realistic landscape paintings and portraits. One of his
most famous watercolor landscapes is The Bridge of Sighs which depicts a street in Venice,
Italy. Manet, on the other hand, preferred oil and often painted people. He is also famous for
many works, including several with nude figures such as Le DГ©jeuner sur L herbe (The
Luncheon on the Grass) or Olympia. The Bridge of Sighs and The Luncheon on the Grass are
interesting to compare since both artists were famous painters. Each of the works was received
differently when first created, one causing a great controversy while the other was positively
received.
John Singer Sargent
John Singer Sargent was born on January 12th, 1856, to American parents FitzWilliam and
Mary. After the tragic loss of their two year old daughter, the couple had traveled abroad, so
young John was born in Italy. His parents were never really involved with society during his life,
and they spent most of their time traveling abroad. As a result, his formal education was largely
neglected. John was a highly observant child, and often sketched pictures of ships and
landscapes. At the age of 13, he received a few watercolor lessons from a German artist named
Carl Welsch. He quickly became an avid painter. For years, most of his paintings were landscapes,
but after some time, he began creating more and more

Advantages Of The Confederate Flag
The Confederate Flag Debate in Today s Society
The confederate flag has always been a symbol that has caused much controversy. It has been called
a symbol of pride, also a symbol of hate. Many people wonder why it is still seen in today s society
or why it causes so much tension if it is just a flag to some. The flag has bisected the country for
a long time (Kozlowska, 2014). It is a definite border between some citizens and a huge social
problem. It has caused issues for decades and still carries on racial slurs, white power, and bad
morals. Nonetheless the information provided compares both sides of the debate.
Research over whether or not the confederate flag is racist or a symbol of pride has been conducted
for many years now and it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, the people who are confederate ignorant play a problem to society. Learning about the
reasons why is it a social problem gives a deeper understanding of where each individual comes
from.
Negative societal issues regarding the Confederate Flag
Now this was a common research scenario and many felt that it had no connotation to their life
or lifestyles. However, some were deeply hurt by the flag. In the article by Wallace Best he
states, Mama suggested that she had never seen the Confederate flag during her years in the
South because the community in which she lived was strictly segregated, and few people, black
or white, ever crossed the line (Best, 2001, p. 14. Surely this portrays that the flag to them was a
sign of racial segregation and power. The whites were powerful over the flag and many African
American s failed to see it. It was seen as stepping out of place for the blacks. (Best, 2001). Blacks
and whites were not cohesive in being together.
Even though the confederate flag stands by two different sides in society, actions were not taken
upon until recently. It happened when racial actions and hate became more prevalent through
society. An example that was shown through research was in South Carolina. This state struggled
with deciding to keep or remove the flag. The debate over whether the battle flag should remain
flying on public space went on for fifteen years

Essay about master harold
Athol Fugard s Master Harold . . . and the Boys is about Hally, a white young man, and the
damage done by apartheid The play takes place on the southeast cost of South Africa, 1950 during
the apartheid, in Hally s parents restaurant. This is where two black servants, Sam and Willie, work
for the white family. Sam and Williehave been a part of Hally s upbringing and are close friends.
The play is a microcosmfor the situation happening in South Africa a parallel time.
As the whole play is a microcosm to a bigger picture, so to incidents through out the play are

The two of them were up there for a long time; the only bench on the hill read whites only. The
bench is the symbol of apartheid, division, hatred, and racism. It is apartheid that Hally hides
behind as he uses Sam and Willie as his scapegoat. Hally is filled with so much rage over his
father, he is torn between love and hate. When the conflict supernovas, Hally lashes out on his
two black friends. He tries to pretend they are not friends by acting strictly like a boss. Carrying
on with this little man routine, Hally asks Sam to call him Master Harold. Sam would only do
this if they were no longer friends; Hally would be no different from his father. This is the case
for, when he spits in Sam s face, Hally becomes Master Harold. Apartheid is victorious in the
corruption of another white male as Hally takes his place on the bench of segregation. If you re
not careful . . . Master Harold . . . you re going to be sitting up there by yourself for a long time to
come, and there won t be a kite in the sky . On a political viewpoint we see that even if a white
wanted to go against the norm of the system it was almost impossible due to the environment.
Another point is that here we see that the blacks tried to appease the whites anger but enough is
enough and then the blacks anger would flair up, would the whites try appease them?

Plato s Dialogue Phaedo
In Plato s dialogue Phaedo, Socrates argues that there is a clear distinction between the body and
the soul. Socrates argues that the soul is invisible to human eyes and lives on forever after one s
death in order to seek wisdom. In contrast, the body s physical, mortal, and is a physical burden to
the soul. He believes that people should live their lives preparing for deathand separating their soul
from the substantial needs of the body. In addition, he thinks that if a soul has not properly
separating itself from the body after death, it will not be able to be free. One of the philosophical
ideas that Socrates argued was known as the Argument from Affinity. The Argument of Affinity is
about the distinction between the soul and the physical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning. Socrates argues that the body and the mind, in reference to every human being
that has ever existed. Socrates then goes on to differentiate this experience for philosophers.
Philosophers give the impression of being wise during their lifetimes because they are able to
seek wisdom, even with the physical necessities of their bodies. Socrates is at ease about the
entire situation, including his own death because he believes that his soul will live forever. He
thinks that once his soul distances itself from the body, the soul will be able to truly be wise.
The soul of the philosopher achieves a calm from such emotions [pleasures and pain]; it follows
with reason and ever stays with it contemplating the true, the divine, which is not the object of
opinion (122). He believes that the soul of a philosopher is immortal because it is able to seek
wisdom with the burdens of the body so without it will be able to accomplish more.In the
beginning, Socrates argues that the soul and the body are contrasting for every human and when
they separate the soul will truly be free. Later on, Socrates specifically states the souls of
philosophers will be immortal because they are calm and are always thinking of the truth and the
divine. This weakens his argument because everyone is not a philosopher so not everyone s soul
will become immortal. Socrates lists the differences between the body and the soul and what makes
the latter immortal. This argument appears to be unconditional in the context that Socrates is
saying it, however he doesn t mention if this notion is absolute in all cases for every human
being.Socrates does not specifically mention if this explanation is relevant to every single physical
human body and every single immortal soul that a human may possess. The argument can apply to
every single body because every human body

believe the most prominent themes in this book is heartbreak and betrayal. Sophie is no
stranger to hurt and deception. Sophie is sent away to marry a man she does not love by her
family. I try to smile, but it s hollow. Of course, I want my father to be happy and have his lands

Instant Messaging Services Are The Most Popular Nowadays

Instant Messaging services are the most popular nowadays and it is the instant way of

Student Loan Cost Analysis
My Loan Costs for College: I have calculated the total costs of my student loans, including interest,
for a 30 year payment. That is currently the best option because I have not yet received any news
from the various scholarships that I applied to. For Howard University, I might take around
$97,040 for a four year loan and pay back $180,344 over 30 years. For Hawaii Pacific University, I
could take about $107,028 for a six year loan and pay back $198,906 over 30 years. For Humboldt
State, I might take $110,892 for a six year loan and pay $206,087 over 30 years (Student). Howard
University is still the best option for loans. These costs will likely go down when I receive
scholarships. My goal is receive scholarships to pay for most or all of college.
Monthly Payment: Taking interest into consideration for a loan repayment of 30 years, my
monthly repayments for Howard University, Hawaii Pacific, and Humboldt State would be
between $500 and $600 a month. Howard s monthly repayment would be $500.96, Hawaii s
monthly repayment would be $552.52, and Humboldt s monthly repayment would be $572.46.
Obviously, these amounts are completely ridiculous. Howard s estimated monthly repayment is the
cheapest at $500.92, but that is still way too expensive to be paying every month for 30 years. ...

Visual Qualitative Research Paper
According to Shannon, (2013) qualitative research is guided by philosophical and personal
assumptions as well as informational and theoretical frameworks that enlighten the research and
writing processes. The goal is to understand human experiences from the perspective of those who
experience them, methods are characterized by use of inductive logic, subjectivity, lack of reliance
on statistical analysis and dependence on personal interviews or other less structured methods of

Such problems impede their recovery and ability to regain control over their lives (Phillips Park,
2006). This results because domestic violence directly affects women s financial security in key
areas of life: debts, bills, accommodation, legal issues, health, transport, migration, employment,
social security and child support (Arney Scott, 2010). In this regard women need financial support
to bridge the financial gap so that they become self sufficient. In addition, Arney Scott (2010) state
that domestic violence is traumatizing and counselling services should be availed for social and
emotional support.
It is against the mentioned background of domestic violence that the author chose to use
photovoice as a visual and innovative method so as to assess women s social service needs.

method allows researchers to access voices of silenced populations, thus shedding light to what has

A Summary Of Andrew Carnegie And J. P. Morgan
During the time of the American Industrial Revolution famous names like Andrew Carnegie and
J.P. Morgan were investing their money in the Steel and Financial industry to strike it big and
become even richer. Both Carnegie and Morgan, being the brilliant investors that they were, had
two very similar, but different strategies to make the most money possible and rule their markets.
While Morgan believed in horizontal integration, Carnegie invented a system that was much more
interesting and complex, which would be appellated vertical integration. Morgans method of
horizontal integration is defined as, the acquisition of additional business activities that are at the
same level of the value chain in similar (Staff, April 2015). Morgan was buying all the smaller
steel mills and railroad companies to allow him to rule the whole market, which worked, but had
several downfalls. Even though Morgan owned a large amount of factories and percentage of the
industry, it didn t mean that he was going to make more money easier. Carnegie, on the other hand,
used his method of vertical integration, which would allow him to ultimately defeat J.P. Morgan s
threat on the market. Vertical integration is a strategy where a company expands its business
operations into different steps on the same production path, such as when a manufacturer owns its
supplier and/or distributor (Staff, December 2015). So, in Carnegie s instance, he was buying all
the smaller companies that he orders

In determining employability, one must determine and consider a person s current occupational

Analysis Of Small Steps
Author Style To start off, Louis Sachar writes in many different styles in the different books he
writes. There are many different books that he has written and has gotten many awards. Sachar
won the Newbery Medal for one of his top selling books, called Holes. Another book that he is
written is called Small Steps. Small Steps is about how you have one thing at a time in life and not
do so many things at once. In the book Small Steps, Louis Sacharuses figurative language, conflict
to help keep the reader engaged, and uses the same character s name in multiple of his books as
his writing style. One style that Louis Sachar uses in the book Small Steps is conflict. Conflict
is a struggle between opposing forces or when two characters in a story get in a fist fight or just
a fight over a conversation. In the book Small Steps, an example of conflict is on page 217, She
picked up her cup and tossed the contents at him, splattering him with coffee and cream. Kira got
mad at Armpit because Armpit said that Kira should consider another profession besides singing
and Kira was really upset that Armpit said that. Kira tossed the cup of coffee at him while
everyone in the store stared at Armpit with coffee all over his shirt. This relates to the author s
style because Sachar likes to use a lot conflict in his books to keep the reader engaged. Another
example of conflict in the book Small Steps is on page 199, Moses whacked him on the side of his
head. X Ray gets hit on the side of his head very hard by Moses, who is a man who wants the
counterfeit tickets that X Ray has. X Ray s glasses broke, and his tickets were stolen by Moses,
while X Ray lay on the floor after he got punched in the face. Sachar uses a lot of conflict in the
books he writes. In addition to conflict, another style that Louis Sachar uses in his books,
especially Small Steps and Holes, is figurative language. Figurative language is a language that
uses words of expressions with a meaning that is different from the literal interpretation. It also uses
exaggerations or alterations to make a linguistic point. An example of figurative language in Small

thought would more than suffice for what I needed it to.
I hadn t found a place yet that was hiring or that I desired to work at. Just in case however I left
my resume hidden in the glove compartment had I needed it on spot. After searching with no sign
of a job anytime soon, I stopped at a sandwich restaurant that my friend worked at. As he made my
sandwich I mentioned my inability to find a place that was hiring. Oddly enough the manager was
working that day and had heard my complaints. With a glimmer of

Silver Essay In Chemistry
1.Ancestry
Discovered in approximately 3000 BC, silver is one of the oldest elements known to man. Why
was it so easy for miners in Turkey and Greece to discover, one may ask? Silver is also one of the
most abundant elements found on earth and was not difficult to come across when mining
mountains and rocks. (Silver, 1)
The exploration of silver mines in Laurium, Greece is significantly responsible for the rise of
Athens in 600 BC. Additionally, in medieval times, German mines became the main source of
silver in Europe, allowing the country to flourish and become what it is today. Silver proved to be
an important part of the successes of many civilizations, including the ancient civilizations of
Central and South America, who were rich deposits of silver in countries such as Peru, Bolivia and
Mexico. (Silver, 1)
The element of silver is known to have a symbol of Ag. While this may surprise some due to its
lack of resemblance to the actual name, this character has an explanation. Silver was originally
known as seolfor : an Anglo Saxon name, and while this is how its name came to be, silver
possesses the symbol Ag because of the fact that it is an abbreviation of the Latin word for silver,
argentum. (The Element Silver, 1)
As previously mentioned, silver bears the symbol Ag; however, there is much more to know about

With each passing year the demand for silver has increased. As the demand increases, the supply
must inevitably increase as well; and miners around the world have done just that. In 2004 we
supplied approximately 872 billion ounces of silver with a demand as high 917.1 billion ounces.
Last year, there were 978.1 billion ounces of silver distributed into the world with a very high
demand of 1,081.1 billion ounces. With a price of one ounce of silver being 17.2 US dollars in an
open marketplace, it is clear that the silver industry has been doing pretty well. (Supply Demand,

History Of The Iranian Hostage Crisis
There are many important events that have occurred in this world. To the United States, Iran was
important. This is because Iran gave oil to the industrial West. In this case, the United States wanted
to keep Iran independent and stable. Though, the relations between the two countries soon became
broken. One major event was between the United States of America and Iran, which was the Iranian
Hostage Crisis.
On President Jimmy Carter s third year as president, the shah of Iran was in deep trouble. Iran had
brutal and unpopular policies that many people did not agree with. Revolution broke out in the
January of 1979, because many Iranians didn t agree with the shah s ruling. The shah had no
support due to his secret police that would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The crisis made the relations between the united States and Iran very bitter. The Iranians also
developed strong and contempt feelings toward President Jimmy Carter. Carter failed at attempting
to secure the hostages freedoms and that decreased his popularity. This crisis caused the Iranian
Revolution to get moved along and become a bigger problem. An oil conflict also resulted because
the United States then had trouble getting oil from Iran. After the hostage crisis, the U.S. then
looked at Iranians as terrorists and did not have

Critical Infrastructure Essay
What Is Critical Infrastructure? Critical infrastructure are the assets, systems, and networks,
whether physical or virtual, so vital to the United States that their incapacitation or destruction
would have a debilitating effect on security, national economic security, national public health or
safety, or any combination thereof. Critical infrastructureis the backbone of our nation s economy,
security and health. We know it as the power we use in our homes, the water we drink, the
transportation that moves us, and the communication systems we rely on to stay in touch with
friends and family
The national infrastructure is categorized into nine sectors, communications, emergency services,
energy, financial services, food, government, health, transport, water. Infrastructure is categorized

Not everything within a national infrastructure sector is critical . Within the sectors there are
certain critical elements of infrastructure, the loss or compromise of which would have a major
detrimental impact on the availability or integrity of essential services, leading to severe
economic or social consequences or to loss of life. The Criticality Scale includes three impact
dimensions: impact on delivery of the nation s essential services; economic impact (arising from
loss of essential service) and impact on life (arising from loss of essential service).
The Information Technology Sector is the most important CNI element Businesses, governments,

The Man He Killed By Wilfred Owen
War is an event that not many people experience directly. At the same time, too many people
have endured the perils of war. War is not only a physical battlefield, but a mental and emotional
one as well. Many soldiers are forced to kill individuals they might have been friends with in
different circumstances. Those same soldiers are forgotten, or expected to be proud of the things
that they did and experienced that will haunt them for the rest of their life. Three poems describe
these circumstances very well. They include The Man He Killed by Thomas Hardy, Grass by
Carl Sandburg, and Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen. Could you imagine killing someone
you know nothing about just because you were told to do so? That is something that many military
members have to experience at some point. The poem The Man He Killed by Thomas Hardy colors

Many of these veterans suffer from post traumatic stress disorder or simply the haunting memories
from the war. The memories of being hungry, dirty, suffering insomnia, constantly being attacked
or threatened, and many other unpleasant circumstances. In the poem Dulce et Decorum by
Wilfred Owen, the speaker tells a tremendously detailed story about being in a war, and the
terrifying things that happen. At the end of the poem, the speaker tells the reader My friend,
you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent with some desperate glory, The old lie:
Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori. (Owen). This holds very true. Many veterans will not
speak about the war that they were involved in because of the horrors they faced. I have
experienced this first hand. Both of my grandfathers served in the Korean War. I never heard either
of them say a word about it. If my parents had not told me that they were veterans, I would have
never known that my grandfathers served in the Navy and the

The Hatchet By Gary Paulsen Summary
Hatchet By Gary Paulsen Summarizer Prepare a brief summary using the format in the J.A.R.
Reegan and Sheira CH 13 PG 115 123: Reegan: There was a fish moving at the bottom of the
water. The fish started leaking at the bottom. Then there was the mama bear and its cubs. When
he turned there was wolves. Brian was scared at first but the wolves took him in as their own. At
one point the wolves lest brian, then came back. Brian also let the fire burn out. He went to bed
and woke up with cuts on his arms blood on him and seeing the red blood turning black and
drying out. Sheira: It revealed what Brian thought of himself and how he thought he wasn t weak
anymore while he is surviving on his own, he sat back and thought about all the things he has
become such as, a survivor by making fire and hunting for food. He stayed up all night until the
bow looked beautiful. When he tried the bow it broke, Brian made many mistakes but it made him
better. He then made a new bow and went hunting for fish. This time his target succeeded and he
got the fish. He became proud that he captured the fish. He felt new hope building in him, not hope
of him getting rescued, he had hope that it was a new him. He... Show more content on

more, he wanted real meat, he went looking and saw rabbits and squirrels, he could only hunt for
the big rabbits because the small rabbits and squirrels were too fast. There was also fool birds as
Brian calls them, they camouflage in with their surroundings so it was hard to see them, He was
upset because that meant that he wouldn t be able to see them

Bose s Competitors
When building a home entertainment system, a good sound setup is absolutely essential.
Although there are many easy set up kits available, Bose is the brand to turn to for trusted
quality when it comes to speakers. With a pair of Bose Interaudio 4000 speakers, your home
system is taken to the next level. Make sure to place the speakers at a location a few feet away
from the wall to get the best possible effect. This will emulate theater systems as closely as
possible. Use a Bose Interaudio 4000 speaker in conjunction with a high quality Bose subwoofer to
create a true surround soundexperience. Movies and music sound better than ever in your home
entertainment room.
Bose Interaudio 4000 speakers are not typical of the brand. These are a standard pair of 2 way
speakers. Each speaker has e maximum of 100 watts and 75 watts continuous. The cabinets have a
black vinyl veneer and are ported with 2 ports in each one. The highs ... Show more content on

This helped Bose attract more dealers for their products. The end consumer of the product benefit
by getting a decent speaker at an affordable price. However, because these were private label
models, they were never advertised. You also cannot find product reviews for these speakers and
Bose releases no specs for their products generally, other than power rating. Thus, it is difficult to
find any information about this line.
However, they ve remained a solid, reliable part of many home theater systems. Typically people
also add center, surrounds, and subs to fill it out. These speakers were made in USA, something
that is no longer commonplace. This makes them not only a solid addition to your home audio
setup, but also an interesting bit of vintage Americana.

  • 2. Queen Kapiolani In Hawaii Queen Kapiolani was a gentle queen whose main concern was the people of Hawaii. She was determined to make sure the people of Hawaii were taken care of and that they will one day get their homes and justice back. She took every opportunity she could take to ensure the security of her people. She did everything she could in her power to make a better future for her people. Her and her husband were determined to not give the Hawaiian Kingdom to the United States. Kapiolani was born on December 31, 1834 in Hilo on HawaiК»i Island to High Chief Kuhio KalanianaК»ole of Hilo and High Chiefess Kinoiki Kekaulike of KauaК»i, the daughter of King KaumualiК»i, the last King of an independent KauaК»i before its amicable cession to Kamehameha the Great. She and her husband both believed that the Hawaiian government should consist of Hawaiian people not white people. Queen Kapiolani had her coronation on February 12, 1883 at the Iolani Palace. Kalakaua hoped that once day in the future the foreign people leave and the Hawaiian people will be left in peace. Kapiolani did everything she could in her power to help her people. She established the, now called, Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children. This hospital was dedicated to help the Hawaiian mothers and babies. She dedicated her time and energy into this hospital. She even became the first Queen to visit the White House, hooping to bring attention to Hawaii. Queen Kapiolani was so determined that she decided she would never speak English and only speak Hawaiian. Princess Liliuokalani became her interpreter. King Kalakaua loved Queen Kapiolani very much. To show his love for her, he named a 500 acre park after her. Now, the park consists Diamond Head and Honolulu Zoo. The park is also home to many very old banyan trees, and the Kapiolani ... After hard thinking I came to conclusion what i would want to be. I would want to be a Arkansas State Trooper. The history of the Troopers, is that on march 19th it was approved that arkansas had a state police department. When it first started out, they were just seen as rangers . By 1948, the state trooper had grew in size, were there were now over sixtyfive officers, including highway patrol and criminal investigation. As having benefits as a state trooper, they would be social security, disability, healthcare, pension, and also you have time off and to be with your family. In every job that we people have, there are risk that come with the job. Some of the risk of being a state trooper is accidents happening, for example a hit and run, when you pull someone over, and you are hit from the side or if someone is trying to leave a sense. A bigger risk is someone not wanting to get into trouble for something that they have done and they may try to fight you. For example, just this year alone there have been 76 police officers who have been killed. Most of them deaths have came from people who either ran the police officer over, or have shot the officer. But like i had said, with every job there is there are the benefits, and then there are the risk. That is why I choose this career over any other ones. • 5. Body Piercings In American Culture Over the past few decades, body piercings have become a popular form of body art and have been accepted in the American culture. Society has learned to recognize body piercings as a form of self expression; however, most employers are not allowing them to be shown in the workplace. Body piercings serve as a function to stand out from the rest of society. Employees with piercings are defending their right to express themselves in efforts to make body piercings permitted in the work place. Even though piercings are becoming mainstream, they are stilled seen as unprofessional in an office/work setting. Piercings have been a tradition for certain cultures for centuries and are viewed as a necessary body modification. Egyptians were one of the first to practice body alterations followed by African and Native American Tribes. Egyptians used piercings to show their wealth and to reveal their beauty. Others, like Native Americans partook in body piercings as religious rituals as well as to seem fiercer than their enemies. Today s culture has brought these... • 6. St. Thomas Aquinas s An Unjust Law St. Thomas Aquinas argues that an an unjust law is no law at all. (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.19) However, Aquinas also acknowledges that a human lawgiver may promulgate a command that has the form of law, and is enforced like a law, yet is unjust. This observation leads to the realization that these are two inconsistent claims. Yet Aquinas believes that these inconstancies can be reconciled. In Aquinas view an unjust law is not a law but yet is also able to be issued as law and imposed as law. Throughout the course of this essay, I will first define what Aquinas means by incorporating the claim that an unjust law is no law at all . This will include defining important terms that will correspond with evaluating Aquinas claim.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is imperative to understand Aquinas definition of just and unjust laws. Through defining these terms, we will be able to understand Aquinas claim. A law that is just has the power of binding in conscience (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20). It is derived from eternal law and therefore inherently morally correct. An unjust law lacks this integral quality. Aquinas is willing to say that an unjust law is a so called law, but a just law is a law proper in its entirety. A law is said to be just when it is ordained for the common good, does not exceed the power of the lawgiver and any burdens put on the subjects are done proportionally and equally and aim for the common good (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20). In comparison an unjust law can be contrary to the human good and additionally opposing to the divine good. A law can conflict with the human good in one of three ways; either through its end, author or its form. A lawmaker issues an unjust law according to its end when he imposes on his subjects burdensome laws, conducive not to the common good, but rather to his own cupidity or vainglory (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20). If a lawmaker imposes a law that favors the leader but at the same time imposes unfair burdens on the whole of society, it can be assumed that he is working for his glory and selfish desires. Secondly, a law according to its form would be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet in the small Italian town of Messina in William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing, the young Claudio and Hero plan to get married as soon as possible. That is, until Claudio is fed false information that Hero is not a virgin and slanders her at the altar. During the Elizabethan erawhen this play was written, most female roles and women in general were treated without respect as Hero was and were only prized on their physical characteristics. Much Ado About Nothing was an important play in the Elizabethan era because it dealt with social class boundaries and the roles of women. Although the Elizabethan Era influenced theater greatly,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elizabethan women were being taught that they were practically property of men. They could be forced into arranged marriages in order to create bonds between families and were taught to be dependent on their male relatives (Alchin). Social class and one s status in society could also coincide with how they were treated on an everyday basis (Alchin). With these many events that would change the world forever came changes in the theater that would change it forever, too. James Burbage, a prominent Elizabethan actor, built the first Elizabethan playhouse and called it the Theatre (Yancey 25). The Theatre, built in 1576, would go on to set a precedent in the design of all playhouses of the era (Senn). The building was probably round or octagonal and had no ceiling so as to let in natural light since no efficient artificial lighting had been invented at this point in time (Yancey 25). Because of the need for natural light during plays, most performances took place during the afternoon (Yancey 29). On the inside of the Theatre, the stage extended to be a raised rectangle that took up about half of the ground floor (Yancey 30). Above it was a balcony on which acting could occur, such as the balcony scene from Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet (Yancey 31). Finally, past the back end of the stage was a concealed room called the Tiring House that served as storage for props and a dressing room for any actors during a performance (Senn). ... When the market is unsuccessful, the government is called to intervene and correct the failure. Over the years, government participation in the pharmaceutical market has been more wide ranging than any other good or service. With the government s ability to regulate, mandate, inform, finance and provide, their intervention to overcome market failurecan be beneficial for the economy. Market failure plays a significant role in today s economy. Pharmaceutical industries are a prime example. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, patients often have less knowledge than the prescriber does about the appropriateness of the drug, where it can be very misinforming for the consumer. Lastly, drug efficacy is a problem in all contexts. Since stakeholders are likely, less informed than manufacturers it causes both the consumer and prescriber to depend on the manufacturer for information of the effectiveness of the drug (Bennett, Quick, Velasquez, 2016). Externalities, also viewed as the negative spillover effect, plays a role in market failures associated with pharmaceuticals. In the pharmaceutical sector, externalities take place when consumers affect the utilization of a drug s value. Externalities typically stop consumers from receiving cheaper costs for drugs because they normally don t carry the complete costs of drug expenses. Negative externalities induce a cycle of ongoing sales, more profits and more subsidies. Thus, if externalities are left to be controlled by a market then the implications will lead to high pricing on products. Recently, there had been a controversy over the rise in pharmaceutical costs involving the EpiPen in the United States. The EpiPen, also known as adrenaline/epinephrine, is a widely used injection that is used to treat allergic reactions. This generic drug has been available for many years. Individuals who suffer from amnesia typically remain lucid and preserve their sense of self. Amnesiacs can obtain a perfectly normal appearance despite the amnesia. Moreover, they also have the capacity to read and comprehend words. Based on these facts, researchers have arrived at the conclusion that more than one area in the brain is used for storing facts. Another theory held by Anna Freud as to why we do not remember our childhood memories is because children and adults organize memories in different ways based on their brain s development. While still others believe that children begin remembering facts and events once they have accumulated enough to be able to relate experiences to each other. Another type of amnesia that is unusual but not uncommon is transient global amnesia or TGA for short. TGA is the sudden onset of forgetfulness and confusion. It usually occurs following physical exertion. During a severe attack the victim experiences total disorientation except for their own identity. This is combined with a mild form of retrograde amnesia which subsides when the attack is complete. Attacks usually last anywhere from thirty to sixty minutes and rarely last to be longer than twelve hours. There is no other alteration in consciousness or obvious neurological problems. The person s behavior is otherwise normal and they usually recover completely with in twenty four hours. People suffering from TGA generally have a complete and rapid recovery. The only time in which a patient is treated for TGA is if it is related to atherosclerosis, which is poor cerebral circulation. A case was reported in London in 1997 by a man in his sixties who had regularly suffered from migraines. He only experienced amnesia when he was having sex. He would ask ... Stoll, whose investigation made use of both computer and network forensic techniques, was not a specialised examiner.[11] Many of the earliest forensic examinations followed the same profile.[12] Throughout the 1990s there was high demand for the these new, and basic, investigative resources. The strain on central units lead to the creation of regional, and even local, level groups to help handle the load. For example, the British National Hi Tech Crime Unit was set up in 2001 to provide a national infrastructure for computer crime; with personnel located both centrally in London and with the various regional police forces (the unit was folded into the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) in 2006).[10] During this period the science of digital forensics grew out of ad hoc tools and techniques developed by these hobbyist practitioners. This is in contrast to other forensics disciplines which developed from work by the scientific community.[1][13] It was not until 1992 that the term computer forensics was used in academic literature (although prior to this it had been in informal use); a paper by Collier and Spaul attempted to justify this new discipline to the forensic science world.[14][15] This swift development resulted in a lack of standardization and training. We think, Yea, he brought the Israelites out of slavery from Egypt and led them into the desert for forty years blah blah blah and then he has these two stone tablets yada yada yada, let s pray and be dismissed. The accomplishments that this man made are unprecedented among Biblical resumes. He started by following what God said and went and conversed with the current Pharaoh of Egypt (Believed to be Thutmose II) for the release of the Israelite slaves. Not only was he successful in showing the power of God, but after many trials was he able to render the people of God from the hands of the Egyptians. Many would argue he is the most influential man in recorded history. However, can the great Caesar truly be declared a В‘event making man , according to the criteria of the Great Man Theory? Did he truly influence the course of history through his own extraordinary acts of will and leadership? Or was he simply a fortunate man who appeared in the right place at the right time, being only the pawn of a greater scheme? During Caesar s famous military career, Caesar showed incredible determination and ingenuity when facing any opponent. He won battles under impossible odds, and shocked and delighted Romans with his victories wherever he went. When others doubted him, he proved them wrong. Doubt would oftentimes even encourage him, and he scoffed at those who fought against him. He was by no means an ordinary military leader. Of particular note was the combination of his bravery, his ingenuity, and perhaps most important, his determination. Some may call it stupidity or ignorance, yet Caesar s unwillingness to lose would win him many famous and prestigious battles. His battles in Gaul and in Britain brought substantial glory to his name, and gained considerable land for the Roman Empire which he would soon rule. For nine years he fought campaigns in all of Britain, and after nine long years he had brought all of Britain into the Roman province. There were more frequent and longer celebrations in Rome for his victories than for any former general. Caesar was not only ingenious in his victories of these campaigns, but he also saw their significance elsewhere. They added immense sums to his already substantial wealth, in the form of annual revenues from annexed lands. They also increased his fame and popularity, and he was revered almost as a god. According to the report, the BaltimorePoliceDepartment is guilty of making stops, searches, and arrests without having probable cause, especially against African Americans. The report has presented overwhelming statistical evidence to support this conclusion. BPD stops over 500 pedestrians per every 1,000 African Americans and only under 200 pedestrians for every 1,000 Caucasian Residents. A solution to this issue would be to have a diverse/variety of officers employed under the Baltimore Police Department. Diversity should not merely be based on race but on the background as well. BPD should only assign officers to work in a jurisdiction where they are familiar with the residents and the demographics of the area. For example, if an area is 90% African Americanand is known for high drug trafficking, an officer from a county with majority white residents and only a discriminatory point of view on African Americans should not be assigned to work in this area. It is important that officers familiarize themselves with the area they are policing because it will give them a certain level of understanding and aid in determining how they should approach situations. Also, officers should be able to honestly express when they are an assigned to an environment where they do not feel comfortable. Keeping the lines of communication open between police officers and administration is very important. Officers should be able to perform their duties in a comfortable environment ... • 18. Examine Eliot s treatment of women in Prufrock, Preludes,... Examine Eliot s treatment of women in Prufrock, Preludes, Portrait of a Lady and Rhapsody on a Windy Night In all four of the poems; Prufrock , Preludes , Portrait of a Lady and Rhapsody on a Windy Night , Eliot makes references to women. Eliot seems to treat women almost as objects to either be looked at with wonder and, at times, fascination or as objects to be scorned upon. In all of the poems Eliot makes the voice of the poem slightly distanced from the women and this, to me, makes the women seem almost untouchable. When looking at the poem Prufrock we must first notice that the full title is The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock. This title seems almost ironic as, after reading the poem, we realise that the poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Portrait of a Lady has a very dramatic structure a one sided dialogue, in which the lady speaks and her visitor silently comments ably shows us Eliot s clear views in this poem about women, and in Portrait of a Lady the tone suggests that he feels women are false note(s). The dialogue of the woman is very pretentious with lines such as So intimate, this Chopin, that I think his soul / Should be resurrected only among friends and Without these friendships life, what cauchemar! By having the lady speak French Eliot suggests that he perceives this woman to be trying too hard and this makes us think of the woman as if she is putting on a mask rather than being herself; this is one of the main themes which is interwoven into Eliot s poetry. The poem Preludes portrays women in a very different light to Prufrock and Portrait of a Lady . In Preludes Eliot draws influence from Baudelaire who wrote about the more sordid aspects of the modern metropolis, and it would seem that in Preludes women can almost be included in these sordid aspects. Eliot talks about a woman in the third stanza of the poem, and it would appear that the woman is a prostitute. Writing about a prostitute, he presents to us a more sordid side of women. In Preludes , Eliot s view is almost degrading and at times Eliot presents an ashamed tone when he says The thousand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Eye Anatomy Poster Eye Anatomy Posters Explaining Our Body s Cameras By Stephen Lamb Oct 4, 2009 The human eye is nature s version of a camera, yet so much more complex than a camera that all its functions require years of study to understand. For example, within the layers of the retina immediately behind the lens, light impulses are converted into electrical signals which proceed through the optic nerve to the occipital cortex at the back of the brain, where they are translated . Healthy eyes see in 20/20 vision. Age and disease also play their part in reducing human vision. Ophthalmologists, or eye doctors, can help patients understand the need for corrective lenses or surgery by using an Eye Anatomy Poster, whose central figure is a cut away view of the right eye which depicts everything from the rods and cones (specialized structures in the eye the retina uses to process light) to more esoteric items like the canal of Schlemm or scleral venous sinus, a circular channel that collects fluid from the anterior chamber and sends it to the bloodstream. With its diagram of the visible light spectrum, and a dissection of the structures of the eyeball, this detailed chart makes it easier to see how the sight of a flower, for example, passes through the retina to the optic nerve and is interpreted by the brain for our enjoyment, edification and ... Australia was first inhabited by the Aborigonals (the indigenous people) and was left alone by the outside world until Europeans first had set sail for the country at around 1606. Between 1606 and 1770 an estimated 54 European ships had came to Australia. Most of these European ships were from the Dutch East India Company and for a small time became New Holland. It wasn t until August of 1770 that somebody officially claimed Australia his name was Lieutenant James Cook. Cook had claimed Australia in the name for King George the Third and renamed Australia to New South Wales. The second fleet had provided food and supplies that were badly needed but many on the second fleet were ill and many were near death. Philosophers give the impression of being wise during their lifetimes because they are able to seek wisdom, even with the physical necessities of their bodies. Socrates is at ease about the entire situation, including his own death because he believes that his soul will live forever. He thinks that once his soul distances itself from the body, the soul will be able to truly be wise. The soul of the philosopher achieves a calm from such emotions [pleasures and pain]; it follows with reason and ever stays with it contemplating the true, the divine, which is not the object of opinion (122). He believes that the soul of a philosopher is immortal because it is able to seek wisdom with the burdens of the body so without it will be able to accomplish more.In the beginning, Socrates argues that the soul and the body are contrasting for every human and when they separate the soul will truly be free. Later on, Socrates specifically states the souls of philosophers will be immortal because they are calm and are always thinking of the truth and the divine. This weakens his argument because everyone is not a philosopher so not everyone s soul will become immortal. Socrates lists the differences between the body and the soul and what makes the latter immortal. This argument appears to be unconditional in the context that Socrates is saying it, however he doesn t mention if this notion is absolute in all cases for every human being.Socrates does not specifically mention if this explanation is relevant to every single physical human body and every single immortal soul that a human may possess. • 36. Analysis Of Small Steps Author Style To start off, Louis Sachar writes in many different styles in the different books he writes. There are many different books that he has written and has gotten many awards. Sachar won the Newbery Medal for one of his top selling books, called Holes. Another book that he is written is called Small Steps. Small Steps is about how you have one thing at a time in life and not do so many things at once. In the book Small Steps, Louis Sacharuses figurative language, conflict to help keep the reader engaged, and uses the same character s name in multiple of his books as his writing style. One style that Louis Sachar uses in the book Small Steps is conflict. Conflict is a struggle between opposing forces or when two characters in a story get in a fist fight or just a fight over a conversation. In the book Small Steps, an example of conflict is on page 217, She picked up her cup and tossed the contents at him, splattering him with coffee and cream. Kira got mad at Armpit because Armpit said that Kira should consider another profession besides singing and Kira was really upset that Armpit said that. Kira tossed the cup of coffee at him while everyone in the store stared at Armpit with coffee all over his shirt. This relates to the author s style because Sachar likes to use a lot conflict in his books to keep the reader engaged. Another example of conflict in the book Small Steps is on page 199, Moses whacked him on the side of his head. X Ray gets hit on the side of his head very hard by Moses, who is a man who wants the counterfeit tickets that X Ray has. X Ray s glasses broke, and his tickets were stolen by Moses, while X Ray lay on the floor after he got punched in the face. Sachar uses a lot of conflict in the books he writes. In addition to conflict, another style that Louis Sachar uses in his books, especially Small Steps and Holes, is figurative language. • 38. The Importance Of Application For A Job Who knew that applying for a job could arguably give me more experience then the job itself, that a simple resume made me think about who I was and how much I had accomplished. For a entry level job how important could it be anyway? Depends on how one wants to look at it, On one hand I got a job without them even looking at it, while I still felt proud of what I had created nonetheless. Everyone is nervous when applying for any job regardless of what it is. Standing at the door, trembling as thoughts of instant rejection passed through my mind. Face clean shaven and some brand new khakis, I looked like I was going to a wedding more so than a job interview. As I entered the building the smell of fruits and sweets sent my mind spinning. ... More than just what I could do and have done but what I couldn t do and failed to do. Putting everything on there didn t seem to be a very good way to get a decent job. Even if I didn t write it down for fear of my cons outweighing my pros, I had still given it deep thought. Through writing I discovered parts of myself I had never truly given any thought towards. The feeling can only be compared to looking at a image you have seen hundreds of times yet there are parts that you still never noticed before. With certainty I can guarantee I didn t cover anything due to the complexity of humans. Even if I didn t include everything I still overwrote, the suggested amount. Even with living a pretty normal life up to this point, It was difficult to try and compress who I was as a person into a few quick notes. After careful planning I threw together something I thought would more than suffice for what I needed it to. I hadn t found a place yet that was hiring or that I desired to work at. Just in case however I left my resume hidden in the glove compartment had I needed it on spot. After searching with no sign of a job anytime soon, I stopped at a sandwich restaurant that my friend worked at. As he made my sandwich I mentioned my inability to find a place that was hiring. Oddly enough the manager was working that day and had heard my complaints. With a glimmer of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why was it so easy for miners in Turkey and Greece to discover, one may ask? Silver is also one of the most abundant elements found on earth and was not difficult to come across when mining mountains and rocks. (Silver, 1) The exploration of silver mines in Laurium, Greece is significantly responsible for the rise of Athens in 600 BC. Additionally, in medieval times, German mines became the main source of silver in Europe, allowing the country to flourish and become what it is today. Silver proved to be an important part of the successes of many civilizations, including the ancient civilizations of Central and South America, who were rich deposits of silver in countries such as Peru, Bolivia and Mexico. (Silver, 1) The element of silver is known to have a symbol of Ag. While this may surprise some due to its lack of resemblance to the actual name, this character has an explanation. Silver was originally known as seolfor : an Anglo Saxon name, and while this is how its name came to be, silver possesses the symbol Ag because of the fact that it is an abbreviation of the Latin word for silver, argentum. (The Element Silver, 1) As previously mentioned, silver bears the symbol Ag; however, there is much more to know about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
