The Village of Buffalo Grove is seeking a part-time Permit Clerk in the Community Development
Department located at Village Hall under the direction of the Administrative Services Manager.
The Permit Clerk is the main point of customer contact for the community development department and
ensures that permit applications, inspections requests and contractor license applications are processed
promptly in a fast paced environment. Additionally, the Permit Clerk provides a variety of clerical
assistance to the Community Development Department staff related to filing, organizing, searching,
digitizing and producing records.
This is an 18 hour/week position. While a flexible schedule is preferred to accommodate peak permit
seasons, general hours to be 10:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. Monday through Friday with occasional Monday
night hours (approximately 1-2 times/month). The hours could be increased based upon performance
and budget constraints.
Interested candidates should possess excellent customer service skills, interpersonal and organizations
skills, and excellent time management abilities. This position requires an ability to maintain effective
working relationships with internal and external customers and be able to utilize good judgement and
have the ability to multi-task as necessary.
Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma or GED; or any equivalent combination of
training and experience related to the job functions of the permit clerk.
