Employees constantly make two kinds of ‘fairness’ judgments.
A. Assessments about the fairness of the rewards and other outcomes that the
organization distributes.
B. Assessments about the fairness of the organization’s processes, especially its
supervisory and decision making processes, as well as its HR policies and
procedures.

Of these two, employee judgments about the fairness of their
organization’s processes, policies and procedures are by far the more
important, at least for the purpose of influencing employee commitment.*
