39. TAMESIDE BUSINESS GRANT
FOR EMPLOYERS
The Tameside Business Grant for Employers offers a
grant of £1,500 to businesses which create:
• an apprenticeship for a Tameside resident
aged 16-24 years old
• a job role for a Tameside resident paid at the
living wage (currently £8.25 per hour)
Nemo Autos Ltd, Hyde
Samantha Clayton (Owner) of Nemo Autos Ltd, Hyde with
her Apprentice Georgia Moseley:
“As a small business overheads are high. The grant
helps to pay Georgia’s wage. In all honesty, the grant
is a massive help, we are really grateful.” Samantha
Clayton, Owner of Nemo Autos Ltd
40. TAMESIDE Y.E.S.
Businesses will be reimbursed for 6 months
salary if they employ a Tameside resident
aged 16-24 years, who is not in employment,
education or training through the scheme.
The scheme support apprenticeships and
non-apprenticeship roles for 6 months.
“I thought there’s no financial risk and it gives a
young person the opportunity to see what it’s
like to work. How does a young person get
experience without a chance? By employing a
person with no experience, it also gave me the
chance to mould someone.” Darren Hartley,
Managing Director at Insul-Eight Contracts Ltd.

Tameside Council recognise the borough has a vitally
important Trade skill base. To support this we created

24 years)
• A new trade business starting up in Tameside
(16-24 years)
The grant can be used to buy tools or even buying a

“I wouldn’t be as far on in my career without the Trade Grant.
Better tools, better jobs, better end product.” Kane Johnson,
