The slide is all about the services which are needed for a building..It includes Electrical supply, water supply, drainage, gas supply, and floor finishes.

3. Let’s Have Some Basic
Knowledge About
Building Engineering Services…….
4. Building services engineering is a
professional engineering discipline
that strives to achieve a safe and
comfortable indoor environment
whilst minimizing the
environmental impact of a building.
7. Electrical wiring is an electrical
installation of cabling and associated
devices such as switches, distribution
boards, sockets, and light fittings in a
structure.
8. Electric wiring comes to the
electric poles from the main power
station,
Then ,from the electric pole,
electricity or eletric power
enters the building through
suitable wires.
9. The wires then enter a
main station chamber for
an individual floor. In
some structures they
have their own
transformer for efficient
power supply….
10. Wall Chasing:
After the partition walls are
constructed, they are carved out
horizontally & vertically for wiring
purposes. This process is termed
as “Wall Chasing”.
11.
12. Wires are coming through the
pvc pipe and enter the
switchboard like the picture
from the construction site.
And after that, switches are
placed over the wires
15. Plumbing is the system of pipes, drains, fittings,
valves, valve assemblies, and devices installed in a
building for the distribution of water for drinking,
heating and washing, and the removal of waterborne
wastes, and the skilled trade of working with pipes,
tubing and plumbing fixtures in such systems.
"Plumbing" is often denotes the supply and waste
system of an individual building, distinguishing it
from water supply and sewage systems that serve a
group of buildings

17. Water can be reserved in underground
reservoirs. And in time of need water
can be pumped to the whole
structure.Its one kind of underground
water storage.
In some structure water is directly
pumped from the underground by pump
and is being used.
18. water tanks are placed on rooftop
of the structure in case of multi-
storied buildings. These tanks may
be made of PVC or concrete.
pumps are used to induce flow or
raise a liquid from a low level to a high
level. These pumps work on a very
simple mechanism. A centrifugal
pump converts rotational energy,
often from a motor, to energy in a
moving fluid. ...
19. From tank, water is distributed through
pvc or steel pipe and enter different
floors,different rooms. Different type of
pipe fittings and bulb are used in the to
control the right flow of water.
21. Wastewater is a term that is used to describe waste
material that includes industrial liquid waste and
sewage waste that is collected in towns and urban
areas and treated at urban wastewater treatment
plants.

24. A U-Trap employs a flat plate magnet in a shallow
body to minimize damage to the product flowing
past. How to choose & use metal separators
The prototype was successful with one major lesson
learned: the water meter for recording the total
amount of collected condensate should be installed
either in the vertical section of pipe above the
pump, or in a U-trap in the horizontal run, because,
otherwise, the pipe is never totally full of water, and
an impeller-type meter could misread the flow
volume.

25. A fitting is used in pipe systems to
connect the straight pipe or tubing
sections, adapt to different sizes or
shapes and for other purposes,
such as regulating (or measuring)
fluid flow
Pipe Fittings
26. Septic Tank:
It is a primary horizontal
continuous flow
type of sedimentation tank having
extra
provision to digestion of settled
sludge.
29. Wastewater treatment is a process used to remove contaminants from
wastewater or sewage and convert it into an effluent that can be
returned to the water cycle with minimum impact on the
environment, or directly reused. The treatment of wastewater is part
of the overarching field of sanitation. Sanitation also includes the
management of human waste and solid waste as well as stormwater
(drainage) management.By-products from wastewater treatment
plants, such as screenings, grit and sewage sludge may also be treated
in a wastewater treatment plant.
31. Municipal gas distribution systems consist of gas pipelines for various
purposes; gas reduction terminals, including municipal distribution
points, municipal distribution stations, and individual pressure
regulators that provide a constant pressure to pieces of equipment; and
gas storage facilities (gas tanks) that compensate for irregular daily gas
consumption (mainly for municipal and domestic purposes). Gas
distribution systems are equipped with gas pressure meters,
communication systems, warning systems, automatic controls, and
shutoff fittings (such as shutoff valves, shutoff cocks, gate valves, and
water seals) for disconnecting separate sections of the piping system or
buildings during emergencies and repair work.
33. Floor Finishes
Flooring is the general term for a permanent covering of
a floor, or for the work of installing such a floor covering.
Floor covering is a term to generically describe any finish
material applied over a floor structure to provide a
walking surface. Both terms are used interchangeably
but floor covering refers more to loose-laid materials.
35. Cement Concrete Flooring:
Cement concrete flooring is one of the
most common types of flooring used in
both in residential as well as public
buildings owing to its non-absorbent
nature and thus it is very useful for water
stores, durability, smooth and pleasing in
appearance, good wearing properties,
easy maintenance and is economical.
36. Tile Flooring:
Tile flooring is manufactured from a
variety of materials such as clay, stone,
metal, terrazzo, and quartz. Each type of
tile flooring has its own defining
characteristics. Generally speaking, the
two most commonly used types of tile
flooring are ceramic and natural stone.
37. Terrazzo Flooring:
Terrazzo is a composite material
which is used for floor and wall
treatments. It consists of marble,
quartz, granite, glass or other
suitable materials poured in a
cementitious binder. Additional
chips may be sprinkled atop the
mix before it sets .
38. Brick Flooring:
Red brick is used for the flooring which is made from
clay. Red brick is the most popular and leading
building material because it is cheap, hard, durable
and easy to handle and to work with. Brick flooring is
derived from pavers, which are thinner than the
regular bricks used in walls and other structural
elements. Brick Flooring is commonly used in
godowns ,ware houses, residential houses, garden,
roads and in areas where good bricks are available.
