Surveys suggest that more than 80% of workers in the construction industry suffer
from some degree of work-related stress. This can result in symptoms of anxiety
or depression and may lead to physical health issues such as stomach ulcers and
increased risk of heart attack. Employers are likely to suffer the consequences by
having higher levels of absenteeism and lower productivity.
In an industry where workers face demands such as heavy workloads, tight deadlines
and high risk work environments, ensuring the emotional and mental wellbeing of
staff in the workplace is increasingly being seen as an essential business requirement.
This workshop will explore what you need to know about mental health in the
construction industry and will provide hints and tips on how to support your
employees whilst complying with your legal duties.
